Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Chuffed · 30/11/2007 06:35

oooh let us know asap barrelrider.
I just knew I was pregnant with ds within days and I have heard others say the same thing.
Fingers crossed.x x x

iris66 · 06/12/2007 10:28

Hi all - Dominic's at creche for the morning and Elliot's blasting zeds (he smiles now - bless )so thought I'd do a little catch up as I keep doing posts then either losing them or not having time to finish them and so deleting(ought to do them on word really & save them ready to paste)

We're off to London tomorrow as Dominic's been referred to St Thomas' because of his eczema. it's got to this but glad we got the referral. They've invited us to take part in a peanut allergy study (LEAP study)too so he'll be thoroughly tested for everything tomorrow before the formal acceptance (we figured that if he is going to develop peanut allergy we'd rather it was under medical supervision IYSWIM) Poor little lamb looks like a burns victim where we tried him with pear a couple of days ago (all fruit has been problematic but we try periodically to see if he's grown out of anything and pear is the most neutral apparently ) nothing seems to be helping so we're really pleased he'll be getting specialist support now.

Lyra - your spa weekend sounds lovely (I'll take note of Risley for when we're next up your way) and I know what you mean about the lurking I never seem to have anything new to say.

Hope all you pregnant/TTC ladies are OK

By the way, does anyone fancy a meet up at some point next year? Thought it would be nice for us all to get together - though I know we're all miles apart - I figured if we arranged it enough in advance we could perhaps do something. Anyone?

Chuffed · 07/12/2007 06:11

Good luck tomorrow iris. I heard that the stronger kids get excema from allergies/intolerances as the body is pushing it out not keeping the toxins in if it is any consolation. Good that you can get the support, there is a real shortage for that in UK isn't there.

Nothing new here either. ds is very opinionated and knows what he wants. He will not keep a sunhat on except for his sisters one and with all this summer weather we have had already and more coming up I have been despairing so I went and bought a hat like his sisters in light blue, it has sparkles, beads sewn into it, a huge beautiful brim and he LOVES it and won't let his sister put it on. dh is sure that I am going to make him gay but as far as I'm concerned keeping a hat on overrides that. You don't wear hats everywhere, I have been really uninspired about shoes and dh made a sarcastic comment about me buying him girls shoes next - well that I don't feel as comfortable about.

Preg all OK, scan at the end of next week which we are looking forward to.

iris66 · 07/12/2007 19:58

Thanks Chuffed - that really makes sense about the pushing toxins out (trying to find out the what and why though is a different matter )
London was hideous - we did train/tube (never again!) it was sooo overcrowded - no seats on anything - and then we got to St Thomas' to discover Dom is too old to take part in the study!! On a positive note though, the consultant was so embarassed about the gaffe (and that we'd not had our referral appointment yet) that he gave Dom a good going over and prescribed a whole host of stuff to help ease the discomfort A very hard day but worth it in the end
off to get some dinner on now (DH very grateful I got some steak out the freezer this morning

barrelrider · 10/12/2007 12:29

Hi again girls

Well I'm not pregnant . Period was a day late. I'm so embarrassed, what an idiot!

I still have the heartburn though, don't know what's going on there?!?!

Iris I'm up for a meet up, that would be great. Sorry to hear about your trip to London, what a nightmare

Better go the boss is watching!

Chuffed · 13/12/2007 11:24

Well we have news. Still 3 little ones - abnormality scan has been delayed until next week as they couldn't fit the 'hour' into the schedule today. They approx about 20mins per baby

Our shock is that it appears we have 3 little princesses on the way so that will make 4 teenage girls in the house at the same time.

Poor ds he will be completely outnumbered. I will really have to savour these 'boy' moments.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 13/12/2007 12:18

Hello everyone. Haven't posted on here for ages as have been lurking on the m/c thread with Kitty.

It's been v quiet here though. How is everyone? Up to your eyes in Christmas stuff I bet.

Am feeling way more positive about life in general now. Really wobbly after m/c. Still not sure if AF has returned. Small bleed on tues 40+ days after D&C op so not sure if that counts. Have decided to leave it a while until TTC again because (are you sitting down?), we heard on Tues that we've won our building appeal , . So immensely pleased. it's only taken a bloody year to get these sodding pland approved. This means that we can start building in late Feb. It'll be a lot of hard work cos I'm project managing and couldn't face being pg at the same time.

Only downer at the moment is that hormones obviously going nuts and HUGE lumps on chin, under nose and middle of forehead. Bright red, can't miss 'em nothing covers them lumps. Look ridiculous.....

Chuffed - fab news about 3 girls. I'd take cover now because the screaming fits that will ensue will be tremendous. You should build DH and DS a shed to hide in . Mollie (DD1) is 6 going 16 at the moment. She's a stroppy cow , so god knows what it's going to be like for you with 4 of them.....

