nite jammy & els.

quiet again tonight.

Pumpkinhead · 14/01/2008 21:27

Night Jammy. Gonna see if I can persuade DH to give me a foot massage! Night all.

DKMA · 14/01/2008 22:10

Oh bugger - you've all gone to bed!

hurumphhhhhh

I'm tellin ya check out the Micralite toro - I spent ages looking for one that was lightweight, totally fold upable without having to take any bits off, and it has attachments for the maxi cosi carseat, AND you can pimp it up with fleecy liners, winter warmer foot muffs etc, AND it has off road tyres.

Blah blah blah - I'm talkin to myself

Oh - and we are going here skiing for those of you who were asking earlier.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 15/01/2008 08:38

Arrggghhh! DD woke up at 6 this morning, which I'm sure is nothing to most of you but I'm not doing well with lack of sleep, plus I have this thyroid thing which makes me feel knackered even after 8 or 9 hours sleep. So she woke up at 6, fed in bed then went back to sleep and every time I nodded off she would move and wake me up. I don't know how anyone co-sleeps, seriously I would love to do it but I would probably just end up smothering her in a fit of sleep deprivation. So I've been awake for 2.5 hours, and after some more food she seemed like she might go back off, but no, she just started whinging so I have gotten her up and dumped her on the baby gym and am now really irrationally cross with her and I just want to cry, out of tiredness and guilt over being such a mean mummy. She has been waking up earlier and earlier this past week. I'm fed up because it means I have to go to bed at a stupid time like 10pm which means I get very little actual time to myself. My tiredness means that I am vile to DH which causes us lots of arguments. Urrgghhh, what the f* is wrong with me?

Sorry

Pumpkinhead · 15/01/2008 08:39

Ohhh DKMA I'm very jealous of your ski trip. Have you been before? Is is easy with a LO? I've never been skiing but would love to go. I'm trying to think of somewhere to go for the summer actually. Has anyone been to any of the Centre Parks in Europe? They look cheaper than the ones in the UK and I was thinking that it might be a good idea with a baby. What d'ya think?

Pumpkinhead · 15/01/2008 08:53

Sorry to hear your having a hard morning Bumper. There's nothing wrong with you - tiredness does strange things to us all! I don't have any advice for you I'm afraid as my LO is also a very bad sleeper. If she is happy to play on het baby gym for a bit, why dont you make a cuppa and put your feet up for 20mins?

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 15/01/2008 08:56

Thanks pumpkin, she was on the gym, and I have made a cuppa, but I've picked her up and am giving her a cuddle as i feel so bad for being stroppy with her. i just want to get back into bed and have a day off and be a mummy again tomorrow.

thisisRialifebaby · 15/01/2008 08:59

bumper, but don't be sorry. We've all been there. Not a lot of advice though, sorry. I would suggest trying to nap when DD naps during the day (if you can, I sleep better then than at night sometimes, but I know it's not for everyone.)
Getting out in the fresh air for a walk might help, but the weather's crap here, so not worth it if you aren't going to absorb some decent weather.
If she is happy in her cot after the early feed it won't hurt for her to lay and babble/play while you snooze a little, she will be safe.

Hang on in there. Try to explain how you feel to DH too, tell him you know it's not his fault and he can't do anything, but you're grateful for what he does do and you're sorry but being tired makes it hard for you to be your usual self.

HellHathNoFury · 15/01/2008 09:07

I think Daisy went to a europe centre parcs?
I have been thinking about that too but they look just as expensive. I could be wrong. I still have my heart set on some sunshine and all inclusiveness.

DKMA I am not ignoring you about the Toro pram, I looked at it and it does look good but atm I have to work with the 2 I have and not get a 3rd

I will def bear it in mind though if the others don't work out.

I AM SOOOO and
I think I have lost my beloved mobile!
Will see if it's knocking around in the car tonight

FWIW I spend most of my day being very grumpy mummy with DS1 (who lifted baggins out of his walker this morning when he knows damned well he's not meant to, amongst MANY other things), slightly grumpy mummy with ds2, and generally ignoring DH because he's either miserable grumpy git daddy or over-compensating fun daddy, both of which are seriously annoying

I hate to admit I find DS1 the hardest to deal with, I suppose it's his age, and I do feel guilty

HellHathNoFury · 15/01/2008 09:10

Bumper sorry to hear about your sleeping issues.
I know what it's like, I go a bit mental and psycho when I am tired. That's why DH does so much of it, partly because he is a gem, partly because I am not a nice person when I am tired.

Can you try and nap during the day when she does? Is she in her own room? That might help as then you won't hear every movement. My sleep improved tremendously when we moved DS out.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 15/01/2008 09:20

Dh is the same fury! I'm so horrid when I am tired! She is in her own room but just waking up early at the moment (shouting!) she usually feeds then has a sleep in our bed which is fine when she is up at 7.30 as I am ready to be up then, but 6am is too early. If I moved her to put her in her her cot she would wake up and I would be wide awake by then too. I'm not a good napper either. Got to go to dr's re thyroid so will have a chat with her.

