Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 06/11/2007 17:57

Hello. Thanks for all your lovely messages. Everything kind of went well on Friday apart from the doc thinking tha he'd perforated my womb so had to stay in over night which i didn't want. I think when they say perforate they really mean graze. Worst thing is the bloody antibiotics they have given me. They are too strong and are making me vomit, have chronic trapped wind and generally feel 100% worse than I did.

Have got some acidopholis (sp) and some Windeze .

feel pretty pants it has to be said. V tearful (hormones going wild) and getting angry that it had to happen to me again. I know I'll be OK, its still very raw at the moment.

DH is being a god. I don't know what I'd do without him. He's amazing. Very protective of me at the moment. Which is lovely and just what I need.

Just wanted to say HUGE congrats to you SK. brilliant, brilliant news. Like you I'm just waiting for a couple of month for my periods to regulate and then we're back at it with a vengance! I so hope that this works out for you. Shed loads of baby glue coming your way.

Iris - you sound remarkably chirpy. This baby lark obviously suits you. Are you tired or still on the post-birth high?

Chuffed - Obviously the baby glue worked with you. How you feeling? 3 x hormones. Ugh. I'd have head down loo 24/7. Are you excited or completely petrified?

Hope everyone else well. Am neglecting kids so better make sure they aren't ransacking the lounge. Little buggers!

Chuffed · 06/11/2007 21:05

Damn I just lost my big long post.

Iris you sound very non sleep deprived. Are you sure that you won't need those vests for another child? If not then email me on that address - that would be great.

Georgie - glad that you are out of hospital and dh is being brilliant. Haven't been head down loo (thank goodness) but am still a bit miserable in the evenings even though I am over 12wks. I had a late night last night as I went to a playcentre meeting and woke up this morning with a cold. It seems what would normally make me feel a bit tired hits me like a ton of bricks at the moment. I'm sick of feeling 'miserable'.
We are excited more than petrified. I think sometimes ignorance is bliss and I'm just trying to stay positive, not a lot we can do now. We'll cope somehow and there will heaps of positives to look forward to when they are older.
A couple of friends are from big families and one said his mum never cleaned or cooked as the kids all had nights and rooms and she just 'managed'. Sounds all right to me .

lyra41 · 06/11/2007 22:18

georgie

so sorry to hear about your loss. thinking of you. glad you're getting pampered tho' - just what you need.

my op was a complete success, so yes iris, i am the proud owner of a bionic pelvic floor! all still a bit sore though, just resting and waiting for it to heal. and i seem to have constitutionally low blood pressure, and the anaesthetic made it drop even lower, resulting in nausea and faintiness until sat, and it returns if i over do it. 2 weeks off work will be a good rest i guess.

chuffed

i must admit expecting 3 does sound fab, you're very privilidged! i hope you will have LOTS of help and support from friends and family when the babies are born. will you get state help too? do you know yet if they are girls or boys?

lyra41 · 06/11/2007 22:19

P.S. the full hollywood "wax" i got under anaesthetic before my op was a bit of a surprise, to say the least!

iris66 · 07/11/2007 19:19

Lyra - lol at your hollywood (I'd be mortified! ) The low BP sounds horrible but at leaast you've got 2 weeks off to recover and chill a bit
DD came home for a surprise visit at the weekend Dom was suitably impressed and yelled her name before launching himself at her for a hug (and there was she thinking he'd forgotten her awwww) She is pleased as punch with her new little brother and it was lovely to have my 3 babies all home together. I got some fab photos too - only downside being that they look like she's the mum of 2 little ones

Chuffed - since Elliot reached his due date he's started sleeping less and being up at night more (unfortunately) but I think the couple of weeks of decent sleep has made a massive difference and I do feel pretty chilled (at the moment - time will tell eh! ) I still can't get over the fact that you're having your 3rd,4th and 5th babies all in one go! Awesome is the only word I can think of (I've e-mailed you by the way)

Chuffed · 08/11/2007 08:01

Isn't it amazing how they do that - I was surprised when ds did that too - slept through until he reached 40wks and then was more wakeful and I have since heard of it being quite common. I think it means you cope better as you have had that rest to recover from the birth a bit.

I bet dd would have looked like an unsuitably young mum with the kids. Did you get a photo of you with them all?

I had a 2hr massage today - got a voucher in Sept from dh for my birthday and it was 'lovely'. I think we might have to 'find' some food money to pay for another couple during the pregnancy.

