ChaCha, was about to do that earlier but my grumpy monster woke up!!!!!!!!

We are good. Sam is now about 23lb and 78cms tall, so all in all is the size of a 12 month old. He is on 3 meals a day and snacks and LOVES his water, can't get cup back once he has started drinking from it. He only has three milk feeds now and is drinking the minimum but is very healthy. He is a real cheeky monkey and is usually grinning away. He sleeps through the night still, going to bed at 7.30 and waking between 6.30 and 7. He is a bit grizzly at the mo, but think it may be the fault of a top tooth! He can now roll everywhere, even through open doors, so is a nightmare to keep track of! He rolled off of bed the bed this morning, was only there for 2 mins. Felt so guilty!!!!!! We have just been out in the paddling pool, was bliss!!!!!! He can also sit unaided which is great and a skill he loves, esp in paddling pool!!! Oh and he is going through that clingy stage big time!

As for me, I am fine. Start a little part time job next week in a baby shop I can walk to. It is great as I can get Sam up feed him his breakfast and then walk down and am back home in time for play and bath time. And it is only 3 days a week. Means a bit more money and some time out which I think will be nice (the time that is). My DH is now away alot without us as taking Sam to the hotels was getting painful. He wouldn't sleep and was grouchy, plus got bored during the day so haven't done it for months. As a result am alone (except for parents) quite a few weeks, which can get hard, but have a good network of friends and go to tumbletots etc.

I am loving being a mum and enjoying all the new things sam can do, he is great company, except for his screaming fits!!!!!

As for the extension, haven't got much further, are waiting for surveyors!

I think that is it really, just enjoying ourselves as much as possible. He is helping with the typing at the mo, as well as filling a very stinky nappy, so will go. back later

Rodeo · 06/06/2006 21:03

Enthusia, lovely to hear your news, now sorry to sound spoilt but could we have some pics too? Grin Chacha and Tessasmum are our new site moderators you know! Oh and your Sam isn't our biggest baby - SharonTW's Sam is 25lb! Jess is also going through a clingy stage though think this is normal for around this time - I've never had one of those babies who'll go to anyone (although secretly wish I had!)
Chacha, afternoon does sound blissful! Lovely when they'll stay put - went out last week with an 18 month old and don't think she managed to sit down for more than a minute (it's amazing how quickly you forget how many times an hour you have to retrieve a toddler!)
Tessasmum, that's really kind thank you :)
Lost's on tonight, yippee! Does anyone else watch it apart from me? Brownie & GG, Did you girls enjoy the Prison Break finale?

Rodeo · 06/06/2006 21:08

Oh and BoB - Hope things went well at your meeting today! :)

ChaCha · 07/06/2006 06:46

Hello ladies,

It's official. We are definitely waking up earlier. Today it was 6am! Visited friends for an hour last night, LO fell asleep there at 8.30pm, slept when put in car, and continued sleeping once home. Needless to say, I fell asleep at 9.30, woke to make bottles and that was me until we both woke up this morning. I cannot stay up late anymore - far too tired. Am very grateful that grandad will be arriving tomorrow, yippeee!

Enthusia - Was good to read your update. Congrats on new job too.

Onwards and upwards I suppose....yawn, yawn!

ChaCha · 07/06/2006 12:19

LOL :o I've come on here to have my break, and there's nothing to catch up on...

I'm sure everyone is out enjoying the sun. I still have loads to do today so just paddling pool with LO mid-afternoon. See you all later (i hope)

twinkle1 · 07/06/2006 14:17

OMG its so hot here:) I suppose its good practice for our hols!!!
Joshua and me have been in the paddleing pool for the last hour ahhh bliss.... josh is such a water baby.Well i should think about putting more clothes on to go and get the kids!!!
Twinkle & Josh

hi again..

Enthusia- glad to see so many posts from you, i really missed you! keep it up!

Rodeo - hugs to you and your family....really sorry for your grandma but hope she pulls through..probably little consolation, but we were told the same about my grandfather a few months ago, and no doubt he's out playing pool and drinking theakstons right now..lol..
a telegraph from the queen is amazing..wow!
wonder if any of us will end up with one..
and will we still be posting on 'gransnet',hehe..lovely idea!

