Glad to hear the London meet up was a big success. Love the photos on FB.

Great to hear that some of these babies are finally starting to sleep a bit better. We spent a night with my parents and N didn't sleep well at all. She didn't want to nap in the cot there either. I'm not sure if it's something to do with the room, the cot, something else or just random. she didn't sleep well there the time before either. Confused

SNFED - J is like that when we stay somewhere new too. I think babies like familiarity and strange places and cots throw them rather. Hope her sleep is much much better tonight and your parents can help with the girls so you get some rest in.

Hello all, I've been hanging out over at Facebook and not here - sorry! I've read a few pages to catch up - I hope everyone is well.
ER and I went to the London meetup and it was lovely to meet real people!
ER is steadily moving up the centiles - 75 to 91 to 95 now and she weighs in at eight kilos. Vegan breast milk is powerful stuff! We are waiting until six months to begin blw mainly because I don't want to be shoving spoons in her mouth.

Great to meet you to, and your lovely daughter. She is doing fabulously with her growing (as are you with your feeding!).

Felix is also pretty chunky, I think about 7.5kg. We're also holding off weaning until six months - mainly because BF is just so convenient, and I'm putting off the inevitable faff of carrying around tiny tupperware boxes with bits of food in.

I have had a grizzly baby today - overtired after the excitement of visiting the capital and every nap was ruined by me doing something stupid like making noise or taking him to a new parents' group. But he's asleep now - hopefully for the long haul.

DH back from his weekly Northern exile tonight. Hurrah!

Runswithsquirrels · 29/11/2013 19:55

Oh yes, that's definitely another reason I'm holding off - BF is free and eminently portable!

Not surprised F is grizzly - he was the life and soul of the party (with his sausage rolls and dive bombing of the ladeez). A boys got to have some down time some time! Have a lovely weekend with DH.

J is also pretty chunky but havent had him weighed in over a month - due to get weighed next week I think. Am holding off weaning till he can at least sit up - he doesnt seem that interested in food (abit like DS1 who can take it or leave it - unless its pizza in which case he takes it all in a matter of seconds). He's not even that interested in bfing if there's anything remotely exciting going on (like his big brothers farting around, Dh choosing socks, a blank tv screen....).

Took J swimming today - strangely for a child who spends his entire time splashing the water out of the tummy tub on to me (and the floor/walls/passing brothers) he becomes rather placid in the pool. Go figure.

Ha ha, Dinky. F usually feeds like a trooper but when I tried to combine bedtime feed and story, he took nothing as he spent the whole time turning his head and grinning at me.

Gosh its quiet on here! The spirit of Xmas has come to casa dinky this weekend - tree up (j most bemused by it), carols playing (ditto) and big boys school xmas fair survived where yours truly was a popcorn serving elf ( j slept through most of that fortunately).

It is ever so quiet isn't it?! Is that because we are all excellent and just striding through it?!

All relatively calm here. L has decided to drop her middle of the night bottle which I am very grateful for; however, I am now a bit concerned she's not getting enough milk as she hasn't taken bigger bottles to compensate. She was nowhere near the magical 30oz anyway and now she's only drinking just over half of it. I keep reminding myself to look at the whole child. She's content and alert and looks and feels heavier so I should relax. Hard though!

My friend whose dd is four weeks older is the same so perhaps they are going through the same 'how to worry your mother this time' phase! Wonder weeks said a loss of appetite or fussy eating might happen so just going to chill.

Lovely that Christmas has started for you Dinky. We are Father Christmas and tree bound next weekend. DS was lovely with his advent calendars yesterday (he has ended up with five!) and opened L's for her and lit her candle too. Bless him. I'm so relieved he's such a lovely big bro.

I decided on the 26th to start sharing Christmas songs with ER as it was within a month so the poor girl had to suffer with me singing along with Michael Buble. She saw her first Christsmas tree the other day and was completely non plussed. I've also bought her 'baby's first Christmas' stocking and am setting about filling it even though I know she won't 'get' it! I just couldn't bear the idea of Santa missing her out!

Hello ladies,

I haven't posted in a while but I've been lurking.
I haven't done anything for Xmas yet as I have been very busy. DM left on sat. She came to visit from abroad 2 days before J was born. She has been a big help and now I have to do this school run with J. We are also moving next week so it's very busy here with all the parking to do.

Sorry for the 'me' post.

Lovely to meet up with the L

Silly phone...
Lovely to meet up with the London crew on Thursday. L loved socialising with all the other lovely babies and actually sleep more in a busy restaurant than at home?!

Good to hear Christmas is underway , as always I'm way behind schedule and need to get my act together. If anyone has any tips on how to get tinsel to stay attached to the ceiling I'd love to hear them. Last year I gave up on the decorations altogether, just couldn't get them to stay put.

