Well it's nice to know that i'm almost in the 2% who get to six months, even if i will probably have stopped in the next week or so.

Choc - Yeah i think i'm quite happy to slowly reduce BF. Hope you didn't get too wet today!

Sarah - So far i'm just alternating the feeds. I have to say tho that now i've introduced the bottle, she tends to just snack on the boobles and then have a good feed on the bottle. Maybe it's her way of slowly coming off them too. The only time she feeds really well from me now is in the middle of the night. I think she's too knackered to notice that it's booble time and probably only feeds for comfort anyway. Sometimes when i start to nod off in the feeding chair and she's half asleep too, i just swap the boob for a dummy and she's straight asleep again.

Oh and i fed in the pub again today lol.

Jet - awww new babies are so lovely. Very annoying about people trying to get her to use formula. I hope she doesn't listen to them!

LOM - I have to admit that i feel so much happier over the last couple of days and yes, it's a very big weight off! Today for example i had to take the cat back to the vets as an emergency case and had to leave the house there and then. Anyway, DD was due her feed so as DS was off work, i just said to him "you'll have to feed the baby - her feed's in the kitchen and she might not drink it all". That was that and off i went! It was great!

LOL @ oldish gut!!!

Wonderstuff - hope DD sorts herself out soon. I'm sure she'll soon come around to being left but it really does pull at your heart strings when they get themselves in a state, doesn't it.

Loopy - The t-shirt sounds FAB!!!

Well, we'd decided on laminate. We'd more or less chosen unitl I spied some v nice but pricey stuff. We're doing all of our downstairs so there's 45 m sq. The pricey stuff is 350 quid more and we really can't afford it. so we've got this but at 40 % off c'os T charmed the sales guy. I have to say - I find spending large amounts of cash V stressfull.

Off dahn sarff this weekend so will catch up on Tues xx

RGPargy · 01/05/2008 21:25

LOM - the floor looks nice!!! Where abouts darn sarfff are you going? You could be near me!

We're going to a wedding in Bristol. Then we're off to London to stay with our lovely friends in Lewisham in the fair city of Londinium. Am i tight in thinking you're in Kent RG ?

umberella · 01/05/2008 23:18

oops i name changed and forgot to mention !
i was ara previously.

we put phoebe onto solids this week a wee bit early at 21 weeks - so far she's just had a little nibble at a banana for the last few days and has been desperate for me not to take it away from her!

Then I stayed at my folks house last night and came downstairs this morning to find my Dad sharing his porridge with her - i nearly choked and then remembered he just makes it with water (no salt, no sugar, no milk....just like wallpaper paste really - mmmm ) so was fine for her to try a bit.

She now thinks she should be having a little taste of whatever we are eating which is quite funny (must stop munching on crisps and eat healthily now, i thought to myself).

She can roll onto her side now, and yesterday she actually moved deliberately towards the dog by lying on her back and pushing down with her feet, lifting her little bottom off the floor and shuffling it over bit by bit - so sweet!!

wonderstuff - i am dreading the day i've got to leave her at childminder - she's with me virtually all her waking hours so it's going to be tough!!

How is your cat RG??

umberella · 01/05/2008 23:20

just realised my profile had vanished too!

umberella · 01/05/2008 23:21

hmmmm still not there...one moment...

SparklyGothKat · 01/05/2008 23:21

Callum tries to eat whatever we have in our hands too. He loves bananas, puree apples, melon, and bread sticks

umberella · 01/05/2008 23:25

....testing...

umberella · 01/05/2008 23:26

yeehaa, success at last.

sparkly i changed my first 'solids' nappy yesterday - yikes. not looking forward to the proper grown up poos.

SparklyGothKat · 01/05/2008 23:42

I have to 'flush' his liner in the toilet before putting it in the bucket now, because they are nasty now..

RGPargy · 02/05/2008 07:04

LOM - yes i am in Kent. Enjoy your trip!!

