Hi All,

Thought I’d just start a December 2019 babies thread for those who have given birth in December and want to catchup/chat/rant/need support etc.

We are 11 days in...!
How is everyone doing?

@lazybutton ah, I’m so jealous of the cheese! What symptoms does your DD have? I’m really not sure if we have it or not tbh! our main issue was awful awful sleep (which could have just been the 4 month regression) seeming to be in a little discomfort at night with wind and green mucus nappies (these have stopped). We’ve spoken to a paediatrician and I can reintroduce slowly dairy into my diet in a month 🎉

bespokepaininthearse · 22/06/2020 22:23

Not been around for a while, how is everyone doing? A is 6 mo the this week and we gave him his first taste today, avocado! And he wasn't too impressed 😂 will be following wean in 15 for the next few weeks now just to get into the flow of it all. A can now sit up unaided and is happy playing like that for ages, we still do tummy time but he's not a fan of it so he usually rolls straight over, and very rarely rolls back to front. We also say dada and yaya, it also sounds like he says hiya 😂

He still isn't sleeping through the night, he goes up at 7/730, in his own cot, then he wakes when we go to bed at 11 ish and he comes into his next to me crib with a bottle for the rest of the night. He stirs a few times when he loses his dummy but goes straight back off, and then wakes at 7. The dummy wakes are hard, how do babies with dummies sleep through?? Any tips?

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/06/2020 13:40

DD is just over 6months now.

We're doing BLW, she's eaten;

Broccoli
Cauliflower
Sardines
Tuna
green beans
Pasta
Tomatoes
Avocado (stains her clothes terribly!)
Soup
Breadsticks
Crackers (matzo, just wheat and water!)
Hummus
Strawberries
Banana
Peanut butter on toast
Omelette
Natural yoghurt
Porridge pancakes
Sweetcorn fritters
Cucumber
Red pepper
Ham
Bamba (peanut puff, has 1g if salt per 100g, I'm cool with that, as she has one!)
Ella's kitchen tomato and leek puffs
Spinach
Onions (in her spinach curry and soup)

So, quite a variety!!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/06/2020 13:42

She likes a peanut butter and banana sandwich! (Or smushing a finger of my sandwich into her mouth 😂)

popgoesperfection · 23/06/2020 13:52

Hi @bespokepaininthearse I have no answer for the dummy waking except cello tape only kidding! N is a nightmare some nights with It, I often regret ever having given him a dummy but on the other hand there great for comfort. Catch 22!!

popgoesperfection · 23/06/2020 13:53

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps sounds like she has tried a great variety of foods so far, is there any she hasn't enjoyed as much?

lazybutton · 23/06/2020 14:03

@bespokepaininthearse
No tips here either. We’re still on hourly wake ups from midday until 5am 😳

bespokepaininthearse · 23/06/2020 14:30

Wow @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps you've stormed in with weaning! I love weaning, it's so much fun so I'm looking forward to the next few weeks.

@popgoesperfection @lazybutton at least I'm not on my own with the dummy situation, I can't even count how many times I wake up and shove it back in 🙈 my first never had a dummy so I am slightly regretting it this time, but he settles so quick with one!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/06/2020 19:11

She wasn't initially impressed with broccoli or cauliflower... But still gets given them 😁

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/06/2020 19:13

We never used a dummy until about 4 weeks ago, helps DD settle especially at night. She used to be spot on, bit then DH gave her one 🤦‍♀️. But I'm trying to get her off it by waiting slightly longer each time over night before giving it to her. Hopefully she'll not need it in a week or so. just have to hide the bloody thing from DH

popgoesperfection · 23/06/2020 19:58

That's fab that she is enjoying most of them, and good that you still give her the ones she isn't keen on too. No definitely not on your own @bespokepaininthearse !! How's everyone's bubbas coping with the heat?

