Been on/off since 2.45am Sad Kill me now!!

Mixture of snot, being cold, maybe teething and dare I say sleep regression too. The little minx tempted us with some beautiful nights sleeps, 5 HR chunks for about a week then BOOM! Decides she's hates grobags so gets cold often and that nighttime sleep shouldn't occur in more than 3hr blocks. I can actually feel my eyes getting darker and baggier...

Anyone else not using a sleeping bag? I'm thinking of trying a fleece bodysuit as she keeps kicking off blankets too. Just worried about that to put on underneath her, but a fleece suit will be similar to a permanent fleece blanket right, so vest and babygro?!

How long will it be until she sleeps properly again?! I know regressions 'should' be a good thing as it means she's harnessing a big old skill but my goodness I really need some zzzzz's!!

Well done to all you mummas who've nailed sleeping. You rock! And for those of us with matchsticks propping our eyes open tomorrow - another shot?! Wink

Mugabe all

Oh mzzzf poor you - not a good night. DD full of snot as is toddler - both in my bed - sound like snuffling little piggies all night. DH came home from work last night saying he had an awful cold and sniffed and moaned for rest of evening - took himself off to spare room and still moaning this morning that he didn't sleep well - we have a jacuzzi/steam room so he spent forever in there and is now off to work - I have just gritted my teeth as I HAVEN'T SLEPT PROPERLY FOR 13 YEARS (age of eldest!!). My DH does not understand the relentless non-stop of looking after children - he still thinks after all these years that I have an easy life being at home all day - no hope of changing him now, but doesn't stop me having a moan now and again!!

giraffe your story was not at all depressing - sounds like a love story to me

rrra what is the squat and crunch challenge?? Sounds like I could do with that! Try to get on xtrainer every morning - did 15 mins this morning - then DD starts to cry - better than nothing I guess.

DD slept beautifully yesterday afternoon although I think she is about to outgrow the Moses basket - don't know where I will put her in daytime when she does?? Toddler slept too and I managed to wrap lots of Xmas presents - I love Xmas and am now starting to feel excited - with 6 DC this year it is going to be even more magical than ever[santa]

DS has gone back to 4-hour chunks of sleep tonight. Not complaining but I'm baffled by his inconsistency. There is just no pattern whatsoever.

I foolishly stayed up and watched Catastrophe and spent some quality time with DP so missed most of the first four hours, booo.

Yes please to pancakes. Don't think I've had any since pancake day. Could murder some American stylee ones with maple syrup. Yum.

Flowers for those having a hard time with Hs and Ps. Thanks for the positive story Giraffes - glad it worked out for you. As others have said it's such a testing time, people did warn me but like so many baby related things you just can't imagine it until it happens.

DS is so keen to have his fingers in his mouth that he keeps pushing my nip out to get them in, then getting frustrated that there's no milk. I'm gonna have to hold his hand to stop him so better sign off.

Definitely a coffee and chocolate day I reckon, Mugabes all round.

sianihedgehog · 11/11/2015 07:17

Okay, fuck last night. :( DS has slept about 3h total all night, and all of it with me lying with my top half in the cot cuddling him, and I've got DPs stinking sore throat and cold and feel very very sorry for myself. Does Mugabe Nights do hot toddies?

Tindel · 11/11/2015 07:58

Morning all! Had my first night out since J arrived. I drove, so stuck to lime and soda, checked my phone constantly and came back a bit early. To find that J had been fab for DH - a few trips upstairs to replace the dummy when he squawked, but slept until almost 1am for his first feed. Typical. We have our NCT reunion tonight, so will be completely out of sync, so expecting a bad night

Mzzf I know someone who tucked a blanket round the baby and then draped it over the top of the Moses basket, as her little one hated being swaddled and kicked off blankets. That might work?

randomsabreuse · 11/11/2015 08:19

Clstow - my DD does that! Including the frustration. Didn't get back to sleep (me) after 3.30 nappy explosion, fortunately DD did. DH off to meeting with bacon and bread for the team, I have dog to walk before HVs. Already on 3rd nappy - all pooey!

Dozygirl · 11/11/2015 08:29

Giraffes thats a really great story. Good to hear that u speed out in the end and nw have 2 dc.

Poo nappies overnight are the wors . Luckily my dd generally goes in the evening time. She's due one soon. Haven't had one since Saturday. I'm back to trying to use up a pack of disposables that I'd been given before she grows out of them so not used my cloth nappies for a week. Her poos are contained in cloth but not in disposables. Well done frolic on starting cloth again. I also bought a frugi outfit from the sale purely because I NEED it to fit over her cloth bum haha. Kinda excited to start putting 3-6 months clothes on because she's got so many lovely ones but she's not ready for them yet. Still too big. She's only just 3 months though.

