Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi ladies had 3 again today don't know how you do it those of you with 3 of your own but I rationalise if they were all mine I would probably be more shouty not fell had to provide entertainment etc.

Re the pain thing hate to disillusion you but infants do remember painful experiences although not in the way we would that's why I would always offer some pain reduction method during imms

lo asleep at mo and need to provide tea be back later......

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 18:00

TA - you are lucky to have your mum to help out. Am very of those of you with family to help. Must be a godsend.

LOL about your spending so much on toys. Better have lots of babies to get your moneys worth!

Andiem Wondering what you thought about delaying imms for lo's? I have heard that the main reason they do it so early is that babies are still in 'the system' and therefore easier to monitor and control the whole imms thing (slightly cynical I know). I've always felt that they are so little to be pumped with a combination of things. Part of me wants to wait until she's a little bigger, but my rational side tells me that with 3 older siblings she is far more likely to come into contact with illnesses so I probably won't delay it. What's your opinion?

Righto, have to go and shout now. Oh well, on the bright side I can shout now, then put them to bed early for being naughty. Evil mum that I am

andiem · 03/08/2007 18:07

foxy the reason for doing them early is so they are protected early from others who may not be immunised. The consequences of an lo getting the disease is very serious. They are exposed to a lot more things in day to day life than what they get in the imms so personally I wouldn't worry

Older two now runnning round garden screaming friend late to pick up daughter lo dozed off oh well more time for mn

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 19:50

Yes, I think it is sensible to have my lo immunised. She was exposed to chicken pox 2 days ago by someone who brought a contageous sibling to the sports centre . The general consensus of the mums there was that she'd be immune as is breastfed, but then I saw on here that there was a 7 week old bf baby who had it. She didn't come into contact with the child, but I wasn't convinced that she'd be immune. Wondering what you thought? Promise no more questions, although I do appreciate your opinion.

Derlor will be back soon, so we can share out our health issues

andiem · 03/08/2007 20:06

Hi foxy she may get it as bf will not give immunity for chicken pox but you may be lucky and she won't. Have your others had it?

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 20:08

thanks! yes, they've had it, am sure she'll be fine.

so have you got yours asleep for the night? time to relax! yay!

Seansgirl · 03/08/2007 20:15

TA LOL @ £150! I had a play gym from ELC for DD and she hated it and was scraed of it too - she preferred a cheap plasticy thing at the health centre when we went for weigh ins! DS does not like any of his toys, he has a mild interest in what was his sisters favourite - the tiny love symphony mobile - but if he isn't in the mood he almost gets cross with it and hits the animals they come round and screams of course!

Lucky old Derlor on hols! Hope she has some nice weather!

Anyone any experience/advice on a bottle fed baby that dribbles the milk whilst feeding - I have tried changing teats but no luck. Am also having problems with the milk he has all of a sudden become bunged up with the formula - have switched brands and seem some improvement but have to say feeding is a bit of an issue here at the moment.

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 20:24

Hi there Seansgirl! How are things?

Can't help with the formula thing, except to say I used Hipp Organic with mine and never had a problem - if that's any help!

andiem · 03/08/2007 20:25

no baby not asleep dh holding as trying not to feed agin too soon he is doing a bit of feasting 6 wk spurt me thinks.

Seansgirl have you tried water to help with constipation in between ff also very hot so may need some water can't help with the dribbling sorry

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 20:27

baby not asleep here either, and chewing on empty boobs - ouch! Its just nice to have some peaceful time with my new lo.

bumperlicious · 03/08/2007 20:39

Hi all. Hope you have all had a good day!

We went to the big smoke! Took DD on her first trip to London as we are in Surrey for a few days. Went to the natural history museum. She was very underwhelmed - slept the whole time (which means she probably won't sleep tonight!). But DH and I are very excited at the big stuffed triceratop that we bought as a momento for her. Was a very long day, I got tired and cranky and then DD cried on the train the WHOLE way home to the dismay of the rush hour commuters. Got a few filthy looks, but a nice granny was sitting opposite us and being very sympathetic! Was good to get out though, London isn't particularly buggy friendly though. Am absolutely knackered now!

