Charlie - I'm a 1st time mum at 36, and enough grey hair to look older. But decided that going to groups is worth it, even if I feel (or worry that I will feel) a bit "unconnected" with other mums, as it gives me a reason to go out - not that I'm having problems with that, we go for a good walk most days - and gives me some company, and will provide compnay for DD as she gets old enough to appreciate it. And who really cares if I'm the oldest 1st timer there?

loonylovegood · 27/07/2007 11:52

I look 57 though !

You guys are so not old. People are having babies later now, that's all. I don't have any mum friends under 30 and most are nearer 35. I am seen as the weirdo!

I know holly. What is odd is that I was officially classed as an "older" mum during pregnancy, but on discussing contraception post-DD was told I still need a more reliable type as am still young enough to be very fertile. So am in nice half-way position - does this mean I'm middle aged

Charlie999 · 27/07/2007 12:22

Thanks girls . I'm 38 and feel it most days . Made me feel better. I've obviously got a hang-up about it . The midwife I had during my labour was telling me about her daughter who's off to uni this year - and we were the same age.

I've just changed my bed and realised I still have the winter duvet on - are we EVER going to get a summer

DD didn't have enough sleep this morning and was a miserable moo - asleep now though...peace reigns in this house.....

TALLULAHBELLE · 27/07/2007 13:17

Gah - have lost track of everyone again. Hope I haven't missed anything important. How's everyone doing?

foxybrown · 27/07/2007 14:10

no pressure then Andiem better make sure I've got my lippy on that day and the kids are in clothes that aren't too small for them

Charlie, if you'd feel more comfortable we could do a mini-meet up on the 16th before the 'big one'. Sounds like the week of the 23rd suits most people.

Tallulahbelle, how is it going with you?

bumperlicious · 27/07/2007 14:12

Hi all, TA sorry you are so tired, you must be missing DH (me too ) if only for the night feeds!

DD has been feeding so regularly since we've been to my mums, and never quite seems satisfied. Mum trying to make me call HV but I'm sure it's just a growth spurt, and perhaps is feeling unsettled away from home and her dad. Maybe that's the same for you DS TA.

Going home tomorrow though, can't wait!

Daisy have a fab holiday!

Charlie, sorry you are feeling anxious. If it makes you feel any better I feel really young (i'm 26) and feel like older mothers seem to know more than me, most of the women I meet are older. Makes me feel like I'm just playing at this!

foxybrown · 27/07/2007 14:16

hi bumper

I'm such an idiot!!

Did an Ocado shop to be delivered today, as DP is away and I wanted to make sure I didn't have to go to the shops.

So the shop didn't come.

Somehow I changed it to come tomorrow, so have been dragging my 4 round the supermarket this morning AND I missed out on the £5 off promotion AND the free gifts cos the cut off was today.

Stooooopid me

bumperlicious · 27/07/2007 14:19

newborn baby fug foxy!

TALLULAHBELLE · 27/07/2007 14:28

Charle I'm 38 & first time mum. Felt positively ancient @ ante-natal classes which were full of teenagers with their mums who weren't much older than me! But once started yoga & aqua classes met a much wider age range. Now am missing all my wee groups but hopefully will get organised to start some post-natal stuff soon.

TALLULAHBELLE · 27/07/2007 14:30

Sorry Charlie

Hi Foxy - am doing OK -today. Couldn't have said the same last couple of days so just stayed away.

bumperlicious · 27/07/2007 14:35

anyone heard from Ria recently? Cooooeeeeee ria, are you there?

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/07/2007 14:54

hi tallulah,...how's the feeding and weight gain? getting better I hope? i'm still on for the 10th. i'll be off-line from tomorrow for a WHOLE WEEK , but I'll be back next saturday so we can e-mail telephone numbers etc and fine tune arrangements.

Bumper....tis a growth spurt. Put your fingers in your ears and go "la la la, I'm not listening". If she's eating and sleeping and weeing and pooing, she's fine.

LOL it's nice there are so many of us geriatrics about. So much for fertility dropping off when you're over 35. Both of my MCs were first time of trying and DD was second (yes we had sex so infrequently we were able to tell ). And DH and I were both smokers and moderately heavy drinkers at the time!

Ocado are now delivering in my area....I will resist, I will resist, I will resist.

DD has chucked the book out of the window today. She has only slept for an hour and a half since waking at 7:30, but wants to sleep now. Can't really keep her awake can I?

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/07/2007 14:59

ria, seansgirl and doggus have all been very quiet recently. Hello if you're lurking.

did we hear from mytwocents? she was moving house around her due date and was off-line, but I'm sure she had a text buddy.

And still nothing from catsuitgirl

andiem · 27/07/2007 15:12

Daisy I do ocado every week it is sooo worth it do not resist have a good hols we are away the week after praying for some good weather so we can go to the beach

Foxy you just have new baby brain I find I am a bit slower to compute these days......or maybe it's my age I seem to be the oldest oh well maybe I will send a body double to the horniman not sure how they'd manage the bf though........mmmmm

Tallulah glad you are having a good day soon they will all be good days

Bumper my lo has changed his feeding has gone from 2 feeds a night to 4 so me thinks we have got to growth spurt time he was 5 weeks yesterday

Charlie999 · 27/07/2007 15:15

thank-you everyone . You are all SO nice and I've found this site a be a godsend.

LOL Daisy. My DD has had her allotted sleep time today , and she is sitting on my lap struggling to keep her eyes open - poor love. Trouble is, when we take the dog for a swim later, she will sleep the whole time we're out. I'm sure I'll find a way of adapting the routine to suit us.

Lilkel has been quiet too.....

Daisy, have a fab holiday....will be strange not seeing you on here for a week

Charlie999 · 27/07/2007 15:19

btw, can't do 16th, but can do 23rd! I'm sure it'll be great - Got to be brave .

Got a friend who lives just behind there, but never been to the museum before. Spent many an hour sitting outside it in traffic jams when I lived in Forest Hill.....

andiem · 27/07/2007 15:23

have just uploaded new photies of ds1 and 2 boys together I can defo do 23rd

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/07/2007 15:27

they're gorgeous andiem.....seeing other peoples babies is making me all broody, LOL. Must still be pregnancy hormones!

DH has just gone back to mothercare with DDs car seat. The clip that holds the seatbelt at the back was falling off . They were happy to replace it, but we said no thanks we'll have a different one entirely please!

andiem · 27/07/2007 15:38

I feel broody too my dh is aghast we have 3 frozen embryos left from our IVF and I keep talking about using them. He thinks I am mad

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/07/2007 16:00

At least you have the option....my DH wants to book in for the snip as a matter of urgency

My BIL and his wife are pregnant through IVF at the moment. their DD was IVF, then they had a couple of failed attempts in between and on their third attempt they got twins

andiem · 27/07/2007 16:53

that's what my dh is worried about

bumperlicious · 27/07/2007 18:16

when you time between feeds, do you time from the beginning or the end of a feed? Stupid question I know!

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/07/2007 18:23

bumper...i'm just sending you an e-mail....
