Morning, Chacha thanks for your message, Tom had a much better night last night although we did have to keep him topped up on Nurofen for him to get any sleep.

Thankfully now the eardrum has burst he is a much happier little boy and back to the smiley baby we know and love, I just feel really guilty for not spotting it quickly enough and that he had to go through so much pain first.

I think Rodeo meant that you might as well face it, your house is never ever going to be the same again, you can buy all the things to keep them in so you can do the tidying but the minute you let them out again the house will be wrecked.

From what I've found the older they get the worse it gets, so lower your standards now then you won't feel a failure later Grin

The Little Mo reference was for Eastenders where she kept giving the baby Medised/Nurofen etc to make him sleep so she could get five minutes peace but took it all too far.

Right best go and get the monsters ready as dh is going out at lunchtime so I only got up half an hour ago - hooray! Speak to you all later Beks

browniechick · 03/06/2006 12:34

Morning All - hope you are all out enjoying the sunshine. Beks - glad to hear your little T is on the mend.
Our little T was a poorly solider in the night - he woke up with another really full, loose nappy (sorry if tmi!) he has had lots of upset tummies since yesterday - assuming a tummy bug or something. He seems ok in himself, but has the most awful red raw bottom & nappy rash, and lots of "loose" movements. He ate lots of brekkie this morning (half a weetabix, petits filous & half his usual bottle of milk). Have sent dh out to get him some dioralyte (sp?). He has had around 2oz of this so far, and is now asleep upstairs. Not sure at what point to get him to a DR though? Might just keep his food plainish today? Milk, petits filous and perhaps some cheesy leeks this afternoon for tea? See how he fairs. My heart goes out to him - he must have had awful tummy ache - and not been able to tell us. He seems better today, but time will tell - I hope it gets out of his system soon.

Hope everyone else is well.

Diege, your holiday requested is duly noted and logged - have a fab time, and see you when you get back. (It will take you another week to catch up with the posts I should think!!)

Speak later

Brownie & Thomas

ChaCha · 03/06/2006 13:15

Hi girls,

Thanks Beks - I understand now, duh! :) Yeah, so right, have found that going to bed having loaded dishwasher, washing machine, breakfast things on tray ready etc. really makes for a good start to the next day. I am finding new ways around it all everyday. What an exciting life :o

Brownie - Hope T is feeling better. Let us know.

DH found an old dummy in car yesterday when cleaning it, brought it in, left it on table and MIL gave it to LO to get him to sleep Shock She was so upset when I told her we haven't used one in months and that it must have come from some crevice somewhere. DH's fault for not binning it I suppose, men!!

Have a question. Have been giving LO filtered water for past few days since we started the water drinks. MIL said i should be boiling until he's at least 9mths. Have done a bit of research and seems okay post 6mth mark. Do you think this is okay? He doesn't seem affected by it.

Better shoot off, the pool is filling and DH is entertaining LO while I 'go and get his sun cream!!' What a lovely day it is!!

Oh, GG - Hope all is well today and that you and your LO's, DH etc. are enjoying lovely weather.

Happy Hols diege x

GarfieldsGirl · 03/06/2006 15:08

Hiya girls!!

Just having a few minutes inside as the shade is rapidly disappearing in the garden. Owen and DP on the floor playing with.......you guessed it LEGO!!!!! Legoland was chocka yeasterday, last day of 1/2 term and lovely weather, I guess it was inevitable (sp?). Yes BEKs, that hill is a killer! Was lovely tho knowing car was right outside the entrtance and not another half hour walk away. Its a lot bigger than when I last went, but I think it had only been open about 6 months then. Owen now wants his birthday party at Legoland, yeah right, thats gonna happen!! Wink Little tip for anyone with in-car dvd, don't take a Fireman Sam one, you'll spend half the journey looking in your mirrors for fire engines!!!

Rodeo - lol! I'm sure Jess & Rose make a very cute couple!
Brownie - hope Thomas' botty/belly get better v soon. As for when to go to docs, only you know, I've learnt not to worry about 'wasting' their time.
BEKs - gld Thomas is a lot happier now Smile
ChaCha - yes we're having a good day thank you Smile, I'm sre you're all having fun splashing! Oooooh! at the dummy story Shock MIL must have felt terrible. I use Brita'd water too for making drinks, I thought it was 6mths that they needed it boiled 'til too.
I lke Diege's trick of avoiding putting shopping away! If only I could do that myself! Wink

Have a fab weekend girls, enjoy this lovely weather, and Rodeo, don't forget the suncream!

novadandypowder · 03/06/2006 16:20

geesh you ladies - I can't leave you alone for 5 minutes!

