I'm not joking! I can hear the cot being moved across the floor above me right now.

It looks very unimpressive csws. The new ceilings hide all the work above, and everything else has been replastered. He's putting in pipes under the floor for the new bathroom now, so that doesn't look very interesting, either.

CantSleighWontSleigh · 11/12/2007 22:09

Can you see the new layout now though?

Jas - have you seen that QP/LOW is pregnant?

EachPeachPearMum · 11/12/2007 23:23

Hi- had a Christmas meal out with a mummys group this eve which was lovely

csws- I saw the freestanding larder cupboard from habitat 'in person' today- its quite nice- solid oak. The wider side has 5 adjustable wooden shelves, and the smaller side has 5 adjustable larder pull-out shelves. I was quite impressed, but I don't have anywhere to put it. We have quite a lot of Habitat furniture, and it has been good quality, and long-lasting. That said, it was mainly purchased before they were bought by ikea. It seemed reasonably built though, and there is another unit that is actually a bathroom unit, but would be perfect for herbs, spices, sauces etc, which is also in oak (though a mix of solid oak and veneer).

EachPeachPearMum · 11/12/2007 23:26

erm.... am I being thick? Is LOW QP????????

WeFrizYouaMerryChristmas · 11/12/2007 23:50

Whose QP? congrats to her tho!

Jas, yay for clean carpets, one of these years mine will be done (CSWS if you think your carpet was bad, you'd laugh your socks off at mine) its so bad, that when I moved the sofa to hoover the other day, dd1 asked me to leave the sofa there, so she could play on the nice bit

Have been to Hula Aerobics tonight, am lethal with a hoop poor lass behind me got a narrow escape not once, but twice, when it came to the hand exercises luckily she'd come along with another mate of mine, so I could grovel afterwards as well, whilst chatting to other mate...... I think I may ache tomorrow....and I have to go to another class tomorrow night, as the person on the other side of me was tomorrow nights instructor who was wondering where I was last week (xmas dinner!) still I may get a stomach back if I keep this up eh!

dh v's dd2 earlier, he's discovered that she'll happily sit on the naughty step rather than go to bed the hard way.....he's settled on shutting the bedroom door to keep her in it (I was out, right!) Just hoping she doesn't try to get in our bed at 3am again

WeFrizYouaMerryChristmas · 12/12/2007 00:14

Oooooh! nearly forgot, the oddest thing happened over night, the boiler fixed itself we woke to a warm house! even the plumber is flumoxed, although it could be a faulty circuit board, but we'll not know unless it happens again! hurrah money saved for now

EachPeachPearMum · 12/12/2007 00:34

Wow! Hula aerobics! Wow! (can't say anything else to that LOL)

But Yay for the boiler! Its so cold now, was feeling and cold for you all!

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 12/12/2007 08:04

Hurrah for possessed boiler and Jas's improving house.

QP is Quootiepie... anyone else feeling a bit concerned about it? How are things there now? (If you're reading QP - concerned in a worried about you caring way, not bitchy if that makes sense?)

The tree thing is looking like it was my secret santa gift. AIBU to be a bit and about it? I signed up to this thing on another site so I had just one thing to open on Christmas day without having any idea what it was. Something someone had gone out and chosen for just me (I was meant to get that from DH but ended up using it for the xmas do). Instead, I have a blank card that wasn't even sent directly from my giver, that doesn't even have a message in it. Feeling a bit ripped off tbh. I'm sure a tree would be lovely. I would be happier had it come wrapped with a message I'm just horrible and ungrateful aren't I?

Mum had DD overnight last night, so no school run today, just got to drop DS at nursery in a minute and then have a straight run at work and sorting my MN santa things to get them posted out.

TEUCHywithallthetrimmings · 12/12/2007 08:29

G'morning ladies. Can't believe how dark it is still Oh well, I have a 'jammies 'til daylight' policy in the winter anyway...

Flame, I totally understand where you are coming from - perhaps the person didn't really 'get' the whole point about having something nice? It's one of those gifts that make the giver feel better rather than the getter IYKWIM! Unless, of course, you recently posted about your lifelong dream of having a tree somewhere that you couldn't actually see it... [hmmm] NO, I would also be horrible and ungrateful

DS has turned into a monster child...I'm really getting bored of the 'shup up' thing and he has started putting HIMSELF on the naughty step so even that won't work...

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 12/12/2007 08:45

Oooo, haunted boiler!

Well, QP didnt look that happy at various points during the do, I thought. But who knows.

So, give me an idea of hula aerobics? Do you ever actually let go (potentially lethal!), or is it just like using weights but with somw twisty things too?
I've been to areobics 2 nights runnnig, because I can get a chance to go again till next Monday. Can almost feel the lovely ache kicking in! Actually, last night was nice because there were only 5 people there. So my lack of coordniation and inability to stay in one place diidnt matter so much I'm going to take ds1 again next week as a pre xmas treat!

