Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

We have gone for a walk in the sling
we have been fed, burped, changed
we have had a bounce on the bouncy chair
we have been cuddled

Everytime I get him to sleep and try to put him down, within 5 minutes we are screaming again

I am going to lose the plot soon

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 14:46

not awful at all.....I was actually saying to my dd rather loudly "for crying out bloody loud, will you just be quiet" at 2:00am this morning....like she could really understand me. it always seems much worse in the wee small hours....just be thankful it isn't winter!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 14:46

is he too hot or too cold?

sputnik · 03/07/2007 14:46

Poor you TA, don't know what to suggest really (earplugs?) just sending sympathy It's horrible when you know something must be up and they can't tell you.

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 14:48

hows your little satellite sputnik? has his temp settled down?

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 14:50

ta, he may just want you close....

trendaverter · 03/07/2007 14:54

Doesn't seem to be too hot/cold.
And having him close works for a little while and then it starts again.

I think he is just over tired maybe? I have no idea. Bring on constructive communication!

I have palmed him off onto DH and am thinking of going for a kip, but I am scared as DH goes back to work on thursday

sputnik · 03/07/2007 14:55

Maybe try waiting a good 15 - 20 mins after you think he's sleeping til you try putting him down

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 14:57

you can do baby sign language so they can "talk" to you before they can talk.

I'm out of suggestions I'm afraid...probably overtired...maybe a dummy or finger will settle him.

off to do the school pick-up....cue screaming fit from dd as i wrestle her into her jacket and hat!

sputnik · 03/07/2007 15:01

Baby Sputnik got put on antibiotics and the doc wants to see him again tomorrow, but no fever today, so that's good. Don't know if he's feeding slower than usual or if he's having a growth spurt, but today has been one long nork-fest in casa Sputnik (managed to get DD at nursery by 9.45 though, so improving there).

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 15:03

just doing a time check....all my clocks are wrong!

foxybrown · 03/07/2007 15:15

No news here. MW coming back later. Reckons we're on for a tea/bed time kick off. Bloody marvellous!

TA - remember it is OK to put him in his cot and close the door while you take a minute. You do not need to torture yourself when it gets too much.

Take a breath.

Chances are he's knackered if he's been crying a lot.

Stay calm. Good luck honey, it is so hard, you have lots of support on here xxx

lilKelBel · 03/07/2007 15:15

ta is he arching his back at all??

foxybrown · 03/07/2007 15:16

OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH FUCK!

I'M HAVING A BABY

lilKelBel · 03/07/2007 15:24

oh Foxy, it will all be wonderful, don't worry, just lose yourself in the moment and it will all happen as it's supposed to!! GOOD LUCK!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 03/07/2007 18:18

Good luck Foxy

hollyandalice · 03/07/2007 18:33

OMG there's sick everywhere! My William just keeps on spewing!

foxybrown · 03/07/2007 18:36

my DS1 was a chucker. Usually in my bed after the first feed of the day. Gross! I think it was because he was greedy and guzzled.

Just make sure he doesn't do it on your keyboard!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 18:39

lol holly...i went out once with a trail of sick from my shoulder, all the way down my back and trouser legs.

I think my poor DD has got thrush on her bottom...the nappy rash has gone all red and angry with white edged spotty bits. would my anti-biotics have caused it?

can you use canesten on LOs or do i need to see the doc?

hollyandalice · 03/07/2007 18:44

I think abs can cause thrush daisy, not sure about canasten for los. Have you tried googling it?

Good god he wants feeding again! Puke, feed, puke, feed, puke....

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 18:49

holly, I had several evenings with ds like that....once i sat in my knicks with a towel under me and my dressing gown around my shoulders and him just in a nappy as we'd both had six changes and i wasn't prepared to do any more washing

hollyandalice · 03/07/2007 18:51

I've given up changing him every time he pukes. I just dry it off with a muslin and leave him. I can't keep up with the washing, dp had no socks this morning! Oops!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 19:01

stoopid question...is anyone sterilising dummies? i haven't bothered on the basis that my boob and finger which both spend time in DDs mouth aren't sterile, but am now worried she'll get a poorly tum

hollyandalice · 03/07/2007 19:03

I just pour boiling water on william's dummies. So sort of sterilise, but not really. I just do it every time I make a cuppa!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 19:08

that's what i've done as well....making sure it's cooled down before giving it to DD tho'
