Sept 05 babies - anyone else's destroying their house?

My 16 month/nearly 17 month old is systematically destroying our house. I literally cannot clear up one mess before he's made another. Today in the space of 30 minutes, he had got into three toilets and either pulled used paper out of them, shoved toys in them or used the loo brush to paint the walls.

He then got into the kitchen cupboard and got into the box of teabags and ripped them apart sprinkling the tea leaves on the floor.

He then walked into the hallway, reached up to the top of the telephone table (fairly high) and managed to knock off a VERY heavy glass vase so that it smashed into a million tiny shards (and remarkably walked away unhurt) and at the same time managed to smash the mini CD player underneath the vase.

While out at a soft play centre, he knocked over someone's cup of coffee, stole someone's lollipop and someone else's drink.

Once home, he dug up freshly planted bulbs and brought all the mud inside which he deposited in the kitchen cupboard.

Supper was smeared everywhere - I now have cous cous from floor to ceiling. And I won't even get started on what the toy room looks like.

In case you're wondering, I do keep an eye on him but have a 3 year old too and need to occassionally pee or get dressed. I feel like I am about to lose my mind. My house is a shit pit. I know I will spend hours clearing it up tonight only to have it destroyed again tomorrow.

Sorry for the moan. Just needed to get it off my chest instead of throttling the small chap. I know he's just exploring but my patience is wearing thin.

Hello Jaamy

mummyhill - give me a shout over the weekend if you get more than two moments to put together and we can chat about ring times and things - next week I'm away on my course again Thurs Fri Sat so will be building up for that in the week xx

Conrad's got very mumsy lately and cries if I leave... my sister is going to stay here whilst I'm away so that he'll still be in his home
i think the only reason he's been waking in the night lately is so he can snuggle up... sweet thing!

love to all xx

Hello .

Alice's birthday week has begun, with grandparental visits over the weekend. She was very impressed with her presents (doll that fits onto a backpack, Fifi and the Flowertots talking doll, a selection of knickers and a Peppa pig top, a lovely doll's cot and some Duplo).

I am wondering how much over-excitement there will be by Thursday .

mummyhill · 17/09/2007 16:52

Hi all, for some reason I can't get logged on the internet at night. Anyway Joel had a great time on his birthday. He loved his car and Iggle Piggle and got spoiled by his grandparents. He was pretty hyper for the whole day. We took him to Cairnie Fruit farm where he ran about like mad playing on everything. Saturday was just mad! There were 15 adults and 13 kids and we don't have a big house. They played pace the parcel which got a bit chaotic as all the younger kids wanted to keep the parcel and not pace it on!!! Luckily it was dry (not warm) so the kids could run about the garden. Joels bubble machine and new slide went down a treat outside. I honestly don't know if I would do it again in my own house next year. There were just people and kids everywhere! I would maybe check out how much it is do have a party at a soft play centre. It's hard aswell as all the family want to come, then I have some friends with kids his age and others just with babies that also want to come. It doesnt help aswell that my niece and nephew that are 3 & 5 are prone to very bad tantrums. Oh I almost forgot, one of the 3 year olds that was there blew out Joels candles when we were in the middle of singing Happy Birthday!!!! I could of killed him!
Anyway, hope all the other birthdays are a success. x

YvCH · 19/09/2007 15:09

I finally managed to get my nickname back to what it almost used to be!

Re the 3 year old blowing out Joels candles - I didn't actually say anything to him, just swore a lot inside my head!!!

wabbit · 19/09/2007 20:20

Joel sounds as though he had an amazing birthday party YvCH...

Splendiferous compared to the weak effort I'm making for Conrad this year... just so much on

Haven't posted for ages!!!!!

Can't believe that it's 2yrs since we were all wondering what our little ones would be like and now they are little people.

You were all so supportive and this helped me through my preg and beyond - thank you for this xxx

Happy birthday to all xxx

(having another baby in 2 weeks!! - can't believe this either - I'm just as huge as before and still haven't packed my hospital bag!)

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 23:20

Hello milward .

I was thinking about you when I was reminiscing through the late antenatal threads recently. Hope all goes well with the imminent birth .

mummyhill · 22/09/2007 09:04

Hi Milward Great to see you. Good luck with your imminent arrival.

David got up and was quite bewildered when his big sister shoved a prezzie in his face and yelled happy birthday. Neatly averted tears by giving a hug and blowing some bubbles. They are now fighting over his nice garage and toy cars.
