Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

daisy, I am of you being able to go and do anything. Charlotte has taken to being a terribel settler during the day. I know I should be thankful that she sleeps well in between feeds at night, but it's getting such a drag not being able to do anything all day because she's so bad at settling in her basket - yes the very same basket that she sleeps so well in at night. The most time I seem to get is about 8 minutes, which is the record today for time that she's settled while not on my shoulder. My parents are visiting today though, so hopefully they can either hold her while I do a few bits, or they can doa few bits while I look after her.

daisyboo · 02/07/2007 10:47

maybe I'll just do that now and save myself the heartache, LOL .

enough procrastination....i need a shower at least before the nork nibbler wakes up!

daisyboo · 02/07/2007 10:51

Jamanth....sorry your DD is being clingy...it sounds like you might benefit from a sling. I've only heard good things about them where unsettled babies are concerned. At least you would be able to function on some level!

Get your parents to hold her...it sounds like you can use a break. Can you get out the house for a five minute walk to the corner shop? It would do you the world of good.

Are the July babies arriving en-masse yet??

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 10:55

STOP PROCRASTINATING!!!

I wish I could use a sling, but my gigantic baby would prob break my back!

bumperlicious · 02/07/2007 11:22

TA what a gorgeous photo! He's delicious! Have you thought about a cranial osteopath for ds's wind? DD suffered awfully but he said it was to do with her digestive system rather than wind in her tummy. She is almost 100% better, though suffered a lttle last night, but going for a second session on Friday. Would definitely recommend it if you can find one who specialises in babies.

Sorry you are still sore holly. Daisy I'm a bit like you, not sure if we are getting latched on properly, but not sore and feeding well so think we are ok.

\oops, look like this one isn't quite done feeding!

daisyboo · 02/07/2007 11:37

good morning bumper......glad things seem to be settling down a bit. are you going to try and make it out of the house today? a walk would probably do us all some good! think i'll take the dcs to the park and butterfly house this afternoon.

DS school is out today....training day!

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 11:41

Wow, butterfly house! Can I virtually join you?!

Jamantha · 02/07/2007 11:42

Have been wanting a sling, and this morning has prompted me to get round to ordering one. Hopefully be here tomrrow!!

daisyboo · 02/07/2007 11:44

yes you can....it's a nice place to go to get out of the weather...like a mini botanic garden and there are snakes an monkeys and lemurs and meercats etc. lots to see and DS loves it....and it nnly costs £2.50 to get in!

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 11:51

I bought a babybjorn, it's really good actually, would recommend and you can get bargains on Ebay

bumperlicious · 02/07/2007 11:52

I don't know daisy. I haven't been out since last tuesday because I think I did a bit too much the first week, also the weather has been sh*te. But tomorrow we have the bf support group, need to get this left boob checked out! Also, can't remember whether the MW said HV would come today, so stuck waiting really.

Jamantha what sling have you ordered? We are still waiting for ours. Was too stingy to pay for the quick shipping!

daisyboo · 02/07/2007 11:58

we bought a babybjorn carrier too as i tried a sling and it hurt my dicky shoulder. tried babyboo in it once and she screamed and screamed and screamed....but she will be going in it today, whether she likes it or not!

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 12:09

ARGH!
I have just been offered a really good job, starting in 3 months, I am ringing daycare places and they wait period is Summer NEXT YEAR!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 12:19

sounds exciting TA...can you get a childminder or can your folks or PILs do a day or two each!

don't know if i could leave babyboo so soon though!

bumperlicious · 02/07/2007 12:19

Any top tips for nappy rash? DD is really sore, especially in her creases, we obviously haven't been drying her properly

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 12:29

Hi Bumper, DS had terrible nappy rash, all we could do was change nappy really often, keep clean and dry and use sudocreme. Took a few days but it cleared up.

Daisy I don't want to leave him but our house is so tiny, we need a bigger place, it's a case of needs must Would much rather stay here and look after him!

