Here we go ladies a brand new sparkly thread for our little toddlers!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ForcesSweetheart · 06/01/2008 01:13

My goodness Chuffed, you poor thing. I can't imagine what it must be like to have three of the little wrigglers in there, but to undergo surgery on top! Hope you're starting to feel less sore.

I haven't been around much at all lately, my mind's kinda been elsewhere. I'm having Gastric Bypass Surgery on the 24th and it's pretty much all I can think about. The official mortality rate is given as 1 in 200, and I'm not one of the severely high risk candidates, so praying I'll get through it OK - besides if I don't have it done the diabetes etc will surely kill me anyway, just more slowly. I joined a local Weight Loss Surgery support group and a month or so ago we lost one of our members 2 days after she had her bypass, but they say she had a lot of risk factors and was operated on by a VERY inexperienced surgeon who only qualified as a General Surgeon a year ago, and wasn't used to doing such specialised surgery. Please cross everything for me. The surgeon (very experienced specialist btw) reckons I should find TTC no2/pregnancy etc a lot easier after the op. He said to expect to lose between 8 and 12 stone.
Sorry I haven't had time to catch up on all the posts, I feel bad when I spend time on the laptop at the mo with Andy having been away so long, kinda like I have to spend every free minute with him (i'm sure that'll soon wear off, he's on 7 weeks post-operational-tour leave right now and starting to get under my feet!).
Updated pic of Lola on profile.

Hi girls...

Wow Chuffed! Starting to suspect that you are fulfilling unrequited ambitions for the stage How dramatic!!! Hope you are feeling less sore and that dd and ds are giving you a bit of rest. Haven't done anything about digging out the nappies yet, but am determined to be more organised in 2008, so they should turn up at some time

Hello ForcesSweetheart Good to hear from you and lovely photo of Lola aka scary spice! Must be strange getting used to having DH back after such a long spell away - lovely but your routine, and his(!) must be SO different! I'm sure the surgery will go fine... it'll be great to do something so positive, and then you can concentrate on TTC #2

Lyra - congrats on DH's job - was it p/t in the end?

We are all ok, had a wonderful Christmas, but were brought down to earth before NYr - poor FIL was involved in a traffic accident where a 16yo boy was killed. Awful. FIL is a totally careful driver, and would never do anything like drink and drive, but he is 77. So the papers are saying he is too old... and he has to live with the poor boy on his conscience. Please send any good thoughts to Denmark if you have any to spare.

lots of love
Tickle

lyra41 · 07/01/2008 10:02

Hi Lisa

will pray for you and your surgery. I'm sure it will go well, especially as your surgeon sounds so experienced. As Tickle says, it is great to be doing something so positive, and you can really look forward to being slimmer and more healthy. I'm on the weight loss trail too, I am determined this time and so far I have lost 3lb, so i'm pleased with that. Do you still use your video baby monitor? I remember you got one when Lola was born. I'd love to be able to watch Alex when he sleeps and was wondering if you still use yours much? I might get one second hand if you can recommend them?

Tickle

so sorry to hear about your fil's accident. it must be such a blow to his confidence. I will pray for him too. is he going to continue to drive or has it put him off?
we are all back to school and work this am. Dh has started his new job, which involved leaving the house at 7am , and without him taking Alex to my mum, it meant I had to be out of the house at 7.30 too. It was the foulest weather in the world too - dark, pouring with rain and very windy. we're all used to sleeping until at least 8.30 every day, so I think it'll be early nights all round tonight....
Dh's new job is 4 days a week for the first month, then full time for 3 months. the contract will be reviewed after 3 months, and if he likes it (and they like him), he may stay longer. it was just such a relief that he found work so quickly, and we feel that contracts will be fairly easy to find in the future, so that all helps.
Happy New Year to you and yours, Lyra xxxx

ForcesSweetheart · 07/01/2008 22:20

Lyra, we haven't used ours since Lola was weeks old - largely because there were so many signals bouncing around the house between the wireless router - TV sender - etc that they all interfered with each other. If you wanna CAT me with your postal address I'll dig it out and send you it. If you can get some use of it then that's better than it sitting there doing nothing.

lyra41 · 09/01/2008 13:01

Oh Wow Lis, that would be fab. Could you email me at juliethroup at hotmail dot co dot uk and I'll email my postal address back.

