Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

what do you think of the new name....there are too many daisy this that or t'others, and i was talking to a daisybo the other day. don't really want to lose the daisy as everyone knows its me!

Well sputnik, I would've been trying to starve myself in the hope of losing weight. I suppose the thing is to pack in lots of good food like fruit and veg and carbs and cut down on the fat and sugars (although the BF is giving me the most awful sugar cravings). Not hopeful I'm going to get into my new trousers though by Saturday. I'll see what they're like on Friday and might have to take them back for a bigger size.

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 16:34

Holly....are these the chaps?

lilKelBel · 02/07/2007 16:35

I like the name Daisy - v cute. Re the trousers - I know this might sound disappointing but sometimes a size bigger actually makes you look slimmer. It's a trick I've used in the past when I've been able to swallow my pride and ignore the number on the size tag - just in case they don't fit!

I think DS just broke my baby monitor. He just loves things that play music - and this one plays lullabies. I heard him smashing it into the floor - later!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 16:41

They fit around the bum lilkel, its just I can't get the button in due to excess flabby tum. I tried the bigger size and there were handfuls of spare material around the hips/top of my legs. It's a difficult one...maybe I should look elsewhere, but I don't want to get into trawling around the shops so just went to M&S.

Maybe DD and I will have a trip into town tomorrow.

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 17:30

My Nan keeps calling DS 'it'. She sent a card and addressed it to me, DH and the Dog. She says it's because she doesn't like his name.

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 17:35

What a horrible thing to do. Is she usually like this, or is it out of character? It annoys me when people think being old gives them carte blanche to be rude and say exactly what they think!

She'll just need to get used to it!

lilKelBel · 02/07/2007 17:50

OMG TA that would so piss me off.

Good luck w/ trou Daisy. If all else fails I guess your top will cover the part where they button at the waist. I really find it frustrating to shop at this time myself - body all weird shaped even though I'm nearly back to my old weight. So puffy and icky...ok stopping now or I'll just get depressed about it

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 19:14

It did piss me off but what can you do?! Silly old woman.
She got annoyed because she wanted me to call him Rory.

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 19:23

Thanks daisy, they are the fellows! I'm pissed off because I have had the pump for ages and I was really careful with it. Oh well, I guess £5 isn't much to repair it.

TA, that's rubbish! He's your baby and I'm sure his name suits him. If you like it that's all that matters!

I'm the same with the trousers daisy, I can get them on and I can do them up, but only if I breathe in! The overhang, however, is not pretty and I can't sit down!

Hope you can fix your monitor lilkel!!

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 19:24

BTW, thanks daisy for keeping the stats updated!

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 19:51

Does anyone who lives quite near me want to be a product tester for Mother and Baby magazine? I've just had this email from them asking if I want to test some products.

Hi All,
I?ve had nearly 1000 Mums apply to be testers this year, which is amazing. From my point of view I would like as many of you to have a chance to test as possible,
Statistically it means if you are chosen you are in the minority and you will only have a few products to test each.
However, I still need to find a few more keen testers for this summer. I need to finalise my testers by Wednesday, so please let me know a.s.a.p.
So, if you have either a baby or toddler up to aged 4 can you let me know if you can test any of the following:
Please note for all the following products you must guarantee that you have a group of 4-5 friends with similar aged babies to share the testing with and safe storage space (some items are very bulky and will take up a lot of room)

1)Travel Systems (Prams with additional infant car seats),

2)Infant Car Seats

  1. Highchairs

  2. Travel Cots plus other miscellaneous travel items

  3. Baby Cribs

  4. Nursery Products (e.g. nappy wrappers, baby swings, mattresses etc.)

  5. Baby carriers / slings (babies under 9 months)

  6. Baby back carriers (7months plus)

  7. Baby monitors

  8. Toys ?newborn

  9. Toys - 6-18mths

  10. Toys - 18mths-3yrs

  11. Learning Toys (all ages but let me know ages of all your children under 5)

Please list in order of preference up to 3 categories.

Please confirm how many friends you can share the products with and that you have place to store the items plus boxes.
Many thanks

Jessica Milln

Mother & Baby Awards Testing Co-ordinator.

I need 4-5 friends with similar aged babies to test with. I don't know if I'll be chosen, but it's worth a go. I was going to choose travel systems, car seats and nursery products to test. Anyone interested?

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 20:00

Hi Holly,
I don't mind - I'd like baby carriers, newborn toys and travel cots.

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 20:02

Cool TA! I'll let you know if I get chosen. It'll be cool if we get to keep the stuff!

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 20:04

Damn right

I'll make sure Sully voms copiously on everything so they won't want it back

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 20:06

Wiping a dirty nappy on it may do the trick too !

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 20:09

am i too faraway then???

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 20:12

I'm not sure how it works daisy, if the tester woman wants me to test things I'll put your name down too. It doesn't say you have to live close to each other, but we might have to meet up for discussions or something.

When is it going to be sunny again? I want to go out and show off my little man!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 20:15

i'm like cucumber tonight....i keep repeating on you

well my Dh has gorn away

well actually a little bit as i need an evening to myself.

managed bedtime and even read DS a story....have just fed babyboo and am going to have a small glass of wine

spoke too soon...babyboo wants more!

trendaverter · 02/07/2007 20:21

Has anyone else found this.... before infacol, many sleepless nights with crying windy baby. Post infacol, far far less windy baby but much more vom.
Should I be worried about vom? Most of it is just a bit of posset but occasionally we get an Exorcist moment.

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 20:31

TA some babies are just more vommy than others, so it might just be you've got a spewey one. With DS it started at about 3 weeks, projectile vomming, i was always covered in the stuff, it was all over the furniture, each time anyone picked him up.....lasted till about 9 months, then nothing!!

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 20:39

I have a pukey baby too! He feeds, pukes and then wants more! Dd was never sick, it just depends on the baby I suppose.

claire74 · 02/07/2007 21:44

Hi all, `it sounds like we're all settling down slowly with good and bad days being the norm.

i've had to take lo to the doctors today as he has a fatty lump on his throat, its about the size of a pea and moves, it doesn't seem to hurt him, but i'm worrying myself silly about it, The doctor doesn't seem to worried but I haven't got much faith in the doctor that i saw, he said it looks like it could be a gland and should just go away and to come back in 2 weeks - so I'll do that and then ask for a 2nd opinion - anyone else have any ideas?

Sorry I haven't been on earlier Daisy to answer your questions about your boobs, But Derlor luckily answered exactly how I would of done, the only other thing that can suddenly cause engorgement is your dd going for long periods without feeding? I know the engorgement isn't much fun but will only last a couple of days meanwhile have great relief in knowing your got a great milk supply built up now, your dd will be thanking you!

Getting depressed about my weight 2 stone over pre-pregnancy, I didnt' think I was looking to fat, and thought I was probably a stone and a half over, but the electric scales at the doctors - confirmed it all .....I'm fat

Sputnik, glad I read your post, its made me feel a bit better and has stopped me from going on a mad diet whilst bf, I will just stop having a pudding after every meal- a habit I got into whilst pregnant!

claire74 · 02/07/2007 21:46

would really like to start exercising my tummy now though, anyone know if I can start sit ups yet - 2 and a half weeks after a vb?

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 21:48

Claire...tallulabelle has posted on the AN thread...she needs some advice as she doesn't think her LO os getting enough milk from her and her MW has had her top up on formula!

I hope your LO is OK...I would see someone else about it, or ask for a referral to a paediatrician.

The engorgement has gone today...although leaky norks is continuing, but only the right one .