Catch you soon!

Chuffed · 08/11/2007 08:02

lyra glad the surgery went well. sucks having low blood pressure but hopefully it'll balance back to your normal so you can at least cope. Take it easy and make the most of the time off.

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 22:02

Georgie - thanks for the congrats I know it's hard I started ttc straight away and was pregnant the second month so feel very lucky as you say just hoping this one sticks. Losing one made us realise how much we wanted a third and our family wasn't complete, we will also feel so lucky if we do get our third.

Lyra - glad the op went well and your bionic pelvic floor hope you are managing to get some rest in your 2 weeks off

Iris - aww Elliot sounds lovely and Dom sounds so cute with him, I'm sure Talia would just hit a baby on the head with a baby Annabel she's not happy unless she's bashing something. Must have been lovely having your big girl home and I bet she is the envy of all her friends with her two little brothers.

Chuffed - brilliant news about the scan, I am totally in awe of you you seem so positive and radiant and I'm sure you will do just fine x

Not much happening here T's speech is getting so good now, she even has arguments with A, she goes "Abbie boy" and of course A goes back NO I'M A GIRL, T goes no A boy, A is screaming at the top of her voice no I'm a girl boys have a winky I have girly bits MUM she called me a BOY, meanwhile T is laughing at her. Oh what have I got to come............

OP posts:
iris66 · 09/11/2007 14:46

sweetkitty - your two sound lovely I have to say I'm not liking being on my own today with mine! DH has had to go into work today & I've been like a headless chicken. I've just strapped Dom into his pushchair in front of CBeebies in the hope that he may drop off to sleep(he's been climbing up/falling off/over everything today) and Elliot's been on one big feed fest and is very windy How did/do you cope?!

sweetkitty · 09/11/2007 14:54

Oh I remember it well Iris, T just wanted to feed feed feed, there was a lot of cbeebies watched in our house those first few months, also storytime was good whilst feeding, get about a dozen books and whilst the baby is feeding read to the toddler. Although I am remembering that A was a very cuddly baby and would be happy snuggled into my other side whilst T was feeding, now if it were T that would be a different story as she's not cuddly at all.

It does quickly get better once the baby gets out the newborn wanting to feed all the time stage, you do have to get into a bit of a routine with them more than if you just had the one to look after. Remember as well that the housework can wait don't get too stressed about the mess.

OP posts:
Chuffed · 10/11/2007 20:52

Agree completely SK. I was lucky in a way as we were at my MIL house when ds was born so there were other adults around to help amuse dd. But she did get a lot of stories and did want Mummy time too.

When no 3 arrives SK I've heard that the two older ones just hang out together and you are left to get on with things - hopeful I know but I'm living by that motto at the mo.

Oh and can I just say one more thing iris 'battery powered swing'. It was my god send for irritable baby not sitting, needing to get stuff done when tummy ache or windy and needs to move or they will just feed all day. I hired one, not sure if you can do that or if someone could lend you one but I think they rock for subsequent kids.

Have a good weekend everyone - the weather has been ripper here and we are going to play outside all day!

sweetkitty · 10/11/2007 22:59

at your weather chuffed it's freezing here

I agree with the battery swing, I bought the Fisher Price one for DD2 and it was fab, it's portable so you can carry it from room to room and DD2 would be quite happy in it watching DD1 play whilst I cooked dinner or tidied up.

you will need another 2 though chuffed

OP posts:
iris66 · 11/11/2007 20:45

I guess I'd better get a battery powered swing then But didn't your older ones "help" it swing more? we've not even got the bouncy cradle out for fear that Dom will ping Elliot out in his enthusiasm for love and kisses! Not that that's an issue at the mo as Dom's had a high temp(104)today and been really miserable with a cold My hormones have been awful too(seem to remember being very emotional until I stopped BF last time) and I keep brimming up with tears at him being poorly (feel such a saddo getting so upset - daft mare) Hopefully he'll be better tomorrow.

Lyra - Hope you're on the mend. Any plans for your skiving recuperative 2 weeks?

Georgie - hope you're feeling a bit better now too. Been thinking of you

sweetkitty · 11/11/2007 22:12

Iris - poor wee Dom hope he feels better soon, you've just had a baby course your hormonal. If you stayed closer to me I would loan you the battery powered swing, this is you only can use it for the first six months until they are sitting up so it's quite expensive to buy one new. Don't remember A ever pushing T around in it but kept having to tell her to get out of it.

