Couldn't help it!

KITTYmaspudding · 09/12/2007 13:06

evenhope, it's this the whole family can take it. Something's keeping the bugs away.

Rosyrednosily · 09/12/2007 15:24

Mossy

I got off really lightly with the teething so far because I remember it being hard going with ds2. Hasan got his really early and has had 7 teeth for ages and they came through really quickly and didn't cause much distress. Hopefully they will all come through like that. If not I'll have to try the amber necklace then!

Rosyrednosily · 09/12/2007 15:27

Kitty that stuff looks good. I've just got echinacea in the cupboard that I keep forgeting to take

LunarSea · 09/12/2007 15:54

sazzy - glad Elliot's on the mend. Bronchiolitis can be really scary - we spent ds1's first Christmas with him in hospital on oxygen, so I know exactly how you must have felt.

Toby's started doing a weird walking on his knees/crawling with no hands thing (basically kneeling up, with his thighs and body upright, and "walking" on his lower legs as if he was crawling). Looks very odd, and I don't think I've ever seen a baby do it before. Typical Toby - can't do anything by the book!

DeathBySnooSnoo · 09/12/2007 16:25

notevenhoping-bronchiolitis affects babies under 2 between october and march, the worst time being december-january.older children and adults catch the virus that causes it but it only develops into bronchiolitis in babies due to narrower tubes/smaller lungs.

it gets worse every yeari watched baby after baby being admitted when dd2 was in with it.

lunar-i didnt realise your ds1 spent xmas in hospital with it as well.my dd1 was discharged on xmas eve 1998,and dd2 was taken off ventilation and started breathing on her own on xmas eve 2005.

speaking of herself, she has given up daytime napping and is whingy as owt by teatime...she has turned straight into a stereotypical 2 yr old

KITTYmaspudding · 09/12/2007 17:44

Lunar, it's funny when they move in odd ways isn't it .
Ronnie's not that happy with crawling he prefers to bear walk on his hands and tip toes.
I remember once seeing a true bum-shuffler in action. It was AMAZING, boy could they move, must have had arm muscles like a prize fighter .
Rosy, I NEVER forget this tonic, I shake 20 drops into some juice everyday. I can't say if it's the tonic that's making the difference but
I'm not prepared to try an experiment!!!!!
Everyone around me is dropping like flies. Dp has man flu but is valiantly staggering about shouldn't laugh it's not funny .

awayinamuppet · 09/12/2007 19:32

sazzy - what a traumatic thing to go through you poor thing! SO good to hear Elliot is on the mend... spoil him this christmas wont you!?

Glad people are recovering from various bugs - fingers crossed we're all well for christmas.

no time to really post - just hugs to you all

sazzybeehomeforxmas · 09/12/2007 20:22

Thanks for all the lovely messages

Sounds like I'm not the only one with a sickly baby Big hugs to all you who are also going through the ringer with your LOs - hope we are all recovered in time for a lovely xmas.

I'm feeling horribly guilty about him getting so ill as we were away the weekend before and I just thought he was being a bit whingey and was irritated with him for spoiling my weekend. Thank god he's recovered - I'd like to think I'm never going to get annoyed with him again but that's not likely!

He is really struggling with teeth - he's not got the middle top two but the ones either side which are causing him loads of pain every time he bites anything. And after his hospital trauma he gets really upset if I try and give him teething granules or calpol or anything. I might see if I can get him an amber necklace too

sazzybeehomeforxmas · 09/12/2007 20:23

going through the wringer even!

AmieR · 09/12/2007 21:22

blushes

Can I come back and join the fun again?

Hope you and your families are all well!

spongecake · 09/12/2007 21:26

sazzy, your poor thing, i really feel for you - it must have been horrendous. glad he is better now.

amber necklaces- my mil gave me one when lo was about a month old, but i didn't put it on him as they are supposed to be able to break easily (in case of hanging) and then i thought he might swallow a bead. my dh was really cross with me but i stuck to my guns. i posted on mn and it was a bit of a mixed bag

snoo snoo your night out with your dd sounds lovely, it must be nice seeing her all grown up

foxcubinapeartree · 09/12/2007 21:38

Sazzy [massive hugs] to you and Elliot. Am very he was so ill but am he is on the mend

Rosy - LOL at your description of the continuum concept as sitting on PC all day Bfing

Kitty have ordered some of what Dr Kitty ordered - thanks for the link

Lunar - it made me smile visualising Toby kneel-walking

Evenhope - do you have a link for the amber teething necklace at all?

