xpost Mae - don't feel inadequate sweetheart! It's not your fault - just one of those freaky things. Some kids sleep through from one week old and others take years, who knows what's going through Dom's little head - might be separation anxiety, teething, nightmares... Don't beat yourself up about it. Ry sometimes has the odd night like that and we either end up bringing him in with us or ignore him... When he was still expecting bfeeds I'd send DP though with a cup of milk so he got the message that I wasn't at his beck and call! Seemed to work at that stage (when he was around 9 months). Anyway big hugs and don't worry - you're a fantastic mummy. Impy xxx

Is the book you are talking about How to talk so kids willl listen etc? It is a good book, I need to reread it though! I am finding myself using things from it with Leo when he is having a tantrum because he wants/wants to do something that he isn't allowed

Poor kayley. xxx

Sleep here is finally starting to get better. Leo is now in his big brother's room and usually only wakes once[fanfares and trumpets emoticons] and I bf him back to sleep. Mornings are a bit hit and miss, but he doesn't usually wake at 4.30am now. Somewhere between 5 and 6 is normal.

TheGoddessBlossom · 06/02/2008 09:23

Hi Wallace! Toby is between 5-6 every morning too. It is what it is.

You know what Spin, you preen away, because I too feel a bit preeny myself, while I'm reading it, as I think I do do quite a lot of the technicques already too, (obviously lose it as well with them, but nevertheless). So as well as the tips I AM picking up, it is also serving to reinforce my confidence as a parent, and give me self esteem as a mother in that I am already doing SOME things right at least.

Have sent poo boy to nursery today, but did say to them if he gets really explosive nappies to call me and I'll come get him. Hopefully I'll have had my 1-2-1 pipeline discussion with my boss by then (a very short conversation I can assure you ) and can slope off fairly unnoticed.

It's my birthday tomorrow. All very quiet on DH's side on this front, I know he "knows" it's tomorrow, but will he actually remember to buy me a card today? Does he intend to make me a cake? Do you know I nearly told the nursery so that they could have had the boys make me a card, but that would have been a bit sad wouldn't it...would have guaranteed me at least one though....we will see...

Hope play date goes well Spin.

Morning ladeez

A better night, but not much improvement really skin-wise. I'm thinking of knocking it on the head and trying something else, but they say it needs time... well great, but I want it to work NOW!

Mae, please don't feel inadequate, my sweet, we all have days where we think we can't cope and want to shout and scream and run away (and frequently do the first two), but you are doing brilliantly, Mae, and you are Dom's Mummy and no one could do it any better. And burn those fecknig books (except Bloss's one of course!). You are Mummy and you know best. I can't give you any advice re the sleep patterns, as you know I am a lost cause with Kayley! But it will get better, I promise, Joey was the same, and one night, at 20 months, he slept through. Just like that. It will work eventually. Keep telling yourself that. And me.

HC, half a lb is Nothing! You probably just need a poo...

Impy, hope you and Ry are on the mend. at what your ex-boss said about pets! Obviously child-less. Idiot.

Spin, sorry but I can't really feel sorry for your night of non-sleep! What, a three hour nap, AND she usually sleeps though???
I hope you can do it gently though, and she settles again. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I think it's probably worse when you are used to a good night's sleep and then to have a broken one, at least me and Mae are expecting to be awake forever and don't know what it's like to slumber peacefully til morn... sorry! I really hope she settles for you!!

Wallace, glad things are improving for you too.

Bloss, you make sure you drop some hints today! Like send him a text saying you're going for a pre-birthday coffee or something. They just can't be relied on you know! Then again he might have a humongous surprise up his sleeve!!!

Right, I better go, I do waffle on for hours. Someone shut me up puleese.

TheGoddessBlossom · 06/02/2008 12:26

I openly rang him and said "don't forget to go birthday card shopping on your way home" etc and he replied with "England game tonight". Deep joy.

ImpyChica · 06/02/2008 16:08

I'm sure he's just winding you up Bloss! He's bound to spoil you tomorrow... hope you have a fab day!

Have bought that book about "how to talk to your child" on the strength of all your positive feedback! (Along with Northen Exposure Series 3 and Black Books box set - so excited! Spanish TV is so dire that we're constantly buying old tv series - DP is on a The Sweeney obsession at the mo!)

Ry seems much better, thankfully. Back to work tomorrow... ho hum... have enjoyed being a SAHM these past couple of days...

