Hi All,

Thought I’d just start a December 2019 babies thread for those who have given birth in December and want to catchup/chat/rant/need support etc.

We are 11 days in...!
How is everyone doing?

Yes @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps have a VERY whiney baby here, 26 weeks tomorrow and hard work at the moment !! Only wants to be sat on my knee or picked up otherwise he whines and moans all day long.

Fivebyfive2 · 01/06/2020 16:31

Yep! Joe is either super happy or very fretful and when he is fretful, only being on mine or dh's shoulder will calm him! We have been getting proper, full on 'ha haaaa' laughs from him recently though and he's also gotten better at sitting and seems determined to try and crawl, so wondering if he's just got a lot going on?! Xx

forevercurious · 01/06/2020 17:00

Yes DS is being very Whiney and whingey. Isn’t feeding as much, harder to get down for naps, doesn’t want to be down but doesn’t want to be cuddled either! It’s been a hard three or four days!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 01/06/2020 17:34

Ah! I'm so glad it's not just us - must be that time of their life =)

Fivebyfive2 · 01/06/2020 18:22

@forevercurious, omg this is Joe, bang on! We've started taking him out in the pram more just to get him down!! Xx

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 03/06/2020 07:51

BLW has begun apparently. DD has started to put food in her mouth, has gummed/sucked on cucumber, cheese and bread over the past 3 days or so. 👍

So, hopefully in a few weeks she might start to eat s bit more.... Slow and steady

Fivebyfive2 · 14/06/2020 15:40

How's everyone doing??

Joe is still unpredictable with sleeping but we're moving him to his room this weekend and are looking at ways to change our evening routine around, so we'll see! He sits up so well now, we've started food this weekend! Just a couple of spoons of puree veg and some ready brek, but he's already started grabbing the spoon and doing it himself a bit so that's awesome 😀 Still hasn't rolled back to front though, hopefully it will come soon. Tummy time is basically us putting him down he flips himself straight over and we start again! Sometimes he's trying to crawl, if he's feeling adventurous.

popgoesperfection · 14/06/2020 19:53

Hey, sounds like joes doing great already with weaning @Fivebyfive2.
We're all over the place with sleep too, thought we had almost cracked it with popping dummy back in at around 6ish then back down till half7 but that only lasted a week 🤦🏻‍♀️
Noah is rolling all over the place but frustrated when on his tummy because he wants to crawl !

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 14/06/2020 20:48

DD is 6 months on Tuesday.

Solids are going okay, she kinda realises what she has to do, she is gnawing and chomping at the food 👍

She finally rolled over front to back a few days ago (managed back to front a while back) but I think it was more by accident than design.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 14/06/2020 20:50

Sleeping is A* here...sorry!

Although saying that she gets an A- for the last week, as she kept waking up after the first 90mins, crying, but went back to sleep with help of dummy...Then through to 6:45 👍👍

forevercurious · 14/06/2020 21:46

Weanings going okay here, we’re having to introduce one new food at a time due to potential allergies so it’s a bit slower than I’d have liked but it’s going well so far :) a lot goes on the floor but he’s enjoying it!

We’re still up 2 to 4 times a night. I’ve started trying to get him used to his room by putting him in there for his daytime naps but he’ll only sleep for half an hour in there and won’t resettle at all so I’ve been putting him back into our room for his longer lunch nap just so he’ll get a decent amount of sleep! I should probably try harder to get him into his room but it seems like a lot of effort at the minute! 😂

he still hasn’t rolled over from back to front and rarely rolls front to back, definitely no rolling around all over the place. However he does roll in his crib more and has started to sleep on his side now.

lazybutton · 16/06/2020 10:03

Hey! We’re still on wake ups every 2hrs at night but it’s better than the hourly ones a couple of weeks ago.

She’s rolling from back to front but not back again. Usually ends up screaming in frustration 😤.

Really looking to weaning this time round! Seemed so daunting with my first but eager to crack on. Although I need to dig out some books. Anyone’s little one got a suspected milk allergy/intolerance?

forevercurious · 16/06/2020 10:46

@lazybutton yes we have suspected CMPA! I’m really not sure if he’s got it or not and I’ve been dairy free for a couple of months as he’s breastfed! Hoping to speak to someone who knows more about it as I’m just winging it atm!

