TA the amount of money that we have paid out on this baby in desperation, a nursing chair, reflexology, osteopathy, all in the name of keeping her quiet! So don't worry you are not alone! And yesterday we spent £15 on a stuffed triceratops from the natural history museum, for DD obviously !

(it's called Terry by the way!)

bumperlicious · 04/08/2007 13:25

Thanks for the tip off btw that book is £12.99 in blooming marvellous but only £8.99 in Toys r us!

trendaverter · 04/08/2007 14:01

yes I shall justify my toy shopping spree by saying that I never bought any birthing balls, cushions etc etc when pregnant and didn't do NCT, only the free NHS ante natal classes, so I have balanced it out

I tried to get a passport photo of DS today, omg have you read the rules?? impossible...I gave up. But I am going to have to do it soon as I need a passport for him!

No worries Bumper, pleased to be of service!

bumperlicious · 04/08/2007 14:39

TA have you not known us all long enough to know you don't ever have to justify shopping sprees on this thread. except usually our sprees are on shoes, bras and clothes from next and la redoute! at least your's was on the LO! btw, will you shorten his name at all? just curious as it's such a cute name.

trendaverter · 04/08/2007 14:56

Hmmm I very occasionally call him Sully but usually I call him Sullivan.

Am not too fussed really - I will probably call him Sullivan but if people want to abbreviate it that's fine with me, I am not precious!

However I objected to my Nan calling him 'It' and I am bored of clarifying that it is indeed his first name and no I did not spell Simon/Solomon wrong on the birth certificate.
People are such comedians

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/08/2007 19:58

helloooooo

where is everybody?

It's taken me ages to catch up and now I've forgotten it all again...obviously sunstroke (yes, honestly ) has further addled my baby softened brain!!

Charlie999 · 04/08/2007 20:07

Hello Daisy - did you have a good time?

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/08/2007 20:15

I did thanks charlie...weather was fab although cottage tiny and a bit grotty, but we were outdoors most of the time so it didn't matter.

I am now fossil hunter supreme...found an ammonite and a shellfish yesterday!

How are you?...low sodium sounds scary! I hope you're washing down crisps with andrews liver salts

Charlie999 · 04/08/2007 20:19

You were certainly lucky with the weather? Sounds great. I'm looking for a cheap cottage in September when all the kids are back at school - how was it with DD - did you have to take everything but the kitchen sink? Was she OK and settled although not at home?

Yeah, sodium was a bit of a problem - but not as much as coming off the ADs - sodium normal again now, back on ADs and scan Wednesday, so getting there hopefully!

So DS is into fossils and dinosaurs now then?

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/08/2007 20:20

I thought there would have been a new thread by this time.....now thinking that it's me who does all the talking on here

Charlie999 · 04/08/2007 20:21

it has been pretty quiet this week........you're not the only one that's been on holiday though....

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/08/2007 20:29

cross post!

we didn't take too much stuff for her as I'm BF...but we took far too many clothes etc as there was a washing machine in the cottage and we only wore about a third of it all. I had one pair of shorts which got washed at night and put on again next day. I only had long trousers on two days as I'd burnt my ankles and needed to keep them covered.

DS less impressed with fossils than DH and I, but we were on yorkshires Jurassic coast so it had to be done.

spent the week fishing for crabs off the harbour and rockpooling. DS caught a stonefish which was v impressive as things in rockpools tend to move very quickly.

thoroughly recommend Staithes as a holiday destination if you have young kids, although car access is restricted in the in the village and its a very very steep hill up to the car park. great place though...we're gping back for two weeks next year!

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/08/2007 20:34

charlie..if you're looking for a cottage, we've booked through this website before.

Charlie999 · 04/08/2007 20:36

Sounds lovely Daisy . We always go to the coast as well as we take our labrador who needs plenty of exercise! We went to Devon at Easter and had a fab time - our last holiday on our own - now we want to do our first one as a family

Yorkshire a bit far away for us to drive with small babs and large dog (although I'd love to go there).....been looking at Pembrokshire coast...or possibly Norfolk....will see what I can find

I'm quite enjoying my current 6 month holiday

Right, off to watch TV with DH.....later x

Charlie999 · 04/08/2007 20:36

Oooh thanks - looks like a good site, shall bookmark that one!

foxybrown · 04/08/2007 20:49

Hi Charlie, and welcome home Daisy!

bumperlicious · 04/08/2007 20:49

Hi daisy glad you had a good holiday and great weather. How were things with the DC's?

