piffle-(((((hugs)))))hope your dd is better soon.

Rosy-is there some sort of paralell universe thing going on with birthdays here?.when are your other 2 dc's?does your dh share a birthday with mine also??

luckily dd2 was alot better this morning.she enjoyed opening her presents and has been singing happy bithday all day.she also appears to have learnt lots of new words overnight..although i'm not sure i approve of all of them(not from the mouth of a sweet 2 year old anyway).

Elsie was happy as there were balloons to play with.

i saw my former best mate in tesco before.she commented on how i had my hands full now and went on to gloat about how her 2 kids are old enough to be left and she has her freedom blah blah blah.i had to bite my tongue to stop myself asking if she had a job now (she always said she would stay on benefits untill her kids left school),or commenting that i may not have freedom as such but at least i still have my teeth and can still get into size 12 jeans.

bethoo-i dont know how much a 9 month old is 'supposed' to weigh.why do hv's get all obsessive about average weights and crap like that?you and i are the same age but i very much doubt we weigh the same.
my friend picked up Elsie this morning and said 'blimey, what have you been feeding her?'.it turns out that Elsie weighs the same as her 2.3 year old son.

Piffle · 06/12/2007 21:53

well to top of my day bloody af arrived.
Dp is ill - oh dear god he has a temperature, shoeved the bloody thing in his ear 75 times until he finally got a reading over 37.0 and thrust it at my face with a SEE I am sick face.

Oooohhhh

DD finally woke at 4pm, lucid and wanted to be up, she made it to 8pm had a few nibbles and some meds and drinks and back to bed, seems BETTER - phew
Finn 100% again now, feeding at night but at least settling straight back again.
Am about to upload some pics of him here and the march FB group too.
Oh dear god xmas names.
I'll revert to my usual of Merry PIFFmas I think, am feeling a creative lull just now

KrIsTTYmas · 06/12/2007 22:40

PIffle is it "man flu" ?
hooray that the kiddies are better at least, man flu is a bad, bad thing.

bethoo · 07/12/2007 10:33

Piffle- you poor thing, it seems that it is one thing after another at the moment and you are coping very well i must say.

spongecake - i do not think you were brusque at all.

bloody heck dp wants to see me this weekend but cannot be bothered! he wants to pick me up at 5.30 as going to his daughters fete at school (not taking money so i cannot spend it as have to be a bit tight now what with Xmas round the corner!) but i have to go home after to let the dogs out for a wee. sucha nightmare living on an army camp as have toget a pass etc! but then at least i cannot have any unexpected knocks at the door so have good points i guess!

awayinamuppet · 07/12/2007 10:59

glad little ones are on the mend piff... shame about your dh though... show him that "man flu" vid on youtube!

fright of my life last night as dd appeared looming over my face in the early hours telling me that someone was banging a hammer against the downstairs window

apart from giving me heart failure at being woken from a deep sleep with her head hovering above me... i then had to prowl around downstairs in search of an "intruder"

... dh is away this week so all falls to me!

Found the back door open...

... now i really began to sh*t myself... spent the next half hour combing the house for men that may be hiding under teacups!

Didn't find anything! I think i just forgot to shut the door and the wind must have been banging it around.

Spent the rest of the night listening for things that go bump in the night...

... oh yes, and samuel who goes aaarrrrggghhhh in the night.

Rosyrednosily · 07/12/2007 11:37

Flip me muppet, that sounds a bit scarey...and tiring.

Well if you take your eyes off Hasan for two secs he starts going up the stairs. Yesterday he went the whole way up with my mother behind him I hope the safety gate I got off ebay comes today!

Bethoo I get used to having no man and then have to adjust to accommodate dh and feel like he's just an annoyance adding to my work load but as usual he just ignores my moaning doesn't change one bit, but seduces me and manages to justify his existance in one way or another+
So maybe by the end of the weekend you will have had a nice time with your dp (but keep a tight hold of your purse strings I say!)

KITTYmaspudding · 07/12/2007 12:34

Muppet, that's truly scary I would have been wetting myself

Piffle · 07/12/2007 19:35

Spoke too soon, dd was at A+E all morning after waking with severe headache, light sensitivity, sore neck and light rash...
AS it turns out she has severe tonsilitis, and is slightly dehydrated, they told us to bring her home and try to get plenty of fluids in, if no improvement and/or vomiting does not settle (she was sick 2 x last night with temp of 40) she has to go in tomorrow for IV fluids.
She is settled tonight, but will need to wake her for drinks.

Finn also showed us he can get up the bloody stairs
He is being a sod atm, for nights
Me and DP = shattered, not so much bags under our eyes as full matching luggage sets.
Will see what tomorrow brings.

xxx

evenhope · 07/12/2007 20:16

Piffle sorry to hear that your problems are continuing.

at all the stair-climbing babies! Don't let mine out of the living room!