I'm off to the Trafford Centre today to meet some of the ladies and babies from a Facebook group set up from the antenatal group. Am most excited. And of course I'll have to do some shopping otherwise there is no point going all the way to the Trafford Centre heehee.

Jabs went ok again. She cried a bit more while having to this time but she was hungry to so that didn't hel . She's been fine since. I gave her some calpol just in case.

Dp has slightly listened to me because yesterday he actually put his beer bottles in the recycling bin without me asking. Doubt he's remembered this morning but I don't know yet until I venture downstairs.

I won a connecta carrier on ebay yesterday. I thought I'd gotten a good deal initially because thought they were me expensive than they axtually are but it was still cheaper than new and the one I wanted wasn't in stock anyway so I wouldn't have been able to get it brand new. Excited to try it out. I like the close caboo but find it fiddly to put on and it doesn't sit quite right on my back so it makes the top of my back ache so I'm hoping the connecta is better. There are so many different slings to choose from that it's hard to just choose one.

Dd1 had grey eyes til about 8 months and now they are dark brown like mine. Not sure about dd2. She's very gingery and fair so her eyes could be blue like her daddy's. I vaguely remember my sister's didn't settle til she was 3 or 4.

We co sleep so don't use grobags. I put a shawl over her for when she's not in our bed. The bedroom is warm. I'm not too worried. A friend of mine swears by loads of layers though. She reckons her wee boy gets really cold and that's why he wasn't sleeping. She has him in vest, tights, babygro, SwaddleUp bag and two blankets. I think he wasn't sleeping because babies are gits but there we are.

We were supposed to be going up to the Isle of Lewis this weekend but hurricane Abigail looks like it might put paid to our plans. Need to ring Calmac later and see what they say but it's 50mph winds forecast so doubt the ferry will sail. I think my folks are going to be so disappointed.

I think we might be having a growth spurt here. What a lot of feeding! Think I might use my feeding on the sofa time wisely and watch this Catastrophe programme folk have spoken of.

Dozygirl · 11/11/2015 08:37

Mzzf do u not want to use sleeping bags? I find they make life so much easier.

Just purchased an amber bracelet for dd ready for teething setting in. She's drools a lot and sucks on her hand but don't think it's down to teething yet but I want to be prepared. I've put it on her ankle.

I've done a full 48 hours without nipple shields. Wasn't hurting yesterday but today they bloody kil . Grrrr

Morning all! Mmmmmmmm, pancakes!
ds slept for 8 hours. I don't want to make any of you feel bad, but thought I'd share as a message of hope. He was waking a good few times in the night until 2 weeks ago. Things can change so quickly.
Talking of overnight nappies, Ds seems not to pee much at all when he's asleep. His nappy this morning was basically dry Shock. He filled the next one in an hour. Does anyone else have a baby that does this? I don't think I need to be worried as he's doing plenty of wet nappies all day and feeding like a trooper.

I have just left ds with my mum for 20 mins while I took my car to the garage. It's the first time he's been without me or dh!! PFB much?!

Slings - we have an original ergo and a Kari me wrap. I also think ds may like to face forward soon as he's such a nosy bugger. giraffes, I think we're at a similar stage with the ergo where he his a bit big with the insert but too little without. I'm also hoping for a better fit in a few months.

BrewBrewBrewCake mzzf. Fleecey baby grow sounds like a great idea if she hates gro bags and kicks off her blankets.

She is adorable loves! Is there an emoticon for being jealous of mum's of little girls purely on a clothing basis?
I love Christmas too and am starting to get a bit excited [santa]. I should really start my shopping during all the hours spent feeding.

I got our box of 3-6 clothes down the other day dozy and was disappointed that nothing fits yet! He's not 3 months until the 27th, but his legs are getting too big for what we have. 0-3 tops are going to last for ages as he's quite slight. We have loads of lovely things that I can't wait to put him in.
Enjoy your meet up at the Trafford centre. Please give my regards to people from the conception and ante natal threads that don't post here.

Happy Wednesday augmums! I am going to try to get to baby massage again - I've still not made it yet because something always happens snd I have to cancel Confused

Frolicacid · 11/11/2015 10:48

I think I've posted the link before - but this place has lots of frugi (including the dungarees) and other lovely stuff on sale at the moment.
www.babipur.co.uk

sianihedgehog · 11/11/2015 11:22

frolic it's totally normal - babies normally don't wee while in deep sleep. Fergus needs changed every hour or so if he's not sleeping, but is dry until he starts to wake when he's properly out. Some people use this as a way to start elimination communication. I can't be arsed, personally.

sianihedgehog · 11/11/2015 11:32

Anyone know what the sizing is like on the frugi stuff? Got my eye on some dungarees for DS, but not sure what size - 3-6 month stuff from M&s is still nice and roomy, but the 3-6 months stuff from Primark is too small already. :(

Lilydreams · 11/11/2015 12:05

Random- oh no to the poonami and lack of sleep for you , hope you are taking it easy and are on the mend.

