theurbandryad We moved the week before christmas, so really know how you are feeling! Still have about 5 boxes left to unpack, and I reckon they will stay just where they are for quite some time

Finally have the living room sorted out, and our bedroom, apart from a stack of about.. erm... 5 boxes along one wall.. is also pretty much done too.

Have you moved far from where you already live? We had a really HUGE MAMMOTH move, from........... the ground floor flat, to the basement flat. still, a moves a move, and still involved packing up our entire home, and unpacking it again!

Isobel is used to it now, but took the first week to get used to her bedroom ( she was in with us until this move) and was not sure about her cot being in this new strange flat. She loves it now, and still explores every day. She'll even crawl into a room without us in it now

anyway, will pop back again, and how to catch some of you. my new years resolution is to actually keep intouch with you all!

vinorouge · 29/12/2007 18:46

e&h those play tents are so much nicer than the one pils got for ellen for xmas I shouldn;t moan cos they are getting us the exact digital radio we asked for. When we move the kitchen diner is on ground floor and we decided we don't want a tv cos we will just get in habit of tv while we eat. I may convert to radio 4 in the daytime (I quite like some of the stuff on it.....old fogie that I am)

Lizz - hope you are all better soon. The 4th viewer is already buying our house - 2 viewings pre-offer and 2 since. I was out but DH joked with her and her mum that she better not change her mind. Congrats on your betty jackson bargains too!!!

Wilkie - hope you are enjoying your curry.

MrsC - how is the mastitis now? The dorothy slippers sound so cool.

Kat - party sounds cool.

My new next directory has arrived today so gonna see what I might like to buy. Might like being the correct phrase at the moment.

vinorouge · 29/12/2007 18:48

Susie !!! I can't believe how tiny Isobel was!! Glad your dh made it home for christmas sounds like you had a lovely time in the end.

susiecutiemincepies · 29/12/2007 20:53

She was tiny vino. I had to be induced as my back pain got to the point that i couldnt even stand to pee, which was pretty rotten really. Her growth had also slowed down.

I listen to radio 4 alot in the day too - doesn't make you an old fogie

we also dont like the habit of watching tv and eating, so are pretty good at switching off at meal times. Sometimes if there's something really really important such as ... Eastenders, then the rule does get broken

Always have R4 on in the morning, until womans hour over, then always at 18:30 for the comedy. Often stick it on more in the day too. I get FAR too sucked into day time tv otherwise. I do find Philip and Fern too addictive, and hard to miss.. cant believe i've just said that! so, best i dont turn it on in the first place!

Good luck with the selling and moving!

Have any of you ever tried taking goats rue to help milk production? I've read good things about it. Just, we have been cutting back on the breast feeding to the point its only really properly twice a day, if that. But, Isobel is not well again, and wont eat much, if anything, and also not wanting any bottles or cups. so i'm feeding her more again, only, I know there's not a lot of milk there now, despite the increased feeding, its not increasing my supply. Any of you know anything about Goats Rue or those milk plus supplements/ teas? thought i'd give it go... ( have posted in br feeding section too )

Shimmer · 29/12/2007 21:50

Hi all. Susie I love Phillip & Fern too, wish I had more time to watch day-time TV! Haven't even had time to listen to radio 4 recently either. When I lived up in York we bought a dilapidated old house and I spent weeks sanding, stripping (wallpaper!!) and painting listening to radio 4. Bliss!!

Had a good Christmas here, everyone well (though F and i both have colds now ) and happy so all good.

I haven't thought what to get F for his birthday yet... and it's only just over a week away... He's just had SO many presents and Xmas, there can;t be any toys he doens't own yet! The activity cube that DP and I got F for Xmas arrived broken so it's being exchanged for a new one, which is arriving by courier on the 8th, his birthday! So that might become his birthday present now!

