Hope Peppa was fun

We've managed to muddle our way through the day, dd2 had a fab time at party this am, and her sister and Meridians ds enjoyed the play centre too, so that was good my other friend looked after the kids this afternoon and managed to do or not do the following:

  1. Attempted cornflake cakes, decided to put milk in the chocolate and I'm now eating a dry cornflake and small globular chocolate concoction????? sure it'll taste better as a breakfast cereal type thing So she may be a Dr, but not a cook eh!

  2. Hid in our airing cupboard during a game of hide and seek with the dd's, surprisingly they couldn't find her (Friz ponders how clean her stuff is in there now?) let alone how the hell she managed to fit! it has shelves...........luckily she remembered to tell us this, so now when one of the dd's goes missing we'll know where to look

  3. lol at this one, dd2 exploded (2nd poo of the day!) then decided not to mention it till there was all a funny smell etc, right up her back apparently (this hasn't happened in ages!) so my poor friend had to clean this all up lol.

laundrylover · 24/02/2008 22:12

LOL at your friend in the airing cupboard Friz!

Well, Kiah has officially dropped her sleep in the day and we are getting 8am starts!!!!....go for it ladies, start pinching those sleepy children. YOu also reminded that I really need to attack Kiah's mop - looks even worse now that Tilly has her bob.

Went to the Media Museum in Bradford today and met up with BIL and family. My girls were amazingly well behaved despite not going to bed until 9.30pm last night as DP parents here for dinner.

Should go to bed but have a great fire going with some new ash logs that I acquired....seems a shame to waste the fire after months of burning wet logs....

Am researching digital cameras for Tilly's birthday present so she doesn't have to use the SLR which is nearly as big as her.

Astrophe · 25/02/2008 14:53

mmmm, choc cornflake cookies...

I second the sleep dropping motion - DS has not had a day sleep for a few months (having said that, he is currently asleep in the car on the drive - more on that in a second) and he sleeps so much better - 7.30.8pm-7.30am, without all the carry on in the evenings. Wonderful! (grumpy afternoons though)

Anyway, DS just fell asleep on the way home from play centre, and I am sitting in the front room, at the window, watching him in the car, which is on the drive. A Market research man just came to the door and said "Are you aware that your child is in the car? - you might want to bring him in". PMSL! I said yes, thanks. But should have said "Oh...is that where I left him!?"

Better go and wake him, or we will be up late this evening.

UniS · 25/02/2008 16:05

I'm not dropping boys nap yet, hes still sleeping 7.30pm till 8am AND having a 2 hour nap most afternoons. He was nap less for a few days last week and was soooo tired by saturday he slept till 9.45am. Was V tired and grumpy by bedtime every night too.
Hes asleep now.
I'm been back on teh trail of an event venue that can provide sport shall, other hall, catering and camping all on one site.... have a few more nequires out so hope something will come up with a positive answer.
House moving update. buting is on hold till DH does or soesn;t getteh job hes seen advertised and will apply for. This house is going on the market as if Dh does get new job we will have to move up country, back to Berkshire. if he doesn't we will move out of this city . Thsi summer seems a resoanbale time, boys not started preschool or anything yet.
Have another estate agent coming round tomorrow for a market apprasial.

Astrophe · 25/02/2008 19:42

Lucky you with the nap and god sleep at night DD was like that .

Wow - house on the market - possible move to another county...very exciting times for you lot!

LL - question re. pants at night (for DS!. He is dry all night but more often than not wets when he wakes up. if I happen to hear him stirring and bounce out of bed, he is dry and we do a quick loo run. Occasionally he gets up and comes and tells me he needs a wee, but often we have a wet bed. Any thoughts? Don't really want to go back to nappies, but I'm not keen on washing sheets every day either! Its only been about a week btw.

DD back at nursery today, DS and I spent the day at Play Centre with a friend and her little girl who is 1 year older than DS. Lovely day

DD's nursery - they keep serving weird meals, very carb heavy. Today was fish fingers, mash and spaghetti . Think I will have a word with them - not thrilled about the lack of veg, even if it is only 2 days a week. They recently employed new cooks...also, they don't seem to take them outside much atm. Do yours get out much? Seemed like good enough weather today. I'm a bit worried that things are deteriorating because the room leader is leaving -I think she is fabulous and really holds the place together.