Chacha - lmao at your accounts of being beaten up by Z- the little terrors! ..O is the same..he likes to wake me up by pulling my hair (when he's in his cot next to me) or kicking me and dp in the face and giggling (when co-sleeping)

Diege - hope you're having fun in wales!

'Petrolheads' - I know lots about cars just because my dad is addicted, and one of my friends does rally driving...but in the end..they are just metal boxes to me (no license and londons too scary!)

  • nova are you back!? bet it was great fun..and whats the problem with the quinny? I was tempted as boots have 20% off the red one..but will wait to hear your feedback (don't want to become one of those mums with 5/6 buggies..lol\0

I'm delaying my business for a while..I was overwhelmed with all the leaflets and forms yesterday, and dp is about to go on his broker course which will mean long hours and stress for him..
plus in the meantime i can build up my skills and launch with a bang!

of course friends (including you guys of course!) are welcome to put in orders..just nothing official..

I also have a few things I've been mulling over..one big thing in particular..I hope I can ask you guys for advice son as i'm kind of stewing with it.

geesh..long post..

take care all

Tex111 · 07/06/2006 17:45

Hi guys!

BoB, Beks, still up for tomorrow? BoB, do you think O will be OK for the park. Poor thing. Hope he feels better soon. Please remind me where we're meeting. Blush Seem to be completely braindead at the moment.

Unfortunately just a quick one from me. House a disaster and a thousand things to do. My sister is working in London this summer and staying with us... in the spare bedroom which is unpainted and full of boxes. Got to get it sorted before the end of the month.

R doing very well. Her milk was changed again. Now on Neocate which is the top of the baby formula tree. She's doing well on it so far. Two little teeth are poking through at the moment and she's rolling over, sitting up for a few seconds on her own, saying bababa, gagaga, mamama, etc, laughing at her brother a lot. All good stuff!

twinkle1 · 07/06/2006 18:09

Enthuia,
Im off to Malta:) on the 20th june.We are staying in mehilia bay which i hear is very nice so we can't wait.
Josh has spent most of the day naked on a towel or in the paddeling pool.Im just about to take the other two to swimming club,im a bit jelaous i could do with a nice cool dip:):)
ah well must go twinkle

BEKsmum · 07/06/2006 20:26

Evening all

Tex yep meet up still on, we're meeting at the bandstand if the weather is good and the cafe at the top of the park if the weather is bad at 11am - not sure if we're pcinicing or eating in the cafe, I'm happy to go with whateveryone else wants to do

Bob sorry to hear that O is unwell, will he be well enough to come out tomorrow?

Any messages you want passed on to Londoner let us know now as we are seeing her tomorrow.

Enthusia talking of meet ups, Chacha has arranged to come to London on the 20th June are you up for it? You could always park outside mine if it's easier and we could go into London together, although we're going to be meeting up somewhere around Victoria if that's easier for you.

Chacha lol at your descriptions of Z bashing you up, should I tell you now that that is only the start of rough and tumble, wait till he can run and jump on you!!! Grin They say you might as well have got yourself a dog when you have baby boy as they need vigorous exercise at least once a day or they drive you nuts. I was obviously really bad in a previuos existence as I've got two of the little darlings Grin

Had Thomas' 7-9 month check up today, all good except he's not making a wide enough variety of sounds, although he can "ugh" and scream sufficiently to get what he wants so not overly worried! Smile

Right best go and do something around the house as it looks like a bomb has gone off AGAIN, speak to you all tomorrow after our meet up, will take pictures for posting later on. Beks

p.s. when's it gonna be cloudy I'm allergic to the heat and the sun so this weather is doing my head in already, I'll be doing my own private cloud dance this evening - sorry girls Grin

ChaCha · 07/06/2006 21:47

It's nice to have something to catch up on!

Beks - I'm surprised that they told you that assuming it was either HV or Dr. How were they able to make that analysis and how long did they have to do so? Based on personal experience I take half of what they say with a pinch of salt and sounds like you are doing the same. Humph!

Give my love to Londoner and tell her I'm really looking forward to the 20th. Hope you all have a lovely time, wish I lived nearer.
Speaking of meet up, while i remember will post my details on our Y group.

