Hello all, just popping in. Have kind of read your posts but I'm having a mare what with no help at home and all that.

lol @ flapping norks if i had any they would flap, as it is they just hang about 8 inches lower than they used to do .

foxy hope your dd is ok

Rosy at your moving baba. Ronnie is nearly off, I can't wait, hopefully THEN he'll stop the screaming.

Mossy, don't know what you've been up to, sounds interesting though.

Anyone else feel like they're going bald ?

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 16:31

Kitty my hair falls out in huge chunks each tim I wash it

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 16:33

Calliween · 08/10/2007 18:14

Mossy et al with feisty, wanting-attention-all-the-time babies - DS is JUST the same. Tell anyone who criticises to eff off or try having him for the day. I do think in a proper society that people are supposed to live in, ie, tribes rather than ridiculous one or two-person parenting situations, this would never be an issue because the baby would just get passed around from person to person, and poor old mum would get regular breaks. On that note, can anyone recommend a good sling for a larger baby? Jordi is over 20lb now and I'd like one ideally that he can face forward in, and really if possible go on my back too, but is not going to grow out of in a month or two.

Dolly, holiday sounds fab. Ooh, I'm jealous. I nearly got to go to Barcelona at the end of Oct in another house swap but the other people had work things popping up in the end. Boo. Never mind, off to non-sunny (probably) Scotland in a few weeks I think to see my millions of relatives.

DS is squealing away upstairs, better go and relieve DP.

kiwibella · 08/10/2007 19:15

hi everyone and your clever babies!! They are changing so quickly from gorgeous babies that don't do a lot to wanting to be doing everything at the next stage.

Kate is just as cute as ever. I have battled with her sleeping and drinking at nursery - but she ploughs through her food now taking three good meals a day. In fact, one of the nursery staff commented that she screams at them if they try to feed another baby.

Your link about weaning was food for thought, Mossy. Good on you for sharing your expertise on the bf thread - you went through loads with Bertie and you sound so knowledgeable now!!

I can't wait to finish work. I would much rather be home with my little girl. Hubs has some interesting career developments which would mean I wouldn't feel so guilty about giving up my independence (money ). No developments on the making a baby project. Surely my body must know how to do it now .

Love popping in to see how you are all doing but rarely have the energy to post.

kiwibella · 08/10/2007 19:15

foxy... hope your little girl will be ok after her bump. Keep an eye on her tonight x x

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 19:53

Thanks Kiwi

Callie - Paddle is sling expert - I'll send her over here!

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 20:05

OK personal question tim:

Which of you, who is BFing, has had their AF reappear yet?

I feel horribly as though I have pmt, despite Monti still taking 9 feeds in every 24 hrs!

kiwibella · 08/10/2007 20:05

Callie, I have a wilkinet carrier... it's fab!!

www.wilkinet.co.uk/WhyChoose.asp

kiwibella · 08/10/2007 20:07

Foxy, I'm on my third now!! I am feeding a mixture of breast and bottle - about three of each. So far my cycles have been really long though, 35ish days.

Rosyspookily · 08/10/2007 20:16

Still no af here but definately been premenstrual every month for the last 3 months.

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 20:35

hi Callie

check out www.slingmeet.co.uk for loads of sling advice.

i used a ring sling from about 4m which is great for hip carries.

wraps are fabulous for front and back carries but take a bit of practice to tie etc.

a mei tai is a good alternative to a wrap and very versatile and can be front or back and outward facing.

the ergo is also great but not very PC as their selling tactics are very aggressive.

i am still carrying my dd at 23m and 17kg altho it's been a while since i managed a front carry as the hips can't cope these days!

slingmeets are a great way to meet people and try new slings out and even borrow slings. also you can rent slings from Big Mama slings so try before you buy.

the slingmeet site also has a great forum where you can get heaps more advice!

good luck, hope you find something that suits you guys.

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 20:38

ps: I'm not really an expert on slings but I have been lucky to have tried quite a few.

Calliween · 08/10/2007 20:55

Thanks Paddlechick and Bella. How heavy is Kate now btw Bella. And - at NZ losing! What a turn-up that was! And Oz. Never saw that coming. I hope your DH's work stuff comes off if it means you can spend more time with Kate.

kittywitch · 08/10/2007 21:00

Callie, ergos are great for front, hip and back and take really heavy babies I can carry dd3 and she weighs an absolute tonne. I can still carry her at 21 months and I'm generally not the tough sling wearing type once they get hefty iyswim!

Kiwi have I missed something here about baby making ?????????

scarybee · 08/10/2007 21:06

I got my af about a month ago. But I seem to have stopped bfing now. Or rather it's stopped on me. I cut down so that I would be sure that E would take his bottles while he's at nursery but my supply is declining at a rapid rate. I'm a bit sad but not sad enough for me to try and battle to keep it going if I'm going to have to work really hard at it as I'm back to work next week anyway. I'd hoped to be able to continue mornings and evenings on work days but full time on the other days but my body doesn't seem to be built that way

I'm quite looking forward to going back too - like you fox I'm excited about being able to go to the loo. Or even be in a room on my own I think I might book a meeting room for a couple of hours every day just for the sheer pleasure of solitude!

Mossy · 08/10/2007 21:12

Lunar I did think of training to be a BFC but to be a proper one you have to have breastfed for at least one year and Bertie is only six months! However I am training to be a LLL Peer Supporter, which is like a BFC but not as detailed.

Why thank you ladies for kind comments about my "professionalism". I just like to bore the living crap out of anyone who will listen about bfing - yes, I'm obsessed... as you know I was obsessed in the early days too, but now I try to use my powers for good rather than evil!

Paddlechick! Hello there, you're one of Foxie's mates aren't you? You know I looked on that forum. It seems that no one in or around Merseyside does babywearing no wonder everyone thinks I am weirdo hippy lady who goes out with baby on her back and no bra on.

Rosy at Hasan with his crawling! That's brilliant! I don't put Bertie down on the floor much downstairs as it is laminate and quite hard, so maybe I should get a rug so he can practise more?

Foxy I haven't started my AF yet but Bertie is almost constantly feeding despite BLW so I think I have that lactational amorarrrrgh or whatever it's called. 98% effective you know.

Although I think abstinence is 100% effective.

Callie yes I am at the stage of telling people to eff off now...

Mil is starting to do my head in. Keeps muttering about how "it's all very well now but if you act like this when he's a toddler he'll have you wrapped around his little finger" okay whatever so come back to me when he's a toddler and poke your nose in then.

You know I never thought I'd join the ranks of mil-haters but there you go.

Bella how are you finding work then? When do you break up?

Muppet lol yes that link made me broody again too

Kitty my hair is all still here, but then again I never grew any extra in pgcy like people said I would. Ah well.

Bethoo glad things are on the up with your fella and he's impressed your folks!

Right, I'm going to have a hot chocolate, maybe some porridge for supper and see how much of Ross Kemp on Gangs I can catch before Bertie wakes!

That's if I don't get drawn into more bf threads...

Nightie night to anyone I've missed!!

OP posts:
foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 21:13

LOL Scarey at the idea of booking a meeting room!

Mossy · 08/10/2007 21:14

Sazzy - Scary I mean!

Would you still continue am and pm feeds while you were at work... is Elliot still feeding in the night time?

OP posts:
foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 21:15

Mossy - I am obsessed with BF too - right, off to find your thread....[trots off with purposeful look in her eye]