Iris - Count me in for a kness up. How are the boys doing? has Elliott settled in OK? How's Dom dealing with him?

Barrel - Look on the bright side... least you can have drinks over Christmas now you know you're not pg .

lyra41 · 20/12/2007 07:49

Hey there girlies

How are you all doing? Just finished work yesterday, so I'm looking forward to a long break and lots of r & r with a few pressies thrown in for good measure! I so need some time off atm, work is not the best. I'm sure it will all look different after a couple of weeks off.

Well Now I have Xmas to contemplate. Grocery shopping due to arrive this am, a bit early for the Big Christmas Food Shop, but it was the best Ocado could do.

The house is filthy so I will need to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in while the kids are still at school. My cleaning lady has been ill this week so I've been without her usual assistance, so doubly filthy house to contend with. Ah well, it'll be great when it's finished!

Georgie,

hope you're beginning to feel better and that Christmas will be fun with Moo and Boo. What are you up to? Hosting or guesting, or neither? What is Moo getting for Christmas? I wasn't going to get Alex much as he's still pretty unaware, but then I succumbed to a very cute iggle piggle toy that sings and dances etc. Hope he likes it, if not I think I'll play with it quite a lot.... His favourite toy atm is a box full of dd's old playmobil that it probably totally unsuitable and tiny. He loves to empty it all over the floor - nice.

Dh has an interview in Sheffield today, so any prayers, positive vibes, whatever, would be welcome. We're hoping they'd accept him p/t as Sheffield is about an hour and a half's commute from here. He's just accepted vol redundancy from work so he's fancy free and looking for something else. In fact he's been under by feet at home for the past few months.

Iris

How is life with 2 babies? Is dd home from Uni yet? THings must be fairly busy with you eh? Is your dp home atm or still away with work? Hope Dom's excema is improving. I have it bad too, the cold weather doesn't seem to help. Good news that you found a few triggers when you went to the hosp though. How is the new baby's skin? Alex was very dry for weeks, like a little scaly thing and I was really worried, but he seemed to grow out of it by about 3 months. He just gets a bit behind the ears now. My ds1 has it too, it's a real challenge to get him to put the cream on so he doesn't really keep it under control very well.

Barrel rider,

good luck ttc. How is life going? Have you finished work yet? How are your Christmas plans goin?

Rach

Long time no hear! How are things? Have you had your wedding yet? I bet you're mad busy with organising Christmas for your mob! What's the present of choice at yours?

Must go and eat brek now, more later. xxxxxx

lyra41 · 21/12/2007 12:53

bump

Tickle · 21/12/2007 21:56

Hello girlies!

Sorry I've been away so long - we have had an almost constant run of colds and nasty bugs... in fact all 6 of us are rather sniffly at the mo. DH & I are blaming the lack of sunshine - apparently lack of vit D depletes the immune system, and we haven't seen the sun for most of the blimmin autumn.

Very dark up here, but heartened to have 'turned the corner' and passed the darkest day. Roll on summer!

We are all off to Copenhagen for Christmas, to DH's family. Just his parents, siblings, and our kids' cousins... makes 22 people in all I have 1 sister and 2 cousins in the whole world, and grew up celebrating with just my granny and great aunt over, so it feels a bit different! Plus over here the evening of the 24th is the big event.

Congrats Georgie on your building permission - yah boo sucks to the neighbour. We are just starting renovating at the farm, and unfortunately neighbour is a rather prickly spinster, a retired solicitor to boot, who gave us lots of agro over starting the nature centre. Hopefully there won't be anything to offend her

Lyra - how did DH's interview go? What's his line of work? Must be nice having him around, but I have to admit that DH works at home a lot, and I do like having the place to myself occasionally

Chuffed - lovely to hear it's pink, pink, pink!!! How are you feeling this time round? You must be exhausted. Enjoy the 1 hour scan - at least it's a chance to put your feet up

Better luck next time Barrelrider

Better go and sort some clothes for our trip... it'll be quite an operation getting all the prezzies kids and dog into the car - wish me luck!

A very merry Christmas and a peaceful* New Year to one and all.

Tickle xxx

*the battery-operated toys should have worn down by then.

ps never did go winter swimming... DH was called out to go vetting. Phew!

wherethewildthingsare · 21/12/2007 22:05

Hi all! Sorry haven't been on for ages, nearly felt I couldn't come back on but it was lovely that you're still thinking of me When I finished my old job they stripped me of my home office and it took ages to get a new pc and broadband sorted. I also have an hour and a half round trip to work via nursery which is eating up my days. I can't access mumsnet at work and if dp isn't on here downloading films then ds1 is doing his homework, ds2 is playing on runescape or dd is on club penguin! Finn is the only one who doesn't show an interest... yet!