BoB - Hope O is feeling a bit better tomorrow and you can join the girls.

Really can't wait for my LO to meet his grandad again, he left when he was only 8wks old. See you all soon and if i don't log on before, have a super weekend. Oh and Beks....keep the rain cloud down your way girl!! He hee...

Enthusia · 08/06/2006 07:49

Hi all

The 20th is a Tuesday so am not working, I could well make it. Will see what first week at work is like in terms of fitting everything in and will know more definitely. Would love to come though! If that's ok?!

Nothing much to report here. Feeling sick and grumpy but the sun is making me feel much brighter. Am meeting a friend for lunch and then doing some tidying.

Malta sounds lovely Twinkle.

Right better go before Sam decides to wake up, he is having a lie in this morning.

Tex111 · 08/06/2006 09:11

Don't think I'll be organised enough to sort out a picnic this morning so we'll have to rely on the cafe today. See you at 11!

Tex111 · 08/06/2006 09:28

And by that 'we' I meant me and Toby! Obviously not making the decision for everyone. Smile

GarfieldsGirl · 08/06/2006 13:47

Hi! Sean's 7 mths today. Cars being a pain...again! And I need new shoes! Hows everyone else doing? I hope you're all enjoying your meet up today.

BoB - how's Oskars throat doing? Are you managing to get ABs into him OK?
Enthusia - another Gymbabe! If Sam's anything like my 2, I'll bet he loves it.
TM - thanks for that xx I will remember you if I need a chat, thanks Smile
BEKs - lol what a pair we make with our cars! The car I was driving was an automatic, wheels spubn as I was pulling out of a corner, hit a barrier and over I went! All the usul cliches, I knew what was happening before and prepared myself, It was like it happened in slow-mo, and when it did happen, it felt as tho I was watching from outside on a computer game! It wouldn't have happened in a manual, so hopefully DP won't need to drive an auto... I don't understand how the HV can make a statement like that on Thomas' 'vocbulary' in the space of 1/2 hour or whatever. Surely age 3 is the time to start worrying not 7mths? I'm lucky my HV's really nice and sensible! A rare one from reading lots of threads on MN.
Tex - didn't want to post on your other thread again, I'm scared they'll shout at me! I don't see the prob of donating it to Salvation Army or whatever, as I said I did and they were extremely grateful for it. At the end of the day some women can't bf or choose not to, so what else are they gonna do but give their LO formula? I really didn't fancy getting pounced on by saying that!

Hope everyone I haven't mentioned is ok and having a good day.

GG xx

babyonboard · 08/06/2006 14:21

hi all

gg - happy birthday sean!
gosh how time flies..novas nat will be 8 months soon! wow..
lol at you needing new shoes...the sole of my ballet pumps dropped off the other day..i'm terrible with buying loads of shiny new impractical shoes and then wearing the comfy ones to death!

O is a bit better..he's doing sad little sighs and is croaky voiced which is really sad..
I think he's passed it onto me as i've had a sore throat all day and my ears feel like they are stuffed with cotton wool.

beks/tex..sorry I couldn't make it..hope you all had fun..and please update us with any news from londoner!

looking forward to the 20th..enthusia try your best to come! perhaps we could meet at st.james park and go somewhere for lunch? or maybe the south bank around the rotyal festival hall..it's lovely there on suny days.

chacha..enjoy having your dad around..i bet he was desperate to see Z!

hope everyone is enjoying the sun..
I've got to go and do some bank things and stock up on formula which won't be fun with poorly O in tow!

Afternoon!

Blazng hot again, we've come in for a cool down! The worse think about this heat is feeling dusty, sweaty and sticky from all the sun cream! But won't complain anymore - it'll be over before we know it!
Beks/Tex/Londoner - Hope you all had a nice day :) Ah Beks - LOL at your 'mute' child! You'll smile at that when he's 3 and talking the hind leg!
Bob - How's O today?
Took Jess to get weighed today seeing as she's 8 months on Sat! She's 16lb9oz - the 25th centile I think....
Oops, is that the time - time to pick dd1 up from school, she's been on a school trip to Sudbury Hall today, hope she's enjoyed it! Speak later :)

