Hi - I've not been on here before, but DD is one this month too

Am starting to worry though as she refuses to weight-bear (lifts legs up), let alone crawl or bum shuffle and is quite happy to sit and play with her toys and not move around. GP says not to worry until 14 months, HV says she's going to speak to a physiotherapist because it's not normal and DH is worried, which in turn is worrying me. So, I thought I'd come and see what everyone elses LOs are up to.

And hello to LilRedWG ? you?re not crashing this thread ? it?s for you too, as your LO is one!! I must say that I?d go with the GP, they all do things in their own time. Is LO jabbering, making new noises, moving fluidly to pick up toys, can LO pass objects between hands. These are all questions I was asked about DS when the HV referred us because his head was too small (?!?!). Obviously my LO?s brain is developing just fine because he can do all those things. I think development is more than just moving around. So I wouldn?t worry!

And when she does move, you?ll miss the feeling of being able to leave the room knowing LO wont be chewing on cables, pulling heavy objects on themselves etc. Or is that just my DS that does that?

Hello, just popping in really, ds2 was 1 yesterday. He is very gorgeous, but quite difficult I think - he does not like being put down on the floor to play, and has developed a shrieking habit which is ear-splitting!

That aside, he's not crawling OR walking, he rolls everywhere! He can weight bear on his legs. He can say 'Da-da' and 'A-CCCCCCCCCH' which is 'again'. He can also say 'Quack' for 'what does a duck say' and he can clap in time for 'If you're happy and you know it'.

Hope all the other May babies are enjoying their birthdays!

Hi LilRedWG - welcome to May Babies!

I really wouldn't worry (although all parents know that is easier said than done) all babies develop at different weights. DS has two friends who are 12 and 13 months respectively who cannot crawl or weight bear either, they have not been referred yet as they HV they have is quite laid back, she said "what is the point of referring them when they'll be on the move in no time" It's fine to seek another opinion or go and see a physio, but I'm sure she'll make her way round the place in no time at all. Hope you find a sympathetic GP or someone who has a nie calm relaxed approach. You know there really isn't a special medal for being the first baby to crawl or walk or talk or have teeth. They'll all do things when they are good and ready.

I haven't posted for a while, but I can't believe that our little ones will be one this month! a collective "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to all of them.

My DD2 has been giving us worry as she's been in hospital and is having more tests for "failure to thrive" but I suspect they're just being super cautious. She's been tested for cystic fibrosis so I won't be reassured until we get the results on the 15th which still feels like an age away. In herself she's fine and is walking pushing a little trolley, but can't stand up by herself. We've got her a swing for the garden for her birthday which she loves! (we've given her it even tho her birthday isn't till the 21st)
Hubby has taken DD1 and DD2 to a family wedding this weekend. I can't go as I had an operation 3 days ago and am not allowed to lift the baby for a week! The house is soooo quiet (the reason why I can post on mumsnet!)

Plama - sorry to hear about your probs with DD2, sure everything will be fine but I don't envy that wait for the cf test results - why do tests always take so long?! Hope you're feeling better soon too. Enjoy a bit of peace while you can.

SAHMof1 - it's not just your DS. We don't even need to leave the room for DS to start pulling at things he shouldn't - even worse when we do go out the room! It's all fun though

I cant believe a year has passed already and soon I will have a toddler in the house again I was just thinking about the stair gates again but we are going to be moving house once more so I wonder wether I can move real quik and put them up in the new house!! or maybe buy a bungalow!!

Hi all!
Well, it's our little puddings birthday tomorrow and me and dh have spent the day trying to get organised! We are having just family round in the afternoon (16 people! - dh has got a big family, only 3 out of the 16 are my side!!) I'll let you know how it goes
Dylan can't be bothered to try and stand on his own to walk, think he likes crawling too much and i'm sure he's breaking records for speed He likes to drag something along with him as well - usually one of dh's size 13 trainers! The washing machine has to be his fave toy at the moment, he will sit and watch it when it's on, then try and get in it when it's not! I'm going to teach him to separate the whites and darks next and he can do a few loads for me

Maddie's godmother had a baby 5 weeks ago and I cannot believe how different they are. It has made me realise how "toddlerish" Maddie is!! She is toddling too - just started last week but building up confidence.

Sniff - I grew up and a bungalow and my Mum thinks she was so lucky compared to me. No annoying stairgates and its easy to dash around from room to room.

Asur - how is the pregnancy going? Hope the second trimester is going well

Tom was 1 on Saturday and we had a lovely day - although he had an early night so missed out on the BBQ in his honour!

