Wilkie - wow well done J

lal - that's what we're hoping for, a nice pool and lovely weather.

Rgee - hehe that would be good

DH - poor Ruth, hope she's ok.

Liz - yep he is! Like I said it's isn't a meaningful dada as he just says it all the time hehe but he does say it He's starting to talk a lot now,
been nattering away all day. I'll have to try and get him on the pc and keep a sound file, I could post it then.

eah - we haven't decided where we'd like to go yet, been looking at Spain and Portugal today, would meaning us all learning the language but that shouldn't be too bad.

Canmummy - sounds like a milk allergy to me, they can grow out of it though so maybe she will.

geoRGEEweasley · 23/07/2007 18:28

Dragon - hope lo is ok; sounds most unpleasant. Were the docs any good when you finally spoke to them?

Lizz - Pippa is a HUGE baby (width and length). But thankfully for me, it is the nursery staff who would do this, not me

EaH - I think all our lo's will be wearing the same clothes come next summer....

Hi Canmummy - milk allergy sounds like a pita. Think Carrot may be able to offer some advice. Hope mil visit went well and you cleaned the house to her satisfaction....

Jodie - Pippa is saying dada indiscriminately too, but can't quite get her to say mama . She also needs to discover her volume control!

Wilkie - meant to say earlier standing and crawling v v impressive. I presume he learnt that so he can crawl from one girl to the next .

2H - you done the ironing yet?

Raining again here.......

GobletOfRouge · 23/07/2007 20:05

EAH - I keep thinking of you when I see silver cars.I too resisted the Next sale as spent loads lately.

Wilkie - Did it rain at the wedding or did BF manage to get pics outside ?Ellen's teetch are borthering her at the moment too. Plenty of 3am waking up wailing but not hungry = a tired vino. Looking forward to seeing you tou get tomorrow, same time as last time 9.45ish. The house will be locked cos mum and dad will be at a playscheme in the church so I have to get the key off then when I arrive. Rgee is driving and has a black focus.

No more flooding for our cellat thank goodness. Our weekend in the Lake District was lovely and we didn't get much rain there. A bit on Saturday afternoon but gorgeous sunshine yesterday for our anniversary so a happy day for us

Travel cot - we are lucky in that Ellen sleeps well in hers, no different from how she sleeps at home really. She is kind of crawling/shuffling but maanging to get about and is another one starting to say dada

Lizzzombie · 23/07/2007 20:49

Ok, am a bit worried that my LO is lagging behind all your super advanced, eating proper food, walking and talking babies, so looked up when everyone was born from a previous thread. As you can see it is an old list as apparently 2happy only had a 'boy' with no other details!
But, its put my mind to rest as Dj is towards the bottom, so as he is one of the youngest its ok that he is not speaking & eating toast yet.

Lizz Hattie sits but doesnt roll (well except of the sofa once) doesnt crawl and babbles but no recognisable words and shes one of the oldest, although she does love her food (takes after her mum!)

Dont worry by the time they are 5 they'll all walk, talk, eat, be out of nappies etc (shame you have to put up with them being 2/3 before they reach 5 I am loathing nearly 3year olds today )

2Happy · 23/07/2007 20:56

Lizz, the list was modified in March - though obv we've lost and gained some since!

Totally agree with eandh, they do everything differently. Some are faster to move, some faster to talk, some are just happy to let the world come to them. There's 3 months between ds1 and his cousin and you couldn't pick who's older nowdays. Besides, just read Wilkie's post - there's no hurry for them to be mobile, it only makes life faaar harder!

OP posts:
laughalot · 23/07/2007 21:10

I second what the girls have said they all do things at different times and lizz let me tell you, you will still be comparing when he is 3 because I do for example eah little girl ellie has a full on conversation with me on the phone and she isnt 3 until sep aidan was 3 on the 13th july and still struggles with full on conversations. Lauren can roll and sit up for so long but just babbles away and she doesent look like crawling yet however she isnt on the floor alot as aidan thinks she gives piggy back rides .

Eah sorry that I used e as a example hope you dont mind.

Wilkie · 23/07/2007 21:17

Lizz - sorry but you made me giggle with your list. Just echoing everything everyone else is saying, J is crawling and standing (great fun - not) but: has no teeth, doesn't sleep through the night and defo isn't saying any recognisable words.

