I start on Monday @Geegrl19 petrified!
Here's hoping for mothers day lie ins for us all! X

yevans · 06/03/2020 19:13

Any ideas on how to help dry patches on my girls hands? We have cream for the rest of her body but she's a serial hand sucker and uses that to help her get to sleep so don't want her to ingest any. And I don't think mittens would stay on for very long at all!

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 07/03/2020 09:45

Vasaline? Assume thats ok to eat as use on lips etc?

Horehound · 07/03/2020 13:08

@yevans I think at night times I'd put Aveeno cream on the baby and then cover with scratch mitts or something?

Megan2018 · 07/03/2020 16:39

@yevans try nipple cream like Lanisoh as that can be ingested and it’s very moisturising!

yevans · 07/03/2020 16:52

These are all great ideas, thanks!

DustyDoorframes · 07/03/2020 17:17

@yevans coconut oil at bedtime? You can use it in cooking.
Good luck @Spongeb0b !!

Geegrl19 · 08/03/2020 23:58

Good luck tomorrow @Spongeb0b. You'll be fine 😊

Dyra · 09/03/2020 18:46

Hope all went well and you had a good first day at your new job @Spongeb0b.

DustyDoorframes · 09/03/2020 19:26

Yes, I've been thinking of you all day @Spongeb0b !

happydays00 · 11/03/2020 20:39

@Spongeb0b hope it went well!

I was supposed to be starting a 5 month freelance contract in a fortnight but I got a call on Monday to say it had been cancelled because of the Corona Virus. (I work in events and the industry is just in complete chaos right now!) It's really stressful as this company don't issue a contract, just a PO number so technically I'm not able to charge any cancellation fees despite arranging childcare 3 x days a week for the next 6 months 😩😩 it's an absolute nightmare and I'm feeling very stressed about it. My nursery require a terms notice to cancel so technically I'm stuck..

DS is still waking once in the night for a feed, then around 5am when I bring him into my bed and then around 6:30/7 for the day. I'm starting to struggle a bit on this as generally I only doze from 5am onwards.

Question re weaning: DS is doing great now and eating plenty of fruit and veg (as well as protein and whole grain carbs) but has started to struggle with constipation. Is this just his little digestive system re adjusting? DD didn't have this so this is new territory!

Geegrl19 · 14/03/2020 23:28

@happydays00 how stressful. The world has gone mad! Not sure what to say but am hoping you are finding a way to cope with the worry. Easier said than done. The media have blown this so out of proportion. Makes me so angry. What happened to common sense.

We've had a horror week. Nate permanently seems to be snotty. Not sure if teeth or a virus this week but his sleep was horrific. No temp but nothing you could put your finger on either He feeds 3 hourly through the night which is killing me. Hasn't had much solids as even the slightest lump makes him gag and spew. They say to feed milk first and then an hour later solids, but he's still full from the milk then! Can only get him to take that baby rice stuff at the moment. Turns nose up at everything else. Would try 'proper food' but he choked himself so is too worrying.

He is so whingy and just moans all day and still won't nap for longer than approximately 20-30 mins, never resettled. Am taking him to the docs tomorrow to have his ears checked out. Not that I want to be going somewhere where sick people are but I need to rule that out.

What with all this corona rubbish too I'm not really feeling too great. Haven't slept longer than a four hour stretch (and that's even rare) since before Christmas ☹️

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 15/03/2020 06:48

We have had a crap week too gee

Baby had bug last weekend. Both ends.

Nappies have continued but i think may be down to teeth (one through and one in gum)

He is also randomly projectile vomitting maybe one bottle in 24 hours every day. This is new since last week.

I dont know if hes still a bit unwell or if its his new party trick but i am not down with it

Megan2018 · 15/03/2020 08:35

Hello all, just checking in. Don’t remember to come on here much now as use Facebook much more.
Felicity is 6 months today, we started BLW on Friday night. She had Carrot batons and Broccoli florets. Both went straight to mouth and brocolli definitely consumed based on the bits in yesterday’s nappies Grin
Yesterday she had watermelon (which she went mad for), red pepper (just sucked) and cucumber sticks which she ate lots of. Thrilled with her so far although drinking water not so successful yet.