TheGoddessBlossom · 06/02/2008 20:15

Toby just vommed all over the cream £70 Next rug in his bedroom which now resides in the Wheelie bin, I cannot face srubbing it (black mark against Goddess status) When is this bug going to go away? Not going out for birthday celebs on Saturday night now as baby sitter (MIL) caught T's bug last weekend!

Oh well, have a nice night in anyway.

MaeWest · 06/02/2008 20:40

Urgh Bloss, sorry things are still pukey there, and bad news about the birthday outing. Hope T shakes it off soon.

Thanks Impy & Annie, was having a major feeling sorry for myself session yesterday . I went to bed really early and got some kip in whilst DH dealt with DS (who woke up 40 mins after he'd gone to sleep, grr). Feeling much more positive today as less knackered, had a full day of toddler group in the morning and feeding the ducks this afternoon (DS loves to quack) in glorious sunshine

ceebee74 · 06/02/2008 21:27

Just a quickie to say Happy Birthday to Bloss - not sure if I will get on tomorrow.

Sorry about your rug - kids always do it in the most inappropriate places and times.

Anyway, have a fab day tomorrow (tis also DH's birthday tomorrow so we are going out for tea after work )

Happy Birthday Bloss! Hope it is a good one.

Puke city chez Humphrey this morning. Emma has thrown up everywhere so won't be going to school. Sophie still has a bad chesty cough/cold. Ho hum!

Better drink my tea-have reheated twice so far. Took 3 attempts to make Sophie some toast.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOSS!!!
Hope you get a big surprise, you deserve it.

Morning HC, hope the girls are better soon.

KZ thanks for the offer, is it this stuff Paw Paw?? If so, I can buy it online, there's no need for you to go to the trouble of sending it, bless you, you are a darling.

Another crap night last night, plus Joey woke as well. She just hacks at her hands. Plastered on about four bucketfuls of cream, and still scratched. DH took her out to the living room and watched Peppa Pig at around 3am. She got distracted and eventually stopped scratching, and fell asleep. For a bit.
Her face is still just as bad this morning, so I phoned the 'Dr', and they told me to stop using the tea, it may be too strong for her, and just use the ginseng cream... so they're basically just trying different things without knowing what they're doing. Just like me. I'll give it two days (again).

Hi Mae! Glad you got a bit of a kip anyway!

Best go, nearly time for lunch. What, tuna? Again?

Happy Birthday Bloss!!

PixelHerder · 07/02/2008 15:46

Happy Birthday Bloss !! Have a good day (and a few glasses tonight). Hope Toby's better today.

God the footie was dull last night - I actually don't mind watching England matches usually, but NOT when Location Location's on, grrr!!

Hi to everybody, will catch up soon xxx

ceebee74 · 07/02/2008 16:39

Hi everyone

Just a quickie - I have realised that Lysette hasn't posted for quite a while - hope you are ok. Can anyone remember if she said she was going away?

I am away this weekend visiting my new nephew (can't wait to hold a baby again! Although he is 8 weeks and weighs 14lb 10 already ) so hope you all have fab weekends.

kbaby · 07/02/2008 16:40

Hi,
Happy Birthday Bloss- Hope its been a good one.

Cant be long as I can here DS playing with the dvd's next door which means even more scratched films. Hes off in there sulking as he keeps trying to climb over my head when im mumsnetting.

Right I can here the covers clicking open now, catch you later

soph28 · 07/02/2008 16:49

Hi girls!

Happy Birthday Blossom- hope you have a lovely day and that Toby is better now!

I know it's been ages since I posted on here but I'm still around. The size of this thread always daunts me though!! I've read the last page of messages but that's it!

I'm very happy cos Chloe FINALLY started walking and has been doing so for the last 10 days or so. It's so nice to be able to go out and let her actually walk rather than trailing around the mud on her bottom!

Just out of interest what do your lo's all weigh now?

jacobandlysetteandabump · 07/02/2008 17:05

hey everyone!

happy birthday bloss - hope your DH spoils you rotten, you certainly deserve it! how is T doing with the poo bum?

HC how is em with her sicky and soph with the cough?

