Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

I sterilise them but only when I remember.
Like you Daisy I don't see the point, my dog often licks DS's hand as he walks past, I don't think cocker spaniels are very clean

But, in other news....HE'S ASLEEEEEEPPPPPP!!!!!!!

After 8 hours of inconsolable blue-lipped screaming, he's asleep!!

hollyandalice · 03/07/2007 19:24

I bet he'll sleep for ages now and you won't be able to relax because you'll think something's wrong because he's been asleep for so long! That's what I do anyway! Being a mum is never easy!

Seansgirl · 03/07/2007 19:34

TA sorry to hear LO is so unsettled, hope he has a good long sleep to give you a break.

Have been semi lurking but have been bit preoccupied with unsettled DS too. DS has caught a cold of DD and is struggling with a blocked nose. Thankfully he seems to ok in all other ways and is feeding ok, no temp just a very grumpy baby getting frustrated with the congestion. Consequently he is only settling for short periods and mainly on me.

How you feeling Annobal? Has the gym had the desired effect?

Someone please remind me - it does get better doesn't it? I have forgotten how intense it all is and hard these early days seem like forever"

trendaverter · 03/07/2007 19:44

oh it's just such a relief he's sleeping...not just for my sanity, but the poor little sod was looking really pale and grey with red rimmed eyes he was so tired, I felt awful.

Hopefully he'll be able to sleep a bit easier now.

I just wish I knew what I was doing that was keeping him awake and I'll stop doing it!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 19:57

TA...I'm so glad he's settled for a bit, long may it continue. It's not colic is it?

derlor · 03/07/2007 20:02

Oh dear i can't keep up any more!!!
it's not so easy now that the LO's are here is it?
wish i could come on and read a quick bullet point run down of everyones news, but no, and unfortunalely i just pop on and off and struggle to catch up i feel like i'm missing you all
moan...moan...moan..derlor slaps own face and then breathes deeply ((((oh shite i think i've cracked up!!))))
right bath time for DD1, (thank God she's been a nightmare 3yr old devil child today!)

HollyAndAliceWillBeDogtanian · 03/07/2007 20:05

Holly

have you got too much time on your hands??

bumperlicious · 03/07/2007 20:07

So a piece of my nipple just came out into DD's mouth! Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

foxybrown · 03/07/2007 20:07

Euuuwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Are you OK?

HollyAndAliceWillBeDogtanian · 03/07/2007 20:08

Owww, bumper! You sure it wasn't a dry piece of skin or milk?

derlor · 03/07/2007 20:09

OH MY GOD, ARE YOU OK???????????????????????

bumperlicious · 03/07/2007 20:12

Nope, definitely nipple - I was just inspecting it flapping around on my nipple, next thing it's come off on her lip! It was only a little piece, but ouchy ouchy! Means feeding will be a bit ouchy till it heals. But I'm sure we are latching on ok... just have to see how it goes.

foxybrown · 03/07/2007 20:13

Was it (and I'm sorry to be gross) a bit of scab from a healing crack?

riabutterflew · 03/07/2007 20:14

What a lovely picture holly - show off! Lol re your DPs socks. DH has apparently run out too - and announced it loudly while the HV was here!
We have had another bugger of a day. pootle slept from 10pm last night to nearly 6am today (lovely boy), but we waited up til 1am for him to wake! He had a perfect feed then and went back to sleep, but when he woke at 10 it took until 1.15pm to get him latched on and feeding. Took ages at teatime too. He hasn't regained his birthweight either (HV was V annoyed because the hospital didn't measure his length or head circ). I have to feed him 2-3 hourly during the day. Am increasing my food intake so won't be waving bye to that 4 stone just yet!

Good luck foxy!!!

daisy - I'm not ignoring you re meet up, just wondering if I will ever leave the house again!

bumperlicious · 03/07/2007 20:17

I don't know Foxy, it was just a flappy bit of skin, but may have been a scab that just hadn't had a chance to dry out. She just sucked it right off!

HollyAndAliceWillBeDogtanian · 03/07/2007 20:19

I am going to join netmums!

href="http://www.TickerFactory.com/">

bumperlicious · 03/07/2007 20:20

Anyway Foxy, how are you even able to post! How is it going? You sound like you are doing really well!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 20:28

HOW?????

Is it just a scab thats fallen off?

Holly you are a horror...I've just been looking at that thread and was going to do that but you beat me to it

Don't like it anyway....that way tickers and sparkly yellow ribbons lie

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 20:30

eeeewwww bumper...you've given birth to a cannibal

Can you try nipple shields, and slather it in lansinoh, it'll heal pretty quickly then.

christ.....I've left my omelette under the grill!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 20:41

bloody pampers newborn nappies....anyone else find that they leak. DD leaks out of the top of them, how I'm not entirely sure.

trendaverter · 03/07/2007 20:50

Yes they do bloody leak! Pee out the top!
Damn the things. Huggies are proving better but I also have some biodegradable jobbies to try.

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 20:55

we got some of tesco own brand on sunday...they have stretchy tabs on them and are actually quite good.

didn't like the naturebaby ones....they are a much tighter fit than others.....and DD seems to have inherited my thunder thighs.

sainsbury's own brand were all right too!

we have been through nearly 400 nappies so far..in four weeks FFS!!

thinking reusables might be an idea

trendaverter · 03/07/2007 20:58

Hmm maybe naturebaby won't suit us either then, our little man also has thunder thighs.

Will try the sainsburys ones.

I am going to go reusable, I had always intended to, just wanted to use disposable at first so I didn't need to buy 2 sizes of tots bots and didn't have to worry about the washing while I was frazzled in the early days!

Do your council do the £30 reusable nappy incentive thing?

sputnik · 03/07/2007 21:01

Out the top??? Have you tried huggies, they're more elasticated (will be switching to washables soon, honest....). Baby Sputnik has been peeing in the sink, and on me, a lot today, maybe i should try the nappy-free method and make up for DD who still needs potty training.

Baby Sputnik is awake! I'm not used to it He's just lying in the carry cot looking around though. He must've fed for about 6 hours today.