Debating what to do about baby groups-we do Music Bugs in Monday’s, Swimming on Tuesday’s and Baby Signing on Weds. 3 weeks of term left for each. I’m not panicking but have a very good friend who is a rather eminent professor in virology and her thoughts yesterday were rather stark Sad.

In other news we are still bed sharing and on at least 3 night feeds. Daytime naps still fairly elusive too unless in car. But feeling pretty good. Oh, but I apparently have developed postpartum thyroiditis (currently overactive) but only being monitored for now. Apparently can either just resolve itself or will develop and need medicating.

My boss still dodging my flexible working (back in Sept) and I can’t push without going in to work. But it’s in Leicester which I am avoiding as my rural area has no cases of Corona yet whereas my office right next to the hospital where someone died of it yesterday. I work at a uni and students are diseased enough as it is.

Not managed to read all the posts yet but hope all is well.

Horehound · 15/03/2020 08:54

@happydays00 what are the TS and cs if the PO? Maybe you could get a portion of your fee?
Must be so worrying especially cause this looks like it might be going on for most of this year. Poor you.
Our nights are very much like yours. Arthur sleeps from around 6.30/7ish then wakes around 11pm for a feed and then the last week he's slept through until 5 or six and depending on the time I can usually feed him and get him back down for another hour or two.
I think the more he eats the better his sleep will get and I've noticed him really upping how much he is eating whether it's breastmilk or weaning food. Ml
@Geegrl19 we've also had a snotty nose. It's been over a week and I got it too as well as my mum. It's not like congestion though but just never ending snot. Horrible and Arthur really struggling to actually go to sleep because he can't breathe. But I find if I feed him straight before then that kind if clears his pipes and he can sleep then. Hope it shifts soon though!
Sorry to hear your having a hard time with him only napping 20-30mins. This was what Arthur was doing when I had my little breakdown. I honestly swear by the Lucy Wolfe routine. Arthur's naps and nights have has a complete overhaul and I always track the sleeps with the baby+ app so previously he was averaging 11 hours sleep and now it's 14!
I find if I feed Arthur before a sleep, then sleeps an hour when he wakes he is ready for some food...could you try that?

Our weaning is going well but omg the farts are poop smell Envy yuk.

@megan2018 I've canned all groups for now. That's great felicity has taken to weaning so well :)
I spoke to my boss the other day and she was saying I'm getting a bonus because they thought I hit the ground running when I started in the job and really appreciate me and can't wait to have me back. I had to me too the possibility of going part time and she mentioned there's lots of options and part time would be "worst case scenario"...eek! That's what I'm wanting to do! Actually night have to because the nurseries seem to be full in the town we work. We have an appointment to go see a private one which looks absolutely amazing and my husband has his heart set on but the only downside is it's further out if the town at the other side from us so will make the journey even longer. We are now thinking we will sell our house in the village and move back to the town (my hometown)> shame cause I live our house but really we are wasting our time commuting and we really want Arthur to go to the private school (which is the same nursery).
Hopefully you get yours sorted soon. When is it you were looking to go back?

Horehound · 15/03/2020 08:56

Argh sorry for typos. Mentioned, might, love...and others.
Silly phone

happydays00 · 15/03/2020 18:05

@Geegrl19 that sounds really tough, hang in there. I feel sure this sleep must improve - as will the weaning!! DS was absolutely appalling to start with with the gagging and vomiting on even textured purees but now is eating most things absolutely fine. Can anyone help give you a bit of respite? How is work?

I literally cannot even contemplate the fact that this Coronavirus is going to hang about all year - my DH and I are both self employed so without any salary but with all bills money will, obviously, run out very quickly! Our nursery is being extremely dramatic too in comparison to most others.

I'm still doing all my groups - for swimming evidence is chlorine kills the virus and swimming pool changing rooms are so gross I don't let DCs touch anything and wash hands straight after usually anyway.

