Evening all. Nearly 8pm and only the 3rd post of the day? Where are you all?

Had a fab day today. My mum arrived this morning (for those who havn't listened to me whine about it enough already... my parents live in Hong Kong, so I don't get to see them that much)She's staying for 6 weeks! And my dad's coming for the last 2 Not staying with us but with my brother, who actually lives in the same block as us, so she's right there, but not on top of us which is perfect. Had a big lunch with quite a few friends and family and then DP and I took F to the park later in the afternoon and he played in the sandpit (had to have his dummy in though cos he kept trying to eat the sand! ) and he went on the swings which he loved!

First day in aaaaages that it hasn't rained as well. Please please please let us have a proper summer now... ()

Sounds like you lot have had some good bargains at Next! Might have to head there tomorrow. Would quite like to get some stuff for myself and my mum's bought so much stuff (toys and clothes!) over for F I don't need to worry about getting anything for him for a while!

(which probably means about a week. I can never resist buying him things )

geoRGEEweasley · 22/07/2007 21:00

Evening all.

Lovely few days. Had an amusing wedding anniversary which consisted on getting a bit tipsy cos our posh food delivery was over an hour late, then both of us trying to fix the washing machine (broken machine caused by one big ball of my hair clogging up the pump - DH fished that out. V Romantic!!) Had a great spa day on Saturday with my friend, then folks over yesterday evening,. Today has been quite leisurly. EaH I think you'd be proud of me as I have properly sorted all lo's clothes and filed them away neatly in proper storage bags.

Shimmer / 2H / UD - DH got me the new HP book for our anniversary. However he has spent most of today reading it. I am desperate to get hold of it to read the last couple of pages before starting from the front

Carrot - hope everyone enjoyed the fairy fayre. A proper mystical weekend! Hope you enjoyed the wedding and forgot about your pushchair dilemma. If you ever want to borrow my cat, just ask

MotherBeaker - welcome back! I wasn't on here when you were. What's the weather like in NZ?

Canmummy - happy belated birthday! Hope the day improved and you were spoilt! Ohh...just seen you got TT tickets - fab!!! I shook Howard's hand at the last TT concert . Any plans for the looong (wet) summer?

Dragon - how was your night out? Am sure you looked lovely! Btw, am sure my feet have got half a size bigger since lo was born.

Lal / PCF - bought some bargain stuff online from the Next sale. First time I've bought online from them. Is there any way you can buy stuff without having to receive and pay for their catalogue? Lal - v organised to have got your school stuff all ready for Sept!

EaH - how is the new car? Oh, ignore me, just read your next post! What colour is it again? Good car sear bargain! Still debating which one to get. Need to be swayed by an equally big bargain!!

Wilkie - boo to teeth making grumpy babies! Sounds like you had good fun at the wedding!! Was the bloke wearing anything under his kilt then? LOL about your DH watching the gold - you rich kids!!! Presume you meant golf.....

Shimmer - it rained here this morning. Think it's raining a bit now. Yawn. Do you get on well with your mum? 6 weeks is a looong time for a visit.

Vino - talking of rain, hope you weren't flooded again last week. Came down a bit on Friday.

Any exciting plans this week? We've got our first visit to nursery tomorrow morning. Gulp. Papping myself already about it, although tomorrow is v gentle and just meet a few people and fill in a mountain of paperwork. Tuesday I am off out with Vino - Wilkie are you meeting us too? Can't think beyond that at the minute!

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 22/07/2007 21:58

RGee - I'll be there on Tues. What time?? Was talking to Rev Vino on Sat about us coming over again! Bless him. He is fab, everyone said what an amazing vicar and service it was.

DH still finishing the coving (it has been ongoing for ages now!!!) I have told him it has to be finished for Friday when they lay our new carpet!!!!!!!!!!

Can I get rid of my wanky HP name now purhlease????

theUmbridgeDryad · 22/07/2007 22:02

hi everyone - we're in Surrey at the IL's today , drove down this morning and went to Southampton to see dh's uncle and cousins. was a lot of driving and Z was not happy. he just won't go to sleep now, dh is upstairs with him at the moment, and he's about as much use as a chocolate teapot. am a bit fed up - every time we come to see the IL's i say i'm not going to stay there again cause it unsettles Zac so much, and then every time we do, and every time he gets unsettled and upset and i get stressed. we're off to Brighton tomorrow, and then driving home in the evening so that'll be another day with a grumpy baby and a nightmare to get him to sleep!

grr, i am a whingey bitch today! sorry!!

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 22/07/2007 22:05

UD - I have the same prob mate. Every time we stop over anywhere and J is in his travel cot he wakes constantly.

Friday night at mum's he was awake for three hours from 2am. Yesterday night at PIls he woke 5 times (apparently - I was too drunk to register).

It's a PITA but then we would never go anywhere so I guess it's just a matter of putting up with it.