Please no-one else leave!

Just been skimming as far too busy with pampering/sunshine/too much yummy food etc..but I see that BoB has a new enterprise so will look into that when I'm back, and good name for the new thread Oz.

Am learning a lot of lessons about travelling with a baby which I'm sure I'll share on my return, but the Quinny is going up for sale!!!

Karmamother · 03/06/2006 22:17

Hi all.

What happened?? I leave you for a week & it's all changed!! And FAR too many posts to read.

Bob, great thread name!!

GG Really sorry to hear about your dp. It can't be easy living with an alcoholic, especially when you have kids.

Beks, sorry again for not ringing you. If I was brutally honest I'd say BB was partially responsible. DP on nights Sun & Mon so I shall try & give you a call then.

Diege, poor you!! We should all come to your house for a pox party!!

Well, I'm getting over my brother's death. We buried his ashes in Mum's grave last Thursday which was a bit wierd. There was only his wife, MIL, son & his gf, & I there. I had Ella with me & she kept making these hilarious noises, blowing raspberries & singing. It certainly cheered us all up. Then the funeral guy turned up 20 mins late with this mini coffin. I had this idea of an urn-type thing. Anyway, it was placed in the hole & we all stared at it for 5 mins & that was that. No ceremony or sadness, just a feeling of drawing a line under the whole thing, IYSWIM.

On a happier note, Ella is still peachy. Apart from today when I'd driven all the way into York to find she'd vomited profusely (think Exorcist) all over herself. I'd forgotten her change bag & the canopy for her carseat so I could neither change her nor take her to some shops (it was extremely hot today, she'd have burnt without the canopy). So I drove to Mothercare, bought her a gorgeous outfit, changed her into it & pottered round there.....still smelling of vomit.Blush

Off to bed now. I shall try & post more frequently, I do liss you all when I don't pop in. Hi to everyone I've not mentioned.

Karmamother · 03/06/2006 22:19

Oops, MISS you all!

BEKsmum · 03/06/2006 23:01

Hey Karma good to see you, if I'm honest I've been meaning to call you all week too but have been watching celebrity X factor - I don't know what's worse Grin

Only a quickie from me as I'm trying to stay awake as dh has been out on the lash all day so is in no fit state to do the night feed tonight and is bound to snore like a pig for the rest of the night - grrrr. He did however get home a lot earlier than I expected saying he got drunk to quick and hurled - what a waste of money - men can't live with them, can't have them put down.

Had a great day today, took the boys to the extreme sports show on my own, all very impressive, lots of fit young men strutting their stuff, all very nice I'm sure, but in all honesty it just made me feel old Shock

We're supposed to be taking the boys to the coast tomorrow by train as the car is playing up, should be good although if it is as hot as it was today, I'll be buying myself a cap as I think I tried to give myself sun stroke today as there wasn't a bit of shade anywhere, the boys were fine, hats, suncream etc it was just me that didn't do so well - isn't that always the way!

Right off to watch the rest of Daredevil, speak to you all tomorrow, hope you are enjoying the good weather now it's here, it's just a shame I'm allergic to the heat, so I just lurve the summer - NOT Grin Beks

beartime · 03/06/2006 23:27

GG - don't worry, s'ok Smile

browniechick · 04/06/2006 12:15

Hey All - it's a lovely day here again! Had nice night for evening out at a friends bbq last night (my mum& dad had T overnight).
Thomas is currently asleep in garden! Mum & Dad took him over to A&E last night - having phoned emergency Docs number. He was still having really loose nappies, and was screaming before bed - so they thought best to phone and were advised to go to A&E - an appt had been made for them to see a Dr, and they managed to get in earlier as it wasn't too busy. The Dr that saw him, looked at his ears, listened to his chest, took temp etc and checked for de-hydration.
He wasn't de-hydrated, and the Doc said it was most likely a virus he'd picked up (he still has a runny nose too) He said main thing was to try and get lots of fluids in him - (he's not too keen on the dioralyte!) he suggested flat lemonade - to see if he would take that. He has had some brekkie this morning, but then had loose nappy (sorry tmi!) and he has had a bit of mashed banana too. Will try him with some beef dinner later. Doc advised to steer clear of petits filous whilst upset tummy, cos dairy feeds the tummy bug. (Obv can't avoid dairy totally in a baby this young! as milk is still main source of vits etc).
Anyway he is ok in himself generally, so he can't be too poorly I'm guessing - so hopefully he'll be 100% by tomorrow.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine! Hopefully it is still nice tomorrow (so far all my Mondays off have been wet!!).