We are on a virtual holiday. Come back to my home town to stay in a house belonging to a family friend. It's very posh, the shower doubles as a sauna which I took advantage of today! DD undid all the relaxation though by crying whenever she was feeding today, so basically fed every hour! Seemed to have a poorly belly

Fossil hunting sounds cool. DH loves fossils, he even has a fossil hammer! [geek emoticon]!

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/08/2007 20:59

then we too are geeks....we bought one, LOL

DD was fine, she slept most of the week, woke up today a different baby..she is now making noises to get our attention and laughing and smiling....routine is ut of the window at the moment though, and she has nowe taken an extreme objection to my left nork. I can write a new book as well.....good car parks to BF in on the east coast of Yorkshire. I can especially recommend Saltburn for the lovely views of semi naked surfers

Ds was a bloody nightmare unless we sere fishing for crabs (which i have to admit was great fun). No garden/tiny cottage meant for serious cabin fever, and the seagulls had him up at 5:30 every morning. I think I only made it past 8:30 once and then I got blind drunk and threw up three times!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 04/08/2007 21:09

Hi everyone

Just done a quick catch up - seems like you're all in fine spirits!

Welcome back from your hols daisy
Bumper I got one of those black and white books for Ed and he LOVES it - stares at it for ages!
TA - LOL at changing baby on the floor with the dog around! When the HV last came around to weigh Ed she put the scales on the floor - and I put him in (naked) - the dog them trotted over and licked his willy! I could have died! Luckily the HV just laughed - the dog then nicked the alcohol wipe and had a mad drunken fit running around the house!

Had to laugh!

bumperlicious · 04/08/2007 21:09

How much did you actually have to consume to be blind drunk? For me a bottle of wine would probably finish me off, but pre-pg I could happily polish off two! In fact, when my dad came down to stay once and we did the whole father-daughter bonding thing (long overdue) we polished off 5bottles of red between us and stayed up till 6 and I felt fine the next day!

You have to be careful with the hammer daisy, lots of beaches won't allow them as it can be dangerous. One of the best places in the country for fossils is Lyme Regis in Dorset.

Hope you have all had good days. I'm getting tired and cranky a lot at the moment. Think DH is reaching the end of his teether, I'm so grouchy to him, and make him feel bad for having any time to himself, and for the fact that I have to feed DD. Bless him, he puts up with a lot

bumperlicious · 04/08/2007 21:11

LOL DKMA! The things these HVs must see! Something always goes wrong doesn't it when you are so anxious to do everything right?!

Btw, I was wondering, where will your modelling pictures appear?

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 04/08/2007 21:16

Think the pictures will be used to advertise the slings in the baby press (mother and baby mag etc) and on their website, and in their new catalogue.
Got my free one though the post today and DH has had it on all afternoon - it's flippin brill!
this is it again!

loonylovegood · 04/08/2007 21:28

Evening everyone!

Just checking in to say hi and welcome back daisy! Glad you had a great time!

I've had william hanging off my norks constantly for the past couple of days, but I guess it's the lovely warm weather making him thirsty. Also trying, quite unsuccessfully, to potty train alice. Luckily I have a large amount of terry nappies which are v useful for mopping up wee off the floor!

Hope everyone has had a lovely sunny day x

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/08/2007 21:34

Bumper...I only had about 3/4 bottle of wine , but I did start on an empty stomach and polished it off in record (post-baby) time of three hours. What a lightweight!

Hi DKMA, how are things going with you now? you getting into a routine now? Those slings look really good. Babyboo hates her baby carrier. By the time we get her into it she is in such a state and just screams and screams.

Hi Holly...LOL at the potty training.

DD is being a monster tonight. She's making all the right noises and actions suggesting she is ravenous, but she won't keep my nip in her mouth and is trying to push me away. It's so bloody frustrating.