Mzzf- you seem to be having it tough lately- I hear you on the lack of blocks of sleep though, last. Ugly DS slept from 9.30pm with a ugh the murmer at 10pm through to 1am and then whinged every ten minutes for an hour! I put his dummy in each time and he stopped only to start again just as I was going to drop off! He then slept about an hour each time all night before doing the same! He's not fully waking up so definately isn't hungry- anyone got ideas on how to stop this? He isn't crying just like whimpering and stops when I put dummy in? If I cod get him to stop I might have half a chance of him sleeping right through! A distant dream right now!

Rra- do remind us how the challenges work- I can remember how many you start with or increase by? Think I will join you.

Tindel yay for the night out!

Dozy that's great that DH seems to have listened! Enjoy the Trafford centre- not far from me!

Frolic- amazing 8 hours sleep well done to your little dude! Interesting what you say Siani about baby's not seeing when deep asleep- like i say DS murmers and whinges loads in his sleep and although I can get away with not changing him overnight his nappies is full to bursting in the morning so clearly isn't deep asleep much. I have to admit I am he same- little girl clothes are so cute and it annoys me that the girls sections ways seem bigger than the boys in most shops! Just went on that link- oh my it's dangerous!! The dinosaur outfit is soooo cute I may have to indulge- for Xmas of course! Hope you make baby massage- DS loved it and I'm gutted its finished! Going to baby sensory this week instead.

DS hasn't eaten much today and I'm starting to worry! He ate at 8.30 last night and then at 7.30 this morning but only took 4oz although was perfectly happy kicking around and smiling at me. Cried about 9.30 so I thought he would eat properly as he must be starving but he had 2oz and has been asleep since 10.15! Do baby's just have not hungry days sometimes?

Lilydreams · 11/11/2015 12:06

Omg just re read my post!! Please excuse the typos!!! I have no idea why I seem to have called DS 'ugly'!!! He's gorge!! Oopsy!

mzzzf · 11/11/2015 12:24

Hahaha lily ugly DS - how rude!! Grin Yes to different feeding days, sometimes mini mzzzf just isn't hungry but we get frequent nappies so I'm not too worried.

Dozy - say howdy to the ladies from the antenatal thread. Enjoy!

Mini mzzzf just hates the containment of the grobags so I'm going to do some internet shopping for fleecy onesies instead. I cannot be arsed to keep getting up to out blankets back over her that's she's wriggled off. She didn't like swaddling or tucked in blankets either - 'gimme my freeeedom!' She's like that when awake anyway so I'm not surprised really.

Oh no to high winds Joskar! Hope you get a sailing in this weather somehow.

Right I'm not entirely sure her snot is actual snot. It's clear and very fluid, part of teething?! I need to have a look in her mush later and see.

On the subject of clothes I am threaders with the constant ambush of pink for girls clothing. It's so frustrating!! Mini mzzzf has quite a few 'boys' pieces Grin

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 11/11/2015 12:55

We are in full 'fight for the thumb' phase here. She can just about get it in her mouth but it then falls out frustrating her and waking her up when she is trying to nap. I hope she finds it properly soon so she can self soothe. Poor little mite.

We have a Bush Baby backpack carrier which is awesome but no use until she is 6 months plus. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the Beco rrra, I really like the look of it.

frolic we haven't changed a night nappy here for several weeks (and she is in cloth overnight). She doesn't really wee when she is sleeping, she just makes up for it massively during the day!! Hope you enjoyed your child free trip to the garage. How many times did you look to see where you had put him only to remember he wasn't with you? (That always happens to me Grin)

mzzzf tough times, have no advice really other than it does get better. Promise x

siani frugi stuff is fairly accurately sized. Grumpy 2 is in 3-6. She is 10 weeks and on the 75th centile and there is plenty of growing room in her togs.

And I'm like mzzzf, grumpy 2 wears a lot of boys stuff to get away from the bloody ubiquitous pink!!

randomsabreuse · 11/11/2015 13:23

I've embraced pink to my utter shock. I barely wear it but think DD can carry it off. Do like variety though. Not averse to boy's clothes for practical things but tend to buy a large ebay bundle and just add some white babygrows/ long sleeved vests for under dresses. As I like dresses this makes a girls' bundle easier. Still comfortably in 0-3 clothes with the odd babygrow getting short in the leg but she's 9th percentile weight and has sat on that line since birth. Quite leggy though and seems long compared with others

Pleasingly we all have a family wedding in march so can justify a really pretty dress for that (but it will probably last 10 minutes before disaster strikes!).

