Good luck gt, you are awesome.
flouncy hope the night was better.

Big day today, my little brother is landing tonight after one year. Obv I saw him in October in London but I really miss him, he is the best brother I could have ever wished for. He thinks he is surprising the whole family but actually the whole family will surprise him tomorrow morning. Yep, I told everyone his secret and I don't care Grin. But tonight he is all mine.

BigPigLittlePig · 17/01/2014 06:44

What is his secret Lily?? [nosy]

Flouncy, that was the first post I read this morning, fair made my day. At least you know he can do it!

GT good luck for today, 3 days sounds like an awfully long time. I hope you enjoy yourself. Am glad you didn't wrap the chocs!

DH off walking the dog in the cold drizzle, I'm tucked up in bed still Grin.

The secret is that he comes home today, he didn't tell anyone. He is only staying for a week so I wanted to make sure everyone is available.

MsJupiterJones · 17/01/2014 07:48

Yay well done flouncy!

Kyz Thai curry or soup?

Jims · 17/01/2014 08:08

Hope you have a lovely time with your brother Lily.

And flouncy - sorry it was just a fluke.

Good luck with today gt, i'm sure the boys will have a lovely time being spoiled!

Kyz - that is awesome food planning. Even when i plan, i mostly just stick to the same easy stuff. Occasionally i get inspirednto trawl for new recipes but it takes so long and then inevitably the kids refuse to eat it!! Well, ds1 anyway. F is much less fussy so far.

I am not on the diet wagon here, in fact some days i'm not sure i eat enough like bp so that's why i was wondering about an ap. I'm ok with my weight, it's just my separated stomach muscles that are v annoying as i look a pregnant still. I know i should do daily exercises but really need to just do them.

f is also doing many poos. Really quite big soft ones and sometimes really stinky (sorry tmi!!) i can't decide whether it might just be teeth as he just pours dribble and still only has 4 but with more on the way, or if it might be related to me stopping bf and giving him 4/5 oz of cows milk last thing at night. He was another v sicky baby but has outgrown it actually coming out, except a couple of nights this week he has been a bit sick. But he's also v snotty and coughing loads so i thought that was cold related. Hmmm. Dh is sceptical as to milk as he doesn't want to mess with F's diet. I cut out dairy for a bit when bf to see if would help with F's sickiness and haven't been able to reintroduce milk to my own diet yet - i'm kind of rebuilding tolerance as it gave me ibs symptoms. I think dh is worried that F might do the same if i cutvout his evening milk. Maybe i'll give it another week or so and if it doesn't clear up take him to the gp. (Who already thinks i'm an anxious mother i suspect!)

Sophiathestormfairy · 17/01/2014 08:12

Ohhhh sorry I completely missed the end of the thread.

I STILL have guests Hmm

All has been going well and the menus have worked great i did a full day of activities on Tuesday (Strangford Lough, sea life centre thing, Strangford Ferry and a little detour into the mountains to look at the views because the sun came out momentarily). Yesterday was supposed to be a lazy day, which is was for DF and DSM but it was DHs birthday and on
Sat I have all his ones coming over, so yest was the only time I had to bake his cake. I will ice on Sat. So with that as well as making curry for the evening and taking them out onto our favourite cafe for lunch I was pooped again at the end of the day.

As well as my work phone call yesterday morning more about that later.

So today I have to deposit then at the airport and hopefully DH and I will be off out for Chinese tonight.

So the work phone call. I think it was positive. Hmm. They said they have loads of work and they would rather I did it than get someone new in who doesn't know what they are doing. But they don't know at the mo if home working would work in my old role or not. He said since the restructure ( if you remember I tried for redundancy and they wouldn't it give it to me as only one other person has my skill set but he is the kind of person who gets everyone's backs up) there are loads of vacancies. So I could potentially do something slightly different. Anyway they have spoken to HR, who, in their usual style, didn't get back to them in time for my call even though they had been asked to. My immediate manager is on holidays this week so I have another call on 28th. Grr. Hate it when these things drag out.

Please could pass or someone do me a hi level update on all I have missed over the last few days?

ditsygal · 17/01/2014 08:37

flouncy yay for him showing he can do it, boo for it being a fluke. Maybe it will start to happen more often now though?

Kyz your menu looks awesome - what chunky bean burgers do you use? are they bought or homemade - if so whats the recipe?

