Hi Pink. Sounds lovely where you are. In not so sunny Sheffield, it is cold and certainly not suitable for summer tops!

Where are you all today?

Hi everyone

Well I think Ellis could be teething again. Hes being very moany and irritable atm but I can't see any signs of teeth.
He already has his bottom two through and the one at the back keeps popping in and out lol!

I have my gorgeous HV coming tomorrow for a long visit. We were a bit concerned about the shape of Ellis' head so shes going to measure it for us and if its out we may have to take him to Newcastle or Leeds to have a special helmet made for him to wear
Dh has been mentioning it for ages but I wouldnt hear any wrong of my gorgeous little boy
Shes also going to have a chat with me about his sleeping to, so BHM I can give you some pointers after tomorrow

My dad is in shock bless him. He's a definate worrier and this has really got to him. We went to see him on thursday and he wasnt himself at all.
He's had blood tests but is going for an ECG and a treadmill test after this week.
The sad thing is, is that he doesnt have to do very much for it to kick off and its such a shame because he was such an active man.
Hopefully though, they'll be able to control it with some sort of medication.

Thanks for letting me rant

olivo · 26/03/2007 08:39

morning!

nbg, sorry to hear about your worries; hope your dad is ok and hope ellis' head gets sorted.

i'm also on here for a bit of a rant - back to work in three weeks and absolutely dreading it. am not too happy with my school as they are expecting me to teach something i havent taught before and that's no fun anyway , never mind half way through the year and when i havent worked for 9 months. i've been awake at night worrying ( i suffer from anxiety from time to time) about how i'll cope with ectra preparation and spending time with dd and sorting the house. keep getting really tearful about it. not good
dd is just gorgeous at the moment - she loves singing - was droning away and banging her rattle at chuch yesterday . the BLW is going well so far although she is only really eating once a day. we are off to the nurseru next week so hopefully they'll be supportive of it!

hope everyone else is well.

PinkTulips · 26/03/2007 13:02

well we managed to get through swimming with no lifegaurds having to dive in after sarah, lol

how is everyone today? are ye all having this beautiful weather.... summer is well and truely on it's way here and i'm loving it!

nbg, i'm so sorry your dad is taking it so hard. i hope he's feeling a bit better though and itsounds like he's got great support from his family which is great

caleb is teething badly (still/again!) so he's a little misery these days but hopeflly that damn tooth seems to be about to burst through so we might have a break from it soon.

that sucks about your school making you teach a new subject olivo, bet you'll be counting down the days til the summer holidays!

had a call from dd's PHN this morning and apparently the waiting list to see the paed is 9 months so she's got another 6 months wait unless my gp can be convinced to hassle for it to be sooner. the dietician and her (and us) are very concerned about her having to be on such a restricted diet for so long while we wait for answers and she was fuming about there being such a long wait so we're attacking the gp on all fronts to get things moved forward so keep your fingers crossed for us!

BigHotMama · 26/03/2007 22:31

Thanks for the link Pink (ooh that rhymes ha!) will be trying the method as from tommorrow night. He's still full of beans rolling around the floor and its feckin 10.30pm. He had got into such a good routine over the past months going to bed at 7.30 and now its all gon tits up! But tonight am bnlaming DH as he got him off to sleep at 5.30 then he slept till 7.30 so is wide awake now! Arggghh! Where do these little ones gets their energy from eh? I'm shattered by 9pm.

Let us know what your HV says NBG, hope Ellis' head measures up ok but if not am sure the helmnet thing works as saw it on TV the other day if its something to do with flathead? I bloody wish Jackson's head would get bigger he's got a pea head.

Sorry to hear your shitty news Olivo about having to go back and teach something totally new, seems daft at this stage? Hope your not too stressed out chick!

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/03/2007 22:37

well work went really well me and dh are still niggling and are being more tactile at the same time

cj i sstill bf so thats 8 months now yeah even at work the expressing is going well

wats going off with the meet up?

sorry to hear re appt for sarah is so far off pink keep fighting

poor ellis im sure there is nothing out of the ordinary wrong nbg and keep positive for your dad

not feeling too positive at th emoment am comtemplating cc with cj as she has no evening routine and is very strong willed and ive had enough

BigHotMama · 26/03/2007 23:07

Hiya Booby, sorry to hear things arent going so well with your dh but congrats to you BF for 8 months thats brilliant, you must feel really proud as its such hard work.

