Sept 05 babies - anyone else's destroying their house?

JoshandJamie · 07/02/2007 17:52

My 16 month/nearly 17 month old is systematically destroying our house. I literally cannot clear up one mess before he's made another. Today in the space of 30 minutes, he had got into three toilets and either pulled used paper out of them, shoved toys in them or used the loo brush to paint the walls.

He then got into the kitchen cupboard and got into the box of teabags and ripped them apart sprinkling the tea leaves on the floor.

He then walked into the hallway, reached up to the top of the telephone table (fairly high) and managed to knock off a VERY heavy glass vase so that it smashed into a million tiny shards (and remarkably walked away unhurt) and at the same time managed to smash the mini CD player underneath the vase.

While out at a soft play centre, he knocked over someone's cup of coffee, stole someone's lollipop and someone else's drink.

Once home, he dug up freshly planted bulbs and brought all the mud inside which he deposited in the kitchen cupboard.

Supper was smeared everywhere - I now have cous cous from floor to ceiling. And I won't even get started on what the toy room looks like.

In case you're wondering, I do keep an eye on him but have a 3 year old too and need to occassionally pee or get dressed. I feel like I am about to lose my mind. My house is a shit pit. I know I will spend hours clearing it up tonight only to have it destroyed again tomorrow.

Sorry for the moan. Just needed to get it off my chest instead of throttling the small chap. I know he's just exploring but my patience is wearing thin.

And Milward - I was a wee bit jealous when I read your news - but I'm ok now!

Can any one recommend a good home for exhusted and over streched mothers? - where they can relax and recharge their batteries before being admitted to the looney bin! ha!

IdrisTheDragon · 22/09/2007 19:47

Happy Birthday Dylan! Did you do anything nice?

SunnyJaamy · 23/09/2007 15:45

Milward - Hello!!!
Bit of your news as we're TTC here. Is this no 5 for you? You're gonna be even busier! Hope all goes OK with impending arrival. Isn't it funny how family birthday's seem to group around a particular time of year. All the best.

mamama · 23/09/2007 16:03

Hello all - hope the LOs had lovely birthdays. DS had no idea what was going on, but loved his new train set and our trip to the zoo. We had spent weeks practicing:
Me: How old are you?
DS: I'm TWOOO (holding up three fingers)

but yesterday, when asked how old he was, he insisted on saying, "No". He did later manage an exasperated, "Mummy, I'm two"

Picture of Cake in my profile (the Thomas one)

Hope everyone is well.

mummyhill · 23/09/2007 17:38

Bless he was bewildered by the singing and didn't know what to do with the candles on his cake so Nat showed him!!!!!! We had a uiet day yesterday but have just got back from a lovely pub lunch with nans, grandads, great grandma, my sister and her little one. FOllowed by a trip to the wacky, both children are shattered I just hope they sleep well tonight.

CONGRATULATIONS to you Milward and welcome to DD5! It's a wonder that you have time to post at all, though I suppose you can make the most of BF as a time to sit down.

Will have much more time on my handsd soon - am having to give up work. Mum has been ill and shouldn't really be looking after the littlies so much. NOt worht my while going to work if I have to pay nursery any more £.

How does one be a SAHM?

HOpe everyone else is OK.

Milward - your life continues to intrigue me!!! "we managed to find a name that works in the languages spoken in the family"

Abigail had a lovely birthday party at the weekend with a Fifi theme. We even decorated cakes and planted bulbs! Can't believe she's 2! Growing up so fast.

I've missed so much - I can't keep up with this thread! Congrats, Milward.

And MH (it's me, the one in the US - I name changed to keep a low profile, hope you know who I am!). I hope things are looking a little better.

milward · 18/10/2007 09:51

hugs to mummyhill xxx

jarmy - hope everything goes well with becoming a sahm. I'm a sahm & by the time I've got everything sorted out it's time to collect from school.

we just have different nationalities - when we're all together we have 7 nationalities combinations(I think) and 2 languages (english & french) in use and then 3 other languages that some speak but not all. My oldest dd is trilingual and the others bilingual - hopefully they'll be fluent in all 5. It can get complicated sometimes!!!

JaamityvilleHorror · 18/10/2007 12:13

LOL and I'm worrying about keeping up with DD1 who's just started learning french in nursery!

Noticed your post on the Christmas appeal thread and saw that no one had replied to your question. The original post has all the details about who to email. HTH

I know I'm not going to have much spare time as a SAHM just a bit worried about the drop in income and whether anyone will think me employable (in what I do) when the time eventually comes for me to get back to work.

Hi OR - hope everything OK over there with you.
