Tickle · 20/12/2008 19:27

hi folks

Well I got the job! I start properly after Christmas, on 2-3 days a week, but I have been in for a few days already to get the know the lay of the land. And I'm booked in for a conference in Barcelona at the end of Jan! I've ordered a couple of books from the library on corporate branding, as that is what I'll be doing. Aaagh!

Theo had his last day yesterday with his lovely childminder (sniff) as he starts at the same kindergarten as Clemmie in the new year. Weird to think that they are all almost 3!

It was the first day of hols for the kids today... the Christmas break in Denmark is pretty short. We're looking forward to relaxing and eating a lot. So I might be a diet buddy in 09 Lyra

Lots of love to all
T

Was just thinking about this thread tonight as our LOs are turning 3, I think Talia was one of the last to have a birthday as she was so stubborn and refused to come out.

She still is a complate law unto herself, a total tomyboy (for Christmas she asked for a big green Hulk and a Wall.e) I kid you not. The tantrums have not calmed down at all, I hope by 3 ish she will start to mellow a little. She is very one way or the other, she is very smart, funny and loving but the flipside is she has terrible tantrums when she doesn't get her own way. Am choosing DD1 school next week (sob) and it's funny as I will be doing the same for T this time next year as she will start when she is 4 1/2 and be one of the youngest in her year (scotland) she goes to nursery 3 mornings a week now and will go 5 after Easter.

She utterly dotes on Bethany no hint of jealously in fact she is obsessed with her bad very protective of her another child cannot get close to her.

3 is hard, Bethany following in T's footsteps on the lack of sleep front I'm afraid and it's hard juggling all their needs but I adore having my girls gang.

I hope everyone else and their 3 year olds are doing fine.

Iris - I think I missed you being pregnant again, you are worse than me hope all is going well and you are managing to rest (ha ha ha ha)

tickle - congrats on your job too

chuffed - glad you are all doing well, must be so chaotic in your house, triplets coming up to their first birthday too

Forcessweetheart/Lisa - had a nose at your pictures you look fab, and is that you ttc, will keep a look out for your BFP

Georgie - just searched for your name and found out your pregnant with no3, congratulations

iris66 · 12/01/2009 21:31

Sweetkitty - you're supposed to say that 3 is no different than 2 and that you're finding it a breeze!!! - and resting?!!- well you know how it goes don't you Dom's in the middle of a delightful tantrum phase - wont get dressed/share/eat unless it is on his terms and, despite the almost constant scrapping over toys, he adores Elliot and there's loads of hugs and kisses.
He's having a little get together for his birthday. He used to love dinosaurs so that's the theme - unfortunately he announced yesterday that they scare him so I'm going to have to do something cuddly and friendly with it all .

Georgie - Huge congratulations - looks like we're due within days of each other again! I'm so pleased for you and hope you're all ok.

Tickle - how's the job going? What is it that you're doing (obviously missed something somewhere - sorry) Are you all set and excited about Barcelona?

Lyra - hope you're ok and that you & yours had a peaceful Christmas

It only seems like yesterday that we all started chatting about our bumps doesn't it and now they're nearly 3! Time certainly flies. I've already said to DH that I want "but I haven't finished yet" on my headstone. Life is so short - but it's certainly full of fun!

Wishing all our teriffic and terrible threes a happy happy birthday and a fabby fourth year!!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 13/01/2009 11:12

Ah, I've found you. Wow, lots been going on.
Lovely to catch up with all your news.

Iris That's so weird that we're due so close together. This is def the last for me. Two miscarriages and a year of TTC was really stressful. Then we got a really bad nuchal result (1 in 38) and had the week from hell until we managed to get another scan at the Fetal Med Cen in London. They readjusted to 1 in 786. Phew. Three is enough for me! Best of luck for this pg. Bet you end up having another boy and I end up having another girl . Are you going to find out the flavour?

Kitty Don't tell me that 3 is hard!!! Must be lovely to have your girl posse around you. Are you done now? Think I read somewhere that you're broody for No4?!?! Brave woman.

Sounds as if all our 3 year old are acting exactly the same. Libby is a law unto herself. Wee divil! Although it's easier for me to discipline her as I don't want to make the same mistakes I made with Mollie. Libby starts the nursery attached to M's school in April. She can't wait to go.

And we're STILL not finished with the building work . Build started April 08. Supposed to be finished Jan 09. Now looking at sacking the builders as they are at least 12 weeks behind schedule and we're about £30k over budget. It's incredibly stressful. But keep thinking it will be worth it in the end.

I was in hospital yesterday getting my cervical stitch put in. We opted to go privately this time. And guess what? Not pre-term contractions! Hooray. Very civilised.

Chuffed How are the triplets? Still can't beleive that your amazing body carried 3 babies all at once.

Tickle Hope the new job goes well. I'm thinking about going bck to school to re-train in 18 months time when I hit 40. Eek. Have told DH that I need to do something other than raise kids! He's very supportive. We'll see if I end up putting my money where my mouth is!