2littleboyzmum · 16/06/2020 19:43

How's weaning going for everyone? We started the week before his 6 months and I feel Isaac has taken to it really well, he'll eat all types of purées but just like his brother hates mummies version. I tried puréeing Broccoli and he just spat it out, I don't think he liked the taste or texture. I just don't think I have enough confidence for blw at the moment, we do wafers for a snack which help a little.

Sleeping for us is going well he goes down between 8/9pm sometimes 10pm if daddy has got his giddy in the hours before. He wakes up sometimes between 4-6 usually due to wanting his dummy that's fallen out in the night then properly wakes again at 7.30/8am. No nighttime bottles just one at between 8 and 9pm which is when he'd go to sleep anyway

New milestone this last week is that he got a tooth and is getting his second so went and got a toothbrush and toothpaste

popgoesperfection · 16/06/2020 19:56

That's great @2littleboyzmum. Sounds like sleep is fab for you ! We're doing a mixture of blw and mushed food, he handles the lumps really well, I've had to sort of push my anxiety aside to allow him to explore food himself and he's so impatient for the next spoonful I don't have a choice but to give him some to hold himself hahaha

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 16/06/2020 20:05

We have been doing BLW about 2 weeks. She now knows what to do with food most of the time.... Although she did spend a good 15 minutes looking at broccoli instead of eating it today 🤷😄 but she did yam down a peanut puff, a piece of pasta, some baby corn and a strawberry and about half a mini breadstick.... Yesterday however, not interested. So I'm guessing tomorrow will be a lower intake day.

2littleboyzmum · 16/06/2020 20:11

@popgoesperfection it needs to be when you've got other children and still go to work. I'm a nightmare when it comes to broken sleep 😂

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 16/06/2020 20:40

DD has a little white dot for a tooth on her bottom jaw... When do you to start brushing, how much showing counts as broken through?? Confused

And then does that mean we have to move her last feed (just before being put down)

Maybe I'll try moving it gradually from now...so we can get to bottle then teeth, then nappy and books then to bed.

popgoesperfection · 16/06/2020 20:53

😂 well my first was a horrendous sleeper and I thought you didn't get two the same ... I was wrong 🙈😂

2littleboyzmum · 16/06/2020 23:50

I've just started as soon as that tooth was through the gum enough and we were weaning him so that plaque didn't build up. Although I've got to admit I do forget some nights because I'm just not in the routine of doing it yet. Just go with the flow of what works best for you, I do it either before the last bottle if I can tell he's going to drop off during or straight after otherwise I take him up and do his teeth afterwards

jpaws · 17/06/2020 11:18

Morning everyone
Just catching up on what I've missed and sounds like a few are doing well with the weaning. My lo is 6months next week and we are waiting for then before trying him with food. I feel like I could have started now or last week but OH keeps saying he isn't 6 months yet - that will be my fault as that's all I said to him when he wanted to try it like a month a go!

Also we have begun rolling from back to front and then front to back (yesterday he rolled four times in a row haha), he can now sit on his own once we sit him up and balances himself quite well although occasionally forgets and we have to catch him. He has also got two bottom teeth come through the other week. I haven't even thought about brushing them yet oops but he is still just on milk... will have to get him a tooth brush asap and start.
I feel like we were waiting for him to do the above for ages and then all of a sudden he can do them. Madness!
I couldn't be happier with his sleeping either. He goes to bed at 7:30 and that will be him until about 7. If he wakes up slightly beforehand I either pop his dummy in or he self soothes and goes back down until it's time to get up. I feel like we've cracked it so its bound to go wrong again haha.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 17/06/2020 21:33

I'm working in putting an extra nap in for DD.

She had somehow got down to 3 half hour naps... !

So, am trying to get her to sleep an extra nap at least. So she has then at 9,12,3,5 ish and in bed at 7-8.

She's had 4 good sleeps today! Ranging from 35-60mins 👍

popgoesperfection · 17/06/2020 21:47

Where does she nap @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps ? Noah really struggles with napping, he is cuddled for them all and think if I put him down he definitely would only have half hour for each.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 18/06/2020 08:34

Various places

If at home, in a travel cot downstairs. Or on the sofa if I'm sitting with her and having a rest.

Otherwise, she'll happily snooze in the buggy, sling or car seat.

lazybutton · 19/06/2020 22:49

@forevercurious

Exactly the same boat here! I’ve finally spoken to a GP this afternoon and I’m eating dairy for 2 weeks 🥳 and keeping a diary of her mood, any symptoms, nappies etc. Definitely buying some strong cheese tomorrow!