I just tried stage 2 of the link Pink mentions below on a different sleep method and its worked. Just placed ds into his cot with me standing next to it and i gently sang lullaby I normally rock him to sleep with and stroked his head and he's gone now, but it did take 20mins. I think I've sang myself tired too yawn!

Jackson's got a real snotty nose, keeps dripping and drying up all over his face. I had t peel ogg a hard bodey off his eyebrow today . Just put some olbas oil on a tissue and left it near the cot as his breathing is all stuffy bless.

BigHotMama · 26/03/2007 23:08

oops that should have said I had to peel a hard bogey off his eyebrow yes am going to bed now so tired

olivo · 27/03/2007 08:22

lol at bogey peeling BHM

well, i've had tears already today (mine, not dd!) and its not even nine o'clock. i'm so stressed over going back to work and never seem to find any time to open my books, never mind re-teach myself another language . part of me wants to tell them where to shove it but we really need the money my salary will bring and i dont get the rest of my maternity pay even, till i've been back for 3 consecutive months.i know i'll be fine once i'm back but its all too much at the moment.

anyway, to be positive, i'm off to boots after playgroup today to view the pictures that were done of dd - the guy did show me them on his camera and they were adorable; they're just so expensive, i think mr barclaycard will have to make yet another appearance!!

better go and rescue dd -she's smearing oatbix all over her high chair right now - that means the sofa is next...

Nbg · 27/03/2007 08:32

Awww Olivo, it must be hard for you hun.
I dont really have any words of wisdom for you either.
Just enjoy your last weeks with dd and think that no one can ever take that time from you and its such a precious time you've had together

Am going to check that link out pinky. I feel a bit reassured if you've tried it BHM
I tried putting Ellis in his cot for his nap yesterday but it was quite tough and I ended up feeding him to get him off to sleep, again!
I'll report back when HV been.

My house is upside down atm cos we're having carpet fitted at the front of the house so all the furniture has been piled in everywhere else. Its a bloody nightmare!

micku5 · 27/03/2007 12:19

Hi all, Hope you haven't forgotten me. Talia has been in hospital for 3 weeks. 2 of that was spent in ICU in London so I haven't had a chance to keep up to date.

Got back yesterday so am slowly trying to get organised and sort things thru. Will be on later to catch up with everyone else's news.

Take care.

Nbg · 27/03/2007 12:45

How is Talia Micku?
Hope everything was ok.

PinkTulips · 27/03/2007 13:59

eenybeeny · 28/03/2007 15:20

Micku so sorry to hear Talia has been unwell. Lots of love to you.

Well Alex has been unwell as well. He was in hospital over last weekend with Rota virus, poor thing had to be on a drip. Then we took him home from hospital and he promptly got a chest infection. I havent had time to catch up on the thread, I hope you are all well!

sarahlou1uk · 28/03/2007 16:06

Eeny - you are having a rough ride aren't you! It will get better soon though. Keep smiling and enjoying your little man. It will all be worth it shortly! You'll soon be getting broody again

OP posts:
BigHotMama · 28/03/2007 22:01

Hi all, so sorry to hear of little Talia and Alex being in hospital, hope they both on the mend now, cant imagine how hard that must be seeing your lo poorly like that. Sending big kisses X

NBG, only worked for a night lol, last night was awful, Jackson wouldnt go to sleep in his cot, kept crying and screaming and getting himself so upset we ended up getting him in our bed for the night .

Tonight he started the crying again after falling asleep in DH's arms half hour later he woke up crying so we decided to let him cry for 20 minutes and he eventually got himself off but it kills me to leave him crying but this bedtime madness is driving me potty!

Olivo sorry your stressing about this new thing you have been roped into doing, cant you go and talk to them and tell them its a no-go woudlnt they understand your situation hun?

Hey Booby its not morning sickness is it?

Oh and I had my 1st AF in 16 months this week yeah! I feel normal again.

Nbg · 29/03/2007 09:24

OK
HV reporting back

Regarding the sleep, she isnt convinced he's waking through hunger soooo she has suggested offering him a cup of water instead or half strength formula.