I would love a LO that sleeps wherever whenever. Wonder if you can buy a transplant somewhere??

MrsCarrot · 22/07/2007 22:09

I've done with the name now too, Wilkie!

Ud - how did you get the pirate copy online, did someone leak it from the publishers or printers? have just started reading it to ds.

The wedding was a pagan handfasting so witchiness all round this weekend Rgee, we even had to jump over a broomstick to leave the circle, well, I didn't, but F in the pushchair was my excuse although really I just felt a bit daft. Glad dh wasn't there, it would have been too much for him

Lizzzombie · 23/07/2007 07:43

Morning! Can I just say, can't believe that the last half a year has gone so fast. DJ was 6 months (finally!) on Friday, and I am sure he was just born 5 minutes ago.
My teeny tiny little baby is turning into a big proper baby, with attitude. He had his first tantrum the other day. He couldnt fit the remote control all into his mouth at once. Very annoying for him!
Hope you are all had good weekends x

laughalot · 23/07/2007 08:33

Morning everyone hope you are all well, ud and wilks I have the same problem lauren is allergic to her travel cot if we go anywhere she is a nightmare that is going to be so much fun in portugal soon.

Rgee glad you had a good weekend I always get a letter asking me if I want the next book and you can ring and say yay or nay I always decline because everything is online. I needed to get aidans uniform as we go away on the 1st september so when we get back he is straight to school.

I need to pass my driving test then I could be meeting you lot tomorrow, should that be my mission this year to pass my test ?

2HappyRotter · 23/07/2007 09:03

Sorry been away - couldn't bear to switch tv/radio/computer on until I'd read HP7 just in case I saw something I shouldn't . Anyway, got my copy saturday evening, had finished by yesterday 5pm Now it's back to reality and the enormous pile of ironing I didn't do at the weekend. dh was off so it rained all weekend, and now it's lovely and sunny and blue skies, bloody typical!

Wilkie - OMG PMSL at your wedding antics! You would have loved my wedding - men in trousers were definitely the minority! And off to a wedding on saturday in Aberdeen (where I went to uni) so there'll be no lack of kilts there either! dh will definitely be wearing his, but I'm not telling you if he wears pants or not . It's quite cool actually as the reception is being held where we had our graduation ball, which is where - after an entire decade of fancying each other, dh and I finally became a proper item . Such a shame the bride is being such a PITA about kids - ds1 can't come and she was mega-pissed off about ds2 coming, but I said we couldn't come without him (the expressing really isn't going so well these days ). Went shopping on saturday for a new top that will allow me to bfeed discretely - OMG how much do I love Coast?! Soooooooo expensive, but found just the most gorgeous top, am going to keep an eye out for the Coast sale and maybe buy it in another colour if it's cheap enough! Was v chuffed to be able to buy a size 12 again! Yessssss!

MB - I remember you! Glad you got back to NZ safely!! Welcome back to MN

Shimmer - how's your Mum?!

RGee - how'd the nursery visit go?

UD/Wilkie/lal - sympathies on the sleep probs, as you know ds1 is still like this, real PITA since we'd like to get a week away in September, but I can't cope with a whole week of him not sleeping.

Lizz - happy half birthday DJ! Lol at the remote control!

Lal -go for it!

2Happy · 23/07/2007 09:04

Oh yeah, I suppose I'd better go back to this!

LadyTophamSortingHatt · 23/07/2007 09:10

UD!!!!!

Brighton!!!!??????

Come and see me!!!!!
We';re only about 20 minutes along the coast!

(but I realise I've probably missed you now and you won't see this message until you're back at home. Bum!)

JodieG1 · 23/07/2007 09:21

Haven't caught up yet but will try later on. Ethan has started saying dada now Obviously not meaningful dada's but dada nonetheless. Also words like nana and other short ones. I've been saying dada to him all weekend and mama, hope he says that soon too

When we were at the hospital with him he wa weighed and was 19lb 15oz, I think he was 26 weeks at the time, little fatty.

I'm knackered again as usual, no changes in Ethan's sleeping patterns at night or feeding. Miserable weather too. We've been talking over the weekend about moving abroad and I must say it does seem appealing. We both like America but it's hard to get green cards so I'm looking at Europe today too.

Wilkie · 23/07/2007 09:27

LTH - I have UD's mobile if you want it?? I will give to you on MSN if you want it.

Morning all. Just a quickie. J a PITA last night again so Jodie I sympathise massively.

He's asleep ATM then we are off to Asda in the pouring rain. Hope no one is affected by the floods.

Lizz - Happy half birthday Dylan. It has flown hasn't it??

Laters x

Wilkie · 23/07/2007 09:35

Meant to say - little man stands now at his Vtech table!!! Have put photo on my profile. I am more shocked than anything. Think his legs are just very strong bless him. He stands for about 2-3 minutes before sitting down.

