Hi girls. New thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lunavix · 05/03/2007 11:24

PT when are you and dp going to be trying?

I'd like to start TTC when dd is one, and then have the third when she's around two, and ds is around four and a half...

BigHotMama · 05/03/2007 11:35

Yeah nice new thread!

I'm definately up for Sundown meet up or Alton Towers? Not fussed really. Weekends are usually hectic for me but most Sundays are free and soon weekdays will be mine again after i finish work.

Jackson has now worked out how to get on all fours but just keeps getting frustrated and rocking forwards and backwards, so hopefully he will soon be crawling about. He keeps saying "ap..ap" not sure what he;s trying to say lol?

Does anybody have a good remedy for nappy rash? Jackson has got it for the first time bless and his skin looks very sore and chapped, have been using Vaseling and the odd bit of Sudocrem, and only using cooled boiled water to wipe his bum while its this bad. Could it be because he's teething?

NBG, I'm thinking of going onto the follow on milk SMA Progress, wonder if it would help ds sleep bit better? Some nights he'll wake 3-4 times and then he may sleep through once a week iof we're lucky. Last night he slept through from 7.30-6am wahey!

Sorry your feeling shitty Melsy and Pink, hope things get better for you both soon.

Eeny how did your job go? Bet you missed Alex lots, I miss Jackson so much, cant wait to be a SAHM again.

I've decided what I'm going to do with myself towards the end of the year. I'm thinking of becoming a Virgin Vie Party consultant selling cosmetics and jewellery working from home. Its so flexible and I know loads of people who would have a party, and it would be after ds has gone to bed so wouldnt miss seeing him as much.
Anybody want a party then?

I love reading on what all our babas are up to, arent they growing too fast! LOl at you lot who are thinking of babay No.3 are you Crrrrazy!

Snowboo · 05/03/2007 13:14

Hey all! Not sure about the meet up. Would love to come but if it means driving on motorway i'm stuffed. Ds1 hates trains, ds2 couldn't care less about much else than food and i'm not talking to dh....

Austin was 7months last week. Can't believe it. So no he is crawling, we have a tooth and he is saying nana, dada and no. Beasty.

And well done eeny on hte job, hope its going well!

PinkTulips · 05/03/2007 13:53

not sure when we're thinking about having the next one.... part of me thinks sooner rather than later so we get all of the baby crap out of the way quickly and they're all close in age and the sensible part of me says there's no way i could cope with 3 very young kids at once so we should wait.

caleb is trying so hard to crawl but still just goes backwards, although he seems happy enough with that!

luna,. he loves the blueberry pancakes, it's the only breakfast he's guaranteed to tear into and eat lots of and he finds them really easy to hold and bite bits off

Snowboo · 05/03/2007 13:55

So do you buy them ready made pink? (or am i being stoopid?)
Just might try piggy with them....

PinkTulips · 05/03/2007 14:13

nope... i make them. i just make american style pancakes (gluten free coz of dd) and make a blueberry sauce by putting some blueberries, a spoon of suger and a couple of spoons of water in a pot, bring to the boil, simmer for a few mins, strain and simmer for a few more mins. simple and tasty

Snowboo · 05/03/2007 14:37

Ah cheers for that love. Will attempt to make some later. Any other recipe ideas more than welcome! I've forgotten what to give when and HV is next to useless for ideas....

PinkTulips · 05/03/2007 14:44

i'm not great myself.... dinners are ok as he can have veg or meat or pasta or all of the above but breakfasts have me pretty stumped coz it has to be gluten free and it has to be finger food and there's few enough things that are both that don't require lots of cooking when i'm half asleep and frazzled!

Snowboo · 05/03/2007 15:38

somethings going on here...computer has a mind of its own!

So can i give Austin spag bol yet? About to make it fotr ds1and just wnodered....

lunavix · 05/03/2007 15:53

My new biscuit cookie and muffin book has lots of gluten free ideas

And how exactly do you make american style pancakes??

I'm a bit worried with dd and food - I was thinking of giving her pasta meat etc but couldn't it present a choking hazard? Or do you do that baby pasta stuff?

Snowboo · 05/03/2007 15:59

I've been using baby pasta or just plain pasta twilrs. Seems happy with both but now need t add some sort of sauce!

grannycrackers · 05/03/2007 16:17

hello, ds is saying his first word - he was crying today while i was busy, carrying him around trying to do stuff, when he looked me in the eye and said "dee dee" which is our word for bf. i know it might just be coincidence 'though

melsy - i have a dd, 3, too and she had terrible behaviour problems after the birth of ds, which i think was down to jealousy. the hv had some good advice and it's not a problem any more. perhaps your dd is jealous?

we have stopped using the first stage car seat - now ds sits in his sister's old seat which reclines a little and he loves it. she has moved on to a booster seat

i'm watching the thread with interest re food and recipes as ds is still mostly having mashed apples/bananas/potato

btw, i think it was bhm who asked about mumsnet closing down - i think it's a possibility due to the court action that's going on

lunavix · 05/03/2007 16:22

snowboo - she doesn't have any teeth so I'm worried she'll try and swallow the twirls whole?