Wow Silver it must have been great to have your mum for such a long time, it must be weird without her now. Do you get to see her much usually?

Went to rhyme time with L today, think he enjoyed it as he is now 'singing' very loudly, grinning, and refusing to go to sleep! I'm usually telling DD to quiet down so as not to wake the baby, now I having to quieten down the baby so as not to wake DD.

Thanks Sunday. It's weird not having her around. I don't see her often but I will be visiting her in August next year. J was so used to her and he is now down with a cold. I hardly slept last night and today has been tough with him screaming in the car during the school run.

Glad you enjoyed the London meet. I couldn't make it as I have been having visitors almost on a daily basis who came to see DM before she left.

Sorry no advice re: tinsel. I haven't done any decoration due to move.

J was weighed yesterday and the HV was worried he is on the heavy side. He will be 4 months tomorrow but came in at 9.78 above the 99th percentile. I have been instructed not to top up with formula and stick to BF only and also not to introduce any food till 6 months. Trouble is he shows interest when I'm eating but I also don't want him to be diagnosed with infant obesity.

Mrsd - ds sounds lovely with dd. V envious of his advent calendar collection!

Sunday - I gave up on tinsel ages ago. Paper chains and bluetack are order of the day round here.

Silver - wow you were lucky to have your mum over so long! Hope J feels better soon and you have a better night. Good luck with the move too!

MrsD,Silver - please try not to worry about the size and weight of your little ones. There's a reason why we have those percentile charts - some babies will be off the top and some off the bottom and lots in the middle and that's all fine. As long as they are happy healthy and active and alert (which I rather suspect both of yours are) then all is well. Silver, your J may be large now because he's not active yet - it may be he slims out alot once he's on the move. That's what happened with DS1.

Re decorations it did occur to me that despite dh and I being a pair of died in the wool humbugs, Grandparents will expect christmassy photos. So we'll have to have something.

Today I braved a peer group for bf mums. I very nearly ran away, had an attack of fright in the middle of the shopping centre and retreated to the shops instead of going over and saying hello. By the time I'd steeled my nerve, done the shopping and bought a drink they were almost ready to leave. And of course they are perfectly nice non-scary people and I'm going back next week.

J was all smiles, which helps, and is considerably bigger than the 5 month old that was there. And he has some new tights and cardigans from h&m...

Silver my J is 95th centile and starting to watch me eat. MIL says he's growing just like DH did at that age. My DB2's DSs were both off the scale and both are fit and healthy, just built like brick proverbials (taking after DB2's FIL).

on phone but want to say hi. abz good on you for going. don't feel nervous, children are an immediate ice breaker. im finding im definitely meeting people I wouldn't naturally have met, diff professions etc and its awesome.

silver, what a joy to have your dm around. Hope you settle in to the school run. I stick on this singing caterpillar to the car seat (it was part of his activity mat) and its really helped to distract him when im driving.

tomorrow ive got to have 7 fillings at the dentist. Sad Sad Sad im dreading it. but my teeth have been chipping throughout pregnancy its awful. if I have another child I might need dentures, which I say slightly in jest but actually im really worried that might be the case.Sad sad times.

T is off the scale too! He's grown over 20cm since his birth, he loves food and wants to eat everything I have, the health visitor said he can just have the same dinners as us now. Like Dinky said someone has to be at the top of these charts :-) T has been on or above the 95th centile since his 12 week scan!

ER is almost off the charts for weight and way off it for height. Her dad is tall so it's not a surprise and I'm not worried. I adore her chunky thighs although chunky, chubby, sturdy etc are all words I have banned my mother using as I know she'll carry on when ER is old enough to understand the meaning of the words!

Blimey cheek 7 fillings!!! Hope it's not too painfull, just as well it's free for us at the moment.

Well done abz for braving the peer group. I would have felt exactly the same, but I'm sure once you get comfortable with the group it will be well worth it.

Ah Dinky paper chains are a great idea and, added bonus, I can get DD to make them -she'll love it disclaimer: other discount sell-all stores are available

Ouch to the 7 fillings Cheek. Hope you got them sorted ok. My teeth were terrible when I was pregnant with DS2 but ok when pregnant with J.

Abzs well done for making it to the group - it'll be easier next time round (and as you say at least this time J came out of it with some nice new stuff!).

Beginning - great to hear T is doing so well!

My J is back to being a sleep refusnik - ho hum

Thank you all for the words of encouragement.

Abz well done for attending. Hope it gets easier.

Cheek I had 2 fillings done last week and paracetamol really helped with the pain afterwords.