Just to say - Georgie - good luck with the ttc - much sticky fairy dust to you, Congrats to Sweetkitty and Chuffed (3 - wow! i have a friend with triplets, boys now nearly 11) Iris - congrats on the birth of Elliot (reminds me of the little cute boy in ET!) Lyra - hi to you! Hello to everyone else too.

Have had the day from hell here, came home drunk(ish) last night and somehow left the back gate open. Let whingeing dog out at 4am and he went awol. Spent 2 hrs worrying in bed until someone walking their dog brought him home at 6am! I then had to clear up some delightful dog vomit caused by rummaging through people's bins no doubt. Rushed with sleepless hangover to the hospital for a hearing test with Finn. Unfortunately turns out he has now lost both grommets and his hearing/glue ear is as bad as when we started. Even worse, he may have an underlying hearing problem although I hope it was just that he was too engrossed in his jigsaw to be distracted. Other than that he is lovely and getting very grown up, an absolute tartar with the other kids who indulge him terribly. Anyway then i got home to discover the cooker had fused (4 days from xmas!!!) and had to ring every electrician in the phone book before I could get one to come out. We then had to go to currys to get a new hob and pray he can fit it tomorrow otherwise xmas lunch is cancelled.

DS1 is having a bmx, DS2 a skateboard and wii games, dd skates and bratz and Finn a dancing Iggle Piggle...

Its going to be very weird to have our first xmas without mum still find myself reaching for the phone to talk to her. I feel an awful sense of responsiblility without her to talk to. Hoping for a better 2008.

Really looking forward to our wedding/hols in Mexico in May and now have nice hen trip in Barcelona booked

Happy Christmas all!

Tickle · 21/12/2007 23:11

Nightmare on the hob front Rachey... can't you make do with a camping one set up with a gas bottle if all else fails? Sorry to hear you're finding it so hard without your mum - and Christmas is an especially tough time when you miss someone. {{hugs}}

Ooh Barcelona and Mexico... now that sounds SUNNY

All this talk of iggle piggle reminds me that my mum has sent a box of Christmas stuff (including said doll for Theo) and it hasn't arrived.. Fingers very much crossed it is not lost forever.

lyra41 · 22/12/2007 08:28

Rach

Alex is getting the dancing Iggle Piggle too, I just couldn't resist.

AAArgh re. the cooker, sod's law eh?

Your day from hell sounds grim, and so sorry to hear about Finn's ears. Is his speech still developing well? (Can't switch of my speech therapy radar!) Are they going to re-do the grommits?

The wedding and hen do sound fab to look forward to. Are you managing to get a honeymoon for 2 or is it a family affair?

Thinking of you missing your mum, I still really miss my dad after 3 Christmases without him. It doesn't really get any less painful, but you get used to it somehow. Mum still struggles a lot with it, I don't think she'll ever really move on. After 49 years with someone though, I can understand it.

Have you managed to keep the weight off after your herculean effort and fabulous results earlier this year? I haven't and feel determined to try again in the new Year. I so wish I was one of those naturally slim people who eat whatever they like and struggle to gain a few curves. Sigh.

Tickle

Thanks for the good wishes, dh got the job! Yay, it's a great boost for him confidence wise, as the past year or so has been really difficult. His previous company treats its employees really badly so he's well rid of them I reckon. He does computer work, all too technical for me to (bother to) understand, systems architecture, business analysis, mean anything to you? No, me neither! going to your in-laws in the car sounds like quite a major task, good luck with all the packing, it will be so good to get there and just relax. Lucky you being cooked for. Enjoy.

There's a thread on here about what have you still got left to do before Xmas, i recommend reading it with paper and pen to hand, there were lots of things I'd forgotten about - like buying crackers and cleaning the oven.

lyra41 · 22/12/2007 08:30

Merry Christmas everyone. xxx

ChrIRIStmasfairybigpants · 22/12/2007 10:39

Lyra - a thread about what you've forgotten Noooooooooo! That so panders to my compulsion to get everything done by Christmas Eve - aaagghhhh!!

Bit manic here. Will catch up & post properly later as DD's due home in about 20 mins. Merry Crimble in the meantime everyone

Chuffed · 24/12/2007 17:01

Merry Christmas everyone - it is 5.45am on Xmas morning and guess who has had leg cramps so bad I can't sleep.

Scan went well, everyone has everything they are supposed to have which is great. I'm worried about how big I'm going to be I'm in my 21st week and am about as big as I was at about 32/33 wks with ds. Not sure what I'm going to be able to wear soon.

We are having everyone to ours for Christmas - being summer (but not forcast to be very nice weather) we have a cold lunch and everyone brings a couple of dishes and when present opening is finished we just put everything on the table. We have potato salad (making it this morning) and pavlova to do. Also have to put whipped cream and strawberries on the pav.