Hope every one else is good, Lyra, Rach, Lisa.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our lovely 3 year olds.

sweetkitty · 14/01/2009 16:34

Glad your both doing well georgie and Iris 3 is hard but going from 2 to 3 has been easier than 1 to 2 or indeed 0 to 1 does that help at all?

OP posts:
iris66 · 16/01/2009 14:14

Sweetkitty - yes! thanks
Georgie - this one's definately my last too. DH is going for his vasectomy next month - finally and 6 children between us is pretty much stretching it IMO. We're both resigned to being for the rest of our days but, hey - it's all in a good cause.

lyra41 · 27/01/2009 21:18

Iris

resigned to being what? i'm probably being a bit dim, but that didn't make much sense to me.

Hiya all

things going well this end. potty training is almost in the bag (as it were), Alex is doing really well, but still has an average of one accident a day, which i can cope with, often after 5pm when he's a bit whacked.

I'm enjoying doing a bit of speech and language therapy work here and there, just to fit in with alex's time in playgroup or at nana's. i have quite a varied caseload so far, an adult wanting elocution, a 9 y 0 with ASD and a 74 year old, who's 2 years post stroke. Keeps me on my toes, and the extra cash is handy. i love not feeling under time pressure, especially in the mornings.

my get fit & slimmer drive is going slowly. 2lb only off since Jan 1st, I'm just really struggling to eat less. I just love my food and adore cooking, but I have to put my health first i guess.

kids home, more later. x

iris66 · 28/01/2009 06:36

Lyra - oops I meant to write "resigned to being skint" sorry for the confusion.

Glad you've got Alex potty trained. Dom's incredibly stubborn and keeps asserting that he's not wearing pants so I've introduced a star chart for almost everything but wearing pants. He's responded well to it and, now DH is back from a long trip away (and therefore he's more settled - and I get some help!)we're banning nappies during the day from Thursday. I've got some treats/bribes for him too so I'm just hoping it'll work relatively quickly How long did it take Alex?

Still no sign of diabetes here (thankfully - and fingers crossed) and LO seems to be contentedly progressing well. He/she's not nearly so active as the boys were at this stage so I'm wondering whether it's a girl.

DS2 climbs absolutely everything and is starting to give Dom as good as he gets but they're both so good natured I'm hoping things wont progress to constant scrapping as they get older. Having boys is certainly an eye opener after they years of exclusive girliness!
Hope everyone else is well.

lyra41 · 28/01/2009 14:09

iris

it's been quite a long haul with potty training. i think he just wasn't ready when i tried before, but we started this time on Jan 1st and it took about a week before he started asking himself. he too has been v. stubborn, refusing to "have a try" but a combination of one smartie for a wee, 2 for a poo and me offerring him the naughty step if he won't have a try seems to have worked. now i don't give a sweetie every time he succeeds, but he often needs a reward to encourage him to wash his hands afterwards as he's not so keen to do that. he still sits to pee, standing up seems too tricky somehow. he's also really liked the sticker chart for each success, but needed the sweeties also, cheeky monkey!! i think he'd have still been in nappies age 7 if i hadn't insisted!

it's a bit damp and grotty here in M/cr, but i'm gardening so that should warm me up. alex is at mum's so i'd better make the most of my free time.

see y'all later. x

Chuffed · 02/02/2009 02:03

Alls good at our end. The babies are all moving around, ds is stubborn too. We missed out on the 'terrible two's really but I think we have the 3's to contend with, everything is a negotiation.
Toilet training I just did cold turkey, he cried as he didn't want to give up the nappies. Did great with rewards, cheeky monkey could part pee straight away so he would go a little wee about every 15mins just to stay supplied in marshmallows. We did a stamp chart (5 stamps and he got to keep the stamp). He got a stamp for an accident free day. It seemed to have worked really well. Not too stressful at all. We sit backwards on the toilet, facing the seat. This means he can't fall in, don't need a special seat and no pee flies through the gap between seat and toilet. We also got some aiming stickers and they have been good too.
Understand the building stuff HTGG, our work took almost 6mths longer than necessary.
How many pounds to go Lyra. I have been slowly working on it but it has decreased a bit over summer when icecreams etc have taken over a bit. Will add a pic of the children taken before Christmas too if anybody wants to have a gander.

ForcesSweetheart · 06/02/2009 01:15

Hiya everyone
Hope you're all doing well. Can't believe our wee angels are all 3 now!
Iris and Lyra, I have to say I don't envy you trying to potty train boys. From what I've seen they're so much more challenging than girls.
Really glad the diabetes is staying away Iris. My type 2 has almost disappeared in the year since my weight loss surgery, but they've told me it'll probably flare up again during any future pregnancies.

Georgie at £30k over budget. I'd be having a breakdown! What are you thinking of re-training in?