Sadly too my mum works full time herself, as does Dad, the IL's live in Australia. We live 1.5 hours away from any family at any rate. It's a bugger. But I have found one now, it seems good, no waiting list, but they won't take anyone younger than 3 months so just need to delay the company that wants me!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 12:43

some fresh air will do it the world of good bumper, ani i always use metanium cream.

if you haven't got any cream at the moment, whisk up the white of an egg till its frothy then paint on and leave to dry....it acts as a barrier and is very effective. you can save unused stuff in the fridge for later (but be careful you don't double dip so its not getting germs in)

i got a couple of packs of facecloths from ikea and use them as little towels for drying her after cleaning her bottom. They're cheap as chips so i don't mind chucking them if they get pooed on!

bumperlicious · 02/07/2007 12:44

Thanks TA. Glad you have found somewhere for DS and a got a good job too! It will be really sad to leave him but 3 months is ages away so you'll just have to make the most of this lovely time. God, wouldn't life be easier if we were all rich. I hate being envious of other people's lives and money, but I just think that if we had more money DH and DD and I would have the luxury of all enjoying our life together as a family. Plus I could employ a cleaner!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 12:46

TA...make sure you go and see the place before committing and ask for references from other parents!

bumperlicious · 02/07/2007 12:46

Thanks daisy, think we might have a bit of naked time when she next needs changing. Right now, it's sleepy time for DD and brownie time for me (the healthy eating hasn't quite started yet!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 12:49

Mine started today....I had (admittedly a rather large) bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes for brekkie and I've had beans on toast for lunch with just a scrape of butter, then an apple and a banana!

I must fit into these new trousers for saturday...but my weight loss has come to a standstill.....can't seem to shift any more!

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 13:46

Grrrr...I'm pissed off! I got my moses basket and breast pump down from the loft last night and the moses basket is covered in cat hair and the breast pump is missing a bit. Both of these were lent to a friend, the same friend that ruined most of my maternity clothes! I just tried the pump and it won't work without this bit. Does anyone have a medela electric pump? It is the small white round bit that I am missing, you get a bag of spare ones, but I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone spare one? Please?

sputnik · 02/07/2007 14:14

Daisy, I found this about weight loss and breastfeeding apparently you should eat normally if you want to lose weight, give it a read.

Bumper, re the nappy rash, the Neal's Yard barrier cream (know you're a fan of theirs) is really good, another one that's realy good at clearing nappy rash once it's arrived is this. Also, if you're using wipes, don't. I carry DS to the sink and wash with a tiny amount of soap (sometimes none) or else water and cotton wool.

Baby Sputnik is a bit better, less fever, I think he's got whatever DH had. Will be seeing a doctor this afternoon to be on the safe side. Today is 1st day without DH, was tricky getting DD off to nursery as just when we were nearly ready Baby Sputnik decided to embark on an epic 1 hour feed, but got there eventually.

lilKelBel · 02/07/2007 14:45

ew Holly sorry no Madela here just wanted to say I'm on your behalf...I'm sure someone has spare parts for you (though your 'friend' is the one who should be providing them!)

ta sorry to hear you've got to go back to work. I hope at least that you find fulfillment from your job. I never really could with mine so I'm not in any hurry to go back to it!!

we had a setback last night & today with S. thought the wind was improving but she fussed from 4am on and then vomited at 7...all over our bed...sigh. back to the osteopath. I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever go away!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 16:10

holly...could you get in touch with medela directly for spares, or try a medela stockist.

eeewww on the cat hair. I love cats but that would really gross me out. A tip though if you're going to use it, wash everything at 60 degrees in case there are any flea eggs about....they can lie dormant until there's something suitable to bite, and we wouldn't want Will getting flea bites. they won't live on humans, but will bite first then die later.

cheers for the link sputnik.....i've not been eating too healthily...lots of cheese and crisps and sweets, and the odd magnum or three!

trip to tropical world was a success....DS behaved brilliantly and babyboo slept throughout.