Hi Sponge [waves]

foxcubinapeartree · 09/12/2007 21:40

Hi Amie - welcome back!!!

Hi Kiwi

KITTYmaspudding · 09/12/2007 22:18

It's barf city here!
Hello Amie where have you been?!!
Foxy, hope the old tonic helps!

Piffle · 09/12/2007 22:32

Finns teething necklace goes under the 3 layers of winter attire, never let him sleep in it though, but do have a bracelet which I put on his ankle in the sleeping bag.

He is very snotty and coughy at nights.
Gave him medised last night as he was simply hysterical with not being able to suck, so partly for it's decongestant effect but had to truly celebrate that he also slept 11.30 -7.30 for the first time ever. Am watching him like a hawk after Sazzys awful tale.
DD is up and down, still complaining of bad headaches and still sensitive to light, temp lil bit up and she still has a very sore throat from the tonsilitis. She is also sleeping all the time and tongiht asked to sleep with us - she is not that tactile with anyone but me and hates being fussed on when asleep. But I decode this as her being very poorly indeed. So am not entirely sure she is mending as quickly as I had thought

Right so next developmental stage for Finn
crawling YEP
pulling up on things to stand YEP
then swaying with one handed abandon YEP

separation anxiety ARRRGHHH YEP
makes bedtimes fecking horrendous.. cannot for life of me recall how long it takes to pass... hope 48hrs but fear not

oh lunar Finn kneels and tries to knee walk as well! V V bizarre to watch

got a DP with man flu, he is properly sick and being pretty good - snoring NOT included.
He will be off work tomorrow for sure as he is wheezy.

right enough bloody moaning from me...

Mossy · 10/12/2007 09:04

Sorry all, I've been really busy applying for jobs and the like.

Also I have joined a forum for ex-cult members and have discovered quite a few people from my childhood and it's just been fantastic. Some awful, awful stuff gone on there though, don't know why they can't shut it down. Hey ho.

Rosy will go and have a proper look at your thread about tcc!

Sazzy, I'm so sorry to hear about poor Elliot and so glad he's better now. You'll be treading on eggshells now won't you, poor you.

Piffle how is your dd now? So unlucky to get two of your dc's so ill so close together.

Oh I got a text the other day... from Dolly! She is doing well just very busy too busy to post atm. Both dds doing just fine.

So now Sazzy & Amie are back, Shanks & Jay are probably too busy... who is still missing?

Hello everyone else. Kitty I quite liked Mrs Slocomb actually but I am probably the minority, I still like Kitty though too.

OP posts:
AmieR · 10/12/2007 09:21

Mossy - Hope the applications go well.

Piffle - Finn sounds like he's doing well!

Joe's not quite crawling yet(though backwards is no problem), gets on all four points and then looks like he humps the floor! I'm sure he will be crawling in no time though, he's a very determined chap!

He's just getting over an awful cold but almost back to 100%, thankfully. Its so hard when they have colds, they don't understand and I felt so useless. Glad he's on the mend.

Rosyrednosily · 10/12/2007 10:50

Hi everyone,
Amie good to have you back. Hasan did that thrusting thing before he got going with the crawling...not be long! Glad Joe is on the mend now.
Laidback laidback is too laidback to post! I must go and annoy her on Facebook!

I'm trying to phsych myself up to go out christmas shopping when Hasan wakes up.....

bethoo · 10/12/2007 11:09

hello everyone and hope you all had a good weekend!
Sazzy - good to hear that little Elliot is feeling better, sounded terrifying. i would have done the same as i always feel like doctors think you are an overprotective mother!!