Lots of frost here this morning. Very disinclined to go out to nursery!

CantSleighWontSleigh · 12/12/2007 08:46

Lol (but sympathetically) at putting himself on naughty step.

I agree flame. Fair enough if it was someone who had everything, but not a good gift for someone who needs/wants lots of things.

I do know what you mean about QP, but I haven't read much (if anything) about her situation recently, so I really don't know if things are better or not. I certainly hope so though if they are having another dc.

Do you know QP then EPPM? I wouldn't have thought you'd been around for long enough.

Re kitchen cupboard - we are going to have some fitted (similar to our kitchen units, but not quite the same as they don't make them any more) instead now, but thank you for thinking of me .

You could always join the Wednesday Women instead mrm .

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 12/12/2007 08:51

Flame, what kind of secret santsa was it? What site? Is it tihe same principle as the xmas appeal on here, or like a proper secret santa? If the latter, how much/what did you spend/do for the giving bit of oyurs? Just so I can compare to a tree! If its more like the xmas appeal, I can see how you feel its an oddish idea, but you're not really in a position to whinge about it I knowe what you mean about pressies though. I will get one or two bits of tat from my Mum (usually pointless novelty items or socks) and I already know that dh has got me 2 items from Boots that were £8 each (one classes as free in the 3 for 2; the other item being saved for my birthday). So no suprises for me/. We've already opened our pressie from Dad; the years sponsorship of an orphaned orangutan Oh, and we'll prob get a pressie from our old neightbour, but I can guarantee that 'll be a £10 John Lewis voucher for me and for dh, so no suprises there!

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 12/12/2007 08:53

Would love to be a Wed woman, but that'd be even longer in the cold, plus ds1 would be bound to tell his teachers he was just on the skive

Sorted the loft noise; it was the secondary glazing on ds2's window

PhoeNixYouAMerryChristmas · 12/12/2007 08:54

Went to Take That last night it was soooooooooo good I want to go again . Just very tired today we didn't get to bed til after 1 and ds was awake at 7.

I'm working at 10.30 again today so i should really think about getting in the bath.

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 12/12/2007 08:58

Thanks!! If I can get cbeebies off, I'll isten! BTW, I want a word with you.... I'm sure it was you that said something along the lines of 'dont worry, he wont fiddle with the tree once the inital excitement has worn off' If i have to replace the baubles once more....

CantSleighWontSleigh · 12/12/2007 09:55

Oh don't mrm - we're getting our tree on Friday.
I have a small surprise pressie for you, so you'll have to stop that moan now too (and no, we're not expecting pressies from you before you worry about that ).

Yay for take that. Sounds like you got as much sleep as I've been considering a good night since dd was born Phoenix .

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 12/12/2007 10:20

It is an earthy mums type site (lentil weavers galore), it was your proper secret santa thing - you give a gift, you get one from someone else. It is a £5 budget (cards cost £4.50 apparently).

There was even a likes and dislikes bit though (everyone was putting "tat" as dislikes btw ) - mine said...

"Likes - most things ('cept truffles)

Dislikes - tat as well, oh and cards - just bung a note on a bit of paper in it or summat if you want to put in a note, don't give me a card that I then feel guilty about not displaying "

So they specifically sent me just a card!?!!?!?

I have been trying to think if I have any friends who would appreciate a tree so I could write on it and pass it on , but no, all my friends tend to like actual presents... and the only one who might have liked it I have ranted to about it

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 12/12/2007 10:23

Can you really do the tree thing for a fiver? What good value

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 12/12/2007 10:38

www.treetwist.co.uk

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 12/12/2007 10:41

here the sparkly ones are pretty... I got the red one

If it isn't the secret santa (they made it sound like it was) then I am very happy with a tree - tis the idea that I'm not getting a present to open when I was expecting one that irked and the no personal message or anything

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 12/12/2007 10:51

Yep, just been looking at them. They're very nice. But I'd want a message! Are you saw the company didnt mess up and forget to include a meaaege that was asked for? My mum sends us floers sometimes where you just have the messege printed out.

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 12/12/2007 10:57

99% sure - the card wasn't even open, it was like it would be if you bought it and it went straight to you.

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 12/12/2007 16:09

Tree issue sorted and I am mean and horrible and got all wires crossed

There was a bit of ribbon that fell out (I found it on the floor just now) - it turns out that I wasn't sent a card.... it is a tree decoration! I love random things on the tree - they were sending me a decoration and a planted tree and I actually really like that!

Tis my own fault because I have now read the back of the card properly and have realised it does say it is a decoration

So.... gonna email the treetwist people and tell em to set it up differently! Tis clearly their dispatch method that is crap.
