have maclaren techno xt as was suitable from birth and we went on hols when lo was 6 weeks

I like it bit more substantial than a normal maclaren

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 14/01/2008 15:23

fury there was a baby at weighing clinic recently with a bracelet in the shape of a diamond boxing glove on

HellHathNoFury · 14/01/2008 15:25

ooh andiem can you help me then - were you able to take your techno xt ON the plane or did it have to go in the hold when you got to the door?

OP posts:
andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 14/01/2008 15:31

it had to go in the hold but that is not related to the size of the buggy it is entirely at the discretion of the staff despatching the plane
one of my mates is ba cabin crew and she says it is up to the guy at the plane gate whether or not you can take it on
she had one the other day who let none on but the week before 10 went on
also it depends if it is charter
mark warner don't let anyone take them on as there would be a riot as so many have them they couldn't fit them all in

LittleMissNorty · 14/01/2008 15:37

Hello Hunni's

god what a day...the weather is awful!

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 14/01/2008 15:37

tis sunny here norty

DKMA · 14/01/2008 15:38

Ooh Fury - I've just been looking into that with Jet2 for when we go skiing.
They say collapsible pushchairs can be used right up to steps of plane and then collected at the bottom of steps when you land - I thought that was ok? Dont really need it on the plane?! And it's not getting chukked about with cases etc.
They have a weight limit of 10kg I think - which is ot much (but the Micralite is under that)

DKMA · 14/01/2008 15:39

Oh fook!
that was supposed to say 'chucked' and 'not'

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 14/01/2008 15:41

dkma where are you going skiing we are off to meribel

HellHathNoFury · 14/01/2008 15:42

DKMA - what andiem said.
Apparently I was told they would also only allowed umbrella folds (hence getting the maclaren).
The only reason it matters to me is when I went to the US we had to collect our pram on the baggage conveyer - meaning I had to carry a very heavy tired baby for 1 hour in customs queues and still wait for it to come through.
Ideally I wanted it ready for when I got off!

HellHathNoFury · 14/01/2008 15:54

HellHathNoFury · 14/01/2008 16:00

DH says sell the bugaboo.

I will miss it's easy manouvering and fleecy fabrics.
I will miss it's chunkyness which for a klutz like me was a good thing.
I will miss those rough and ready tyres and the 'take me anywhere' ness of it.

I will not miss the size of the bloody thing, and trying to put it in the boot with shopping.

OP posts:
sputnik · 14/01/2008 16:02

Don't know about charter flights but buggies only normally come out with the other baggage on the conveyer, (unless you're flying to Rome Ciampino, in which case they come out considerably later, wheeled in by the baggage crew when they've finished the rest )

I just ate an apple [virtuous]

sputnik · 14/01/2008 16:04

Ode to an ebayed Bugaboo

HellHathNoFury · 14/01/2008 16:08

I dunno, I go for a walk and you all run away. Are you trying to tell me something? Found you though - ha!

While out went past the old witch lady who lives round the corner who glanced at C and said "Oooh, she's coming on, a right little fatso" . Now yes, she is chubby, but a) aren't babies meant to be? b) how could she tell as C was wearing a sowsuit which only leaves her eyes visible, and c) HOW RUDE!! I wanted to say "Well she is enjoying a wide range of food which will hopefully help stop her being a faddy eater later, but she's not moving yet so yes she is a little chubby, but the HV isn't worried and it'llall even out in the end, and I thought that as a parent and grandparent you would realise this and also know how very rude it is to call someone a fatso." But I thought it was a bit long for a put down.