My sw dinner menu for this week has been -
Mon - Vegetable curry with rice and SW homemade bhaji's
Tue - Stirfry with noodles and quorn pieces
Wed - Couscous, roasted veg and quorn sausages
Thur - Quorn Spag bol with loads of veg in.
Tonight is likely to be the same as last night, or maybe the left over bolognese over baked potato's.

Zamboni · 17/01/2014 09:22

Ah lily enjoy it all! We did something similar with my little bro in November. Was wonderful. Lots of happy tears. Grin

ditsy, kyz, your meal planners are really interesting, thanks for posting. Will def take some inspiration from those as I am definitely just a repeat the same old choices meal planner.

GT hope all goes well. Will you be wearing something fabulously glam?

flouncy great big fist punch in the air for J sleeping through!

pennie I know exactly what you mean - the user names all make me smile too. Familiar and comforting.

Squeezes sophia. Missed you, missus. Grin

jims hmmm, don't know what to suggest. S often has big, loose, stinky poos. He's dribbling a lot too, soaking t-shirts within an hour or two sometimes. Can't help on the dairy front but loose poos and dribble are normal for teething here!

I went to the dr again and now have antibiotics. FX I improve soon as DH has to work tomorrow. I am planning on a lot of tv and CCTV type parenting.

StormyIsles · 17/01/2014 11:14

What a lovely surprise lily!

Tantrum Central this morning. Made getting me and m out the house by 740 very tricky. She point blank refused to cooperate and instead just threw herself on the ground and cried. Whinged the whole way in the car too. And then was a smiling happy angel as soon as we got into the childminders Envy

Hooray for j proving he can do it flouncy. I so get your frustrations though, m always reverts to type after a good night or two. On that basis alone, tonight is likely to be horrific!

Weather here is dreadful. I came to work in an offshore jacket Blush. Can't stop thinking of the little boy lost in Edinburgh being out in this, I really hope that story ends well Sad

YellowWellies · 17/01/2014 12:23

Isles we had some of those tantrums this morn when I stopped him attempting toast theft at playgroup. Proper writhing on the floor, pounding his fists epic ones Confused . Bear in mind the toast and spread has milk in so he can't have it and I do end up feeling like beating my fists on the floor too! Envy He has been much less squeaky and whingy than he was last week though and has dropped his night feed altogether but is eating and BF like a creature possessed during the day so I'm thinking growth spurt still. Sigh they do keep us on our toes.

That story from Edinburgh is horrible Sad three is too wee to be out on his own. I wonder if there is some family connection. Not victim blaming (as lets face it no one expects their tot to simply disappear) but I'm surprised the Mum didn't check on him at all from putting him to bed til breakfast - it wouldn't have stopped it happening if she had but it didn't make it ring entirely true to me (I know I'm a cynic) I always pop in on J when we go up to bed or if I go to the loo. I do hope he turns up safe but I wonder if the absent Dad might have him?

Lily311 · 17/01/2014 13:08

I don't check on O from bedtime till morning. She wakes up if I open the door but mind you we are in an apartmant with no stairs and her bedroom is right next to mine. I am checking the news constantly and hoping he is found safe and well.

ChasingDaisy · 17/01/2014 13:10

I can sympathise with the tantrums. Just went out for lunch with my parents and my goodness was it a struggle to keep him entertained! He polished off a whole child's portion of lunch though and kept the whole restaurant entertained with his antics Grin Fun but exhausting. He also broke my GHDs this morning Shock But my daddy just bought me a new pair 'for my birthday' which is two months away Grin

ChasingDaisy · 17/01/2014 13:11

I don't check on O from bedtime until morning either. But his bedroom door is literally right behind my sofa.

PurplePidjin · 17/01/2014 13:27

YW i don't disturb R unless he disturbs me iyswim? It never occurred to me to Blush

R's poos are mostly solid but get loose and acidic when teething. White metanium and waitrose bottom butter are doing a sterling job at healing things atm but I'll pop him to the doc if it's not cleared up by next week. That's the only teething symptoms we get so I'm definitely not complaining!!

Elizadoesdolittle · 17/01/2014 13:39

I don't check either of my girls from bed to morning either. DD1 comes into my room when the sun comes up on her gro clock (either 8 or 8:30) and I get E whenever she wakes up shouting in the morning. she has a video monitor in her room which is on till I go to bed and I look at first thing if she hasn't woken up by the time DD1 is up.

