Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Charlie999 · 23/07/2007 21:26

I'm still waiting for my book to arrive!

My DD has been asleep most of the afternoon and evening as well. I shall try and wake her for a feed in half an hour - easier said than done

bumperlicious · 23/07/2007 21:26

I will be driving with DD up front. Don't have a posh enough car for airbags! Prefer it as at least I can see her and give her a dummy if need be.

DKMA sorry you are having a shit time. Is it just a growth spurt? I hope it gets better for you. At least he is thriving!

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:27

DKMA after this growth spurt he will calm down a bit - you will have nice big full norks (like me currently, just recovering from 6 week spurt!) and that is the best time to build up your supply of EBM quickly.

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 21:29

DKMA...my DD is like that with EBM. I've left her with some EBM twice now (about 3.5 ozs). Each time I've fed her before I left, been gone for two and a half hours tops, she's had the EBM while I've been out, and then she's gone straight back on the boob when I got back. It's almost like it doesn't count if it comes from a bottle rather than boob.

I have given her a bottle of formula as well so that I could get a full nights sleep. i left Dh in charge and took myself to bed for eight hours. It didn't affect her BF ability and she doesn't appear to have suffered for it! In fact she has positively bonded with her dear daddy.

Derlor...we have a routine (of sorts). It just involves being wide awake for three hours in the evening, LOL

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 23/07/2007 21:31

Delor - I'm trying to
DH is very good and does me some dinner everynight but getting to eat in the day is hard - I always have a screaming baby in the background.
I'm drinking tonnes of water tho and taking multivitimins.
I'm trying to do a routine but it gets thrown out of the window everyday because he just wants to feed all the time!
I managed to have 1 hour away from him on Saturday (I needed some time out) as I thought he was well fed and would have a nap - but DH said he just cried the whole time - and he fed like a starved animal when I got home.
If he's putting on 13oz in a week - thats good tho isn't it? Surely he is getting enough volume? He's always got a wet and cruddy nappy!

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:31

well Dsiay look on the bright side she's better awake now than at 0300! at least she's happy

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 23/07/2007 21:37

I reckon my baby has been 'growth spurting' since birth!
My boobs are huge - please got don't let them get any bigger! They seem to be leaking like a dripping tap too - totally gross!

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:38

13oz in a week? you got double cream in your norks??????
i thought i could sense you not eating properly, multi vitamins - NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
can you prepare a sandwich for the next days lunch in the evening when DH is there?
do you like porridge/cereal - if so have it poured out in the bowl before bed and then you'll be more likely to eat it in the morning.
good on the dringing water though but you need food for energy - Lo is currently sucking all your spare energy from you so you need to eat more than usual just now

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:40

oh sorry DKMA i've gone all healthvisitory on you

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 21:41

DKMA....try to take care of yourself. If you know he's had lots, can you put him in his chair and just let him cry while you get some grub?

I know this phase is hard, but it does get better. I can actually get things done around the house these days as DD is content to be awake for being awake's sake and not cos she's hungry or wet. Six weeks is such a turning point....hang in there, you must be doing a grand job if he's putting on weight like that. DD managed 2lbs in six weeks and I thought that was an achievement!

Derlor, quick question for you. DD's eight week innoculations are due next week, but we're on holiday (shock horror, a week without MN , how will I cope???). Is it OK for her to have them a week late, and if these ones are a week late, will the others go back to the usual schedule, or follow on at four weekly intervals from when she had the first ones?

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:45

oh Daisy we're on holiday next week too!! (wonder if anyone will miss us!!!!)
yeah a week late is not a problem but they will have to run 4 weekly from then as you NEED the 4 week break between them.

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 21:46

....and keep talking to us....learn to type one handed with DS on your nork!

Do you have a sling? I don't, but they are apparently great for settling them and allowing you to get on with things. Or have you tried a dummy? Is he feeding cos he's hungry or cos he just wants to suck?

We tried DD with a finger at first. She was happy sucking oin the finger, but if she was actually hungry the finger just would not do.

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 21:46

cheers Derlor...where are you off to then?

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 23/07/2007 21:50

Thanks ladies!
I will make sure I eat properly tomorrow!
I hate to leave him cry tho - he gets all red and hot - and he has proper tears which breaks my heart .
I'm glad to hear that it gets easier by 6 weeks - lets hope I can hold it together for another 3 weeks!

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:51

we've hired a lovely wee cottage up at Loch Catrine, what about you?

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 23/07/2007 21:53

Yeh he has a dummy - in fact he has it in right now - I do think he is a very sucky baby.
I tried the sling and he went histerical - he seemed to be a bit lost in it? I think the one I've got is better for when they are a bit bigger - might need to get a different one.

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:55

have you got a swingy or vibrating bouncy chair DKMA?

Charlie999 · 23/07/2007 21:56

off to wake up DD for last feed (I wish )

Hope you all get lots of sleep

Bumper - hope you have a good journey tomorrow . At least you can have a nice relaxing bath and lots of help from your mum

Night x

derlor · 23/07/2007 21:59

right i'm off too, 10pm exodus me thinks!! night all x

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 22:10

We're off to Staithes, a bootiful little fishing village clinging to the cliffs on the east coast (near Whitby). You have to leave the car at the top as the streets are tiny and winding and we're staying in a former fisherman's cottage right on the harbour. It's on Yorkshire's Jurassic coast so we're going armed with chisel and hammer for fossil hunting.

Now all we need is some good weather (this was booked in July last year when the weather was hot and sultry...now feeling a bit more about it)

I wanted to try and meet up with the lovely Ria as she's not that far away from there, but she's been AWOL for ages!

bumperlicious · 23/07/2007 22:31

Night guys, thanks charlie, I hope it goes ok - eek! I hope the power stays on over night too! They think it's going to reach critical over night and may be down for 5 days if it goes, and the water 1-2 weeks . Not sure I can last that long at my mum's! DH is gutted that we are having to go

I'm sure it'll all be fine though. Will try and get on tomorrow to let you know that I got there safe. Taking my pump in case I can persuade my mum to do a night feed

Catch up soon xxx

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/07/2007 22:33

Have you got candles to hand for that feed in the wee small hours Bumper?

Try to have a nice time at your mum's!

Take Care

annobal · 24/07/2007 07:11

Good morning everybody!

Quick question as DS3 is crying for a feed again...

He's been up a good portion of the night feeding and I now have very little milk left for him - how do I increase my supply??? Am going back to bed soon to see if that helps - I had plenty yesterday but seems to have disappeared overnight thanks to DS3 and not replenished.

Back after managed to soothe lo...

annobal · 24/07/2007 07:36

Bumper, enjoy visiting your Mum!

Holly I'm so sorry. I hope you get things sorted out quickly.

trendaverter · 24/07/2007 07:49

I am such a knob

I wondered where everyone was since 4pm yesterday, didn't know there was a new thread, I must be tired

Help...anyone... LO had 6oz hungry milk at 9pm, then 6oz hungry milk at 1am, then 6oz normal milk at 3am, then 6oz normal milk at 6am...is this normal?!?
