Thought I would attempt a new thread (sorry 2Happy)...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
2Happy · 19/08/2007 09:12

UD - sorry to hear about dh's friend
Jodie - sorry to hear about the egg allergy
DH - the study came out last year or the year before, I remember reading about it on MN. It was published in the British Medical Journal first, Jodie, so no logos there ! And from what I remember of the thread on it, it was an american study which got people whose kids had had SIDs to remember if they had had a dummy in when they died and compared to a radnom sample of other mums. It seemed a baby was more likely to die if there was no dummy and they suggested it was to do with helping them breathe overnight. Personally, I don't think that if you've never used a dummy this study would make me want to suddenly start using one (maybe if I was a smoker it would) but then both my kids have had dummies at night when they are babies so it's easy for me to say!

dh randomly announced his family was coming over for supper last night so that was me cooking for 6 adults and 2 toddlers. Then he announced that because I was cooking he'd been looking afte the kids (well ds2 did do the most enormous explosive poop, that'll be the chili we'd had the night before!) he hadn't got to chat with his brother so we're going to ILs today. Great. A whole weekend with the ILs, just what I always wanted . He was working last weekend, and is working next weekend, when do I get to spend time with him?! Humph. And I couldn't even get my Kenwood chef, I'm still £55 short . Unless I raid the tokens given to ds2 when he was born...[bad mother]

theUrbanDryad · 19/08/2007 09:24

2Happy - do it, what he doesn't know won't hurt him! (i've raided ds' pennybox for money for bread and milk - need to get out of that habit soon methinks! )

dh is sad cause no-one said anything about meeting him on Wed!! egocentric male!

canmummy · 19/08/2007 12:15

Well so much for spending all my time on MN - I can hardly drag myself out of bed! Good news my pain is much better I'm just so tired....

I hardly seem to spend 2 mins with lo at the moment, dh has just taken them all out so I can rest. I'm just getting her to cuddle at feed time and we've put a bed guard on our bed so I can feed her there without worrying about her falling out.

2H - poor you with ILs - my MIL is falling over herself to look after dc and it's driving me potty! She'll even want to take dd2 to school on her 1st day I bet (over my dead body)

Trixy - we're still avoiding dairy which was interesting when I was stuck in hospital. Had my breast pump with me and everyone was really helpful with me expressing. We have an appointment for 3rd September so see what happens then (managed to get it brought forward as dh works at the hospital and went to see paediatrician himself!!!)

DH - I read this a while ago I think but it's only relevant if the baby has always had a dummy. I'm sorry but I can't be bothered to read it again so might be wrong (can't be bothered because I'm tired not anything to do with you or the subject

Wilkie - I've got one of those prams too and have to admit it's not as good as I thought it was going to be. I've already had to have a new hood for it as the original one ripped. Good luck with trying to get a replacement!

Jodie - poor Ethan! Food allergies are such a nightmare (I've discovered). It needs to be properly tested as egg allergy is one of the things you need to know about before having vaccines.

Off to the shower now and then I might have to go back to bed. Supposed to be going to our next-door neighbours for their ruby wedding anniversary party but don't know if I'll make it. Don't know why but feel like crying all the time

JodieG1 · 19/08/2007 13:41

Wilkie - thanks, he seems just fine now thankfully and was fine afterwards just scared me!

DH - Thanks. I love Monsoon what a bargain you had there! I've read that report before but can't remember why it didn't apply to me, I'm sure it didn't though because of what we do but my mmemory fails me, unless I'm making that up lol. Will have a read through it later to check.

Trixy - thanks I have that page bookmarked.

UD - Sorry about dh's friend, must have been a shock. Hope dh is ok. We've just turned Ethan's car seat around so it's forward facing (he's well over 20lbs now and quite long too) and he much prefers it. I know it's safer to be rear facing as l

fuck dd just swalled a coin and im waitin for mum to come wath the others. Off to a&e

theUrbanDryad · 19/08/2007 14:35

omg Jodie - it never rains for you eh? hope dd is ok. xxx

JodieG1 · 19/08/2007 17:31

and we're back now and dd is fine They x-rayed her chest to make sure the coin had gone down far enough and thankfully it had. They gave her a cup of water to drink first to see if she could and she finished it which was good too. Just have to wait until it comes out now.