I haven't caught up on the news yet today (just about to put bbc news channel on now) but I did say there was something dodgy about it. I do think the police are keeping something back and there's more to it then they are letting on. I do hope it turns out well. Just doesn't bear thinking about.

YellowWellies · 17/01/2014 14:20

Ahhhh so the checking thing isn't so odd. I guess I do it because he's a fair way away from us - and its something I fondly remember my Mum doing.

TheDetective · 17/01/2014 14:47

I don't check on O routinely, as like lily O usually wakes on opening the door, as it brushes quite hard on the carpet. I do check now and then, but it's more of a when I feel necessary if that makes sense?! Or if I'm missing him because of bastard work and need a good sniff of baby!.

O's poo has never been solid since he began weaning. It was very firm during the Gaviscon days (he still has it - but only once a day in his bedtime milk!). But now it varies massively through how loose it is. GT I'd carry on with the metanium. If broken skin that is what I use. Red skin I use sudacrem and find this combination works well. Every baby will react differently though. Acidic poo can be normal in any baby, depends what's been eaten, and teething does it too Grin.

Our SW meals this week have been: Roast dinner. Diet coke chicken with cajun wedges and salad. Arrabiata pasta bake. Potato topped chicken and spinach pie with roasted root vegetables (covered in garlic, sage and salt and pepper mmm!). Veggie bean burgers (get mine from Iceland as the syn value is 3 - lowest I can find) with SW chips. Mash, quorn low fat sausages, green beans, baby sweetcorn, carrots and gravy.

Now you know why I spent £150 on shopping last week and DP is currently out topping things up arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

fruitpastilles · 17/01/2014 15:01

S also wakes when I open the door so I don't check her either, but can always hear her banging into the cot over the monitor so I know she's ok.

She vommed everywhere this morning, I've had to wash everything in her cot including the bumpers. I'd only washed all her bedding the day before yesterday. She hasn't vommed like that since she was about 9 months old, she's been so quiet today aswell.

Our SW dinners this week have been
Chilli and baked potato
Sausage mash onions and peas
Chicken risotto
Fish pie and broccoli (not a SW recipe and worked out 10.5 syns for my portion)
Tonight will be sausage egg chips and spaghetti
Chicken curry tomorrow and a roast on Sunday

fruitpastilles · 17/01/2014 15:05

Mmmm I love diet coke chicken det I'd forgotten about that. I'm definitely having that next week, but with Pepsi max because that's what I drink.
Only trouble with that is dp doesn't like it so I'll have to do 2 dinners that day.

TheDetective · 17/01/2014 15:08

I just came back to say I do it with pepsi max, it definitely tastes better than diet coke!

If DP doesn't like it, well, all the more for you!

Could you just take some of the chicken and veg and put some cajun spice on for him? Like a fajhita mix or something?!

I'm on nights tonight :( Had a lovely 6 days off, feeling back to normal after christmas now. Actually have time to spend doing things that aren't related to shopping!! Or christmas!

Thechick · 17/01/2014 15:09

I have this weird thing about closed doors. H's door is open and his room touches ours AND dh likes the monitor on so we can literally hear him breathing. Our door is open, umm, most of the time Blush, ds1 has his door closed but the front room door and dining room door is always open unless its freezing and we don't have a door on the kitchen.

I've put on about 6lb over Christmas. Ive been eating better but its not budging. Might need to pull out my ww info.

fruitpastilles · 17/01/2014 15:13

Oh yeah that's a good idea, he can have his in a wrap then, see I'd never have thought of that I'd have done a completely separate dinner, that's how thick I am!

GTbaby · 17/01/2014 15:28

Zamboni I'm always fabulously dressed. Lol. I have 3 outfits ready. Not new as I didn't want clothes made in my now size, want to loose weight before having stuff tailored.
I will take pictures a d share.

YW tbh I check on H when I come to bed and IF I get up to go to the loo. In morning I don't dare go in incase I wake him, so wait until I hear him chatting away. But this story does seem a lil suss. If he had just gone for a walk then someone would have found him by now.

Right I have time for a 30 min power nap before I need to head back to temple.

TheDetective · 17/01/2014 15:34

That is what comes from having a fussy DS1! I could end up making 3 separate meals here! (If O can't have what we have!) Try and make it as easy as I can!!

GT 3 days?! 3 days?! I didn't know you had to spend 3 days there! Excuse my ignorance, but why is this?!
