Sept 05 babies - anyone else's destroying their house?

My 16 month/nearly 17 month old is systematically destroying our house. I literally cannot clear up one mess before he's made another. Today in the space of 30 minutes, he had got into three toilets and either pulled used paper out of them, shoved toys in them or used the loo brush to paint the walls.

He then got into the kitchen cupboard and got into the box of teabags and ripped them apart sprinkling the tea leaves on the floor.

He then walked into the hallway, reached up to the top of the telephone table (fairly high) and managed to knock off a VERY heavy glass vase so that it smashed into a million tiny shards (and remarkably walked away unhurt) and at the same time managed to smash the mini CD player underneath the vase.

While out at a soft play centre, he knocked over someone's cup of coffee, stole someone's lollipop and someone else's drink.

Once home, he dug up freshly planted bulbs and brought all the mud inside which he deposited in the kitchen cupboard.

Supper was smeared everywhere - I now have cous cous from floor to ceiling. And I won't even get started on what the toy room looks like.

In case you're wondering, I do keep an eye on him but have a 3 year old too and need to occassionally pee or get dressed. I feel like I am about to lose my mind. My house is a shit pit. I know I will spend hours clearing it up tonight only to have it destroyed again tomorrow.

Sorry for the moan. Just needed to get it off my chest instead of throttling the small chap. I know he's just exploring but my patience is wearing thin.

Jaamy can you let me know the best time to call for a chat please.

WOW Millward it sure does sound complex.

JaamityvilleHorror · 18/10/2007 12:27

Hi MH

Anytime in the afternoon would be best, then will have completed the nursery drop off/pick up palarver and will welcome any interruption to the housework.. ALthough mon and tues are out unttil end of the month as still working.

In the evening, probably best after 8. Might have a remote chance that DDs will be tucked up in bed.

Whichever's more convenient (or cheaper) for you. Will email landline number too if that's better for you.

Redhelen · 21/10/2007 16:41

I'm off to Newcastle this weekend to take dd to a MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE gig there and visit my brother and his family too... my poor little car is toting up the milage of late... down to dd's dads... up to york for uni... now off to Newcastle - was the Nissan Micra really made for this???!!!???

Jaamy! your halloween name is inspired!!!

best wishes to you all - Milward hope everythings going well with your newest arrival...

Take care xx

Redhelen · 11/11/2007 16:48

Hello!

How are you Wabbit? Are you ok Mummyhill - you are quiet?

Working too hard here! Sitting staring at a pile of work and I really must start it - or I can't watch Come Dancing (sad old gizzer that I am!!!)

wabbit · 13/11/2007 17:07

hiya Redhelen I'm well, the weekend in Newcastle was fantastic and Nandy LOVED the gig... she's going to see them again on Thursday when they play London.
She twisted her dads arm to get her a ticket for her birthday.. she's going to stop with him from Wednesday to Sunday (more driving for me!)

Are you still doing the Slimming world Classes?

My brother has Challenged me to train for the Great North Run next year.... I've never done that distance but I'm tempted to do something so drastic to get rid of the wobbly tummy and thighs I've still got since Conrad

Right... going to change into tracky and trainers to show willing

(secret Strictly fan here too!!)

Take Care Everyone x

Hello all

OverRated · 16/11/2007 03:58

Hello all

Not much to report, just wanted to say hi!

DS is talking non-stop. Since the clocks changed he's been a bit obsessed with the moon. He keeps saying "Hi Monster Moon" I have no idea where that came from. Can only think it must be a book he has at his Dad's house...

wabbit · 16/11/2007 12:22

hi there OverRated, C's very aware of the moon and stars now too, I can remember Nandy being just the same... if we're out and about in the dark i get a running commentary on the Stars, Moon and Sky! so sweet - but 'monster moon'?

You're probably right that it's linked to the clock change (and getting more darkness hours when they're awake) but there's a bit of me that would like to think it's that our little ones are becoming more aware of the vastness of their surroundings and a kind of wakening... call me off the wall!!

Hope everyone's having a good week and looking forward to the weekend

wabbit · 19/11/2007 02:05

helloooo to everyone too

Redhelen · 21/11/2007 10:58

Hello!

Hello! It is lovely to hear the little people have lots to say - Rachel spends all day asking questions - she has a horrid habit - she points at some one pulls a face and says 'What's That?' Must go she is yelling - 'I'm finished Mum' I wish she would call me Mummy - but she copies her Big brother! She also yells shutup if I sing!

mummyhill · 21/11/2007 12:15

Davey still very quiet little boy. Can say a few bits and bobs but tends not to. Will get there in own time I imagine

Thanks wabbit will prob give you a shout on Friday if thats ok.

wabbit · 21/11/2007 22:39

I get called 'C*be' by Conrad as the children in my little Steiner group call me by name... it's called in a 'help me... I'm wilting' sort of tone!

Otherwise it's usually 'mum' but occasionally, if he's not expecting to see me, I get a gleeful 'MUMMY!' greeting

mummyhill · 22/11/2007 08:19

Oh bless your little man. I can't wait to see him again. Did noop have a good birthday? Would love to see her too and find out how goom mcr were in concert. Love to you all.

And huge hello to everyone else.

wabbit · 25/11/2007 17:23

She did have a great birthday thanks MH... she'll tell you that MCR are the best band in concert of course!!!

Got my first christmassy things today it's a first for me to even think about festive stuff until well into december!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend x

wabbit · 02/12/2007 23:51

Hi All - mad weekend in York doing my Steiner course - Anthroposophy this weekend - can hardly pronounce it!!

Hope you're all well xx

mummyhill · 03/12/2007 12:37

Getting there slowly.

northernrefugee39 · 04/12/2007 08:33

wabbit- I'm really interested in the Steiner training course you're doing- interested that you're doing anthroposophy this w/e.
I've had 3 kids at Steiner- have posted alot of threads on this- what do you think about the anthroposophy in your training? Don't you think that all the people who are interested in Steiner education should be told about this - it's a sort of spiritual science/religion isn't it?

Redhelen · 07/12/2007 20:44

Hello!

Hope every one is well!

Have darted round getting ready for Christmas and now leaving the country for two weeks 'see' you on 24th December!

wabbit · 17/12/2007 01:49

Yes very well RH... so so busy though, madly looking forward to the end of term and the holidays!!!

Yippee.. last 4 days

Hope all's well with everyone and christmassy things are going to plan xx

(Northernrefugee... i'll answer your question another time... just going to bed )

Nighty night x