Twitmonster · 09/01/2008 13:04

HI!

I am a REAlly late late comer, I hope you don't mind if I tag along, I have 3 ds's and a dd, who is the January 2006 child, she was born on the 2nd, so is already 2

Tickle · 09/01/2008 21:12

Hi Twitmonster! Welcome and congrats on dd's 2nd bday My youngest will turn 2 on Sat

(note to self... get round to inviting grandparents etc over for tea - not a good start to my super-organised 2008!!)

Just been online putting our family profile on aupairworld dot com - we need an au pair to help for our busy 3 months in the summer. It worked really well last year, so let's hope...

Chuffed · 10/01/2008 08:36

Welcome Twitmonster.

Lisa I really hope your surgery went well and you see some great benefits from it.

Tickle, so sorry about your FIL's accident. Having to live with that will be hard enough but if he is OK to drive then he should be able to keep going. Maybe just within a more restricted area that he knows really well maybe. Get him out in the car with an instructor just to see what they think of his reflexes etc and give their opinion.

Well to add to all my troubles I was back in hospital again over the past two days as my wound got infected and they have had to open up more than half of it and pack it and try to get it to drain etc. It was nice to lie around and read for two days but ahhhhhhh it seems like a real run of making this pregnancy a bit more difficult that is for sure.

How are all the parties going? Isn't it scary how grown up and independent they are getting.

lyra41 · 10/01/2008 08:46

Hi Twitmonster

Wacky name eh! How did you come up with that? Welcome to our thread, hope you'll enjoy our company. Just off for brek, back later.

Tickle · 10/01/2008 19:35

Ooh Chuffed - you poor thing. Hope your wound is healing nicely now. At least after all this just having triplets will seem like a breeze

Thanks for the kind thoughts re FIL. It really wasn't his fault - if he had been given the chance to see the guy I'm sure his reactions would have been fine - apparently it is an accident blackspot, with 3 pedestrians involved in accidents in the last year, on the same stretch of road.

It has made me a bit jittery about letting dd1 and ds2 cycle to school - even though it is less than 1km and a very quiet road. I just have to remind myself that it was a freak accident, and that if I wrap them in cotton wool they will probably only find a way to set fire to themselves

Starting to plan Theo's cake now... I see a chocolate cake with various farm implements arranged over the top..!

love

By the way - Winchester hospital was in the news recently over those poor new mums who contracted Strep A infections

The same thing happened to Ben Palmer's wife, Jessica. Ben is related to my stepmother (either cousin or nephew - can't remember ) - and he set up Jessica's Trust in her memory to warn others of this treatable infection.

So please all look at www.jessicastrust.org.uk/ and point other mums-to-be in the same direction.

Thanks

Well that was rather a long breakfast, i know, but in the meantime Alex has been rather ill with a high temp so I've not had chance to come back on. He's sleeping now (wish I was!) after a rather fraught night at A&E when his temp went up to 40 and he'd hardly peed at all yesterday. I was convinced he had a urine infection, but he seems to have settled now and is responding well to calpol and ibuprofen. I so hope he's better for his party tomorrow, as he and Theo share their birthdays. His cake is also being planned Tickle, a green number two (sounds a bit grisly, but you know what I mean) as I want to keep it simple. Green's one of the colours he can name too. I'm sure he'd prefer a blue Iggle Piggle cake, but he'll have to have that another time as I'm a bit pushed for time. I still have to shop for the ingredients, so I'm hoping he'll be feeling much better when he wakes up and we can have a walk to the village for butter sugar eggs and flour and some party food.