Ara/Umbrella (ah-ha!!) - He's not so good at the mo, back in the vets with yet another catheter. We're giving him one last go and then we'll call it a day if he blocks up again while at the vets

Food - yuk @ solids nappies! Cant remember those from DS. Probably selective memory on that one!

hello all

just a quickie as have two very snotty and coughing boys to tend too

Ollie doing great, will be 6 months in a week, weighs in at 15'9, has two bottom teeth, and two top teeth have just cut thru !i stopped breastfeeding a week ago, Ollie went thru the night and i took that as my cue,he will now however take a bottle (MAM brand) , in fact loves a bottle but i have had to cut down on the amount of formula i gave him as he wasn't eating all his food, which he usually munched down, he now has a bottle early morning and mid morning,

other than that i had my first proper hangover last sat night OMG !!!! not to be repeated unless boys covered by babysitter, it was actually DP tho' who spent most of night in bathroom and most of next day in bed

have to go, Ollie in highchair covered in snot and DS1 one tormenting him

Lxxx

SparklyGothKat · 02/05/2008 16:00

guess who has been asked to do some training and become a BF peer support at the BF clinic!!!???

sam86 · 02/05/2008 16:06

hiya all!
rg - well done with the weight witches! i really should go but am nervous of going on my own (as well as finally having to stop buying chocolate sponge cake and those doughnuts you all got me hooked on!). we bought a wii fit last week so im hoping that sorts me out! raimee was the same with the ff- i decided to stop bf in feb as i had gone out with friends a couple of times in jan and feb and she obv had bottles then, and after that when i would come to give her her next feed she would just mess about rather than actually feed too! in the end it was getting to stressful trying to deal with cracked nipps n her not feeding off me that giving her bottles was best way to feed her. must be something they do when they are happy with being bottle fed i suppose! also maybe mine was a self fulfilling prophecy as she hadnt took bottles when we had tried and i never though id get to go out and then she did and didnt want me anymore! well done on getting so far along with the bf i wish i could have gone on longer than 3 months

loopy what buggy did you go for? ive just bought a maclaren triumph coz its so light and its bright pink!

hope your all doing well!

sam x

RGPargy · 02/05/2008 20:37

Sparkly - well done!

SAm - hello! Dont feel bad about 3 months of BF, that's still a thousand times better than loads of women manage!

Ooooo i get to have a lay in on Sunday - the first one in about a months!! I'm sooooo looking forward to sleeping later than 6am!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Just checking in quickly.

sparkly - that's great, are you going to do it?

rg - you are putting me to shame - I ate half a box of Thorntons continental last night (well, they were a birthday present so it's almost a duty!!!)

loopy - love that top!

Great news, William has finally decided his bottle is actually ok and has taken them well at nursery this week, which is a big relief.

Enjoy the long weekend ladies and babies! xx

ChocolateHobnob · 03/05/2008 09:46

Jet, were you using the bottles with the Avent magic spouts?

RG, I can't stop eating. Am blaming bf. Interestingly I am not gaining weight, but then nor am I losing it. Ho-hum.

Loopy I love the top too! what pushchair did you get?

News from here: Rebecca can sit up really well now unsupported. She was doing it a little bit last week but suddenly as of Thursday she can sit on her own for at least five minutes - sometimes up to 15. Result. She also has white teeth showing through, two showing at top, and one at bottom, but not quite here yet. I had thought she was hungry at night and had been feeding her, but I now realize she was crying with her teeth so she gets teething powder and relaxes.

OK, hope you're all well! Have a good Sat all. I'm off for a hot chocolate and some cake...

jetgirl · 03/05/2008 17:45

choc - yes, and now he's happy with the teats too. it's nice to have a bit flexibility!

RGPargy · 03/05/2008 18:21

Oh i know what you mean about the eating thing. I have days where i just want to eat and eat but thankfully we dont have chocolate in the house or it would be fatal!!!! Good ol' breadsticks and snack a jacks lol.