Dylan will develop at his own rate. My sister's twins have been extremely slow developing - only just starting to walk at 18 months. All children are different so absolutely no point in comparing.

2Happy · 23/07/2007 21:20

Oh dear. dh just had to put one of my mother's dogs to sleep. Now that's probably something you don't want to do for your mil, poor bloke!

OP posts:
eandh · 23/07/2007 21:21

no problems LAL I know shes supertalented

eandh · 23/07/2007 21:24

wouldnt have wanted to be in dh's shoes today 2happy!

LadyTophamSortingHatt · 23/07/2007 21:26

I covered georges eyes today when we met up with my post natel group because one of the babies was crawling!

He'll learn how to do it when I'M ready, not when he is

Wilkie · 23/07/2007 21:26

Oh god how awful 2Happy. What a nightmare.

2Happy · 23/07/2007 21:28

She still gave him a roast dinner though !

OP posts:
Wilkie · 23/07/2007 21:29

What meat did she serve 2Happy??

Wilkie · 23/07/2007 21:30

God sorry, that was really insensitive - seemed funny when I was writing it.

Sorry sorry sorry

eandh · 23/07/2007 21:30

wilkie - behave!

SeverusShimmerus · 23/07/2007 21:33

Hi all. Boring rainy day here today, but at least mum was around to buy me lunch and entertain F! Don't know if it's because she dosn't do it very often but she will happily play with him for HOURS! Is it terrible that I can stand about 20 mintues before I get completely bored with playing with baby stuff??

Jodie F has just started producing word-like noises as well, which is SOOOOO cute Dada is also one of his favourites, but he's also pretty good at nana.

He still doesn't look very close to crawling though (well done DJ!!) Though I did see him sort of stuffle backwards yesterday, sort of on his elbows, he hasn't managed to get onto all 4s yet.

What a pita about tha milk allergy canmummy

2Happy I've been reading HP too. I went out Saturday morning and bought it, but havn't had a lot of time since. Just about half way though at the moment. PLanning on an early night tonight so I can get some more reading done in bed

Did anyone see Dispatches tonight? "Undercover Mother" was about the crisis in NHS midwifery. I'm kind of addicted to programmes like that, although they occasionally annoy me because I think they do sensationalise (sp?) what really is a genuine problem, so you don;t actually know where the real problems lie IYSWIM. I'm glad I wasn't pregnant watching it though, i think it would scare the shit out of anyone expecting at the moment(specially those planning to go to the hosptials they "exposed"). I feel kind of compelled to start a thread on here to first timers - "It's not ALL bad - a positive birthing experience is still possible with the NHS".

2Happy · 23/07/2007 21:33

** Afraid that's pretty much my level of humour too! She's known to ds1 as Granny Woo-Woo (from when he called a dog a woo-woo before he could talk properly), so dh said he'll have to call her Granny Woo now!

OP posts:
Wilkie · 23/07/2007 21:37

Shimmer - I feel the same about playing with J...20 minutes is long enough. I always seem to have more pressing things such as housework and MN to do

My mum plays with J for ages and never gets bored!!!

I have pureed my little ass off today. We have:

Chicken, sweet potato and apple stew
Braised beef
Courgette Gratin
Bolognese

And have finished painting my coving

I'm bloody knackered!

Wilkie · 23/07/2007 21:37

Pleased you get my humour

eandh · 23/07/2007 21:45

have another baby the the eldest thinks the 2nd one is a new toy and entertains them for ages and youngest loves watching the eldest (although eldest will also try to squash them/force feed them/hit younger one )

LadyTophamSortingHatt · 23/07/2007 21:48

i agree EaH, I ahven't played with a baby for years...thats the old ds's job!

SeverusShimmerus · 23/07/2007 21:49

Glad I'm not the only one Wilkie Where are you getting your ideas for purees from? I have one of the AK books, which has quite a few recipes in, but he's had most of them now and i'm after some new ideas. I've made up some of my own, sort of based on what i've learnt from AK, but anyone know of any other baby recipe books that are any good?

Oh no 2Happy (although did chuckle at "Granny Woo")