Tickle · 12/11/2007 09:05

Hi girls,

just back from my trip to England...

and Georgie - I'm so sorry that your baby wasn't meant to be number 3 Hope you are feeling better now and can smile a bit. I have had mcs at similar times to you, and it is so hard - it sounds like your DH is being super wonderful and helping you through. I don't know about you, but I like to think of my little ones that didn't make it into the world as little spirit guides for the subsequent babies. Hugs to you and DH.

Congrats to you and family SK... Sending lots of sticky vibes from Denmark

Better go, but will catch up with rest later (dh has mad idea that we should go winter swimming in the sea - so we're off to try it. It is 5 degrees outside )

Txx

lyra41 · 13/11/2007 10:45

Hiya all

I'm much recovered from my tvt (aka installataion of a bionic pelvic floor, thanks iris!). I feel like a bit of a skiver now as I'm feeling so much better and my sick note gives me 2 more days off. I did get an infection in one of the wounds, but thanks to anti biotics that's pretty much sorted now. I'm going to get the stitches out at the walk in clinic at lunch time. the doctor at the hosp said they will dissolve, but i don't think they will, they're sort of stringy. anyway, enough about my bits and bobs.
as a recouperative effort and also just for fun, a girlfriend and I are off for a spa weekend in a couple of weeks time. can't wait! we got a good deal on the web, £160 each for 2 nights incl dinner, bed and brek plus 1 treatment.
Tickle
about your winter sea swimming! Did you go in? have you recovered? you're a hardier woman than me! how did your trip to the uk go? is your cornish cottage all sold and out of your hair at last?

iris

hope Dom's better from his temp by now. Alex was off colour y'day - "sore mouth" he said, so I guess teething again, and he barely ate anything, but he has such a huge appetite the rest of the time, i just let him be, he'll eat properly today.

chuffed

Extreme at your lovely weather, warm sunshine seems a long long time ago. Yesterday was frosty and clear, and very cold, I lit the fire and felt all wintry and cosy, and today's rather grey and wet.
still can't get my head round how you must feel with 3 babies in your tum, do they move a lot? or are they very squashed already?

well I must go and do some work, i have a review report to write on one of my students, shouldn't take too long. and parents evening tonight, although i'm on sick leave i can do a few things.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 13/11/2007 13:12

Iris - Bouncy chair and Baby Einstein on DVD. Life saver!

sweetkitty · 13/11/2007 15:32

Glad you are recovering Lyra

Georgie - how are you feeling now? I think as a way of coping I threw myself back into TTC as quickly as possible.

Tickle - am totally in awe of your winter swimming, I can't even face going to the swimming pool right now, I am a completel wuss I'm always cold you would think growing up in Scotland I would be hardy as well.

OP posts:
HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 14/11/2007 14:53

Hey Kitty. Funny you should ask but a big fat copy of 'Taking Charge of your Fertility' landed on the doorstep courtesy of Amazon yesterday. That should answer your question .Bit flummoxed now with base lines, temp charts and egg white mucus..... thought you just needed to pretend to be 18, get drunk and have a crap shag with someone you don't really like .

sweetkitty · 14/11/2007 18:08

Oh georgie you ain't heard nothing yet wait until your pursuing your cervix, stretching out your mucus and generally behaving like a mad woman

OP posts:
HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 15/11/2007 12:47

Great. Will look forward to that then . Read a bit last night and I'm not as ignorant as I thought. Pretty much know what she's banging on about. And I think I'm ovulating today. Which would be great news cos it means I'm getting back to normal and we can have a good bash it it in Dec. Oh how romantic am I?!?!?

Tickle - How was the swimming? Brrrrr. Gives me goosebumps on goosebumps just thinking about it. Am biggest, sofest southern jessie you could ever find. Am practically a reptile. Need warmth!

Chuffed - make me by telling me how warm and glorious it is no your side of the world. Just the thought of a warm breeze and sun on my face makes me want to jump on a plane (sod the eco warrior boll*cks) and head off to warmer climes.

We still haven't started building. Miserable witch next door has drummed up support from other wtiches on road to send in 7 letters of objection to our basement. Ugh. It's just too much.Wish she'd just buzz off on her broomstick .

