Evening all,
The snot of doom has reached the dwarf house. Grumpy 1 has been valiantly fighting off a cold all week and this evening has succumbed to a temperature and general feeling of misery. Because she is so rarely sick she can't remember feeling like this before so she is quite scared by it. Poor thing.
Grumpy 2 seems fine apart from the fact that tonight was a bath night and we still have to endure howls of rage when she is removed from the water. It's almost as if she is reliving the birthing process she is that mad at being taken out of the lovely warm water.
everything I'd have thought you'd be fine to escape for up to about 3 hours without DS2 needing a feed. If you are planning on leaving a bottle it might be worth practicing a few times first though, just so your DH knows what he's up against. They can be little pickles with the bottle. Grumpy 2 took one fine around 6-7 weeks but we were then a bit slack and didn't bother for a few weeks and now she won't take it at all. Grumpy 1 was always good with a bottle but we introduced it at 4 weeks with her and then faithfully gave her a bottle a day so she never got out of the habit. If yours proves to be a bottle refuser your DH is better off not even attempting it and just distracting him in the sling until you get back - much less tears that way. What are you planning on seeing?
mzzzf hope the sleep suit trial goes well tonight. Fingers crossed that it is the silver bullet for your sleepless nights
siani I hope you get more sleep tonight as well.
frolic we love Tutta clothing, my Mum brings it back from Finland. I even have some vintage pieces from when I was a baby. Attached is a picture of grumpy 2 at 2 days old in a 35 year old Tutta sleep suit that has done me, my sister, grumpy 1 and grumpy 2 so far!
fatty I borrowed a close caboo off a mate this time around and couldn't get on with it, however I think that's just because I am not really a stretchy sling kind of person I get on much better with a more structured carrier. Basically the lack of buckles freaks me out. My friend absolutely swore by it though so if you have confidence in that type of sling I believe they are great.
kbro79 your friend with the 2 DSs is right. One of the brilliant things about being a second time Mum is realising that some of the things you thought were vitally important first time around just aren't. Cot napping is definitely one of those things. Let's face it, if you have another they won't have the luxury of being able to have fixed cot naps as they'll have to fit in with their older sibling and if it doesnt do subsequent children long term harm it's unlikely to break your first born either!
dozy hope you had a nice time at the Trafford Centre.
I wonder how fanby is getting on on holiday. If you are lurking, hope you are having an amazing time
See you later chez Mugabe, or not