Right think 'll get off to bed now. i've been completely knackered the last few days. Been at work for 7am the last 2 mornings. It means I get home just after 4, so i get to spend more time with F, BUT it also means I am on the go CONSTANTLY from 6am til bedtime! I completely sympathised with your post RGee about occasionally feeling you?re on the verge of a nervous breakdown!! F is really tiring at the moment as well as he is very nearly walking properly and LOVES walking around, but is still quite wobbly really and will walk a good distance but always eventually topple over and fall flat on his face, so I feel I have to follow him around everywhere, just to make sure he doesn?t really hurt himself (which he has done several times anyway, poor chap. He walked straight into the side of the oven this evening and now has ANOTHER huge bruise on his forehead). I don?t really feel like I can just let him fall as we have wood and stone flooring and he actually walks quite fast and really hurts himself when he crashes. Are the rest of you spending hours everyday chasing around after Los, trying to catch them??? Or am I being ridiculous?

Lizzzombie · 29/12/2007 22:55

Hi Shimmer - havent seen you on here for ages! Hope all is well. I spend my entire day checking to see where LO is, and what he is getting into. climbing onthings seems to be the latest thing. Especially climbing on the carefully erected TV guard (coolbox and toybox and chair) - to get right up close to the tv!

Susie - ahhh - 4lbs something, she must have been sooooo cute. We had a 3 wk old baby boy in work today who was 5.7lbs and he was soooo diddy still!

Eah - we really should meet up in the new year for definate!

Wilks...eerie, but I think the MN Jan thread in sync lunar calendar is at work again this month! Got my period this morning...pass the chocolate...I've scoffed all my xmas treats! x

eandh · 30/12/2007 08:37

morning - well def the synch thing as I am on at the mo as well

shimmer I dont tend to follow hattie around much as shes quite steady now and has seemed to have learnt to either land on her bum or put her hands out. Also Ellie tends to save her quite alot (a benefit for having an older child I suppose

susie - glad dh got home ok and enjoy your week, cant help on the bf question as both of mine were bottle fed from the start. My nephew was born weighing 4lb (36weeks) and he was tiny tiny and my neice was 5lb4oz at 39 weeks so my sil produces small babies!

Lizz I hav taken soem pis of the dolls house - will email them to you to show you my curtain making skills and at meet up (if it involves shopping I'll have to get some batgains!)

Parents picking E up at 10.45 then just me, dh and hattie not sure what we are going to do yet. I got Hattie a butterfly canopy thingy from next sale (matches her bedroom range) it was reduced to £5 and fitted it up last night, it looks very 'princess' like according to Ellie who is sulking because she wants one (we are redoing her room later in the year and I'll get her one then)

Wisdom tooth

Moan moan moan whimper sympathy please

(ps, not tried goats rue, but have heard fenugreek also good for boosting supply; and avoid sage which reduces supply) ((pps also a R4 saddo, or R2, depending))

Passes eandh bunch of flowers for being so lovely!

Wilkie · 30/12/2007 19:09

I echo what LAL says - J is doing my FRIGGING head in ATM. All he has done for the past 5 days is whinge and moan and cling to my leg, scream when I leave the room. He is driving me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but I still love him - if any of my mates were like this I would have dropped them AGES ago )

Trying to remember what everyone has written...

Shimmer - I don't follow J everywhere, my motto is that if they fall, they learn to be more careful next time . He is constantly walking into things and toppling over but I have to say, he just picks himself up and carries on. He has always got a bruise of some description on his forehead. (am I a bad mother?!?!?!)

DH has just announced he is horny. He can SOD OFF. I have such humongous PMT

Curry night was FANTASTIC last night. We had a lovely meal, then went back to our mates house (all 6 of us were stopping over) and did SingStar on their Playstation (it is a karaoke game which you compete against each other as to who is most in tune etc). It was great. I caned them all Hee hee

2 Happy - sympathies on the wisdom teeth. I still haven't got three of them!

EAH - we have a similar playtent for J. He loves it in the garden in the summer too.

Susie - that is SO teeny. Do you have any photos you could put on your profile so we can nosy?

Right. First of all, can I apologise for the mamoth post!

We had a good Christmas, LOADS of presents and I too have no clue where they are all going to go. I will have to have a massive clear out i the new year.

Just about managed at the ILs which is pretty good considering I was down there for 2 weeks! Only a few niggles with them contradicting me in front of Luke and ignoring me when I asked them not to do stuff like get Ruth giddy just before bed time and SIL being pathetic as usual but not toooo bad. Said to DH that it is the last time we are going away for christmas as Luke was pretty unsettled and tired and moany for a lot of it as he doesnt sleep well at ILs house. Also pretty hard for him with everyone coming and going and us sorting dad out before christmas. He got quite clingy which is not like him at all. Usually he doesnt care if I am there or not!