DD met Father Christmas today and cried. Stupid camera wouldn't work either

foxcubinapeartree · 07/12/2007 21:47

Well done Finn!!

Piff how is DD now?

Like the name Kitty

LOL SnooSnoo - I like the teeth/sz 12 comment PMSL! I have friends who are always saying "oh I'm so glad my kids are older - its is sook HARD having young children isn't it" looking down their snouts . At least my ovaries still work

Muppet - that sound sreally spoooky!!

Hi everyone else [waves]

Had stressful evening sitting in traffic for one hour trying to get Ds1 to party. Arrived and had no change for parking, so had to ask an very nice young Asian man for change - he took my £10 note and changed it for me in a shop for me while I BF Monti who was howlomng his head off. What a luvverly chap

DS1 had great time at party though and so did DD who gatecrashed (bowling party)

Have had 3 swimming lessons this week - have invested my credit union savings into paying for a personal swimming trainer to learn to be a good swimmer (I am crappo) - I lurve it now and never want to get out of the water The trainer is very strict and drives me relentlessly - she takes no prisoners

foxcubinapeartree · 07/12/2007 21:49

Ooops - apologies for the emoticon-overload

NotEvenHopingForAWhiteXmas · 07/12/2007 22:01

Like the new name foxie!

DD has been screaming since falling over yet again. She has a seasonal red nose. She is cutting her first canine tooth too, straight after her second top tooth. I've ordered an amber necklace- please let it come quickly..

spongecake · 07/12/2007 22:10

i;ve just had a birthday, very quiet or so i thought... a friend turned up the night before as a surprise with champagne i was all set for a night in front of csi with a mince pie dh was working as ever, but he was off for the next day.

how do you tell if anyone is online in fb? its so confusing i find

Rosyrednosily · 08/12/2007 07:57

Piffle hang in there...maybe you can all have a nap today and big big rests all round.

Love the christmassy names.
Fox I'm impressed and envious all at the same time of your swimming lessons, your energy, motivation and commitment to fitness

Safety gate arrived and is up, yippee! Not a moment too soon.

Spongecake I know if you look at peoples profile there's an online icon that comes up but I never know anyones on line apart from when it says online in scrabulous. I added an instant chat application thing but no idea how that works
Very frustrating facebook is down this morning and scrabulous was down yesterday so I'm having withdrawal symptoms [twitch]

Rosyrednosily · 08/12/2007 08:00

Belated Happy birthday Spongecake

KITTYmaspudding · 08/12/2007 08:24

hello
I've given up with fb, I can't work most of it and I find it harder and harder to load the site anyway. I'll stick with this I think.

Piffle · 08/12/2007 13:12

DD much better today, is on constant meds now and temp is just under 38 which os better
She is perky and less tired and eating a lot more and drinking fine.
She has been up all morning and just crashed out now.
So am so so relieved, she may get to be Mary after all! she never woke last night - I got her to drink when I was up with Finn and to give her meds but she barely registered it!
Finn was up a few times for feeding but twas ok on the whole. Dp snored due to his cold, but for once I could almost sleep over it as was so tired.
This is def the most tired I have been since having Finn thuogh.

Rest HAHA no we had a carpet cleaner hired this w/e (DIY one) so we're doing that
moving furniture, doing loads of washing, getting the xmas tree up...
Rest is for the weak

dazzleybeebonfire · 08/12/2007 13:53

Hi all

Sorry have been awol for so long. I've been working insane hours on a massive project which has just finished (phew) AND have had awful, awful time with Elliot.

He had bronchiolitis and became very ill, not eating, dehydrated, temperature of 40 degrees - the works. He was really unwell all last weekend but I didn't want to call the doctor out (you know, don't want to make a fuss) so I didn't take him to the GP unitl Monday morning. He sent us to A&E who considered admitting him but they didn't have any beds so it would have meant him going to a hospital a long way away which I was really not keen on. Once they'd got his temperature under control they sent us home and just told me to keep an eye on him.

But I ended up having to call an ambulance in the middle of the night because his temperature shot up again, he was going blue and was really struggling to breathe. We were rushed to hospital with him in an oxygen mask and blue lights flashing - the works. He spent five days there being very, very unwell in an isolation unit, being fed by tube and on oxygen the whole time. Absolutely terrifying

He started to get better by Thursday so they let us come home last Friday. A week on, he's much, much better but it's been complete hell. I was so scared, I thought he was going to die. Now I'm going to be the overindulgent mother from hell

Hopefully you are all having a better time than me. I shall have a read through and catch up with all your news

Piffle · 08/12/2007 17:53

Oh Sazzy how bloody awful, poor Elliot and poor you, what a hideous worry.