Astrophe · 25/02/2008 19:42

good sleep I mean

Frizbe · 25/02/2008 20:55

AStro sounds like they got the new cook from the dd's nursery here, I had to tell them off for serving spag hoops as veg [hmmm] tomato sauce right

Uni, very excited for you, a move on the cards no matter what, oooh you lucky thing what job is dh going for (nosey!)

LL, your fire sounds lovely have you sorted those haircuts out yet then? I keep meaning to go to the Bradford museum, but have never made it so far

dd2 has in fact just dropped her daytime nap, which is what I think has made her sleep that extra hour till 7am hurrah!! (that and dh tricking her, by moving her clock back by an hour

Whilst I was at the gym our re upholstered dining room chairs have come back they look great, BUT dh is annoyed and has refused to pay at the moment, because they quoted £25 per chair, which they have charged on one bill, but then we have another bill from someone else whose done the glueing for £90.00 when we went with these guys, as they said £25.00 verbally for the lot no sure where we stand over £90.00, but am rather annoyed

laundrylover · 26/02/2008 11:42

Uni, I can't believe your boy sleeps so much - you are very lucky!! I'm nosy too about your DHs job...tell us more...

Astro...hmmm...not sure about the night time thing. I have a wee sheet from Hippychick so I think i just took the plunge and left Kiah nappyless like you are doing! Make sure that DS has a wee before bed - even if he says he doesn't need one - I sit Kiah on the loo with a comic and she usually squeezes one out. What about having a potty by the bed for when he wakes up? Really though I think he will soon learn to hold it in for a few minutes - Kiah sometimes waits half an hour! My children are like camels!!

Friz, I think you should stick to your guns over the chairs - what a sneaky thing to do! I have just had a similar thing with a builder's quote from a client...£650 to put up a wall cupboard!!!!!! It made me swear in my return email. Anyway have sorted out for DP to go down and do the work so after my week as a single mum next week when he goes ski-ing I'll be well practised and can ship him off to London every week. Will charge top whack, get some money in the bank and then get him back working on our house again.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 26/02/2008 17:02

that sounds like a great plan LL I am sticking to my guns, but I forgot to bring their number to work today, so will go see them in person tomorrow on way through to dd2's tots class. If they argue I'm going to let dd2 loose with a marker pen in their showroom (oh how I wish!)

dh just rang and declared he was picking up a ready meal for tonight, as he won't be home till 6 and I need to eat by halfpast, as I have 2 x gym classes to get to, I said to him, what do you think I would do if it was my turn to cook, that's right I'd be getting in at 6 and cooking from scratch with the ingredients we already have in the house which will take the same amt of time, honestly [shcok]

Frizbe · 27/02/2008 20:34

Who felt the quake then? here dh was very funny actually, I woke up with the bed lurching forward cakewalk style, and thought 'shit earthquake' so I yelled 'earthquake' at dh, he lept out of bed ninja style and landed in a 'where's the assilant?' pose, yelling, what's happening, what's going on? by which point through my laughter I managed to tell him there was a quake happening, he said 'no there's not' then a load of stuff fell off our shelf it was very funny. It woke dd1 but not dd2 Speaking to my mum tonight, whose about 25 miles away as the crow flies from the epicentre, she said it was the noise that woke them 1st, before the house went all wobbly, she also mentioned the cat did a runner at 9pm and refused to come back in the house at 11pm and he never stays out, so she's taking heed the next time he does one!

UniS · 27/02/2008 21:06

EArth quakes are weird arn't they. We didn;t notice this one al teh way down here but back in 1996 We were in cornwall on honey moon when there was one centred on north cornwall. We felt that one alright! was like some one jumping on the floor above us, but we were on the top floor. Cue lots of jokes about the earth moving during our honey moon, also plenty about seeing fireworks - we got married on bonfire night.

Dhs job. I'm not allowed to say much. he discribes his current job thus " I work with super computers for for a national organisation", the potential new job would be similar but for an international organisation.
He not sure if he will get permission to apply, with out permission he won't even get an interveiw... The 2 organistaions have close links.

We are V lucky with the boys sleep. hes a PITA when he doen;t get enough tho.

I'm taking him with me while I do a bit of work tomorrow! I must be mad. Hoping a tractor video will keep him happy for 30 mins.

Astrophe · 27/02/2008 23:16

te he Friz - we had similar:

Me: "shit!" (not normally the swearing type, me )
DH: "whah? huh? muh?...what was that?"
Me: "I think it was an earth quake!"
DH:"huh, why do you think that?"

