Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
juliewoolie · 23/08/2007 09:44

LW A does that sometimes in fact yesterday arvo resorted to walking the streets with him strapped into the baby bjorn just to get him to calm down. Peeing on you is nothing I have twice now been pooded on.

Well succesful night here A slept in his cot all night waking only once to feed(for an hour - growth spurt I hope) then he stayed asleep until 8, think he has been getting disturbed by DP and I in the mornings. Lets hope it continues.

InTheseShoes · 23/08/2007 09:54

LW and L - sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. When T does this (he sleeps through 7-7 at night) it is because he has not had enough sleep in the day, bizarrely, I don't think sleeping through makes any difference to what they need in the day - they still need the rest to recharge thier batteries in the daytime, especially as they are older and more alert now, using more energy. I put T down again about an hour and a half after he wakes in the morning - earlier if he shows signs of tiredness. He is completely breastfed, so I give him another feed before this sleep, even though he will have had one as he woke; my rationale is that he has not eaten for 12 hours, therefore needs a good scoff. Sometimes he will sleep for 2 hours at this nap, and is always brighter for it. On an ideal day (such as last Monday) he will also go down for a couple of hours at 12noon-1pmish. this is not always possible though as poor DS1 would be confined to the house all day long! Maybe Lottie is tired and also it stands to reason that she is hungry if she is sleeping through, as she still needs the same levels of nutrition, just in the daytime! Cranky babies are the worst to handle!

Hope you have a better day today, I don't know how you manage with the studying as well, I take my hat off to you.

It looks like a lovely day here today again, which lifts the soul! DS1 and 2 and I are off to babygroup when T wakes up, meanwhile we are chilling watching Happy Feet. Only one full week of the holidays left now, can't make my mind up if I'm glad or sad about that.

Mum2G · 23/08/2007 13:09

I like happy feet! Being that i was so ill during the preganancy i used to sit and watch a lot of daytime telly, as moving around too much was not an option, am trying not to have the telly on too much during the day now though as i don't want George to become a telly addict!

We have just got back from our trip into town, where George charmed all the ladies in costa coffee while i had a latte and people/buggy/toddler watched - got to see waht i am in for in a year or so! Have fallen off the weight watchers wagon as bought some banana toffee from thorntons, am now feeling ill as have scoffed the lot! It is depressing when i think i have got about four georges to lose in weight! oh well, we go for a walk every day and will be able to take George swimmming now he is three months.

George is down for a nap, i should be iroining ready to pack for our trip to Nottingham - a four hour car journey, hpoefully George will sleep for most of it.

Hope you are having a better day today LW&L

Mum2G · 23/08/2007 13:13

Forgot to say Lupin, we have got Skype but i don't know know how you set up webcam, Dh does though so let me know if you are still stuck with it

scootermum · 23/08/2007 14:29

Happy birthday to us..happy birthday to us..happy birthday to the May thread..happy birthday to us..
And welcome to the newbies..how lovely to get some new faces...Seth is a lovely name as well Supermonkey..by any chance do you like the OC?Or will I still be the only person with an OC obsession?

Blimey JW..That would be quick work..bah,I sure missed a hell of alot of cake though..
Glad you got your card Lgandt..

Love to you and your friend Mrs JB..my cm has gone to hosp today to have a lump removed...they are checking to see what it is..I am on pins..

If its ant consolation LWandL both Mae and Lily have gone barmy..M has woken at 3am for the last two nights, but wont take any milk/isnt wet..for no real reason..L has then woken screaming an hour later..so we have all ended up in bed together, plus the Cat, which is being very clingy.. dont get a wink as am squashed from every direction. When we move am getting a bigger bed!..am knackered so I hope they knock it off soon..

Chelmsford AM..went to Staffs last year and its no where near as well organised so we have bought out tickets for Chelmsford next year already!Feel quite depressed to be back still as we had such a good time...

Glad to hear DH has perked up Lups..long may it continue..are you still moving to Portugal BTW?

Big hi to all ive missed..

M and I have just been for a walk..we are freezing and drenched despite some heavy duty waterproofing and fleece wearing..And I see from the weather than every where else is sunny and nice..My hair is like a boosh!

AbbyLou · 23/08/2007 14:44

Scoot glad you had a good time at V. We went to see The Killers in Nottingham in March and it was amazing. I was just in awe of them really, it was definitely the best show I have ever seen. I still get goosebumps everytime I hear Sam's Town as that was what they opened with.
LW an L agree with what someone else (soory can't remember who) said re hungry baby milk. I changed Ruby onto this about 2 weeks ago as she was starting to feed more frequently again. She still has 7oz about every 3 hours but it seems to have satisfied her for now.

SuperMonkey · 23/08/2007 16:16

Sorry scootermum, no, I don't watch the OC.

Seth has formula for his 11pm feed and I've changed that to hungry baby milk which seems to have settled him better in the night. Or was...he seems to have decided to start waking at 4am for the last few mornings

We're all going on our holibobs tomorrow, Centerparcs in Germany , the boy's first trip on a plane which could be interesting.

aprilmeadow · 23/08/2007 16:48

SM, i would be interested to hear what you think of Germany CP. I have just been to Les Bois in France - was ok, but not as good the the UK ones.