JodieG1 · 19/08/2007 17:33

2happy - wasn't me that said about logos hehe. Just use the tokens if you have to and don't worry about it.

canmummy - hopefully he'll get tested soon. Maybe your hormones are making you like that? Are you still bf?

2Happy · 19/08/2007 17:44

Ah no nor it was, Jodie, sorry. Blame it on tiredness - dh wanted...YKWIM last night. I had been kind of hoping he'd take ds2 and let me have an early night. I thought women were supposed to be at their sexual peak in their 30s . Hope the coin doesn't cause any probs!

Canmummy - sending healing vibes. Hope things start feeling better soon

ds2 has a temperature today. He's a little irritable but nothing specific. I wonder if he's going to sprout a tooth or something?

Wilkie · 19/08/2007 17:50

Canmummy - hugs. Is it the fact that you had an op that has upset you i.e. they cut you open? If so, might be worth talking it through with your GP.

Jodie - hope DD is OK!!

UD/2Happy - raid away!

Not much to report here, DH has appt with bank tomorrow about the business loan so please cross fingers and send positive vibes our way.

I start back at work tomorrow - feel quite indifferent about it TBH. I don't love working for my company, just feel very 'meh' (to use a UD-ism) about it. Feel a bit sad about leaving J

Actually...come to think of it feel a bit 'meh' in general but came on today so that could be it!

Hello we have had a busy day bit not done much, been cruddy weather so Ellie and I walked up to a boot fair whilst DH and Hattie stayed home. When ellie was a baby I never ever bought/used 2nd hand stuff but got Hattie a vtech push along walker for £2.50 looks new so have smothered it on antibac and she loves it and surprised us my standing up holding it and then took some steps before she fell over (nooooo she NEEDS to stay still!). Also got a brand new in the box vtech steering wheel/spinning wheel toy thing that goes on the floor and she loves it (and ellie has regressed and decided she likes baby toys)

Popped up and saw both set of nannys/grandads and then been home all afternoon, caught up on all my ironing/cleaning whilst dh persuaded ellie that she loves to watch sky sports with him think hattie was on the sofa chewing the remote.

We have just realised that there is only as shower in the accomodation we are going to on holiday and ellie is shower phobic. So we spent lots of the afternoon talking about how big girls have showers etc etc and she decided she wanted to try, 12minutes later I am still persuading her to actually get out of the shower and now she is a big girl I
have to use the hairdryer to dry her hair (another big no no before!) cant believe how grown up she has become lately, but I dread to think if I am ever going to see my bathroom in 15years time!!

2happy-how was the weekend with il's

dh-thanks for offer of the raincover but I managed to get a quinny one on ebay for a tenner so very about that

canmummy-hope you feel better soon

jodie - omg re ethan and caitlin hope shes okay

LAL you ok I text you earlier but no reply (I am assuming you must have a 'real life' opposed to my boring one )

UD Hope you had a good trip back

Loosh - thinking of you tomorrow

Sorry cant remember who else had posted

JodieG1 · 19/08/2007 17:53

2happy - don't worry about it hehe. Ethan was quite grumpy before getting his first tooth and the same with the next that came through on Saturday. I've been giving him calpol or nuerofen to help with the pain and also teething gel. It really helps him. Hope your ds2 is getting a tooth and not ill.

Ethan is starting to cruise round the furniture now, goes from the coffee table to the sofa and moves along it a bit. Seems weird seeing him like this as it only seems like yesterday we brought him home from the hospital.

eandh · 19/08/2007 17:54

good news jodie

good luck MrWilkie and hope tomorrow is okay wilkie

2Happy · 19/08/2007 17:55

Good luck tomorrow for the Wilkies!

JodieG1 · 19/08/2007 17:56

Wilkie - fingers crossed for your dh, I'll be doing the same myself hopefully soon! Let us know how he gets on

eah - we have one of the v-tech walkers they're great aren't they and well done Hattie We also have a steering wheel toy maybe the same as you have. Glad Ellie loves the shower now

VinoRouge · 19/08/2007 18:35

Wilkie - my job is about consumer rights. See here

for template letters. Your legal/statutory rights are against Mothercare/reatiler and are effective for up to 6 years from date of purchase. Any guarantee from Silvecross is in addition to this. I would suggest you write to Mothercare (Head Office is best) and give them a timescale to respond to you. If the fault is a manufacturing defect (which is sounds like) you are entitled to a repair or a replacement, whichever is most cost effective for Mothercare and canbe provided within a reasonable time. Unfortunately you can't insist on a full refund. If they opted to bypass repair/replacement the next remedy is refund minus a deduction for the usage you have had since December - no formula for how this is worked out. If you bought it using a credit card copy the letter to your credit card co cos they are as respomsible for sorting it out as Mothercare. There is a template letter for faulty goods and faulty goods bought on credit. Anymore queries give me a shout.