Off to buy a safety gate this morning....was so much easier when he laid still!

laughalot · 23/07/2007 11:20

Jod when I was six we moved to south africa we moved back when I was 17. Go for it we had a fab lifestyle a house with a pool it was so much fun.

geoRGEEweasley · 23/07/2007 11:29

Lal - learn to drive!
Jodie - move abroad so we can all come for holidays
Right, that's my preaching over for today.

Nursery was good but overwhelming. Got information overload. Pippa seemed to enjoy staring at everyone and everything. Need to decide whether to sign her up for baby yoga!

Dragonhart · 23/07/2007 11:42

I had the same problem with Luke in the travel cot. He never slept very well in it. A friend of mine said she had a bit of foam cut to size (you know those places where they cut foam for furniture) put a waterproof sheet over it to cover it then put one of the travel cot pads from mc on top. She said it worked like a dream but she told me when Luke had grown out of it. Not so compact but might be worth a look?

UD, when we drive down to PIL I try to make sure it is a bed time or that most of the journey is when they would have a nap . Does help but it is hard having family far away. Worse when we visit my dad though. He is in Inverness so about a 7hour drive!

Carrot, what an unusual wedding! Hope the buggy was ok.

Jodie and wilkie what clever boys!

Ruth woke up last night really struggling to do a poo. This mormimg she woke up and when I changed her nappy, she did another but she was crying in pain while doing it. When I cleaned her bottom, there was blood there. Rang doc and they said first appt was next wednesday!! Insisted and they said to ring back after 2. Poor baby!

Lizzzombie · 23/07/2007 13:08

Dragon - poor Ruth, that sounds awful. Is it really bad constipation or do you think its something else?
Jodie - seriously, your LO is speaking???? are you pulling our legs?
Its official here, DJ has just done his first proper 'crawl'. He has been going round in circles for ages, but now he has just gone in a line, its not traditional crawling, more like a car with square wheels, sort of bumping along the ground. But I am very proud! am off to set up an assault course now!

Lizzzombie · 23/07/2007 13:09

Rgee - baby yoga is HARD WORK. you need to have a light baby for it. Heavy babies = effort!

eandh · 23/07/2007 13:22

DH - poor little thing Hattie has suffered with piles since she was born we have cream and have to make sure she has lots of fluid and things to make her stools soft

2happy- glad you got book finished and wedding sounds good

LAL- I never knew you lived in SA and I was thinking of you today whilst I was in the Next sale (and after texting you we have yet again bought the same thing!)

Wilkie - clever man (but didnt all us 2/3/4th timers say its a pita when they move!)

LTH- hows house moving going?

UD- Hope all is better today and Ellie slept fine in her travel cot but Hattie appear to be the same as all the other Jan babies and hates it

MrsC- sounds like you have had a lovely weekend

Jodie- that all sounds exciting, one of my closest friends parents moved to america 3 years ago but they have decided to come back now (whilst they've been gone both my friend and all her siblings have had babies so they are desperaltey missing their grandchildren) The only way they got their green card thingy was by buying into a business out there, I think theres another MNetter (califrau?) who has moved out there

Am at work today and made fatal error of popping to Next spent £60 but got loads of summer stuff for Ellie next year and got Hattie some new bits (she ends up inheriting all of Ellies clothes so never gets quite as much new stuff) am meant to be sorting rostas out for the rest of the year but everytime I print one someone says "I cant do that!" aaaarghhhhhh bloody do it yourself then

canmummy · 23/07/2007 13:43

Hi everyone!

What busy lives we all lead - it's hard to keep up with you all!

Well this morning we have realised it looks like lo has an allergy to cows milk . I'm still breastfeeding but dh gave her some baby rice mixed with cows milk and she absolutely threw her guts up and went red, blotchy and a bit puffy round the eyes. We remembered she did this once before and it was after having a bottle of formula (she's only ever had one). Next dr's appt is weds - why are they all so crap? - so will wait and see what she says.

1st day of school holidays - older dc playing in the garden while lo asleep so must get tidying up as dreaded mil coming round this pm!

eandh · 23/07/2007 14:00

Given up on rosta I have done it and put it up and told everyone to swap around ensuring the days are covered and give it back to me and then I'll retype it (honestly days like today I think e and h are easier!!)

Lizzzombie · 23/07/2007 14:07

eandh - that NEXT sale is a problem isnt it. I cant actually walk past our Next without going in at the moment. Luckily there are not that many boys clothes, but if I was you with 2 girls, I'd be going crazy and stocking up till they were 13 or something!

laughalot · 23/07/2007 14:10

Lizz do you want me to mail you the baileys cheescake receipe

Lizzzombie · 23/07/2007 16:09

LaL - thanks but i printed it off the other thread. may just buy the frozen cheap version tho!
