Down to the south lands to visit my family as dh is on call next week. Am attempting to make a dent in the mounds of stuff my dad has everywhere. Can see some shelves now, may be able to use the dining table by the end of the week. Bought new curtains for his living room as his where hanging in tatters, need to do the same for his dining room too...

Hi all, been a while since I've been on, and hope I'm in the right place? Ds2 almost 5 months and I can't get him to eat or drink much, managed to get 3oz milk down him when he fell asleep after the school run and maybe 4/5 tsp worth of baby rice at 1ish, but he was whinging and batting me away. He's teething and snotty and has a bit of a cough (I'm assuming it's because of the teeth) ....

Anyone else having trouble getting the squishies to feed? The other two just toot teething in their stride ? :S
X

Hi Tinkypete - yep youre in the right place. J is super distractable during feeds at the moment (its that super nosey age!) And also goes off food when he has a cold - just lots of small drinks rather than bug meals if you see what I mean. Tummy time and snot sucker pre feeds helps a bit but otherwise you sadly just need to ride it out...

Is everyone and their babies doing ok? Can't believe that we are approaching the six month mark already. We are nearly out of 0-3 clothingGrin

Happy Christmas Shelley (and anyone else lurking out there) - hope you and your family have a lovely first xmas with F. How are you feeling nowadays? Hope things have got a bit easier and F continues to delight.

My cousin, her DH and her 21 month old are staying with us this weekend (over from the US for just 4 days for a funeral) - J is being a little charmer and DS1 and DS2 are entertaining both J and their little cousin. Am feeling a v proud mummy right now.

Hello! Well, L is five months old today! Where on earth did that go?! She really is an absolute delight and has completed our family a treat. She has decided too that Christmas is the time to cut your first tooth! DH noticed a couple of days ago when she bit him!!

This thread is so quiet now, I assume everyone is on Facebook. As I'm not even registered I think now is probably the right time to bow out of here. I really do want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone for their kind words and support for the last six months; it's been great to have you to chat to and bounce ideas off.

Merry Christmas and I hope the new year brings many more wonderful times with your families. X

Does anyone recommend or will share their thoughts on bumbo seats please?
DS2 is sitting with minimal support from me now & has great head control so I've been looking at the bumbo seats but I'm unsure on the safety aspect of them - worried he'll topple out Confused

dinkystinky · 27/12/2013 09:35

I think they're safe with the straps but should only be used on the floor - but only really of use till basby can sit up himself ( j and his big brothers hate the bumbo though so only any good if you can get them to sit in it!)

I did think that given a few more weeks, K will be sitting far more independently so then we wouldn't need it

You can normally pick them up second hand really cheaply so may be worth it if Hes getting frustrated at not being upright

Good idea, I will ask a few of my friends who now have DCs older than K.

Hi Everyone, I haven't been here since A was born as just haven't found the time, but having just scanned this thread I've realised how much I've missed you all and it's been to hear all your news and realise I'm not alone on so many things! Looks like I'll have to get IT savvy and work out how to use my FB account but firstly would one of you mind if I PM you and would you also mind explaining how I do that? (can you tell I learned to touch type on an old fashioned type writer to typing music played on a gramophone - I kid you not!)

Re bumbo seats my DS1 was too chubby to fit in one. Have a second hand one for DC2 but tray is cracked and the bit in the front is too wide for him to reach anything so constantly letting go of toys and then not able to reach them. Mine didn't come with straps but no way he could get out!

Happy new year all - MarieKL if you PM me your name and photo on FB I'll pass it on to one of the tech savvy MNer admin bods on FB to add you (apparently I have admin rights but no bloody idea what to do to add you as I'm a luddite).

Abzs - J sounds like he was too excited by the new year to sleep.

Happy New Year Everyone.

Thanks Dinkystinky. I've PM'd you.

Abzs - was J scared? My DS1 was quite bemused by DC2s monitor but can't work out how to talk through it yet, though that's probably just as well!

Perhaps not scared, more startled; he did the wide-eyed star jump but no crying to accompany it.

This evening he rolled over and woke himself up right at the critical point of Sherlock.