Hayden is cutting his 6th tooth and is fine apart from the four horrendously smely poos he did yesterday! felt like i was constantly changing him! he has a cold at the mo which means he has to come up for air during bf and everytime he sneezes copious amounts of thick green snot flies everywhere and he insists on wiping it on me boob! sorry about TMI!
Gained weight as not been food shopping as dp said he would take me so i waited all day only for him to tell me he was having an early night and had more important things to do (than get me and his son food!). i gained weight as binged on Haydens high carb food like crumpets and waffles! have not eated a vegetable in ages! cant wait to get a computer so i can order on line!
MOssy - not dipping into purse strings hence not been to toy shop yet, last monday dp said he would take me and then that evening commented that he had no petrol money (hinting for me to fund) so i said leave it til tomorrow as he was gong to ask his mum for money (wtf am i doing with a 35 year old who still skanks money from his mother!) but he claims he missed her so we di not go tuesday then he was tired the other days then this weekend he says he sis not know i wanted to go! yes so slightly peeved really. rant over! good news was that dishy cable guy did text me(he has not forgotten me )to ask how i am while he is loving the sun in Africa!

bethoo · 10/12/2007 11:10

oh and does anyone elses lo fall over alot as mine loses his bablance and is continuously hittign his head on the carpet! i am watching him but is happens os fast, concerned it may cause long term damage!

MerryXMoss · 10/12/2007 11:35

Bethoo, Bertie is always thrusting forward while he's sitting up and often falls over forwards. I put a cushion in front of him and a breastfeeding pillow behind him but he still manages to find the floor somehow.

Oh bugger Bertie's having a wail moment better get him...

foxcubinapeartree · 10/12/2007 11:38

Hi everyone - I got loads of Christmas Shopping done yesterday (phew!!). My sister and I are buying each other ethical presents - some water sanitation in a developing country so that children can drink clean water.

Bethoo that DP of yours is taking the piss somewhat isn't he? . Make sure you keep your other Beau on the scene - you deserve better for sure

Sazzy did you ever find out exactly what it was that Elliot contracted that made him so ill?

AmieR · 10/12/2007 12:05

I love those ethical presents. We gave a goat to a family, and DH has supplied a football team in Africa with balls and training kit. I find them useful as a they obviously help those in need plus some people are a pain to buy for.

KITTYmaspudding · 10/12/2007 13:05

Bethoo your other half is a tosser, sorry, but from the info you've given that's how he comes across

Hey ho only one well person left in the house, well 2 if you count me! ds2 has gone to school. dd2 was mary in her nativity today, she looked very lovely, she just held it all together and now she is ill.
She came in to my bed last night saying her legs hurt then this morning she told me my bed was "magic" as it had stopped her legs hurting. bless.
Foxy, lucky you with the shopping. I have to find some way of going ionto the "present room" without being noticed. I no longer have any idea who has got what. I've been buying for so long now.
Haven't got anything from "santa" yet though.

Hello everyone else, hope all poorly babies are on the mend.

Ron as a physio appt next week to look at his neck, I'm amazed it has come through this side of christmas.
Even though the hospital is only 10 mins away I'll have to leave about an hour before as parking is SO shite

bethoo · 10/12/2007 13:29

i know he is!! cant leave him yet as he is coming to my parents for Xmas and no doubt i will getthe third degree and he owes me alot of money, managed to convince me to pay for a PS3 and still waiting for the £500 due in January! as soon as get money i am out though it does concern me about his access to see Hayden. i mean this is the guy who has not once offered to have Hayden for the day so i can have a me day cleaning and generaly relaxing, has only given me £50 towards Hayden and when i see him he can barely have time for him, i hand Hayden to him then he needs hte loo and has to put the kettle on etc! he must think i never go to the loo. so god only knows how he can care for him when i am not there to have Hayden sat on my lap! do not think he could cope alone with him for half a day let alone the wekeend and i sould not want to be away from Hayden for a whole weekend! Dp also stresses when tryign ot change and feed him as he says he will not sit still. what does he expect?? so i think that it is best i stay with him at least i can supervise access iykwim. sorry for typo, my fingers are too quick for my head sometimes!