Been running around since we got back seeing my family so it hasn't calmed down here either. Whoever is my secret santa, I am soooooo sorry but I havent had a chance to pick up your present yet as DH been working whenever they are open so dont have the car. Thank you in advance and will pick it up tom hopefully as DH only working a half day (if they are open!). Not being rude not saying thanks xxx

Luke has been having really bad dreams at night. They were really bad when we were away and seem to be getting worse. If any of you with older los have had this prob, I would be grateful of any advice as I am getting to my wits end with it, and he is so upset. I have just put a night light i his room which seems to be helping a bit.

Rgee- Glad you liked the watch and that it got there in time. I know what you mean about doing the organising for everything. Feel like everything is on top of me at the moment and Luke is being such a pain. I seem to spend my time saying 'no Luke' 'dont do that LUke' or a variation all day! Hope you have a good time away and that P has a good bday tomorrow.

Urban- Hope all is well with the house move and that Z is feeling better.

Smallone- Hi! Not been posting much myself atm but I know what you mean about feeling weird that it is a year.

Wilkie- Sorry about the job at Pontefract. Hope something comes up soon. Ruth will drink formula, but tried her on full milk afew times as plan to swap as soon as I can and she just spits it out like it is sour! Glad you had a good night out.

Pink- I have got Ruth a dolls house from ELC. She loves Luke's castle which is the same range so thought she would like it. I bought her a rag doll for Christmas and she just threw it aside and tried to wrestle Luke's megablocks Crane set off him! Or pull his train set apart. Think she might be a tomboy!

Mrs Carrot- at mastitits for christmas. Hope you are feeling better now.

Ratbunny- Swimming lessons is a lovely idea for present. I havent plucked up the courage to take the two of them swimming yet so DH has taken them separately when he has been off. Nice for him to have the time alone with them though.

Lizz- Being sick at christmas is my worst nightmare! Hope you are all over it now. Ruth is just about crawling now in a bum-shuffly-throw-yourself-back-and-roll-then-sit-up-and-rock-on-her-hands-and-knees sort of way. So think she will prob be the last one to walk here! Hope DJ is ok and that you get to make up for having now birthday night out (and happy birthday for last week).

Kat- belated happy birthday to dd.

EAH- Sorry los have been so ill over christmas. Luke and Ruth got one thing after another before christmas and it really got me down. Hope you are coping ok. x

Susie- Hope you are all settled after the move. I am dreading ever having to move. Inevitable when we have our third though I suppose.

Shimmer- I love my playpen! ALthough I dont really have the problem of following Ruth as she moves at a snails pace!

2happy- Not more turkey! Hope it has gone now! Sympathy re the wisdom teeth. They are a bugger. Made me really feel sorry for los when they are cutting a mouthfull!

Laughalot-Ruth is not being clingy but when ever a stranger or someone she has not seen for ages comes in, she goes mental sreaming her head off, then after about 5mins is all smiles again. ANd dont get me started on LUke!!

Vino- Hope you are feeling ok and E isnt tiring you out too much. When I was preg with Ruth, Luke was still having naps so at least I got at least an hour sit down in the day. Not sure what I will do this time!

Hello to everyone else and hope you had a good christmas xxx

Dragonhart · 30/12/2007 21:27

OK, so I have one more bit of news. I can settle who is next to get preg after Vino.

Me.

Still early days as I am due very end of Aug so not as sensible as Vino and waiting for the scan, but I figured that if anything bad happened I would want to talk you you lot about it so you may as well know early. After all, I was posting this early with Ruth.

I am shitting it a bit as there will be 20 months between Ruth and this baby, all being well. WIth the 17.5 month gap between LUke and RUth, I think I will have my hands full (as if I dont already!)

Shimmer · 30/12/2007 22:01

Ohhh congratulations DH!!