Went for a couple of months without night nappies and she was often dry in the morning if I went to change before she was awake properly. Just these 3.30 poos started on holiday as latest cluster feeding phase stopped and have been consistent.

Going to try and hire some reuseables - Will probably not manage full time cloth - out and about or away don't appeal but seem to have a severe mismatch between waist and thigh circumference and capacity going on!

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/11/2015 14:23

Question for you guys. I'm thinking of getting a close caboo for DS as he likes to be lugged around, but he's a chunk. Will it be ok? I've seen one in Argos for £40. I don't have much money and would rather buy new (I'm worried about about things breaking!)

randomsabreuse · 11/11/2015 14:54

I feel like I've got plenty of weight left in my caboo plus organic as I can spread the straps right across my shoulders. The caboo NCT less so as it's narrower so spreads the weight well. Key for me is keeping the rear cross low and the shoulders spread. I'd try to get to a sling library or ask others if you can try on and see how it feels. I think she feels very heavy in the baby bjorn, DH finds it comfortable.

Lilydreams · 11/11/2015 15:13

Mzzf- glad to hear you have not hungry days too! He did have a full 7oz when he woke at 1pm so I'm a bit happier with that but still only a total of 13oz so far today! I know what you mean about the whole pink everything for girls- I find the whole genderised thing quite annoying! DS doesn't have much blue I tend to buy brights if I can.

Random- my DS is 9th percentile too and so far has tracked it precisely which the HV said is unusual as they usually sit/ fluctuate between two lines rather than precisely on one! He's 4 months at the end of November and I'm managing to put 3-6 month jackets and coats on him with the sleeves rolled up but everything else is still firmly 0-3 little dot! Good job really as I realised the other day I only have 3x 3-6 month sleepsuits, millions of (short sleeved Hmm) vests and the odd pair of pants and tops for him! Major shopping spree needed oh dear what a shame! Grin

Just got a text to say the prints of his first photo shoot we had done are ready tommorrow yay! Can't wait to see them we wanted them all but they were bloody expensive so settled for 5!

Just put the dogs away for a bit so I can come upstairs and do some tidying up, I can't leave them out at the minute as they are laying all our drives today and everytime someone walks past the front they go berserk which is every 20 seconds at the moment! DS was laid on our bed watching me put laundry away- (I've left DH's clothes as always does to me- he'll probably not even notice) and he's fell asleep so I think I might have myself a sneaky nap till he wakes up!

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/11/2015 16:41

It's the nct that's in Argos for under £40. There's no sling Library close enough for me to get to unfortunately. It says it goes up to 15kg, so just over 30lbs right? Ds2 is 16lb 9 oz. I suppose if I don't like it I can always sell it on.
lily my DS sometimes has fussy days where he's not very hungry too. (Not surprised with how much he usually guzzles!) Babies won't starve themselves so panic not my lovely (sorry not dramatic there Grin)

randomsabreuse · 11/11/2015 16:49

Have a look online - babipur had the caboo plus organic for less than other places had the NCT. The NCT was a great introduction and I guess I'd like it more if I'd not bought the next one up to compare! It's off back to the sling library on Friday hence I bought a stretchy wrap as post poonami back up!

Just realised how much of my life revolves around baby poo. Bit of a shock!

Frolicacid · 11/11/2015 17:15

So we finally made baby massage class! Ds LOVED it. More looking at the other babies than the massage but he had a great time. I also found out about a reasonably local breastfeeding meet so will go along to that tomorrow if my car is fixed.

I hope everyone trying to eat sensibly is winning? I'm failing miserably because I've had lunch at the pub with my friend and Dh has just offered to buy me dinner there as it's 14 years today since we first got together. Ds is becoming a proper little regular!!

Thank you for all the reassurance about dry nappies in the morning. My friend who is a hv said exactly the same Smile
Elimination communication?! That sounds complicated! I've never heard of it before siani. Something to google during the next feed.
Frugi sizing seems pretty spot on to me so far. I am amazed at the variation between different brands.

lily, ds is bf so it's hard to tell exactly how much he eats, but he definetly had days that seem more and less hungry than each other.

Do you think she's teething mzzf? I can't believe we're at that stage now. Time is going so quick! My mum was just telling me how I didn't have any teeth on my 1st birthday, so we could have a while yet before ds starts.

I went to get the pram out if the boot when I arrived at the garage slow Blush

No idea about a close caboo fatty. We have an ergo and it feels like it could carry a much bigger baby. I have had nothing but good experiences of buying stuff from e-bay second hand. It can be a gamble, but most people are decent enough. Are there any Facebook sling groups you could join locally? We don't have them but I would imagine they would be a good place to pick up a second hand one and less likely hood of being ripped off.

I hope everyone is having a good day.
