Hi All,

Thought I’d just start a December 2019 babies thread for those who have given birth in December and want to catchup/chat/rant/need support etc.

We are 11 days in...!
How is everyone doing?

Hi everyone
My lo has got two teeth, bottom front, which came through together a few weeks back now. Think he is teething again though as we had a rough day yesterday. He is still in his next to me on a night time but we are going to finish his room next weekend as he wont fit in it for much longer. He sleeps through, just stirs a bit when we go to bed but usually puts himself back to sleep. He still lifts his legs and wallops them down which we can hear in the living room below without the monitor lol. I've started weaning... doing a bit of both blw and tw. The purees keep me sane apart from he sometimes clamps his lips together. The blw he seems to prefer as he does it on his own. He has gagged a few times and I internally freak out. Don't like that at all! It doesn't seem to bother him too much though once it's over. I keep reading it's all about tastes in the first year so I'm trying not to stress.

Is everyone sorted with childcare now?
I'm not going back to work til January and thought we'd found somewhere we liked but now we are moving house soooo...
Worried we might not be able to get him in anywhere . Especially with covid 'bubbles' in nurseries .

Comps83 · 07/07/2020 11:07

Also since starting weaning has anyone's else noticed their baby is going solid poops?

Fivebyfive2 · 07/07/2020 14:33

@Comps83, our plan for nursery is up in the air too, with covid plus we planned to take him to one near to where my office will be moving to, but apparently that move may not be happening... I'm off until Dec so have some time and we are lucky to have both sets of grandparents nearby!

Omg the poops now Joe is eating... It's like the playdoh machine from hell 😂

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 07/07/2020 15:34

Childcare hinges in my return to work, which hinges on whether I can change the terms, which hinges on the covid situation, and it's a school so, who flipping knows??

Oh yes, solid poos are fun.... We use cloth nappies too....we have a poo scraper!!

How much food are you giving your babies?

Example of DDs food in any given day:

She has 2 "meals"

About 3tsp of porridge with either a strawberry mashed into it, or s two if peanut butter, or plain, followed by formula.

maybe a bit of my omelette (thumb sized piece) and a small stalk of broccoli. Or a about 3-4 pieces of pasta Bolognese with a cucumber stick.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 07/07/2020 15:42

Just wondering if I am giving her too much for her little digestive system to handle???

Fivebyfive2 · 07/07/2020 17:15

Joe's still on 1 meal a day, usually lunch. We sometimes give him 'tea' if he doesn't have much at lunch though. He usually has a few spoons of ready brek or 2 ice cubes of mashed veg. Occasionally he has a pouch 🙂

popgoesperfection · 07/07/2020 17:33

We're on 3 meals a day now 🙈 he just isn't interested in his milk anymore, I try not to worry if he's getting the recommended amount of milk because my first cut his milk out really young and he's a healthy 5yo now. So I give him food at breakfast, dinner and tea and he has milk around 7am, 1pm and 7pm.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 19/07/2020 14:57

Hello everyone 👋 just checking in.

DD is now 7m old 😱 (16th)

Appears to be dropping a day time nap, so down to two.... Anyone else's?

lazybutton · 19/07/2020 20:54

I’m lost at sea when it comes to naps. She’s had one today, two micro ones yesterday. I’m not one for a routine but her sleep isn’t great at night either so something needs to happen before I burnout!

forevercurious · 20/07/2020 09:14

Yes we’re down to two naps a day now, half hour in the morning then usually around an hour and a half / 2 hours later on. DS began crawling last week which is just a whole new ball game!

Has anyone else’s little one suffered with constipation since starting weaning? Some days DS struggles to go and really grunts and strains. When he does go it isn’t hard but is getting more substance to it now.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 20/07/2020 10:29

Poo can vary from fairly squishy and painful to pass to quite loose!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 20/07/2020 12:20

.... the screaming has returned >.<

😬😥😤

Anyone else have a screamer?

She's been doing it for the past 2 days, and OMG it goes right through me - very testing.

popgoesperfection · 20/07/2020 13:48

I'm still trial and erroring naps, night time sleep is horrendous at the moment and am starting to struggle so trying ANYTHING right now to see if it helps.
@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps do you mean paddy screaming? Ds is definitely doing that, especially if I don't pick him up. I feel your pain! And yes VERY testing!!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 20/07/2020 14:33

Not paddy screaming.

Just a squealing piercing loud scream...when she's happy ..excited..bored...thinks she's alone. ....

It's driving me crazy.

I try to ignore her when she dies it....

forevercurious · 21/07/2020 15:12

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps ah the poo sounds similar! (Can’t believe I am writing about poo on the internet - being a parent has definitely changed me) 😂. Yeah DS is also a happy squealer - he stopped for a few weeks but seems to have started up again. He even done it in his sleep yesterday!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 21/07/2020 21:03

Same. Hoping she will just stop one day (soon! 🙏)

forevercurious · 23/07/2020 07:30

DS has been squealing since 10 past 6 this morning! 😴

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/07/2020 09:14

DD seems the stopping the squealing.... It's definitely tailing off ... 🙏

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/07/2020 09:49

Currently trying to go cold turkey on her dummy... As she's becoming more and more attached to it for sleeping.... And I'm a lazy mum and don't want to be up and down putting the bloody thing back in for her in the small hours when she eventually moves from her bedside cot.

Wish me luck, we started last night...

popgoesperfection · 24/07/2020 19:55

How have you got on so far @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps without the dummy? Did she go to bed last night without one?

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 24/07/2020 20:10

Started at bedtime... for some reason?

Bedtime 1, she took awhile to settled, cried a bit, cuddled her, out her down, dad walked in room just as she was dropping off...all hell broke loose, because she was overtired at this point ....calmed her down with cuddles and singing,....dad walked back in room ...she spotted him....alll hell broke loose .... calmed down and settled, fell asleep on me!

Night 1. She woke at about 11, settled herself after about 30seconds.
Woke at 2ish....couldn’t settle, have her dummy
Woke at 5ish, settled herself within a mini

Day1 naps.... 2 naps now preceded by huge tears.... cuddled her to sleep.
Night 2 ... was noisy for about 8 minutes, but not upset. Woke 3 times.and went back to sleep on own after about a minute

Day2 naps (today) fine, noisy, sang her a song to calm her. She then laid quietly and fell asleep.

Night 3, just o now. Was noisy, chatting, but fell asleep in minutes.....

We shall see what the night brings!

But 🤞 seems to be improving, so I’m hoping tomorrow’s naps are relatively fuss feee!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 24/07/2020 20:12

Oh! And the screaming has stopped 🙌

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 24/07/2020 20:14

And we’re back to 3 naps Confused