Rodeo · 08/06/2006 15:17

My computer clock is fast!
Got my AF back yesterday and it's awful! Not had one for about 15 months, sorry if this is TMI but it's pretty heavy - have to use Super Plus tampaxShock and they only last 2-3 hours at the most! Have to double up with pads. How are everyone elses? Can't wait for that injection that stops them altogether!!
Dropped Jess's last bedtime bfeed 2 nights ago too (well rather she did, she just wouldn't have it) my left boob is a bit lumpy and tender, hope it sorts it self out and doesn't turn into mastitis.....
oh and does anyone else forget how many scoops of formula you've put in whilst making bottles up? How annoying! What do you do? Tip it away or guess??
Chacha, hope you have a lovely day with your dad!
Right, really must get Bella now :)

babyonboard · 08/06/2006 15:28

rodeo - yes! i always do it..it should be so simple..lol
i now put the formula in first and then add water, so i can tip it back into the tub if i lose count..

OP posts:

sorry for being clueless.. i thought nat was the oldest..

OP posts:
tessasmum · 08/06/2006 16:54

Lovely afternoon here, now have 2 hot and sticky children tho - one asleep in the garden and one crashed out in front of a video after the request to 'collapse on the sofa Mummy' Think that could be one of my phrases Blush

Started Ash on a bottle of formula last thing in the evening 4 nights ago. Protested the first few nights but took it really well, from me, last night. Might be able to start thinking about the birthday meal I owe DH from February. Hasn't made Ash sleep through the night tho Sad

ChaCha - LOL at eating grass, we have had to fish Ash out of the flowerbeds so many times already that I've started taking the playpen outside!
I'm with you on the early waking too - 5.15am this morning and that was with a feed at 1am Shock I NEED more sleep!!!!!!!!!

BoB - hope O is feeling better and you're not feeling much worse.

BEKS - hope you had a good meet-up. The running and jumping on you thing isn't just boys believe me. Need to build up my strengh for when Ash starts it as he is a lot chunkier than his skinny sister!!!
Also surprised at the 'range of sounds' comments. Sometimes I think they just like to give you something to worry about!

GG - need to sort out Gymbabes for Ash. Never made it with Tessa tho she loved Tumbletots. Might have to wait until September tho and I've a feeling he won't be far off walking by then Shock May look out some other things too as I have one physical baby on my hands. Tessa was never this active!!

Rodeo - had forgotten about mastitis (blocked it out more like!) Had it as Tessa was dropping feeds (about where we are now) but the cure was much worse than the illness as AB gave me oral thrush which is the worst thing I have ever had. Note to self - investigate alternatives to AB for mastitis!

Beartime - if you are still lurking!! You asked about feeding Caleb whilst away. Not sure if this helps but Ash happily eats baked potato and cheese which is easy to get in restaurants here (not sure about the States) and on Saturday demolished a Tricolore salad (avocado, tomato and mozzarella). He also helped his Daddy with his smoked salmon and asparagus pasta but that probably isn't an AK recommendation Grin

Need to get tea out of the fridge soon - fed them both salmon and avocado pasta last night and they loved it (this baby hasn't refused anything yet) Made enough for tonight so just need to chop avocado. I do like simple meals Grin

ChaCha · 08/06/2006 17:39

Hi girls,

Reading through all of today's posts and everyone sounds so happy and in such high spirits :) What a lovely catch up.

Rodeo - We do it all the time. I had to start counting out loud because I'd forget and end up tipping it down the sink, it's a waste but I guess better to be safe than sorry. His milk is a bit pricey so I had to try hard to focus, why I would go into a world of my own when doing the bottles I'll never know!

BoB - Poor little O, I actually 'Awwwwed' out loud when I read your post. Sending you both cyber sympathies. Nice of you to ask about Grandad, he is besotted with the LO but thinks he looks more like his other grandad now than him, lol.

I gave LO some mash potato and swede mixed with puree carrot and he seemed to like it. Would like to try something new. When can I start him on the hummus and snacks? What snacks do you give your babies?

Oh BoB - Sorry to be rabbling on about a paddling pool by the way, might have been a little insensitive but feel free to jump on the coach and spend the day with us here - I'll reserve you a poolside seat :o

Love M&Z
