Thanks @Dyra really sorry to hear @Megan2018 such a worry when they're poorly

Spongeb0b · 28/02/2020 14:35

3 days a week @DustyDoorframes thinking about asking if they be spaced out so im not away from DS 3 days in a row Sad

DustyDoorframes · 28/02/2020 14:39

@Spongeb0b I LOVE working 3 days on alternate days. It means you are not away from either life for too long, and always back on the scene tomorrow. Things can (almost) always wait til tomorrow so you rarely get embroiled with work when home and vice versa.

THAT90sBITCH · 28/02/2020 18:40

Hope she is feeling better soon megan

I have been applying for new jobs, had one interview for somewhere i would really like so fingers crossed

Old job want me back 3 consecutive days. Dont really fancy that!

Pampers 4+ baby dry havent leaked yet! Three nights now! Most he has been in one is 10 hours but all other nappies werent even lasting 6 hours so i am impressed

Dyra · 28/02/2020 19:49

Huzzah! Success! Long may the dryness continue! 🥳 Good luck with the job search. @THAT90sBITCH.

db92 · 28/02/2020 21:08

@megan2018 really hope she's feeling better soon! She's absolutely beautiful

How's weaning going for those who've started?

We're on week three and the purées have been going down well. Still a lot of sick though.
I've been trying to give some finger foods at lunch times or along side a purée for him to have a go himself and am really struggling with the heaving. I've tried not to intervene as I know he needs to get used to the textures but I just can't 😬 also he's heaving so much that's he's throwing up. Is this normal? Will it pass?

Horehound · 28/02/2020 21:18

@db92 oh right we don't have any heaving or vomming??
I am basically doing purées and he just has a few teaspoons, sometimes only one and sometimes maybe 7 or 8.
I tried him with finger foods but he isn't so interested. He did have some avocado and some banana but he's only gagged maybe three times so far. Nothing like what you are describing but I'm really not sure what is normal. Can you ask your HV and maybe see if they can watch a feed time?

I was thinking Arthur isn't eating as much as I think he should be Confused

kyles101 · 28/02/2020 21:33

Oh @Megan2018 I really hope she's better now. Poor poppet.

DS mainly has finger foods, so far he's had pear, baked apple, avocado toast, boiled egg, banana, Ella kitchen crisp puff thingies, cucumber, steamed carrot, broccoli, baby sweet corn, chips 🙄, so loads actually!! He's really enjoying it, the only thing he's gagged on is a chunky fish finger thing. And he eats yoghurt like it's going out of fashion - but he has to hold the spoon - he just doesn't get it if I put the spoon to his mouth 😂 we've had a couple of tantrums if I've not loaded the spoon quickly enough!!

OP posts:
db92 · 28/02/2020 21:58

The purées are fine and he won't heave on them u less it's a slightly thicker consistency.
He has the ellas kitchen puff things and does brilliant and has heaved. But I've tried soft carrots, broccoli, cucumber to just nibble at, banana etc and all have made him gag and most end up in a lot of vomit.

I did think about asking my HV but she really is useless and just tells me to see a GP about absolutely everything. Maybe I could pop to the local clinic on Friday and see what those HVs say?

DustyDoorframes · 28/02/2020 22:21

@db92 could just be a bit early, and his gag reflex is still really far forward. Sounds like trying the different HVs could be worth it though, if yours is rubbish.
Fingers crossed for your interview @THAT90sBITCH ! Are all your essays in??
Hope today was nice and quiet @Megan2018

Horehound · 28/02/2020 22:25

Yeh maybe you just need to wait another two weeks or so then Try again

THAT90sBITCH · 28/02/2020 22:59

Each of my two uni modules has five assignments and then a big end assignment. I now only have one normal assignment and the end one left for each module. So 6 pieces of work down, 4 to go! Next one due in two weeks though and i need to pull my finger out!

Horehound · 29/02/2020 07:49

Woo hoo well done @THAT90sBITCH you're amazing. I have no idea how you manage!

Speaking of weaning . Omg the farts and poop smells...Envy (not envy!) Yukkkkkk

THAT90sBITCH · 29/02/2020 07:56

Ty horehound!

I have been a bit lazy on the weaning front so far but we are still a week off 6 months anyway. Just been doing one try on porridge / puree a day (but non yday as was so busy!)

Dyra · 29/02/2020 08:51

Been super lazy on the weaning front. Still got a week to go before 6 months old though. She's really showing more and more interest (staring at + reaching for) what we're eating now.

So far, we've tried cucumber (twice) and a hard boiled egg (once). The egg produced a spectacular yuck reaction when it eventually made it to Alice's mouth. It was also much messier than I imagined it could be. Her clothes might be recoverable. The cucumber was merely gummed at slightly. All of it has eventually been reclaimed from the floor uneaten. She's also held a baby carrot and a Wotsit (accident) but made no move to eat them. Might try broccoli or some toast later.