I so hope he is properly on the mend
I absolutely dread Finn getting sick like that
We have also taken both kids Finn and dd to A+E in the last, but minor as hell compared to poor Elliot.
Bronchiolitis terrifying.

Glass of wine, breathe and say we got through it.
Sending mega hugs your way tis the worst part about being a mum.

kiwibella · 08/12/2007 22:19

lots of hugs Sazzy... you have been through such an awful time with your wee man. Be as overindulgent as you like .

You have had a rough ride too Piffle!! Hope that Em is starting to feel better. We could do with a carpet cleaner through ours too - I hate to think what bugs are lurking.

We have all had a turn at having a stomach bug over the last few days (from my carpet ??) which, I think, started with Kate. Consequently, I am blaming her nursery and feeling thankful / righteous that she won't be there for much longer!! Not really .

Happy birthday Spongecake... friends are great - especially those that spoil you when you least expect it.

Haha Rosy... funny the things that excite us most!!

I want to get a Christmas tree but hubs thinks they are a waste of money and I am concerned that I will always be pulling Kate away from it. It doesn't feel Christmassy yet... no matter how many times hubs strums the three Christmas carols he knows on the guitar . How do you keep your lil ones away from the decorations?

DeathBySnooSnoo · 08/12/2007 22:48

sazzy-((((((((((hugs))))))))))have text you.i hope everythings ok now.i was myself in tears on dd2's birthday when i was putting her to bed as i was thinking how lucky i am to still have this lovely little girl when she was so ill as a baby.
Elliot is home now,so he will just get better(though no doubt you will be watching him like a hawk and legging it to the doctors at the slightest hint of a sniffle for the next 6 months).

it was dd1's birthday today-she is 9.i took her for a chinese meal this evening as her last 2 birthdays were shite.last year dd2 was in hospital with a viral chest infection and the year before it was the day i got out of hospital after having dd2.she enjoyed herself, although she looked about 12 or 13 dressed up.i had 2 small glasses of wine but i feel like ive been on the vodka(and like ive just swallowed a kilo of salt).

piffle-hope your dd is better soon,it sounds very scary.

the bugs are rife this winter

DeathBySnooSnoo · 08/12/2007 22:53

oh sorry-happy belated birthday sponge

bella-Elsie can't reach the tree yet as she isnt crawling properly, and dd2 doesnt bother with it,as she understands the word 'no' and doesnt seem to have the destructive nature my male children had/have.

Elsie is just obsessed with bins and will find it and pull it over wherever i put it,or however many interesting toys i get out for her.she's after paper, you see

Rosyrednosily · 09/12/2007 08:23

Sazzy you poor things, I'm so glad Elliot is okay now. Reading your post made my blood run cold, I can just imagine how I would feel, you must have been so worried. I never want to make a fuss either and usually the kids are fine, you weren't to know how serious it was going to get! And if you are a bit nervous when he is ill from now on, it is totally fair enough after that shock.

Piffle lol at 'rest is for the weak'

Kiwi much sympathy that tummy bug sounds horrible. Ds1 and I dragged a big cupboard downstairs and our tree is on top of it out of reach of the Hasan or he would have scoffed the lot

Snoosnoo Sounds like a lovely birthday treat for your dd. Aww.

Notevenhoping, what is it about the amber necklace?

I am not well either, sore throat, glands in my armpits really sore, aches and pains all over my body....but I'm functioning.

KITTYmaspudding · 09/12/2007 11:46

Sazzy, that's awful poor poor you. How is Elliot doing now? God there have been lots of horrible bugs going around the babies here.
I'm so glad that we have escaped them SO FAR.

How are things in your house Piffle? Better I hope.

Rosy, make sure you take lots of immune system boosting stuff.

I have been taking an immune system tonic and vicks first defence for a few weeks now and I must say it seems to be working. I have not come down with anything even the kids have been coughing and vomiting their way through winter ( frequently sneezing all over my face)and dp is coming down with something too.

I live in terror of being ill as I can't be fshock]

Snoo, did your dd like her meal? It sounds very grown up .

Kiwi I hope your house settles and illnesses all bugger orf!

NotEvenHopingForAWhiteXmas · 09/12/2007 12:37

Rosy amber teething necklaces are supposed to take away the pain of teething. Piffle has one and says they work, so I thought I'd try it. Can't hurt, and the screaming is driving me demented

Sazzy sorry to hear about Elliot's illness. Is it the time of year, their age or a combination? My DD hasn't been able to shake this cold/ virus. I've lost count but this is either week 5 or week 6. I'm just thankful she seems to have got off quite lightly compared to some of the others.

kitty what immune system tonic are you taking? Think I need some.
