Wow DG....great post. I think you've raised some very good points there and seeing what you do with your DCs is very interresting, but I just don't have any confidence in my ability to teach my DS anything....we usually end up fighting over his schol reading book and the six words that he has to do every week...although we did buy some learn to write books and he will quite happily sit down with those for hours so can see where you're coming from on the wanting to learn front.

I think my DH would have me committed though if I said I wanted to home ed!

I need to take DSs luch to school now....I bet the courier comes when I'm out (I'll be gone for 10 mins max.)

I was using babywipes, but this week we have just been using plain water on a flannel. Perhaps I've been leaving her in wet nappies too long . I switched to ecover and have been using 1/2 a cap of the liquid in a nappy waash. Maybe this isn't enough to get all the wee out?

I'll send you my address...I love free samples

Great post DG. I can totally see why you home school. I don't know if it would be for me but you do put a strong argument DG. Schooling is such a contentious issue.

Daisy, DS had really bad nappy rash a week ago and I got a cream from homeopath for him - it was cleared in 1 day. She also suggested putting a drop of calendula oil in the cleaning water and nappy off for as long as possible.

Jamantha · 21/09/2007 11:27

We were given a high chair yesterday. I just tried sitting DD in it soshe could watch me hanging upthe nappies, but she hated it. I hope it was just that it was different, and not that she hates something about it particularly

LOL DG....i never thought about getting the courier to take it!

Jamantha, DS hated his as well at this age. I think cos they aren't supported as well as in say a bouncy chair they can feel a bit unsafe. DS got fed in his bouncy chair for ages and we started with the high chair about six or seven months.

It's pissing down here today...really miserable

riabutterflew · 21/09/2007 12:07

sorry for going on last night. I am still down today but might possibly be handling it better

riabutterflew · 21/09/2007 12:11

i enjoyed that very long post dg. i have to say i am almost tempted, but he's only got this year before secondary school.

tis pissing down here too

loonylovegood · 21/09/2007 12:17

Glad you're feeling better Ria. Rant away as needed!

Not raining, just windy here ()

It is really strange - I am having a day in and it is just me and ds3 as the older boys are at nursery...

Not too sure what to do with myself!

Jamantha · 21/09/2007 12:27

OK, we'll try the high chair in a couple of months. It reclines, so I'd hoped it'd be ok in that position, and she could get a better view of things, but maybe not

Jamantha · 21/09/2007 12:28

Glad things are a bit better, Ria. Hope it keeps getting better over the weekend

daisyandbabybootoo · 21/09/2007 12:37

courier has been

Buggy is super duper fab.....DD is sitting in it giggling (or her version of a giggle which is repeated high pitched squeals)

And thanks Holly, for the added extra .....looks fantastic and can't wait to try it out.

Flame's newsletter mentioned exciting new product, but not when it would be available. I bet they are expensive as well.

Ria, I'm glad you're a bit brighter today, and sorry I couldn't stay chatting any longer, but I was falling over tired.

Jamantha, have you got a lambswool or fleece buggy liner type thing that could make the high chair a bit more padded and secure feeling? Mind you, not much cop with food flying around!

justbeme · 21/09/2007 12:40

Hi - havent caught up yet so will go back in a minute!

Holly question for you if youre around re mystery shopping pls! Ive filled in my questionnaire ans saved and it doesnt say theres unanswered questions o/s - but it wont take me to stage 8 (the next stage)- any ideas?

Oh yes and my Little Lambs arrived - theyre lovely - the seller said she had pre washed them - should I wash them again? (non bio and no conditioner?) and when you do wash them - how do you stop the velcro from ripping everything? do you do them up as if they were being worn?

Be back in a mo after catching up!!

Jamantha · 21/09/2007 12:44

jbm - yes do velcro uo (as if being worn, like you said) when washing nappies

Daisy - good idea, until she starts with food of course, as you noted. At the moment we just hoped she'd be able to sit and see us when we have dinner - that way it might be easier if we want to eat before she goes to bed

daisyandbabybootoo · 21/09/2007 12:44

little lambs have fold back tabs jbm so they don't catch on anything in the wash.

DD now fed up of the new buggy.

Gotta go and tidy up a bit and then pack, pick DS up from school and off we go. See you all on Monday!

I'm glad the buggy came...it can have it's inaugural run!!

Holly, how did you register for the M&B trial???? if there's a chance of free stuff I want to it too!!!

annobal · 21/09/2007 12:47

Have a great weekend Daisy

riabutterflew · 21/09/2007 12:49

no worries daisy, i needed to go to bed too. i think dh is going to see the teacher tonight to stop it before it starts.
I have to admit to taking a tough-love/ton of bricks approach this morning. I know it's only a reaction to what's happening to him but i don't want him to end up in trouble.