Mae you are doing brilliantly! and you can feel sorry for yourself whenever you like tbh

Annie how are things with DH? we were on soya milk for jacob for a while as he gets really congested with cows milk, but we've tried him on lactofree (lactose removed from cows milk) which you can buy fresh or long life and he seems absolutely fine on it. also i have heard the paw paw stuff is brilliant too. def worth a try i reckon. alternatively (long shot though i think) cranial osteopathy?

sorry not to have been on for so long but our laptop has died been reincarnated died and now been fixed properly (fingers crossed!) so back online again! thanks for asking after me everyone!

jacob has had a really horrid chest infection which he has kindly given to me and is now really a head cold but is just doing me in... he is o n2nd lot of antibiotics and is shaking it kind of but.....

about cough mixtures we find that the tyxilix (sp) baby syrup still works fine for jacob and the night time stuff is dreadful - it's supposed to help sedate them a bit but it was the worst nights sleep - he woke up at 1030 and wouldn't go back to sleep till 230! and we are still co-sleeping when he wakes up in the night, although we have had 3 nights of sleeping all the way through, but going to sleep is a major issue at the moment - MUST be held till asleep WILL NOT go in cot even slightly awake, and will not fall asleep till 8pm. but he is sleeping all the way through till 6 having some milk and then going back to sleep till we wake him up.

napping is down to about 1 hour a day at 120 precisely EVERY day!!! he will go for longer sometimes but am trying to cut it down to less than 1 hour to try and get him sleeping before 8pm....

scan yesterday on sam - all absolutely fine and he's on around the 45th centile growth wise which is brilliant - jacob never got anywhere near that . he is a real kicker - jacob was a wriggler but sam just boots all the time! i had a little plate leavning o nthe edge of the bump the other evening and he pretty much kicked hard enough to shove the plate away! anyway, when he was being scanned he did a few massive kicks making the bump move madly - the sonographer was v surprised. said he'll be number 9 or 10 for all blacks, whichever his brother isn't. and as for jacob - looking up coquetishly from under his long lashes and fringe at the sonographer little flirt!!!!

so the consultants are hopeful i'll get to 32 weeks if not slightly longer [fingers and toes crossed emoticon] and b pressure is still under control (just about) so all ok on that front.

dh in ny at partnership conference till arriving back on sunday morning - the only good thing is he's getting the overnight flight on sat night so one less evening to get slaughtered! actually he's buying me loads of cosmetics out there and picking u pthe last ralph lauren shop i did online in the sale that is waiting at their NY office so there are a few more good things about the trip!

anyway, must go you've probably all fallen asleep

hc and ceebee keep going with ttc - ceebee when we counted we found that going for a couple more days after when ovulation was supposed to have been actually ended up doing the trick!

hi to everyone i've missed - sorry pregnabrain is in gear along with the nasty head cold!

jacobandlysetteandabump · 08/02/2008 09:18

where are you all???

have i killed the thread?????

soph28 · 08/02/2008 09:39

no I'm stl here- maybe it was me that killed it!

How many weeks are you now Lysette? I'm 30wks today. I'm scared at how quickly it's going.

AnnieOleTing · 08/02/2008 11:04

Morning Girls!!

Soph, congratulations! I didn't realise you were pg too. How's it going? Glad Chloe is doing well, she is Kayley's virtual twin, if I remember right (unlikely as that may be!) 18th July??

Lysette glad you're back!! Some of us were wondering where you had got to, even if we didn't mention it... . Hope you are Jacob are better soon, and looks like Sam is going to be one tough cookie!! Hang on in there Sam!!
Things are ok with DH, I think someone has said something to him, as he's being very patient with me, and very nice... My BF said she had a word with him when she was over, but didn't think he took any notice, and she also said that his BF had defended me (while I was slaving over the fajitas!) the night they were all around, so maybe he's listened to them. Good thing too!

Bloss, how was your birthday?? Did you get your card?! Saw a lovely photo of you on Facebook!

Well last night was much improved. There was an hour of screaming, but apart from that, she slept alright after it. We've gone back to the steroids though, to try and get rid of this flare-up, and already it's much better. Going to keep on with the steroids until it's relatively clear and then try the ginseng cream. It sounds like we are faffing around and keep chopping and changing which can't be good, but priority right now is to calm that flare-up.

Had great fun at breakfast, they both wanted to eat my cereal out of my bowl, so it was a three way thing, 'Joey wants some', 'Mimi wants some' 'Mammy wants some' about 70 times...

Anyway, dahlings, must go and 'work'

Toodles

ceebee i was posting when you posted about me - thanks honey!!!

hi soph! I'm 28 weeks today, and man is he a little kicker!!! Lots and lots of it today although it's my own fault - picked up a huge hot chocolate on the way to mother and toddler group today skinny milk though.

how are you feeling soph?

annie glad to hear things are better on the DH front and mybe a little better on the sleeping front - at least for the one night!

jacob napped early today - M&T really wears him out which is brilliant because he really enjoys it so much with his friends. must go and finish his cheese on toast for lunc hand then wake him otherwise too much sleep in the day and he'll never go to bed tonight!

back later