Hope your first day back at work is ok.

I have been away with Mum and Dad this weekend. DH been in Berlin on a stag weekend. He's due back at sme point but am pissed off he hasn't rung me today to even say hi. It can only mean he would have sounded very rough. Can't be bothered with him feeling sorry for himself later.

I went to church with parents this mornng and Ellen was so good, made a few noises but happy ones. Just before the last hymn I picked up her breadstick for her.....from between her legs in the pushchair....it was covered in poo! Her nappy had leaked so she needed to get everything off and the oushchair cover needs a good wash now.

E&H I'm of your new buggy

Wilkie · 19/08/2007 18:45

Great thanks Vino! Are you still coming over on Weds?

OP posts:
geoRGEEweasley · 19/08/2007 18:50

Loosh - thinking of you for tomorrow.

Wilkie - good luck back ast work and fingers crossed for dh

geoRGEEweasley · 19/08/2007 18:53

Had a lovely weekend but am knackered. LO had a great time at the in-laws whilst DH and I went to a wedding near Worcester. Had a fab time, caught up with loads of mates, and got merrily pissed.
Stuck on the M1 on the way home which was a bit tedious, but back now to shed loads of posts.
Sounds like a few of you are going through the mill at the minute - Canmummy I hope you are feeling better soon. I am sure it must have been a big shock to find you'd been cut open. Jodie - hope the lo's are all ok.

VinoRouge · 19/08/2007 19:02

Rgee I was stuck in the tedioud M1 today too. I was ranting at myself!

Wilkie - I've booked next week,Weds 29th off work, was that the day I'd suggested to you? If thats ok with you I'll come then.

Been home for 2 hours and online all the time. Must unpack the food shopping!!!

Wilkie · 19/08/2007 19:25

Sorry Vino - that was the date I had too

OP posts:
theUrbanDryad · 19/08/2007 19:43

we were stuck on the M1 too - going South though...

glad to hear dd is ok Jodie!

Lizzzombie · 19/08/2007 21:31

Hi all...so, I've not been on here for 3 days and a million messages have been posted!
Hope all had a good weekend.
LTH - did you see any of the airshow? I am SO over the noisy planes, but was amused to see LO totally sleep through a Euro Bomber fly past thing, definately had to be the noisest thing I'd ever seen or heard, but he didnt bat an eyelid in his buggy this afternoon!
I went out on Friday night with some mates, first time on a proper bender with a babysitter for LO. Had a fab time. It was so nice to have some real life back again! I could get used to going out on Friday nights again...although a baby sitter on top of beer money = expensive night out! x

laughalot · 20/08/2007 09:06

Well I am getting rather worried now as lauren is defo no where near doing what your lo are doing she can sit up with pillows round her as she is still a little unsteady, she isnt showing any signs of crawling or walking . She sits and screeches but dosent say mama or dada should I be worried you would think being a second time mum I would know.

2happy

theUrbanDryad · 20/08/2007 10:41

lal - Zac doesn't sit up on his own very well, he can for a few seconds but then tilts sideways! he sort of shuffles on his face but doesn't crawl yet. i don't think you've got anything to worry about, but the 8 month check is coming up so if you're worried have a chat with the GP?

eandh · 20/08/2007 10:58

my area doesnt do check ups, they'll see Hattie at a year and thats it!! I remember with Ellie having more regular check ups.

LAL Hattie sits well but has only crawled backwards once by accident and doesnt look like she'll crawl at all (ellie crawled for about a week then walked!) we still have NO teeth but shes doing well with lumpy meals, I just mash them with potato masher so the handblender is back in the cupboard.
I asked in woolies but no more woody's, however, one of the ladies is a customer at my work so shes going to let me know if they get any more in, buzzlightyear is in an envelope and will be posted at lunch time!!!(ellie and aiden both have a 'thing' about toy story in case anyone was wondering what I am rambling about)