We'll do ds's birthday this afo and have a birthday desert so he'll blow out some candles and get the rest of his b'day presents then we'll all have all the sweets. It works out quite nicely having a good break in between.

The kids are getting a bit spoilt this year, Santa has got them an outdoor slide, dh and I have got them both bikes plus they have quite a few cool bits and pieces in their super sized stockings.

Georgie - congrats on your building permit, it will be such a relief to have it start.

Tickle - great to have you back and that you are all starting to feel better. I think you have your ideal excuse for a sunny holiday of some kind next winter yes?

Rach - so sorry you are still having lots of bad luck and of course it will be hard without your Mum. This might sound wierd but talk to her anyway, she is there with you and you'll have moments where you will feel her so close by. Very jealous abut your travelling I have the itchiest feet.

Lyra- hope you have lots of r&r over xmas. Well done to your dh, sounds a bit like what dh does/did he is doing some project management stuff in those areas now.

Good luck with sticky dust and ttc too!!!!############################################# ###########################################

lyra41 · 25/12/2007 21:26

Merry Christmas Chuffed!

Yowch with the cramps, I remember it well from pg, some kind of mineral deficiency I think, maybe potassium, I think you can get supplements if it continues to be bad.

Your Xmas sounds great, very chilled and familiy focused. Next year's should be pretty similar!!!

Can't imagine having 3 babies in my tummy, how does it feel? Are they really cramped in there and barely move, or is it like a barrel load of monkeys?

We're all chiled out here too, stuffed to the gills with yummy food and sitting in PJ's watching TV and nibbling on chocolate.

Chuffed, what's your due date btw? I presume you're having a planned C section?

lyra41 · 25/12/2007 21:27

chilled

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 25/12/2007 22:02

Spooky I am keeping the Dancing Iggle Piggle for T's birthday, her favourite toy was a Little People Train Set.

Chuffed - you must be getting big, can't believe your DS is two as well, is anyone else scared about them becoming 2, 2 means toddlers not babies anymore. Am of your weather still though.

Rach - good to hear from you, loved the dog story as well

Lyra - merry christmas to you too, I'm in PJs and eating Jelly Beans, only managed half Christmas dinner MS still here but officially 12 weeks today. Had a bleed at 10 weeks and they refused to scan me as it wasn't red and I wasn't in pain. So I still don't know for sure this one is OK and you don't get to see a midwife here until 16 weeks oh and you only get one scan anyway will keep you all posted.

Iris - Merry Christmas to you all too x

Tickle - Copenhagen sounds fab too it was just the four of us today which was nice can't imagine having a big family bet it's great fun and loads of help with the kids x

hello and Merry Christmas to anyone else I have missed out x

lyra41 · 27/12/2007 06:30

Anyone else up and doing the washing yet? Of course not, I'm sure you're all sleeping, as any sensible person would be at this unearthly hour.

ds woke at 5am (yawn) and after a half hour bf was ready for the day. dh's turn for a lie in, so it's cbeebies for A and mn for me.

yesterday i had the rellies round for a post Xmas get together. i made a lamb casserole about 11am then put it in the slow cooker to keep warm. Delicious, but unbelievably there was a portion left over (!). I put it in the fridge about 10pm, do you reckon it will be ok to eat, or should i ditch it as it's been kept warm so long? will post this on the food thread too I think.

hope y'all had a grand time over Christmas and that all the pressies went down well.

what's everyone doing for NY?

Tickle · 27/12/2007 14:58

hey lyra - should be fine if it was kept HOT rather than lukewarm for a long time... just when you heat it, make sure it boils!

off to design a chicken house with dh - back later!

Tickle · 01/01/2008 22:41

Happy New Year everyone

iris66 · 02/01/2008 16:20

Happy New Year! - can't believe it's 2008!!!!! Hope everyone has lots of what they want and everything they need this year

Chuffed · 02/01/2008 17:11

Happy New Year to all and have fun with all these up and coming birthdays.

Yes I'm getting pretty big, I think about what I was at about 35wks with ds but then I carried quite small with the other two. They do move around a bit but it is certainly cramped for them now.

My news is that I got appendicitis on 27th Dec, (thought it was constipation), went into hosp again on the 29th and had my appendix out. Home on 31st but feeling very sorry for myself as not only am I a huge whale I have pain and immobility from the surgery now.

Kitty, fingers crossed for all to be well. If you are at all worried could you have some bloods taken over a couple of days to see if your hormones continue to go up. Your GP should be able to get that arranged.

I won't bore you with stories of all our gorgeous summer weather as I haven't been able to enjoy it either really but am loving it all the same

lyra41 · 03/01/2008 08:59

Chuffed

Good grief, your poor surgeon having to remove your appendix with 3 babies in your tummy! I bet that was a first for her. Here's hoping you're getting lots of support in your recouperation period. x