Then I stayed awake for hours petrified and planning how I would rouse DH and get both DC downstairs and under the dining table in case of another one .

Sooooo, tired...but still up as DS has been vomiting since 7pm

laundrylover · 28/02/2008 10:41

I woke up and said, 'what the hell was that???!!' so I think that the noise woke me, can't remember any shaking tho as DP was fast asleep so think I went straight back to sleep...then Kiah woke up in a terrible state and I forgot all about it. In the morning my friend dropped her daughter off and said 'Did you feel the earthquake?' and it all clicked in daft old brain.

Tilly is 4 today. This very day in 2004 she popped out at 8.06am, all 5 and a half pounds of her! We bought her a proper digital camera so that DP can keep her off his SLR - she really likes taking photos so am charging it up for later. Party tomorrow...

I've invited LongLeggedLoon over, she's a new MNer who's having a bit of a crap time with her DS who, like our lot is a terrible two year old just a bit too early!

I'm sooo proud of boy today. he was a lovely really good little boy today. I had to take him with me while I did a little bit of PAT testing for a the fireshow I work on in the village we might move to.
He managed to behave himself in someone elses house while I worked. then we went to teh rec ground for a very wet slide and the pub for lunch, off to look at a house after lunch then back to the vilage hall to a drop in tots session with ryhme time we had recieved a tip off about in teh pub at lunch time. We both had a good day whichwas teh marvellous thing. I had felt a bit mean dragging him off to work and to look at yet another house but it all came good with the ryhme time session. Only happens once a month in that village as its a travelling toy library & out reach session from the surestart in the nearest town.
fell fast asleep on the way home, stayed asleep while I put him his cot and remained that way till I woke him up at 5.15.
Seems your earth quakes were pretty non events then ;-)
Happy birthday Tilly. what a big girl having her own camera, did you go for a kiddy one or a proper one?
Hi to LLL if you pop in. come on in teh waters lovely.

Frizbe · 28/02/2008 20:16

Happy Birthday Tilly
hope you're enjoying the camera young lady dd1 needs a new one here, the cheapy one we got her for xmas when she was 3 and a bit, broke the other day she has lots of great photos at obscure angles from it Have a great party too

Uni for you having such a lovely day, its great when they happen like that, any joy with the houses you've looked at so far then?

Astro at you staying awake for so long, I think I managed 15 mins of is it going to happen again, before sleep beckoned (bad mother eh!)

Dd2 looks to finally be getting her last front fang, and did poo of the year right up her back again for my mum today to prove it as you can tell the potty training isn't getting there yet she keeps sitting on it, just not doing anything on it.....she even yelled, to the chaning rooms delight yesterday at the pool, look mummy wee wee, as she stood on the floor just after getting out the pool

Astrophe · 29/02/2008 23:09

Happy birthday Tilly! (Hadn't even thought of a camera for DD - but what FAB idea for her 4th birthday before we go away on our trip! - what type/brand?)

Any luck with houses Uni?

Friz at DD2 and her triumphant wee-ing!

DS still pretty sick here - has kept down a little food today, but still has a temp of 38+ for most of the day. My GP friend did the calculations of his calpol and neurofen doses based on his weight, so we have upped dosage of neurofen from 2.5 to 4.5ml, which has helped. Poor little boy, he is all wobbly and weak and sad

Friend's DD's 3rd birthday party tomorrow, so I will take DD while DH holds the fort with DS. It will be nice to get out of the house for a bit.

DH is away all of next week, so hopefully everyone is healthy by then.

Happy weekend all

Frizbe · 01/03/2008 13:16

for ds astro, really hope he's better soon.

Am not much good today, see Feb thread for long whinge about dh If he doesn't buck his ideas up we will be getting divorced. Sooooo pissed off at him.

Astrophe · 01/03/2008 13:44

Grrrrr at DH Friz - men eh? Are you serious about divorce btw? Are things very bad atm?

Hope you get everything done in time for party - sure it will be lovely.

DS much better today, although still not 100%. He is eating though - a very good sign!

DH has taken DD into town and DS is asleep, so I really should go and make birthday cake too...
x

laundrylover · 02/03/2008 09:46

{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}} for you Friz. Your DH is being crap but that's what men are like if you don't constantly kick them up the bum I find!! What did he get you for Mother's Day today? Something good I hope!

Astro - hope DS is better again today.

Uni - loved your account of your day with DS....am hoping for a week like that whilst DP is ski-ing but not hopeful!!