Lola's a right little madam, her speech/thought processes astound me every day. She's desperate for a baby sister, and I've explained to her that mummy and daddy are trying to get her one! Of course this led to her wanting a full explanation of exactly how we were going to try! I explained that daddy would put a seed in mummys tummy, and if the seed grew it would become a baby brother or sister, but if it didn't we would just have to try again. So for several months now she's been obsessing over this seed and whether it was growing or not. A couple of months ago she took Andy's face in her hands and looked right into his eyes and said "daddy please can you put a seed in mummys tummy so I can have a baby sister girl". Today out of the blue she asked me "how does daddy put the seed in your tummy?" I took a leaf out of my "how to talk so children will listen" bible and replied "How do you think he puts it in?". She replied, "I think he cuts a little hole and puts it in. Can I help daddy put the seed in?" Cue 5 minutes of trying to explain to her that only daddy can do that job. I now have this fear that she's going to come at my tummy with a knife and try to help daddy by cutting a little hole! Must double-check the childproofing on the cutlery drawer.
I've now lost almost 7 and a half stone since my surgery, nearly 9 and a half since just after Lola was born (I think theres pics on my profile), so I'm hoping if I'm lucky enough to get pregnant again it'll be an easier pregnancy.
Hope everyone else is doing OK. Lis xxx

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 21/04/2009 20:01

Iris Got your message on the other thread. Sorry, not ignoring you, actually very busy with the house. Which considering it's taken 3 years to get to this point is a bloody miracle!! Just enjoying the fun part - paint, wallpaper, floorings, kitchen etc etc.

Anyway, mobile is 07967 646953. We'll have to compare notes on our No3's!!

I know this one is another girl. Really pleased actually as it's just simpler all round.

I will post more later, but bloody starving and must eat RIGHT now otherwise I'll be a grumpy cow . xx

iris66 · 23/04/2009 15:28

Thanks Georgie hope you manage to get eveything done before she arrives

Our poor thread's got tumbleweed blowing through it I'll be back later for a chat to encourage everyone back (or kill the thread completely

Chuffed · 04/06/2009 09:16

Haven't been on mumsnet for ages...life is just slightly busy.
dd1 has started school and my mornings are awful trying to get all 5 into the car and out the door.
2 of the girls are now walking - I can't believe they are now 14mths and real little girls with their own personalities for sure.
ds is struggling with his big sister being at school and told me today that he doesn't like my job and when I asked him what my job was he started listing off washing, washing, more washing, feeding, tidying. I feel a bit bad now that the girls aren't sleeping as much ds is missing out in having time with me.
We sold our house and had a month between when we had to move out and when we could move into our rental so after staying with family for 2 of those weeks all 7 of us trooped off to Phuket for 15nights. It was fantastic we had a great time although it would have been easier to have seats for all the girls not just 1. Us poor adults didn't get a break with a baby each.
Now that it is winter here dd and ds have been asking us most days when we are going back to Thailand. We wish, no washing, cooking, cleaning, 2 parents to share the load 24/7.
Congrats on so much weight loss Lis I hope there is some good news coming for you.
Georgie is the house all finished now?
How is everybody? Any news?

sweetkitty · 04/08/2009 22:45

Hello everyone just searching for this thread and seeing how everyone is doing.

Georgie - I believe congratulations are in order, saw your name on another thread, do come and tell us all about your new DD3

Chuffed - glad you are doing well, I cannot imagine having 5 and triplets too, great fun but hard I imagine and they are all on the move by now too. Thailand sounds fab you are a brave woman

Iris - how are things with you these days?

Lisa - you looks AMAZING well done you, any news on the TTC front missus?

Lyra and Rach - where are you two as well?

OP posts:
ForcesSweetheart · 21/08/2009 17:52

OMG SK. I Just got the faintest of positive's on an early PT. Cross everything for me girls.
Lis x

iris66 · 22/08/2009 21:13

oooooooooooooooooooh Forcessweetheart keeping everything crossed for you

Chuffed - Phuket?!! - wow what an expedition with 7 of you! And I'm worrying about going to boring Cornwall

Georgie - how are things going with your three gorgeous girls?

Sweetkitty - We're all fine thanks (though I could do with a couple of extra hours in the day to try to catch up with everything I can't do - how do you cope?!). Niamh is permanently covered in drool from the boys' kisses - they adore her. Dominic keeps trying to pick her up though which is a bit worrying. Elliot just says "there, there Neeb" it's so sweet. She's practising to be Cinderella though. It's all feeding/winding from 6 until midnight just lately but then she conks out until about 4 - not bad for 7 weeks I think.

Lyra/ Wherethewildthingsare - you still drifting about?

wherethewildthingsare · 12/04/2011 20:36

I don't know what made me come on here tonight - haven't looked for years probably... don't know where the time has gone? I think it was an ex-colleague bringing her baby in to work made me a little nostalgic!

Anyway Finn is 5 now and in reception, as are all your babes!

Is anyone out there?!!!

Rach xxx:)

iris66 · 12/04/2011 22:35