Happy Birthday to all the other babes, hope you have lovely celebrations and not too many huge plastic toys (!). I felt I had to specify no toys for Alex this year, as it feels like the cupboards are overflowing with Christmas gifts and various handme down toys AND I've had a clear out. I've bought him v practical wellies (size 8!) and a matching raincoat with a lion on them. very cute.

A awake now, time for more calpol. x

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 11/01/2008 12:33

Hi Ladies

Have missed loads and loads of stuff and am valiantly trying to catch up. Just wanted to wish all of our LO Happy 2nd Bithday!!!!! Libs was 2 yeaterday but we're having small famiy tea party on Sunday to celebrtae. She's the most adorable little madam and I love her to peices (even when she throws herself face down on floor in mega strop!)

Hello to everyone. Belated happy new year to you all. Hugs and kisses to those that need them and hearty cheers to those that have survived 2007 unscathed. Anyone?!

Loads happening with the building work. Up to ears in it. But loving, loving, loving it.

Oh and took first rock climbing lesson yesterday night. Was nimble as a mountain goat. Ahem! Managed to get to top 3 times but ache like a b%stard today. Need to pass test next week then can take Moo who has been pestering me for ages to go rock climbing. The things we do for our kids. Sheesh. .

Good to hear birthday celebrations are planned and ready to go.

I have updated my photos on the profile page if anyone wants to see my triplet bump/kids etc.

No Wellies needed here at the moment the weather is gorgeous

Tickle · 12/01/2008 21:27

Awww Chuffed - that's a lovely bump you've got there! Looks like it's defying gravity beautifully, considering you're cooking 3 in there Lovely photos of the dcs too - your ds looks about as cheeky as mine!

you might want to change the caption of DS on xmas day??

Hi Georgie! We're building too (well, still knocking down to be precise) but hopeful! Exciting isn't it?

Celebrated Theo's 2nd today - he got all the wheeled implements he could wish for - and thankfully no sirens on any of them

Off to curl up infront of Morse. Night night

Chuffed · 15/01/2008 06:54

sure ds appreciates me changing that.

Don't you love all those wheeled things. ds makes choo choos out of everything. (glitter containers when doing crafts)

Happy birthday Theo!

Chuffed · 15/01/2008 06:54

sure ds appreciates me changing that.

Happy birthday Theo!

lyra41 · 16/01/2008 18:56

aaargh! Alex is at the whiney stage now, so much better, but soooooo wearing! Sorry to moan, but I've had my fill of that high pitched whine that reminds me of when he was a newborn and had tummy ache. dh is valiently bathing him upstairs, and the "want mummy cuddle"'s have just about stopped, but I'll have to go and put him to bed soon. I feel so cruel and heartless, and I adore him also to bits, but you know what I mean....

he's come down to find me now, so see y'all later.

oh dd is ill also, plus Mum, plus my ch minder. i wonder why i feel stressed???!!

Tickle · 18/01/2008 13:18

lyra - know just what you mean! Theo had a phase a couple of weeks back where we couldn't look at him without him getting in a strop, then he would get angry at dh and want me, then the other way round. Thankfully much better now! Hope Alex has come round a bit now, and that everyone gets better soon!

xx

Tickle · 21/01/2008 11:31

ForcesSweetheart - just realised your surgery is coming up on Thursday - so you must be feeling a bit queasy now (I know I would!)

Sending lots of , and hoping it all goes smoothly for you

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 21/01/2008 13:29

Same in this house ladies. Libby is the stroppiest madam at the moment. We've hit the terrible two's with a vengence. Everything is 'no'. And the she wags her finger at you at the same time. Feel like I'm the naughtly little girl half the time. Plus she told her father to 'stay' the other night. Laughed so much . Much easier 2nd time around though. Just step over her when she's thtown herself on floor. Heartless beast that I am!

ForcesSweetheart - good luck for your op. Lots of arnica before you go in to help the healing process.

How's everyone else? Surviving wet, windy, rainy, grey England? Well, everyone apart from Chuffed!!!