Tilly bought a bag of cards and chocs into my bed this morning in the absence of DP which was very sweet. Unfortunately Kiah was up at 6am full of beans and doing comedy bfing.

My sis stayed over so was able to lay in bed and feel her baby kicking last night which was lovely!

We got Tilly this camera...finepix in blue. It was £80 in Tesco and we had £35 given towards it. We thought that as we had never really bought Tilly a proper pressie before we'd splash out! The idea is that we can use it on days out too when we don't want to lug the SLR around.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 02/03/2008 11:00

good camera LL hope you get lots of great snaps off it

Astro I'm not sure if I'm serious or not? sometimes I just get so annoyed at him, my life would be easier without him to tidy up after too ya know!
I didn't get the cake done last night, as after we got back from dinner and got the kids to bed it was 21:00, so I tried to make a cake, but then discovered a bit of the palet knife I used to scrape the bowl out, appeared to have broken off, so I couldn't risk someone finding a chunk of metal in the cake, so I chucked the lot in the bin I then took my arse to sainsbo's to get another batch of cake butter, as only had enough for one cake, then whislt there, started feeling funny in my tummy got home and had a bout of the trots I appear to be ok this am??? so lord knows what that was???? have made cake and will ice shortly! will be attempting Peppa pig....
Dh was good LL he made breakfast and loaded the dishwasher!! then dd1 made me a card at nursery, plus dh got me cards from the lot of them. Dd1 got me a cuddly hippo (subliminal??) but then has spent the morning suggesting I give it to her , dd2 got me a mug and coaster and ss, bless him has gotten me a lovely bottle of wine I love that boy

Astrophe · 04/03/2008 10:43

FRiz - glad dh came good with mother day - how are things?

I've got DS'stummy bug, slowly getting over it though, should be fine tomorrow, we are having a quiet day at home today - well, quiet apart from DS whinging

laundrylover · 04/03/2008 12:03

Hope your tummies are better Derbyshire ladies.

Friz, you are very adventurous to try Peppa Pig - put a pic on your profile and I may attempt to copy it for Kiah!! Tilly had a half birthday cake on the day itself as was too thin to slice (DP made it in a large tin!)so I had to fold it over. I made buns for her party as was too embarassed to bring out the half cake!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who makes their own cakes - am getting a bit sick of other mums asking why I don't just buy one from the shop.

Had a very scary incident with Tilly on Sun night when she choked on a dried apricot. It did eventually come out after much back banging and hanging upside down but was just on my way to the neighbours for help with her under my arm. I went into shock after and made myself a cup of tea which I then spilt on Tilly's leg with my shaky hands! She was completely fine after, apart from the tea on leg!!!

OP posts:
Astrophe · 04/03/2008 13:58

oh LL, how scary! I'm so glad that she is ok.

I love making birthday cakes for th kids - its my bi-annual creative outlet!

Do post Peppa Pig Friz - DD will be most impressed! She has requested a 'purple party' for June - much easier than Peppa!

Am doing a tractor for DS on Saturday - will post pics after.

Feeling ok - DS is asleep, I sent DD to bed due to extreme whinging - she stayed there for an hour but did not sleep - has come back down in a much better mood though.

I am online with DH's credit card umming and arhing about whether or not to purchace bikes from the amazon sale. I've been told that I really must go to a bike shop and try one out, but I've ridden all my friends bikes, and they are all fine - I am ot at all discerning. Think I will go for it - endless looking on ebay for the past 6 months is getting me down.

Astrophe · 04/03/2008 14:02

oh LL, forgot to say - when DD was 1, I made her a cake to take to toddlers group. It was easy - just a round cake with butter icing and coloured fondant icing letters all over it.

A few mums said 'how lovely' etc, then one mum said "oh well, ha har, don't you have a lot of time one your hands - I wouldn't possibly have the time to decorate a cake har har har" and they all joined in the guffawing.

At the time I was upset, but now I know it was just mum guilt that drove them

I don't suppose our DC really care one way or another do they, so long as there is cake, and plenty of it!

laundrylover · 04/03/2008 14:18

I know Astro - it hardly takes ,ong to knock up a sponge cake and stick some icing on top eh?? That's partly why I'm holding off on the themed cakes - my mum used to make amazing cakes for us and every year we upped the ante.

Look forward to seeing the tractor cake....Kiah went out on the farm on Sun with my Dad and loved it! She stank of cow poo though.