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 24/06/2020 08:33

DD is fine in heat - has been spending a lot of time in just her nappy! :)

AliceTheCamelHasfiveHumps · 25/06/2020 20:55

what do your babies play with at the moment?

mine has "grown out of" crinkly toys - she used to love her taggie toy. But now not so bothered by it.

She likes holding bunches of keys, her teething toys, cups and bowls.

she LOVES peekaboo and bouncing (singing games like 'This is the way lady rides', or 'what shall we do with the drunken baby?') - loves looking in the mirror at the "other baby" :D :D

she goes in her jumparoo maybe two or three times a week, but can get overwhelmed after a bit.

we splash water in a tub in the garden, she seems curious about that.

what do your ones like playing with?

Fivebyfive2 · 25/06/2020 21:10

Joe also likes splashing around and mirrors! Airplane baby, row your boat usually get a smile now. He just seems to really like us chattering to him and is fascinated by faces; ours and pictures in books etc. His favourite thing seems to be rolling around in the nip on a big towel 😂 Interesting you saying about the jumperoo, as I've found Joe can get quite overwhelmed in his after more than a few minutes.

popgoesperfection · 25/06/2020 21:48

Same here, N is definitely a water baby! Such a shame with COVID that things like swimming is closed because he would love to go in a big pool! Also loves talking to the baby in the mirror haha my phone, tv remote and keys are a big favourite at the minute too.

bespokepaininthearse · 26/06/2020 14:47

A absolutely loves his jumparoo, he is quite tall so has been using it for a while, he throws himself around in it whilst singing to himself, so fun to watch! He really likes a sensory ribbon toy and I bought a water-mat with fish in it which he sits in and squishes. I am quite sad that I haven't been able to do all the swimming lessons, my first was in a pool weekly from very small having lessons but obviously we can't do that this time round. We have a hot tub so on hot days we have had a good splash in there(no bubbles and temp down) which he really loves. Any sort of aeroplane or tickling he adores, his giggle is amazing 😍

Comps83 · 30/06/2020 13:47

Does everyone have their baby in a separate room now?
We didn't manage to get a blind put in to what was going to be his room and now we're in the process of moving
I'd prefer to keep him in our room as it's easier for me but he's 6 months tomorrow

popgoesperfection · 30/06/2020 13:54

Nope @Comps83 N is 7 months on Friday and he's still next to me and I have no plans on moving him anytime soon.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 30/06/2020 15:55

Lord no, she sleeps next to me in her side sleeper still.Even though she's an excellent sleeper, she very occasionally needs help getting back to sleep (dummy). Sod getting out of bed and trekking across the landing at 3am!

Maybe when she out grows the side sleeper then will think about moving her. Either to cot in our room or her own room.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 30/06/2020 15:56

There's no rules as to when they "must" to in their own room, do whatever works for you!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 30/06/2020 15:58

DD is 7 months in just over 2 weeks.... Still no teeth. Have your mini monsters got theirs yet?

Comps83 · 30/06/2020 16:41

No but he was very twisty last night and wouldn't go to sleep . Kept chewing on the bars of his crib so I think he'll have one soon

popgoesperfection · 30/06/2020 17:21

No teeth here yet, very dribbly but no sign of one popping through.

popgoesperfection · 30/06/2020 17:24

And agree with @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps do whatever works best for you regarding moving him into his own room. I just can't be arsed getting out of bed to resettle him, much easier to reach my arm over to him in his next to me, and half the time he's pulled his way onto my bed so his top half's on my bed and bottom half in his bed 😂

forevercurious · 30/06/2020 19:20

DS is now in his own room, I didn’t really want him to go as he’s still up in the night but he’d learnt ho to get from the next to me crib half into my bed, he was also rolling around in it so much and attempting to pull himself up it didn’t feel safe anymore so he’s now been in his own room a week. He is sleeping better up twice a night usually but i hate having to get out of bed to feed him so if you can keep your baby in with you I would for as long as possible!

No teeth here either.