I'm suddenly feeling a bit broody at the moment Pretty sure no hope of trying til well into next year though.... humpf.

vinorouge · 30/12/2007 22:18

Oooh congrats DH!!! Glad we are both in same boat that was a mammoth post! I am ok, just tired a lot but not sure whats normal tiredness and pg tiredness iykwim. DH I am impressed you managed two weeks at ILs

DH was out last night and I read a book, a chick lit type novel from the librbary. I've barely read this year but read 2 books in last 2 weeks so pleased with self.

We are off to Filey tomorrow for a nice walk and mess about on the beach. I have even checked the tide times in advance! Gonna have fish and chips for lunch too. Excited Vino

Made 2 puds tonight ready for tomorrow cos going to a friends house. Raspberry trifle and delias choc truffle torte. Also taking mozz/tom/basil salas. There will be 8/9 of us for a help yourself 3 course feast. Ellen will just stay up til she's tired and then sleep in her pushchair downstairs (they have a 3 storey house).

E&H I like the sound of the princess bedrooms.
Wilkie - E is a bit clingy sometimes when we get to new people/places but is ok at home
Shimmer - yep I am another constantly chasing E cos she is such an explorer and I don't seem to have ellen proofed the house yet. She has worked out how to open all the kitchen cupbaords now

bunnyhohohunny · 31/12/2007 00:12

congrats dh!!!!! that is fantastic news

and as for being in synch, I am getting due on cramps and other stuff (not going for the tmi..)

just watched I am Legend at the cinema and it was great. Will Smith did a 'working' out bit, though which dh was tutting, but I had my eyes glued to the screen

We got 4 (!!!!) ride on toys in the house now - got 3 for christmas! So we exchanged one for a slide and a noahs ark. The slide is ace - he slid down it, clapping his hands! he now has so many bloody toys, I have decided to stash some and cycle them, otherwise he flits from 1 thing to the next.. hmm, might stash them in the bin

Put the night garden on today and S squealed in delight! Bless him! He now sleeps with iggle piggle as well as his monkey.

btw, I was having a flick 'through what to expect the toddler years' and it looks like we have some fun ahead - climbing out of cots and over stairgates, and running away in shops. I can't wait and that's without the 'no' word becoming used even more frequently....

bunnyhohohunny · 31/12/2007 00:14

and can I be the first to wish pippa a happy birthday (my prize for going to bed late!!)

eandh · 31/12/2007 07:34

CONGRATS dragaonhart (you are braver than me ) oooo thats 2 people now who is next??????????

Happy Birthday Pippa (dams bunny going to bed late and beating me)

Am off to work so I'll try and post from there later

OP posts:
Lizzzombie · 31/12/2007 11:11

Congratulations DH! Fab news!

Am reading "extreme motherhood - triplet diaries" at the moment, so anyone who has just one baby as a singleton doesnt impress me much anymore...(Wilks - am passing this on to my sister afterwards too, so she can have a reality check on her DTs!)

Bunny - I'm too scared to see "I am Legend" it looks really scarey!

Wilks - Am taking singstar to my mates house tonight for NYE!! But, have a feeling that with 4 babies asleep upstairs its not gonna get played. I love it! Its my favourite game ever in the whole world, but I never get to play as its a bit noisy! (or maybe thats just me catterwalling!)

Ok - have just had my last ever Belgian Bun. I have to loose weight in the new year. And I am going to be really good from tomorrow onwards.

Hope you all have a great time tonight. Anyone doing anything interesting?

  • see you all next year! x
eandh · 31/12/2007 11:44

We are staying in as dh working tomorrow 5am start so we'll be in bed beofre new year - however, my brother is proposing tonight we are all at my parents for dinner tomorrow so they'll tell everyone then (ring is gorgeous white gold and diamond band with diamond solitaire I am very )

I am going to Marks at lunch time to get some nice food for us to have for dinner and dh suggested we lay the table up nicely and turn the tv for a few hours so am quite looking forward to it now (not really a lover of new year celebrations)

Lizz - I am reading 'how to raise a spirited child' I swear the authour is writing it about Ellie it is her behaviour/tempremant (sp) etc am just getting to the part aboutr dealing with the spirited child so fingers crossed its the answer I have been looking for (I'll join you on the healthy eating thing I lost 10lb in a month in oct/nov put it back on plus a bit more )

Happy New Year to everyone