Glad you are picking up Karma. Think Ella must have known that her little cute raspberries were called for! A message from you brother perhaps!? Wink

Anywya, will give you an update on T later.

Brownie & Thomas

Rodeo · 04/06/2006 12:41

Morning :)
Lovely day here too, going to be pretty nice all week too (with the exception of Weds) according ot the countryfile report!
Hope T gets much better soon Brownie :) How is he in himself? How is your T now too Beks? Are his AB working now? Kisses to them both! x x x
Karma, nice to see your post, good to see I'm not the only one with baby sick trauma! Glad things are beginning to feel less raw for you, having children around is a much needed tonic at times like these, Ella sounds wonderful - when are we going to get to see some pics of her? If you can't do that then a quick update/discription (see ours below!) of her would be lovely :)
Had an emotional past few days, my granma nearly died on Friday night from heart failure. My aunty Margaret spent the night with her (as gran was v.tearful asking her not to go) and she noticed her BP had plummetted and HR had shot up. She's a ward sister herself so knew to alert the staff. She told Margeret she was dying, Margaret said 'no you're not - not tonight!' to which she replied 'well maybe tomorrow then or the next day'. Anyway, seems she's hanging on by a thread. Grandad was telling her yesterday how much he loved her, how much he always has and always will :( AND it was their diamond wedding (60th) anniversary yesterday too, they got a telegram from the queen. Going to visit her later.
Right, enjoy the weather everyone (although saying that it's seems to have clouded over a bit here!) speak later! x x x

Rodeo · 04/06/2006 12:49

Beks - 'men, can't live with them, can't have them put down' LOL Grin
Extreme sports show - phew, no wonder you were feeling hot Wink on your own indeed!!! (you could have asked us along Grin)
Read posts again - sorry, seems T & T are doing a lot better (your poor parents Brownie!), they can keep the kisses though!

ChaCha · 04/06/2006 14:39

Hi girls,

Will try and post this now as LO's new game is to throw everything out of chair, look at it and then cry! He now grabs spoon out of my hand, cries if I don't let him have it and ends up as he is now covered from his hair to his toes in orange gunk!!

Rodeo, will post u a msg later, now have the orange farticus in my lap x

novadandypowder · 04/06/2006 14:58

thought i should update on Nat Nat as everyone else is....

now 7.5 months (that .5 makes all the difference), been rolling back to front for about a month and mastered front to back yesterday. Not crawling but getting very frustrated by this fact, and no teeth. On 3 meals a day plus snacks, very good with finger foods and today had her first taste of chocolate in the form of a choccy spread sarnie (thanks Diege Wink). She makes me laugh everyday and has a very set idea of what she wants. Seems to be good at opening drawers in computer desks!

BEKsmum · 04/06/2006 20:08

Evening girls

Rodeo sorry to hear your gran is so poorly, hope she finds the strength to pull through this nasty patch, with a husband like hers it sounds like she has a lot to live for and she has you of course Smile Wow a telegram from the queen, I didn't really think they did that, very cool. 60 years what a fantastic achievement.

By the way re the sports show, a girls got have some perks when she's left on her own hasn't she and oh how I love sunglasses, you can look for so much longer Grin Perhaps the next one should be our official meet up, there must be a show in the middle of the country at some time this year Wink

Nova are you back from holiday already? Or are you posting from sunny Greece still?

Chacha, lol at the orange farticus. You know that this game never ends now don't you, 'cos you fell for it, you picked it up when he threw it - think they call that cause and effect don't they or should that be ha ha got mummy at it again Grin

Brownie hope T is on the mend soon, must have been a nightmare for your parents last night but at least you knew he was in very good and experienced hands with Nanny & Grandad.