Horehound · 16/03/2020 10:19

Think I'm done with the reusable nappies. I cannot stand the bumgenious elementals. They are far too bulky and with a very wriggly baby they take so long to get on and we both end up upset! And can't get the fit either on them so think they're out the window!

Geegrl19 · 16/03/2020 10:34

Oh @thatscurryfungebitch (what is scurry funge, or am I being thick 🤔🤔) projectile vomit sooo not good. It's so hard to catch spew you poor thing! Hope that passes soon

@happydays00 it sure is a worry about the virus and where it will all end isn't it

So my poorly Nate has a throat infection. Went to the docs today (was made to wait out in the car park as he has the snots before being saved through to the doc - can't be too careful) and so he has been given antibiotics. He had a terrible temperature too poor love. So is fun and games giving the medicine. The antibiotics aren't too bad but the normal meds like the ibuprofen for his temp taste foul. Is a struggle to get them in without him spitting them out. I'm in bed with him now. Think it'll be a long night. Cos he's snotty too he keeps choking on bits of phlegm and I'm paranoid he's going to spew in my bed!

Geegrl19 · 16/03/2020 10:35

*waved through to the doc

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 16/03/2020 13:26

Taken from urban dictionary ...

Scurryfunge

A hastytidyingof the house between the time you see a neighbor and the time he/she knocks on the door.

Dyra · 16/03/2020 15:42

Oh @Geegrl19.... Nate really has put you through the wringer. If there is any justice in the world, he is going to be the easiest toddler, child, teenager and adult imaginable. I truly hope it all eases up on you soon.

@THATscurryfungeBITCH Definitely the phrase of the day! 🤣

@Horehound I'm with you on the weaning farts front! 🤢 Gives new meaning to the word stench. Plus Alice has returned to an every other day poop schedule. So when she does eventually go, a full outfit change is invariably required.

@Megan2018 I'm still going to all my groups, but the general feeling is that it's just a matter of time until they stop. Dreading the thought of isolation. It's going to be bad enough with a baby and DH (working from home for the foreseeable future). I can't imagine having to isolate with toddlers and older children. My thoughts go out to those who do.

I hate this bloody virus. Parents in law are supposed to be flying out to New Zealand in a fortnight for a 3 week holiday of a lifetime. It's not officially off yet as technically there's nothing stopping them from travelling (US travel ban - they transfer at LAX - expires before they're due to fly). However they'd need to self isolate for two weeks in their hotel room when they got there (if they make it through US customs) so they're not especially keen to go now. All they can do is wait to see if they can claim any money back. We'd also normally do the rounds of family around Easter, but now it's a question of is it worth the risk of exposure to each other. Especially as more than a few are high risk. So done with it already, and it's barely begun.

Geegrl19 · 16/03/2020 21:29

@THATscurryfungeBITCH I love it! Only time I do tidy my house 🤣🤣

@dyra lol, he'd better be! Sorry about your pil. My cousin and husband are here at the moment. Trip of a lifetime. The F1 was cancelled and so was their cruise. Whole holiday ruined and they're flying home tomorrow, two weeks early. Feel so bad for them.

On a brighter note, Nate seems a bit better already. Have had smiles and babbling this morning so meds starting to do their job. Have a feeling I won't be back at work tomorrow, but not sure he'd be right for daycare anyway given the current climate. So good to see smiles again!

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 17/03/2020 02:00

I have just tried to book an online food shop and not only can i not get delivery for atleast a week, both asda and tesco show no stock of cow and gate stage 1 formula has anyone else had trouble finding formula?

Myspiritan · 17/03/2020 06:57

@THATscurryfungeBITCH I’ve heard you can order through pharmacies and they can get it within 48hours, but I guess they may be affected too... might be worth a shot though.

Anyone else terrified by the prospect of being completely alone all day at home with small children everyday for the foreseeable? My sanity is definitely kept in check by getting out and about every day and going to groups. Confused