Horehound · 29/02/2020 09:23

Omg so the farts came to fruition in the form of one mother load of poo.
Omg we had to shower him and all clothes are in the wash. DH was almost sick lol.
When I heard the "can you come through to help?" I rolled me eyes but I understood as soon as I saw it lol

Got him down with his giraffe and music from the lullaby lambs mobile. No white noise needed the last few times so that's a step forward although we did use it to prolong his sleep when he woke at 5am thus morning. It's so hand though cause that kept him in his cot asleep until 7

Geegrl19 · 29/02/2020 11:46

@Megan2018 what a worrying night. Hope she's well on the mend now. High temps are very stressful.

Yay to dry nights @THAT90sBITCH

@Spongeb0b I've been back at work 4 weeks now. I do three consecutive days. I find this good as by the time I've done them I'm ready to be at home and at the end of my days at home I feel I'm ready for work again. Gets them out the way in one go too. Nate goes to daycare and they've been great. He is very happy there and they love him. He spends the day charming them and smiling at them! I found the thought of being back at work worse then the reality. Hope that all reassures you. Must be a shock though going back in a couple of weeks as opposed to still having a couple of months off. Ideally I would have liked more time but I'm in Australia and you don't get very long mat leave here unfortunately.

We tried the baby rice today for the first time. He did pretty well. Reckon he had half of it. Made a nice facepack out of it too. Must get to making some veggie purees. It's on the to do list...

happydays00 · 29/02/2020 13:48

@db92 my DS was the same with the gagging and the vomiting. I waited a few weeks and have tried again and so far, so good. He's still a bit dramatic and does a little, lone cough after anything remotely textured but isn't projectile vomiting like he was a couple of weeks ago. He gets a bit angry if I try to give him purees, he just wants to do it himself, so I've had to persevere with the finger foods!!

db92 · 29/02/2020 14:52

Thank you all for the reassurance re the gagging and maybe just trying again in a few weeks. I think that's what I'll do 🙂

He is completely happy to be fed by us at the minute so we'll just continue this way and go from there. If the gagging persists then I'll give the HV a try.

I've recently had my part time hours confirmed and feel much better about the idea of going back to work in a few months. I'll be doing consecutive days too I expect as It's what works best in my role. I'm kind of looking forward to a few days a week of adult time lol

Stroan · 29/02/2020 15:38

@megan2018 poor thing, hope she's feeling much better now. Our instincts are a wonderful thing, definitely best to get checked out.

@horehound that's what about a quarter of poos are like here. I have a bucket especially for soaking poo-ey clothes and he regularly has a bath after a megapoo. Worse now he's sitting up, it seems to shoot up his back. Bleurgh.

@db92 DS will not accept smooth or purees food at all. He's all about the finger foods, but does gag a lot. Sometimes the gagging goes on a bit too long so we pick him up and tip him over, then he pukes. Not sure if it's reflux related or not? He goes straight back to ramming handfuls of food in and doesn't seem bothered by it at all.

Stroan · 29/02/2020 15:42

Oh! He rolled today! He was on a playmat at my bootcamp and just did it, then the whole.class was watching for him doing it again. He doesn't seem to like doing it when we are too close Grin

Horehound · 29/02/2020 19:30

@stroan oh a soaky poo bucket! I just put everything immediately into the wash. God it was horrific. I watched him do it. He was in his jumperoo and just stopped and made a bug straining noise then came the poo and then came the tears! Think he got a fright!

That's great about him rolling! Typical about gi

Arthur has managed to front to back now too. He really moves around his cot now!
We seem to be making such good progress with sleep and naps but then the last three nights for putting him down for his main sleep he has really fought it, cried loads and got himself in a state but then for his naps he's going down so fast and I'm not needing to use white noise. So strange how it's changing and one thing gets better and one thing gets worse.

Also he picked up some steamed carrot sticks today and some little cheese pieces so that's progress too along with some purée!

Geegrl19 · 29/02/2020 22:50

@Spongeb0b meant to say, I reiterate what dusty said. Do whatever you can to sleep. A great night for us is waking for two feeds and he still comes in bed anywhere from 5am. I've a had a few horror ones though where I've had to sleep sitting up with him on me and then go to work which was a killer. They pick up a lot of germs at daycare unfortunately.

Dyra · 02/03/2020 09:15

JFC what a weekend. Alice went down with a tummy bug, which then resulted in DH and I also going down with said tummy bug near simultaneously. Naturally little miss patient zero was also on a Daddy and cot strike, the end result of which meant I also went 24 hours without sleep.

Feeling marginally better now, but I could sure use some more sleep.... 🥱

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 02/03/2020 09:53

Dyra that sounds really crap! Try and get some rest today! Flowers