Twinkle so when are you on holiday then? Grin

Have been to Brighton for the day today, had a really nice time. Lol I paid a fortune to a fortune teller today, apparently I'm gonna live till I'm 90 Shock My husband is devoted to me for all eternity, someones going to try to steal him from me, but I'll see them off, then someone else is going to try to steal me from my dh - yeah right as long as his guide dog fancies me first Grin.
I'm buying a house abroad and I haven't had the best part of my life yet, apparently it can only get better Grin I knew that!!!

Right best go and get the munchkins to bed as it's back to school tomorrow, hooray for surviving another half term just the dreaded 6 weeks to look forward to now.

Speak to you all later Beks

Karmamother · 04/06/2006 21:05

Evening all.

Here is our update. Ella is 6 months old, is having 3 meals a day & as many booby feeds as she can weedle out of me! She has a dream feed at 11pm & usually wakes at 3am for a top-up then wakes at 6ish. She loves her door bouncer & will spend hours in it! She can roll back to front both ways but not the other way yet. No sign of crawling (yay!!) or teeth. Loves looking at her hands & does a very regal wave. (showing off, I think) I'm back at work doing part-time hours & DP is childminding Shock. Will NOT be TTC as we think that more 4 kids between would be a tad greedy. DP having his, ahem, little op next month. ("Hey, less of the little!!" DP)

Right, bangers & mash ready. Catch you all later.

browniechick · 04/06/2006 21:49

Hello! What a pants night of telly! (DH watched Top Gear too). Just focussing on the fact that it is the season finale of Prison Break tomorrow night - 2 episodes back to back!!!! yey!

Well, T is in bed asleep - he is still ok in himself (although has slept quite a bit today) still no firm poos yet (sorry, tmi!) and he is not really eating that much - but am guessing he's thinking, hhm if I eat that, then I'm-a-gonna-be-pooing-again real soon! so have not worried too much about his lack of apetite, and am making sure he has his bottle feeds, and the occasional bit of mashed banana, as much water/fluids as he will take (not that much) and rusk mashed with milk. Am hoping the sleep is helping his little body get back to normal and that he is better tomorrow - fingers crossed

Rodeo - sorry to hear that your Gran is so poorly Sad. But how wonderful that your Grandad still feels that way after 60years of marriage - gives us all hope hey! Thoughts are with you.

Here's to another nice day tomorrow - and hope that all poorly-woorly babies are better by then.

Lots of love to you all.....

Brownie & Thomas

ChaCha · 04/06/2006 22:21

Back again, LO asleep at last!

Rodeo - That was lovely for them, bet they were really chuffed with telegram. Sorry to hear that Gran is still poorly but hoping that she'll be better.

Beks - Brighton, sounds lovely. We had a nice afternoon here so started to refill the PP only to return home to the start of rain! That was not forecast!! Grrr.. My coach pulls in at Victoria but can also make stop at Marble Arch, Edgeware Road, etc. I keep meaning to post on Y group to brainstorm.

Brownie - Glad T is a tad better. Your parents were really alert and must be great knowing that you're leaving him in such safe and capable hands. I'm only beginning to slowly realise that my parents and IL's are getting on and need step by step instructions on things .. maybe I'm just too OTT, who knows. Are you still on AK recipes? How's it going? A diet of banana, apple etc. is supposed to be good for diarhoea right? Beginning of book, can't remember exact words.

Karma, Twinkle, L&S Mum - Hi there! :)

Nova - Are you back then? Or are you just missing the thread too much? Whatever, hope you're enjoying/enjoyed a lovely holiday.

TMI I know, but a certain part of my anatomy has disappeared Shock What has happened ladies? It's been a month since I stopped b/f but OMG what has happened to me.....Is this normal?

Farticus is living up to new found name. Did one today that shocked us both and then had the cheek to look at me with a face of innocence!!

Hayfever is v.bad today. Anyone else suffering?
Bye for now, sorry if massive post. Have been deprived of internet time for a few hours x

Karmamother · 04/06/2006 22:59

Chacha, what do you mean by a certain part of your anatomy has disappeared?? Do you mean literally or figuratively? I'm sure you don't mean lack of AF because IIRC you've been having them already. I'm intrigued. Tell me more & remember, I'm a nurse so nothing shocks me.

ChaCha · 05/06/2006 08:46

LOL :o Sorry Karma, in a nutshell - I no longer have the chest that I used to :(