She also said the key is to get him into bed awake so that when he does wake up, he can learn to settle himself. This has actually worked for us the last 3 nights so I'm really pleased. Dont know what you think to that BHM?

Last night I stupidly gave in to my tiredness and didnt give ellis his 10/10:30pm feed so I ended up doing half past midnight, 2:30, 4:30 and 7
But I'll go back to doing it properly tonight.

He has also dropped a centile on his weight. He was on the 25th and has gone down to the 9th. He weighs 16lb 4oz. Strange because I looked at dd's and she was weighed at the exact same age and was the same weight!
HV didnt stress about it though, just said to pop into clinic in a fortnight to see how he's doing cos ideally we dont want him dropping anymore.
As for his head, thats fine. So no yucky big helmets for my gorgeous little boy

Eeny, poor you hun! I have no idea what a Rota virus is. What was the matter with him?I'm sure he'll start to pick up now especially now the weather is picking up. Lots of lovely walks in the sun.

dressedupnowheretogo · 29/03/2007 12:03

right just been to doctors as im still suffering this sickness and he reckons its indigestion wateva

did a pg test on tuesday and it was negative but think i might do another one asd i feel so weak

ooh poor alex ive had rota virus its horrid

well was in the bath at 2 and 4 30 this morning trying to soothe my tum so had no sleep again for the 2nd running

olivo · 29/03/2007 12:07

bonjour , bonjour!

micku - sorry to hear about Talia, how is she now?

and eeny - hope little alex is doing better now too. it's been one thing after another, hasnt it? keep smiling!

nbg - am really interested that your hv has recommended half strength formula - was wondering about doing that (and IIRC, your hv is really good- she was the one who encouraged blw, wasnt she?). also, i've been tempted a couple of times to miss the 10 ish feed but am now glad i havent. hope you feel less tired soon.
and you too BHM ( oh, and congratulations on your af . lucky you for getting away with it for this long!)
well, have decided to stop bf, gave dd her last feed last night. am quite emotional about it but its been a hell of a day so tears today are par for the course i think. dd slipped out of her high chair this a.m so it didnt start well! she seems to be ok but i'm watching her carefully. also, am still stewing about work, have emailed the Head teacher to express my concerns, just in case it backfires and anyone complains!!

got a friend coming round with her 4 month ds - she is going back to school when i do (my school) so at least i know i'll have someone to compare notes with!

hope everyone else is ok.

BigHotMama · 29/03/2007 12:20

Ah Olivo, the feeling of giving up bf is horribel, I remember sobbing and just staring at Jackson the whole day saying sorry to him , but hey you've done soo well you should celebrate it and feel proud hun.
Jackson rolled off our bed yesterday so I now cant leave him anywhere for a single second, I was watching him and the second I turned away bang, luckily he didnt hurt himself but think the shock made him cry, I felt guilty all day! DH wasnt impressed with me either
Just come back from playgroup session and ds is zonked yeah! He's been asleep for an hour now and loved the attention from all the little girlies as he was the only boy bless!
He slept really well last night after he cried for 20minutes at 8ish, I had to keep checking the monitor to hear him breathing as he didnt murmer. Fingers crossed he will be the same again tonight. I feel like I;ve had a decent sleep phew x

PinkTulips · 29/03/2007 15:02

caleb had a good night last night, he slept from 7 to 1am course he was a little nuisance after that and our alarms didn't go off this morning so we were late for playschool!

sorry about lex being ill again eeny, poor mite. and por you and sal having all that worry again.

bhm, the getting them down awake really does work, we've always done that with caleb and he's much better at settling himself than sarah ever was.... he just seems to have an endless run of illnesses and teething that stop him from sleeping but when he's feeling good he'll resettle himself no problems, we often hear him waking and looking for his dummy and going back to sleep when he finds it

BigHotMama · 29/03/2007 15:34

Great about Caleb sleeping better Pink! We really need to start putting him down awake as he relies on us to rock or hold him normally and doesnt it just wear you out? Today I havent even needed to do anything as he fell asleep in the buggy on way back from playgroup and just now he fell asleep at his bottle bless! Any sign of the new tooth yet?