Still no teeth!

He has mastered the stairs now and our shelves are gradually becoming less and less cluttered!

Cant believe he is one! Also, cannot believe he hasnt got any teeth!

How CAN they be one??? It has just gone so quickly. Happy birthday to Tom, Dylan, Theo and all the babies. Seems so odd to think this time last year you were all just starting out with our little ones and I was coming onto MN to say 'I'M STILL NOT IN FLIPPIN' LABOUR!!'

Oliver doesn't turn 1 until June 8th (he was late, but I've stuck around on the May thread!), so we've got a ways to go. He has 4 teeth, with one more that I can just see below the gum, which is upsetting him at the moment - I sympathise Hockeymum!

He now walks to nursery with us in the mornings (it isn't far). Feels very weird to go out without a pushchair. He has reins to stop him dashing into the traffic - such a kamikaze... He's always running, climbing, and kicks a ball wherever he goes, just like his dad! He says Dada all the time, and very, very occasionally he says Mama. Mostly he just says 'Duggaduggadugga' and clicks his tongue like a little Masai warrior.

LilRedWG - while your HV is giving you a hard time because your little one isn't crawling, mine was giving me a hard time because Oliver was walking too early ('he'll be bow-legged if you're not careful!' Careful?? What should I do in order to be careful? tie him up?? Rugby tackle him every time he takes a step??? Lie next to his cot all night to stop him standing up in the mornings?). Basically you can't win, but if you're not instinctively worried, whatever the HV says, it's all probably fine. Mums definitely know best

We had a busy but lovely day with loads of family round at the house, but we coped and poor Dylan couldn't wait to get to bed, a bit overwhelmed!! Now we are having fun playing with the new toys!

Glad Dylan's birthday went well brummiemum looking forward to meeting you both tomorrow (didn't have a clue how tall you were - isn't it funny the way we picture people on here compared to how they are in real life)

I'm off on holiday to France on Monday for 2 weeks so you'll have the pleasure of a little holiday from my continual posting

HI all,

Sophie is one today!! We have been doing the whole 'this time last year' thing all morning , she was born at 10am. My friend had a baby last week who I went to see yesterday, it brought it all back, those first few days, struggling to BF, sweet smelling breastmilk nappies (well, sweet compared to when they start solids!), the sleepless nights etc.

Sophie can now stand unassisted for about 20 secs, hopefully she will be walking soon (may regret saying that!!)

Having a party Saturday (so that all her cousins can come). Damn weather, doesn't look like it's gonna be a BBQ afterall!!

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on for a while, been v busy organising parties (as you all are too I s'pose!) Niamh was 1 on 13th an dher Barbq party on the 12th was fab, although we were mostly indoors due to the damp weather. She was very tired at the end of the day but very happy. I think she enjoyed the balloons the best (we got a kit for 50 helium balloons and filled a gazebo with them, just watching her face was fab!)

She still only has 6 teeth but has some biggies on the way. She's been off nursery all week (again!) with hand foot and mouth this time. I had never heard of it until creche sent her home, but is relatively harmless. She's fine now and back to her mischievous self.

She's cruising all over and can walk about 5 steps alone, but will only do it between me and DH. The rest of the time if she gets stuck she stands and shouts, arms outstretched for someone to hold her hand whilel she walks where she wants to be.

Sure your kids are all scrumptious at the mo too - I'm just loving how observant, mischievous and giggly she is at the mo, it's great!

Happy birthday to all the babies and congrats on making it through the 1st year to all the mums - I think we all deserve a LARGE glass of wine this weekend, when I look back at what everyone's been through!

Happy Birthday to all the babies turning 1! DS was 1 last week but I didn't do anything! (I'm a mean mum!) He was thoroughly spoilt by his aunties, grans, grampas etc so didn't notice that we never got him anything! My mum bought him a cake so he got his first taste of it and seemed to love it (no big shock there!)

He really is getting to be a little boy and he is so cheeky. He can walk but doesn't see any need to - is so good at crawling that he doesn't see the point in trying anything else! He is really good at stairs though - we don't have any in our house but as soon as he goes to my parent's, he makes a bee-line for the stairs and is right up them!

plama - good news that your DD is 'dinky' Sure you're glad all that worry is over.

winkygirl - thanks for asking. everything is fine with pregnancy. Lots of kicking going on, indigestion and I can't stand chocolate but still no bump! Can't complain though.

I'm off work this week and I'm looking forward to spending a whole week with my little man. We'll be able to go swimming, go for walks, go to the park etc - all the things I don't seem to have time for at the weekends. Can't wait!