Booked our summer hols last week. Off to Turkey with Sunsail for 2 weeks. Crash dieting already and making myself sick with vibrations from going on the Power Plates at the gym. God those thing make your teeth rattle if you stand on them the wrong way!!!

Tickle · 21/01/2008 18:41

Ooh are you going to Perili Georgie? Went with dd1 and ds1 when they were 2 and 6mths respectively

Poor Theo sick today - threw up last night - dh had to deal with it as I was at the cinema ( ) and has a raging temp today (Theo, not dh!) Like dd1, refuses to take calpol - throws himself into hysterics if bring the bottle out

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 21/01/2008 21:26

Yeah we are Tickle. Can't wait. Looks fab. And kids clubs for Moo and Libs . Did you have a good time there?

Hope Theo better. This house would collapse if DD's didn't take Calpol . Infact my two are Calpol junkies!!! They salivate at mouth when they see bottle.

Been looking at fabrics and wallpapers on line this evening. OMG, my house will look fantastic dahhhhling!!!! Or like an explosion in colour blind paint factory if I cock it up.....

Tickle · 22/01/2008 12:01

Yes had a fab time! The houses are really nice and all different - ours had a fab view. Played some tennis and swam lots - staff lovely, food great. DH was a bit frustrated by the sailing area - he kept getting into trouble for taking catamarans out of sight!! but that's just him

It's quite a long twisty transfer, so would recommend some anti-sickness tabs for littlies if they tend to get carsick - we didn't and dd1 had a bit of a rough ride.

We are dying to get cracking on our house, but have had a depressing morning looking at finances. We moved here for a low income/outgoing lifestyle, but still seem to be spending more than we are earning Earning opportunities are not that great, and the summer season is really very short. But the plus sides are that it is beautiful and we don't have to commute anywhere (unless you count cycling 2km into a nature reserve to go to work) I'm sure we'll work it out, but I was looking forward to picking fabrics some time this decade!

Plus, our Cornish cottage is still not signed (Cheltenham & Glouc still haven't given our buyers go ahead on mortgage) and we keep looking at news on the UK economy and praying that the sale does actually go through. The exchange rate has already dropped to our dismay - we stand to lose 10 or 20k on transferring the money over, compared to what we would have got in the summer

Theo still ill, so I'm indoors on the first sunny day in weeks. Can you tell I'm feeling a bit frustrated?

Hope everyone's day is going better than mine!

sweetkitty · 25/01/2008 22:02

hi all just catching up as being all nostaglic as it is Talia's birthday tomorrow, I know we brought up the rear of the thread I thought she would never come out. Cannot believe my baby is 2 but too. I don't think she believes she is 2 either, she is 3 1/2 like her sister and noone will tell her otherwise. Her speech is scary, I know everyone says it about their child but she is so fluent I remember A at 2 and she could hardly say a few sentences. Talia knows all her colours, can count to 10, knows the words to loads of songs etc I think it's A pulling her along with her so fast. Maybe I am guilty of treating them like twins sometimes as well. She's a total tomboy though, she just sparkles and is very happy and content until something doesn't go her way then all hell breaks lose. She is also very violent, her poor sister sometimes just runs away from her. I am actually dreading the terrible two's.

Well thats my boast about my lovely 2 year old baby over. I am doing well, am 16 weeks now, had a scan and all is well with baby no3. Have no inkling either way what I am having maybe another girl I don't know.

chuffed - wow you have been through it I hope you are all recovered now, your bump looks so tiny and neat for 3 too, I think I'm about that size now with just the one. Your kids look adorable as well.

forcessweetheart - I hope you are recovering well from your op. Also hope that the lovely Lola gets a wee brother or sister this year as well.

Georgie - hey there how are you doing? Are you back on the madness of the ttc bandwagon yet? Am of you booking your summer hol, don't think we will be going anywhere far this year with the arrival of no3 in July.

hello to tickle, lyra, rach and anyone else I have missed out, hope all your babies had lovely 2nd birthdays.
