Hi All,

Thought I’d just start a December 2019 babies thread for those who have given birth in December and want to catchup/chat/rant/need support etc.

We are 11 days in...!
How is everyone doing?

Sleeping is good for us still. She's sleeping from around 7:30-7am, wakes probably 3 times in average, bit will settle herself usually.

The other day she woke up at 6:45, took her out of cot and onto our bed, as normal,.... She fell back asleep at 7:15 ish!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 27/08/2020 17:32

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps

Has anyone still not got teeth? DD is not showing any signs of teeth!

But, she is going to be crawling in the next few days!

Well... Two teeth are poking through and now she can crawl 🤣
Forevercurious · 02/09/2020 13:27

Is anyone else’s baby not babbling yet? DS will make various sounds eg: a long mmmmmmmmmm and lots of squealing but no proper babbling of mama, baba, dada etc yet.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 03/09/2020 09:05

DD babbles, says all sorts of nonsense..Vut, if yours is making sounds and 'chatting' away, I don't think it's anything to worry about. :)

He's probably focussed on something else! Mine only just started crawling and only got her teeth a few days ago.

I think it's all swings and roundabouts!

Teamthree · 03/09/2020 09:31

I don't know if it's an old wives tale but it seems true for us and my friends with babas that boys tend to focus on moving first and girls focus on talking. My LG still can't crawl and took an age to roll over and sit up, but she talks really well.

2littleboyzmum · 03/09/2020 10:55

@Teamthree I'm on my second son and I can totally agree to that!

Forevercurious · 03/09/2020 21:44

@Teamthree ah I hadn’t heard that but I do keep saying he’s definitely more physical, has been crawling for almost two months, pulling himself up on everything, cruising around furniture and can now walk holding on to a push along walker so it does seem to fit!

Forevercurious · 17/09/2020 13:57

Hi :) how’s everyone doing? I feel like I’m back on proper maternity leave with the baby groups and classes starting back up again - although we have missed them this week due to a snotty nose!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 18/09/2020 21:44

DD hasn't slept well recently, has needed night feeds. Has rediscovered her blood curdling scream. Very very VERY testing. We're pushing the sign language more to try and help her tell us what she needs.

Have also moved her on to new toys. So now has moved in to a pop up toy, a ball drop, a ball run, and a light up musical drum thing....Have been ruthless with her 'baby' toys, so have got rid of her crinkly toys etc she wasn't interested in them.

She's crawling like a pro now 🤣

Has grown! All of a sudden her 6-9m are too small.

Still sleeps in the side along crib, and will do until she either can stand up or when she sleeps through soundly against. Then she might go in her own room.

But have been enjoying the warm weather, went to the seaside yesterday...she ate the sand 🤦‍♀️🙄😃

Lots of visits to the swing's... she's a little adrenaline junkie and likes to go high and fast 😂😂

She's doing well with solids and will eat everything...she was eating a peach at my friends house today, she just knaws away at a whole fruit. Friend was impressed!! ...but DD dropped it in the ground after eating about 3/4 of it... whoopsie!!

lazybutton · 19/09/2020 09:51

Hey!

After 8mths of truly awful sleep, we’ve had blocks of 4hrs the last couple of nights. I feel like a new woman.

DD also loves her food & crawling. Found her feet so pulling herself up on furniture yesterday, eek!

I know what you mean about mat leave & baby groups, nearly cried at Hartbeeps on Wednesday. It was so lovely to go to a baby group but sad that it was be for such a short period until I return to work. We loved Hartbeeps with my son so was really keen to experience it again 🥰.

Anyone part of a f/b group? I really struggle to keep up with this thread & remembering who’s who! x

Forevercurious · 27/09/2020 07:35

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps how are you getting on with the sign language? I really want to start a sing and sign class!

@lazybutton I’m not part of a Facebook group - is there one for this thread? Not sure how I feel about linking mumsnet with ‘real life’ if that makes sense! 😂

I can’t believe DS is 10 months old next week, it’s going far too fast!

Comps83 · 02/10/2020 17:06

My little fella was nine months yday
He is into everything and commando crawling all over
He has one tooth
Can say mama, dadda and babba
And he can dance which is flippin hilarious to watch

Sign language... slow! But tbh we're not good at being 100% on it. However, she understands the words "all done" I think and knows that means she's getting out of the highchair. She can say Mum when asked.