It's lovely staying in my mum's friend's house though. It's very posh, 4 story town house, though with all the stairs I am appreciating living in a flat with the LO!

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 20:43

Gosh Bumper! That's very brave - well done you.

Are you going to claim squatters rights in your new abode then?

Charlie999 · 03/08/2007 20:46

Hi all

Seansgirl - I FF and my LO only dribbles or spits when she's either had enough or needs a burp! Sometimes I lay her down a bit flatter IYKWIM to help it go down her throat rather than her neck . I use Farleys and have never had a problem.

Foxy - my DD was held by a chicken-pox-contagious 5 year old when she was 3 weeks old and she didn't get it (even though I haven't BF'd her at all) so fingers crossed....

Catch up Sunday - visitors galore at the moment...

bumperlicious · 03/08/2007 20:56

Yep foxy, that is our plan She stocked up the fridge for us as well. And the only reason we have internet is because we've latched on to the wi fi network of the hotel opposite

TA, is you are still around what book did you get for the crib? Thinking of getting this for DD, as I think she is getting bored in her moses basket and pram. She does quite like the play gym though. I have drawn some black and white shapes and hung them from it, as well as a plastic spoon which I coloured with black and white patterns! I want to get a little mirror too.

Seansgirl · 03/08/2007 21:00

Hipp, thats what I've just changed to Foxy! Poos seem to have improved a bit but am going to try it a bit longer and if no major improvement I have got some 'easy digest' milk to see if that helps.

Hadn't thought of lying down a bit more - I suppose I have been trying to get him sat up in an attempt to minimise wind. Oh, this feeding lark isn't easy!

Seansgirl · 03/08/2007 21:02

Hi Andiem thanks yes have been trying the water - somethimes he will have some, though mostly spits it back as he now does with infacol .

Seansgirl · 03/08/2007 21:05

One good thing - my maternity bundle on ebay is up to £82!! hooray!! 19 hours to go!

bumperlicious · 03/08/2007 21:12

Bloody hell SG that's great!

trendaverter · 03/08/2007 21:23

Hey Bumper!
Yes that's the same as the one I got, it's pretty good and LO has been staring at it quite happily. I got mine from toysrus, would recommend it.

Is £150 bad? People are laughing at me...
but £40 was a change unit and £15 on 'sundries' so it was closer to £100... or am I still an idiot?!

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 21:24

my eating officially became out of control today. am starting weightwatchers online as of monday.

foxybrown · 03/08/2007 21:32

BLOODY HELL! 40 QUID FOR A MONTH! will wait until i can go to the meetings

Seansgirl · 03/08/2007 21:48

aaawwww TA we'renot laughing at you, just with you! You're not mad, I'm sure if I totted up stuff I buy that i'd be just as bad! I haven't bought DS much as he has DDs hand-me-downs! How tight am I?

Foxy! £40!!! I'm joining slimming world when DD starts school in sept! Am very fat!!! Have gone up a size

trendaverter · 04/08/2007 07:48

I am actually a tight bitch, most of his clothes are from Ebay and I am terrible for bargain hunting, but the toys were purchased in earnest and I didn't have time to wait! I needed a break from entertaining!
Toys are expensive though hey?
I looked on Ebay for play gyms etc but they are just as expensive second hand!

I do plan on recycling all this though, as I said I am very tight, I keep all packaging etc as anything I don't want to keep for the next one goes straight on Ebay!

On the tight note - Foxy I didn't join weightwatchers for the same reason, I figured cheaper to join my local gym at £30 a month..!

foxybrown · 04/08/2007 10:50

I'm only laughing as I have cupboards, boxes, drawers full of toys which have hardly been played with, but seemed like such a good idea at the time.

Trouble is, I don't get rid of them as I keep having babies and I think they will play with them

TALLULAHBELLE · 04/08/2007 10:56

Hi TA Have just ordered play gym from Boots - hope DD likes it. She hates the vibrating chair with dangly toys but is strangely content when lying on her changing mat on floor - 6 quid from Boots!!!Obviously a girl of modest tastes.

Last weigh in on Thurs DD was 8lb 7oz (now 7 weeks) so still a tiddler compared to the others on here. Is almost out of tiny baby clothes - be great to get her into newborn size soon.