Right of to get ready to go to bfing group. Have a good day everyone.

thisisRialifebaby · 15/01/2008 09:52

Nasty grey rainy sky, DH off to hospital, big boys at school, my challenge for this norning is to not take baggins back to bed so I can get on with reading the book I started last night

Housework!

annobal · 15/01/2008 10:02

Horrible day here today - windy and pissing with rain. We were going to go to a group then call in on a friend for lunch but DCs have said they want to stay home today (which suits me) so the tv is on (although will be turned off after Peppa Pig) and we are chilling.

I like the look of a Micralite Toro DKMA - I think if we didn't need a double we would go for it. DS2 hardly ever gets in the buggy but we need the option in case I want to go for a long walk.

I've just sold all DS3s newborn and 0-3mth clothes and made almost £200!!! He did have a lot. Now I'm going to start on the next size. It will be a nice start in his bank account.

annobal · 15/01/2008 10:06

Here is the Tea Cake recipe...

1 pint of strong fair trade tea
200g of Tropical Wholefoods chewy banana chips
125g cranberries or raisins
200g of dates or Tropical Wholefods bogoya bananas
160g demerera sugar
125g chopped walnuts
1 large egg beaten into 2 tbsp of milk
450g self raising flour

I put in 325g of raisins and 200g of apricots and used muscovado sugar and halved it to 80g but will probably take it out next time - you could also substitute the SR flour for a gluten free variety for a wheat-free option.

Method
Soak dried fruit for 90min in well brewed tea. Line roasting tin of 28x23cm (or half of this size) with baking paper & grease the paper with vegetable oil. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread mixture in loaf tin(s). Bake in the centre of preheated oven at 170° for about 60 mins until golden brown on top & springy to touch in centre (put a knife in and if it comes out clean, it's ready). Straight away turn onto a wire rack.

As soon as cool, serve in slices. It is particularly nice thickly spread with butter.

HellHathNoFury · 15/01/2008 10:29

annobal that's so nice to have sold his clothes and give him the money!
I feel bad now, I sold his to buy him new ones. I suppose it's better than him being naked though.

Morning.

Bumper I know you are out but have total sympathy about trying to survive on lack of sleep. Do the best you can and don't feel bad. Sleep deprivation is torture!

Hi Annobel, Pumpking, Fury and anyone out there.

Annobel, where did you sell all the clothes? Ebay? I plan to do that after we have our final baby. But need to get rid of some things now - lack of space is driving me mad.

And could use the money.

sputnik · 15/01/2008 10:34

That sounds delicious Annobal.
Grey and miserable here too, after yesterday's brilliant sunshine.

Sorry about your bad night Bumper. No advice really, as mine wakes early quite a bit (but I kind of half-sleep through it), but sympathy.

annobal · 15/01/2008 10:35

LOL Fury, he is rather cold .

Sold them on ebay Els - PITA but worth it financially.

Meant to say with the cake - I didn't put in the banana chips or dates, just raisins and apricots and increased the amount i put in.

HellHathNoFury · 15/01/2008 10:37

WW is goooodddd

I have lost another 1lb

I lost 5 lbs on my own since Dec 1, and 3lb since starting WW (last week) - so WW is the way to go for me I think

annobal · 15/01/2008 10:38

Yes, sorry about your bad night Bumper. No advice (as ds3 still wakes) but to say that it does get better...

LardyMardyDaisy · 15/01/2008 10:43

hey guys

just dipping in quickly to say thanks for all the lovely facebook messages and texts.

we're off up to scotland tomorrow. Should've gone at the weekend, but babyboo has got a nasty ear infection and chest infection and has been really poorly (temp of 104 for two days). She slepy for seven hours straight last night though which is the longest stretch since she was ill at New Year. I feel nearly human again...yay!

LOLing at all the buggy chat. holly, I hope that is over two dcs and not just with ds!!

With DS I had graco travel system, an urban detour three wheeler, a tiny mothercare stroller and a techno XT. DD had the mothercare hauck infinity thingy (think bugaboo but bigger and bulkier), and now the techno xlr holly sold me which we love to bits (squeaky rear wheels notwithstanding) and i still use DSs wee stroller in the back of the car.

dieting isn't happening for me at the moment. I sooo long to be one of those people who drop stones when they are stressed/upset, but I'm definately in the comfort eating camp. Need to lose half a stone by friday to fit into my funeral trousers though

hi pumpkinhead. we went to CP in belgium (De Vossemerren) in the october hols for a week. Less than half the price of the UK ones and it was fab...if you don't mind rude, chain smoking belgians and a diet consisting of bread, cheese, bread, chips, bread, beer and more bread. The park itself was great though. Lovely facilities though, great for kids and very clean...no smoking everywhere, but you had to run the gauntlet outside all the buildings. We plan on going back this year, but might try France or Holland this time.

Elsbells · 15/01/2008 10:44

That is GREAT Fury!!!

sputnik · 15/01/2008 10:45

That's good Annobal, as I don't like banana chips. I would have to substitute the walnuts too as I'm allergic.

Well done Fury

Elsbells · 15/01/2008 10:46

Hi Daisy
I am sorry but haven't been catching up on old posts so sorry to hear about the funeral. Hugs.