SuperMonkey · 23/08/2007 16:57

It's our first CP experience so I won't have much to compare to. Will let you know what we think though. I'm irrationally excited!

scootermum · 23/08/2007 17:06

Oh..maybe I will try the hungry baby milk as well then..thats an idea..Im not good with the 3 am starts..maybe I could get some down Lily as well..or else, maybe some gin?

We were going to go to Center Parcs with some friends from our antenatal class version Lily..but they said we had to have a 5 bed lodge to accomodate the kids..given that they are all under 2 and are in with parents anyway we thought it was a bit steep and so we are going to the Norfolk broads instead..shame though as was looking forward to all the swimming..OOH!Maybe we will be near SOH..

(actually..'calling, calling SOH..'Have just found out that I can get a train from Ware where I live, all the way to Norwich..so I could come if thats near you..or we could meet in the middle?)

Have a lovely time Supermonkey..(BTW Seth is a character in the OC, s'why i asked )

I know Abby..they were just awesome..Honestly I nearly cried they were so good!I turned around at one point and all my lovely friends just had the biggest grins on their faces..I will never forget it!

SKYTVADDICT · 23/08/2007 17:07

Hope you have a nice time Supermonkey.

I have been to HV and had C weighed today. Wish I hadn't. It didn't help my "I'm not weaning until 26 weeks" argument. He is now 15lb 11oz and has put on 8 oz in 2 weeks which I think is ok but he has dropped below the 75th centile. Don't think she was too impressed when I quoted something I read on here earlier this week and told her the charts were actually for ff babies and bf ones . She said to leave it a couple of weeks and see what happens with his weight then and if it is still slower than it was we will talk about weaning. She was very nice and I may be swayed. Better than being told to top up with formula I suppose.

Had a nice coffee with baby group friends but tired again now. Just off to put my feet up while C asleep.

scootermum · 23/08/2007 17:16

Have a biscuit whilst you are at it SKY..you deserve it..
I dont believe in all the ruddy charts TBH..As long as the baby is gaining weight and seems fine then im sure he is..so try not to worry..that said ive not had Mae weighed for 4 weeks so ive literally no idea what she weighs..but she ruddy hammers my shoulders when she's in the sling so I figure she's ok..

Shhhh..whispers...I have achieved the unachievable this afternoon..both L and M have been asleep for nearly an hour and half..(L in bed with me obviously-She still wont countenance a cot during the day)So I have watched an old epsiode of ER and read some of my book...and eaten nearly a whole packet of dried Apricots, which are my current chocolate substitute..(no comparison)

Mum2G · 23/08/2007 17:35

Much healthier than a whole pack of banana toffee though Scootermum!

LWandLottie · 23/08/2007 19:01

My child has been sent to test me. I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH HER! I'm feeling so sorry for myself it isn't even true. Have been up since 9:30 and I have managed to post of 2 ebay parcels - that's it! The house is a tip, my poor mum walked in from work knackered and I've managed to get naff all done all day.

If she eats, she's not happy. If she doesn't eat, she's not happy. If I change her, she's not happy. In her pram, not happy. In her playgym thing, not happy. Being cuddled, not happy. In her cot, not happy. Dancing to music, not happy. Dehydrated from the heat - probably. Will she take any water? I thinky not! I think I make myslef clear on how I feel when I scream Arrrrggggghhhhhhhhhh!

I can hear her now, after an 8oz feed and she is still crying. God I'm worn out.

Lupins71 · 23/08/2007 19:12

LW&W it was a bruin presto i was trying to think of for you - its like a zapp but is suitable from birth, have you tried giving her a dose of calpol in case she has a headache or something - no i am really serious, you dont know there could be something niggling her and that might help - cant hurt to try

Mum2G if you could ask your dh about skype that would be great - we are getting nowhere with it

Supermonkey have a nice holiday

Off to boil more lentils for my son who is rather taken with them - this morning he ate a whole banana, that was after his 6oz milk!!!

Have a good evening all

LWandLottie · 23/08/2007 20:07

How do I get passport photo's done for charlotte?

Mum2G · 23/08/2007 20:32

Message to Lupin from DH re Skype - apologies to all

Make sure you have the latest version of skype (Version 3.5.0.214) and the latest device drivers for your webcam (you should be able to find this on the manufacturers website)

Plug in the webcam then go to 'skype options'
then 'general' then 'video settings' and make sure you have got 'enable skype video' selected

Then you should be able to select the webcam you are using

You may have to go to 'webcam settings' to fully configure/set up the webcam.

Sorry but DH didn't have his wecam with him so he couldn't see what settings were available in webcam settings.