What does not kill us makes us stronger. Blah blah blah! Will have last laugh when we do build horrible big extension and she's got no light in her pokey little kitchen. Cackle!

iris66 · 16/11/2007 19:54

Tickle - you are absolutely bloody barking! swimming? in the cold???! Noooooooooooo!!!! jeez it'd make yer nips fall off and mine are bad enough when it's cold with clothes on

Georgie/Sweetkitty - Thanks for the swingy chair/baby einstein advice. DVD player's not working at the mo so wall to wall CBeebies it is then (I'm not proud )

Dom's temp was only a 24hr thing thankfully but they're both bunged up with snot now (joy) and cranky too but still loveable as anything.

Lyra - I think Dom's teething too - soooooooo much dribble - but not able to articulate where it hurts yet (am impressed by Alex's ability!) Enjoy your time off

Wherethewildthingsare - where are you? ok?

Off to feed again. take care all.

lyra41 · 28/11/2007 18:32

Hoorah, it's the end of my working week! No more work for a few days. And only 3 weeks left until the hols.

Time to chill and do a bit of light Christmas shopping perhaps. I'll enjoy doing ds2's Xmas stocking this year, he'll really like opening things and I can think of quite a few things he'd like. I@m hoping to get some 'In the night garden' stuff for him, as he does enjoy watching it.

Tea is ready to go in the oven, v. exciting (not), pizza and salad tonight, quick and dirty and it'll do the job as I'm not sure what time dh is home tonight. I'll put it on when he gets back. Ds2 has had his at the childminder's and the rest of us can wait.

I went on my spa weekend last weekend and it was great. I can thoroughly recommend Risley Hall Hotel to anyone who's interested. The food was fab, the spa and treatments great, and the company was good too. Lots of sleeping and quaffing of wine went on, and lots of gossiping. I feel completely indulged now. Batteries definitely charged up for a few months!

Forces SH,

when do you have your op? I hope it goes well and works for you. Mine was a partial success I think. the stress incont is def cured, but the urge incont (when you get the urge, you've GOTTA go!) seems to have got worse, or maybe i notice it more now that the other's gone. anyone else have this?

So how's it going? All is very quiet on here. I keep popping in, but I don't want to do ALL the posting! So I just lurk a bit.

I wonder how loomer's doing and if she's thinking of ttc lo2 yet, or maybe even pg.

iris,

how are things with 2 babies in the house? Or does Dom seem very grown up now you have a newborn to compare him to? hope you're keeping well.

georgie

how are you and the girls doing? hope ttc is going well, all that bd must be fun. still not quite 'back in the saddle' after my op, but looking forward to it I think.

dh home now, so see you later.

Chuffed · 29/11/2007 07:40

Def have the urge thing going on. I noticed it decreased when they sorted my hormone levels out a bit. I think mine had something to do with the early menopause thing kicking in.

Oh presents won't that be fun. As ds is a bit older and born on Christmas day we had his birthday party on Sunday with about 9 other kids around and they ate and ate and played a bit. He really got excited about the presents when it was time to open them and understood they were his.

His favourite present was: fisher-price geo trax
Our set up is smallish but it has a remote control train that can be just pushed as well. He has played with it every day I think it will be added to for Christmas now.

Not a lot of other news, definately growing at a rate.

barrelrider · 29/11/2007 12:45

Hi girls

Not been on for ages - how is everyone? There looks to have been a lot going on.

Georgie I'm so sorry, are you alright? I hope you feel better soon. Look after yourself and get a lovely christmas planned with loads of pampering.

Congratulations to you Sweetkitty How's it going?

Iris massive congratulations and welcome to Elliot! Well done you You sound like you've totally taken it in your stride too.

Chuffed wow, 3 How are you feeling?

Well I think* I might be expecting again. I've not done a test and my period isn't even due til tomorrow but I have loads of symptoms (purply boobs, wicked heartburn, freezing cold, tired, dizzy, a bit sick, hair falling out) - OK some of these might be symptoms of something else ! - but I just FEEL pregnant. Weird. I must be mad because I was so hopeful last time and that ended in an ectopic but I feel so positive this time. And last time I didn't feel sick or have any symptoms so maybe that's the difference. My dh is cautiously over the moon - with Dominic there was lots of stress because I have a clotting disorder and the doctors kept putting the wind up me about risks, stillbirths etc - but I'm refusing to have another stressful 9 months. Better to deal with the worst when it happens.

Not heard from lilstarry1 for a while, are you out there?

Love to all
