Sept 05 babies - anyone else's destroying their house?

My 16 month/nearly 17 month old is systematically destroying our house. I literally cannot clear up one mess before he's made another. Today in the space of 30 minutes, he had got into three toilets and either pulled used paper out of them, shoved toys in them or used the loo brush to paint the walls.

He then got into the kitchen cupboard and got into the box of teabags and ripped them apart sprinkling the tea leaves on the floor.

He then walked into the hallway, reached up to the top of the telephone table (fairly high) and managed to knock off a VERY heavy glass vase so that it smashed into a million tiny shards (and remarkably walked away unhurt) and at the same time managed to smash the mini CD player underneath the vase.

While out at a soft play centre, he knocked over someone's cup of coffee, stole someone's lollipop and someone else's drink.

Once home, he dug up freshly planted bulbs and brought all the mud inside which he deposited in the kitchen cupboard.

Supper was smeared everywhere - I now have cous cous from floor to ceiling. And I won't even get started on what the toy room looks like.

In case you're wondering, I do keep an eye on him but have a 3 year old too and need to occassionally pee or get dressed. I feel like I am about to lose my mind. My house is a shit pit. I know I will spend hours clearing it up tonight only to have it destroyed again tomorrow.

Sorry for the moan. Just needed to get it off my chest instead of throttling the small chap. I know he's just exploring but my patience is wearing thin.

mummyhill · 18/06/2009 08:09

Hello is there anybody here?

Ok grab a cuppa this is going to be a long one.

The pregnancy is going well. MS eventually subsided at around 20 weeks. I have 14 weeks left to go and feel that I have too much to do and too little time iyswim.

My nan passed away on Tuesday night after a 6 week battle with illness. We were expecting it and I am feeling a bit numb. Think it probably hit me properly at the funeral itms.

I have called into work and I apparently get 1 weeks paid leave for bereavement. So I took last night off and am saving the rest till I know when the funeral is.

They are having fun sorting everything out as Nan lived in a sort of no mans land. She paid rates to Atherstone, her post code was sutton, but her water was paid to south staffs, If we called an ambulance unless we specified and told them that Sutton was closer she would of been taken somewhere in Warwickshire. So after much phoning round it turns out that her death needs to be registered in Nuneaton which is miles away from where she lives. We can't do anything until we have the death cert though.

It's never ending. Nat is poorly now, think it is a uti, took her to the walk in after school and they have checked her over there was protein and white blood cells in her urine sample. So they have asked for her to be reviewed by GP this morning and a sample should be sent off to the lab before they start anti biotics. She has been complaining of a headache for about 3 days. I have given calpol and pushed fluids but last night I thought ok this has gone on long enough and got her looked at. Shortly after we got home she managed to throw up all over my bedroom and the bathroom. Lovely! Took her to the out of hours clinic as I wasn't happy about how she looked They have prescribed anti biotics and I have to take her to see our gp at 9.30 in the morning so they can send a urine sample to the lab. Gave her the first dose of meds and she went to sleep pretty much straight away. Was woken up at 4am by someone screeching for mum cause she had a headache. Went in and gave her calpol and told her to settle back down to give it chance to work. Had been back in bed about 10 mins when she decided her bed was wet. I nearly hit the roof because this means she was awake and deliberately wet it so she could climb in with us as she knows I can't change the top bunk atm. I made her get changed and put her in sleeping bag on the mattress on the floor in her own room. I know she is ill but honestly I refuse to be manipulated by a 7 yr old! Woke up this morning to find her curled up at the foot of our bed though.

This morning I have 2 over tired grotty kids and feel like a zombie!

Thanks Jaamy you are a star!

jaamy · 29/09/2009 10:10

Just in case anyone is still following this thread, thought I'd let you know that Mummyhill had a baby girl on Sunday. All home the same day and doing fine. I'm sure Mummyhill will let you know the details when she gets chance.

Am very excited for her and at her new little bundle.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. x

mummyhill · 07/10/2009 10:06

Thanks Jaamy.

Abigail Leigh arrived safe and sound on Sunday 27th September at 7.15 am weighing 8lb 4oz.

We had a few hiccups to begin with and have resorted to express feeding as I did with David and her weight gain is back on track after she lost just over 1lb in the 1st week! She is nearly back up to her birth weight now and is a much more settled baby.

mummyhill · 03/06/2010 18:54

Is anyone still here?

Abi is going great guns and is now bum shuffling everyhwere.

Davey is a typical boy and into/breaking everything. He still has speech issues but is getting speech therapy via school in September.

Nat is loving being the big big sisster and bossing everyone around lol.

Hope you are all keeping well and that all the children are fit and healthy.