He also says sorry if you have done all this, but wanted to cover the basics, if this doesn't work then let us know, we are away tommorrow am but will be back monday, and will probaly set up CAT

SuperMonkey · 23/08/2007 21:38

LW&L - I got Seth's photos done at Jessops. They have like a polaroid camera and keep taking the picture until they get one that looks right. Then they print it off. We managed to get a lovely one of his smiling

juliewoolie · 23/08/2007 22:22

LW jessops is the place to go not sure if they have them in the wilds of scotland but amsure there is a similar. We got A done when he was 3 days old they laid him on a white cushion and stood over him with the digi camera until they got one that worked.

Too knackered to explain my day suffice to say went for power walk with juicy in the sheeting rain got a call on the way home DP off to hospital with a back problem just got home from hospital he is doped to the eyeballs and may have to have a back op tom. Bang goes us going to NY next week

will catch up tom and explain all.

Pebblemum · 23/08/2007 23:06

LW I agree with Lupins, whenever Alana is crying more than usual and ive tried everything I give her a dose of calpol and find it sometimes helps. Until they learn to talk they cant tell us whats wrong so for now its all guesswork on our part.

Poor ds2 has been really off colour today. We went shopping to Tesco and halfway round he suddenly went very pale, felt very hot to the touch and kept saying he had a pain in his tummy. Thought he was going to be sick so rushed through the till, grabbed a spare carrier bag just in case and got home as fast as we could. He then put himself to bed for a while before coming into the front room where he fell asleep for almost 2hrs. He perked up a bit then but now and again he would come over hot again, he hasnt really eaten except a few cookies and is quite clingy. He said the pain went ages ago but hes still not right. Hes asleep now I just hope that whatever it was is gone by tomorrow. Dont like it when my kids arent well

MKG · 24/08/2007 00:34

As for the charts they are only useful if there is a sever drop a friend of mine's son went from 90% to 2% and tests were done only to find a metabolic disorder. My doctor says as long as the kids gain who cares how much.

twelveyeargap · 24/08/2007 01:13

How are you all? LW - how much is Lottie sleeping in the day? A is just beside herself if she doesn't get enough sleep. If she's not down for a nap within 2 hours (at the very most) of last waking then she's a nightmare. If it's not that, then she might be bored. I say that because you mentioned she's ok when other people are around. Could be the change of scenery perking her up. A is like that too. If I spend the day at home, just with her and we don't go out at all, or I don't spend some time entertaining her and changing her toys around then she gets mucho grumpy. Of course if Daddy walks in then she's all smiles. Little turncoat.

AFKNASOH - How was your bbq? I was thinking about you when I saw weather that day. I was going to call you on Sat and ask if it was ok to come at short notice, but then DD1 spent the car journey from Chamonix to Geneva airport puking out the window, the plane journey puking into a sick bag... You get the picture. I ended up not even getting 5 minutes to make a phone call. I'm very sorry about that. I hope you had a really lovely day. I see Scoot was talking about going from Ware to Norwich to see you. Well it wouldn't take me terribly long to drive to Ware, so I'd very much like to come too, if that gets arranged.

MrsJB - I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. x

Highly recommend Esprit holidays. Accomm was very basic, but the staff were excellent. Was only sorry that A wasn't 6 weeks older as I could have left her in the nursery. DD1 had a ball, (right up to the journey home!). Will deffo think of doing a ski holiday with them as it's apparently what they do best. DH wants to buy a place in Chamonix, he loved it so much. (Not quite sure how he thinks he's going to finance such a thing...) I was a bit limited as couldn't leave the baby and couldn't take her up any mountains as they don't let young babies on the cable cars (too high an altitude) and not even on the little mountain train as they claim the pressure change of climbing 900m is too mcuh for their ears. Oh well. Was nice just to relax and potter about and A was very obliging in going to bed by 7ish each night so we could enjoy the adult only meals whilst the staff provided a listening service for us.

Have a couple of friends coming to stay Fri eve until Sun so may not be around much until next week.

Lupins71 · 24/08/2007 03:37

MUM2G thanks will give it a go

Julie hope your dp is ok,

Pebble hopeds2 feels better tomorrow

TYG glad you had a nice holiday

Well its 3.30 and i have been up 2hrs with a colicky baby who keeps getting fits of stomach cramping and screaming, just been dosed with calpol for the pain and is settling in my arms but is still squirmy and uncomfortable, have put some coilef in his next feed ready, gawdddd knows what time i will get to bed, just sold 14 things from my ebay shop - well chuffed, glad i didnt pay all those fees yesterday!! awwwww my arm aches

Hope you are all sleeping well

aprilmeadow · 24/08/2007 07:12

Morning

Apparantly ds had a crap night so thought i would let dh catch up on his sleep. Have been up since 5.50 and we are currently watching the film 'Cars' for about the 1 millionth time.

Got a few bits on ebay that have bids, so am well chuffed. So far have gotten rid of the rest of my maternity clothes, a set of feeding tops and a bra that is too big.

Got to get the house tidy today as we have friends coming down for Ella's Christening on Sunday. Dh's OCD for cleaning is kicking in and i can see that he is getting twitchy about the amount of stuff just lying around.

Hi TYG, Glad you had a good holiday. Poor S, not nice to be vomming on a plane.

Lupins, I hope you are sleeping......

Lupins71 · 24/08/2007 09:09