PinkTulips · 05/03/2007 16:29

caleb has had spag bol for ages and loves it... very funny watching him wrestle spagetti

american style pancakes........ flour, baking powder, salt, eggs and milk (no idea how much of anything as i do it by eye... however much flour lands in the bowl, 2 eggs and a spoon of bp and enough milk to bring the mix to a thickish batter)

lunavix · 05/03/2007 17:14

PT doesn't he choke on the pasta and meat?

PinkTulips · 05/03/2007 17:21

nope, has no problems with it. he just chomps at the pasta with his teeth and the meat is minced. that said i give him chunks of meat to suck on too and he loves that.... he had pork chops, carrots, fried onions and mushrooms and fried potatoes for dinner tonight. and last night he had baked salmon, suger snaps potatoes and leeks.

have yet to find anything much besides raw apples that he can't manage

purpleturtle · 05/03/2007 17:24

Sarahlou - I've been offline a couple of days with a poorly computer.

Sorry Molly fell out of her chair. Can't say I'd recommend a bumbo, though. Already given back the one we borrowed. It's going to have to have straps if it's going to keep ds2 in one place. (As I type he's trying to get into the fireplace ).

Anyhoo, shouldn't be here, cos I need to make tea. Just excited to have a computer not displaying the blue screen of death.

Nbg · 05/03/2007 17:29

Wooohoo, I have dh on board for Sundown!
May would be better for us.

Ellis is just tucking into a banana atm . I think they're his faves.
I'm going to give the pancakes a go. I've heard alot of people say they're a great finger food as the babies enjoy them so much.

Snowboo · 05/03/2007 21:02

I've got the recipe copied down ready for the monrning. Austin did ok with the spag bol, better than ds1 who sat there the whole time saying 'yuk, thats gross Austin, don't eat it!' Cheeky little beast. He also told me to 'p**s off' earlier. Dh went mental and ds1 went to bed. So a nice peaceful evening for me

Oh and dh has bought me two tickets to see TT at the Millenium Dome in Dec! Wahay!!! I'm soooo excited already. Still not talking to him thou

Hello to everyone, can't think who wrote what now.
And scuse my typing, absouletly knackered so just making up spellings.

BigHotMama · 06/03/2007 10:34

Babypasta? Where can I get that from?
Jackson loves sucking on cheese on toast and last night had some mashed potatoe with swede. Havent tried him on any meats yet, may do some spag bol with mince meat. Do any of you use herbs in your cooking? not sure whether to add some after I've cooked some for ds?
Nbg, bananas are J's fave too . He has a whole one mashed for his pudding at lunch. (His seedy poo doesnt look very nice afterwards though lol.)

Snowboo · 06/03/2007 11:34

I buy it in Sainsburys. Or i think Waitrose do a version and baby organix used to do baby pasta. Must hunt that one out actually.
And yep, i put herbs in their food. Just no salt but he liked my spag bol last ight. I didn't like his nappy this morning thou!

purpleturtle · 06/03/2007 13:20

Boots have a range of baby pasta by Annabel Karmel - although i managed to bring something that's not exactly pasta, because it's based on rice. Does the job though.

Haven't seen the Organix baby pasta for ages. Our wholefood shop stopped selling it, because t hey had ot pay more for it wholesale than the supermarkets charged for it. But I haven't seen it in the supermarkets.

I sometimes just blitz the pasta with the sauce and feed him the resulting mush anyway.

BigHotMama · 06/03/2007 14:03

Thanks for the tips girls, knew I'd seen it somewhere and now I remember seeing it was Boots

lunavix · 06/03/2007 14:32

They do it in tesco too. It's not called baby pasta though, I think it's just diddy and in the normal pasta aisle.

I'm really stressed - our house is a bombsite (literally you can't see the bedroom floor for rubbish and clothe s ) My downstairs has to always be tidy cos of childminding so the upstairs is where our messy tendencies seem to explode... well anyways we found out yesterday we're going to complete on our new house by the end of the month so we told our landlord and someone's coming to view tonight

I just had to check emails as I've had a few parcels go astray, and I have 30 minutes before the school run, and 30 mins after the boys leave tonight before the person comes at 6.30!

I feel swamped!

eenybeeny · 06/03/2007 19:31

I dont know if I can give Alex any of these foods - he doesnt have any teeth yet. He has only ever had purees. Can I just give him bananas and pancakes? Wont he choke? Do all your babies have teeth?

Luna sorry hon dont worry you will sort it all out! Just take a deep breath and sort one thing at a time.