She still screams 😬 but when she's bored or frustrated. So, working in her saying Mum instead!

She's great at drinking from an open cup.

Has started to pull up to stand 👍

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 03/10/2020 10:51

Oh... And she will not wear a hat!

2littleboyzmum · 03/10/2020 14:21

I can't believe next week my son will be 10 months like where has that gone! He babbles all the time with words like dada and baba, he's finally learnt to use his hands and knees to crawl rather than doing an army crawl on his tummy. He has also found he can now kneel up so I don't think it'll be long before he's pulling himself up to stand on furniture. He is also now going through separation anxiety which is annoying and nice at the same time he will go to sleep half the night in his cot and the other half he joins me in my bed 🤦🏼‍♀️ luckily my partner works nights so our son just takes up his side of the bed

Nervousdave · 14/10/2020 22:47

@lazybutton
I must confess that I havent been on mumsnet basically since I became a mum haha. I'm in a fb group called Due in December 2019, the cover photo is that "be kind" phrase, and there's nearly 600 members so no real risk of outing yourself 😊

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 17/10/2020 19:39

How are all your little ones doing with food?
Mine doesn't know what to do with pasta 😂

Fivebyfive2 · 07/11/2020 13:17

Okaayyy, anyone got any ideas on what to do with an almost 11 month old during lockdown? Seriously need inspiration as all he currently wants to do is crawl and climb on everything, try to walk when he clearly can't yet and try to get my cat to be his best friend... Feels like I spend wayyyy too much time going 'noooooo' bodyguard style 😂

Forevercurious · 07/11/2020 15:20

@Fivebyfive2 DS now has wellie boots (although can’t walk unaided but will holding hands) and a puddle suit. I aim to take him out every morning for a long walk / playground. I’m sure when the weather turns it won’t be so enjoyable though! I’m looking forward to him getting new toys for his birthday in a few weeks so that will help entertain him!

How’s everyone else feeling about lockdown? I’m sure it will be extended which means no birthday celebrations :(

Fivebyfive2 · 07/11/2020 16:42

@Forevercurious, good plan and I'm definitely with you on looking forward to getting him some new bits and bobs!

How are you getting on with sleep? Joe did get better, but since the clocks changed it has all gone to pot again.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 07/11/2020 16:50

Dd is in nursery 3.5 days a week, so that's not changing.

She'll miss her swimming and library, but will go to park instead 👍

GrannyClanger · 13/11/2020 15:47

Hi all,
Been ages since I’ve been on here! My DS is nearly 11 months old and is crawling and pulling himself up now. Getting less wobbly standing too! I’m back at work now 3 days a week which I’m really enjoying so far although it has only been a few weeks. Struggling to think of ideas for birthday and Christmas presents - what are you planning on getting/have got your babies for their first birthday?

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 13/11/2020 16:37

For birthday and/or Christmas she's getting a scramble bug, a Shape sorter and someBooks

Have asked for
Books
Play tunnel
Xylophone
Wood dolls
Nesting dolls
Galt Pop up toy
Pounding bench
Bubble fish lamp thing
Toddler tower, to help in kitchen

jpaws · 14/11/2020 21:24

Hi everyone, hope everyone is coping well with babies and lockdown. Cant believe my lo is 10.5 months already, in such a crazy year where has it gone?! He has been walking unaided for about a month now so need eyes in the back of my head. He has just learnt to clap with open palms rather than fists and has in the last two days started pushing himself up to standing rather than pulling himself up. He says dada quite a lot but hasn't really said mama yet. He was also poorly with a snotty nose/cold last week but popped another tooth through so he is totalling 7 now. I feel like all of a sudden things are happening and, not sure about anyone else but, I really don't want leave to end but time is running out 😩 feels like it's been so long yet it's going to quickly.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 14/11/2020 21:38

How are all you're doing food wise?

Mine is a strange one with food.

So, she just looks at pasta and discards it. Same as broccoli and tomato.

She doesn't/won't eat things like shepherds pie... Where as 2 months ago, she would happily eat that. I would load the spoon, and then she would take the spoon and scoff away.

Now she doesn't like eating from a spoon... So she'll eat her porridge with her fingers (fine) but won't touch things like shepherds pie or curry.l 😐

She'll happily eat sweet potato 'chips', or. Sticks of celery, cucumber, raw pepper, but give her a steamed carrot baton...nope, gets cast aside.

Weird, huh??
