Hello All, Just got back from Brownies - and am EXHAUSTED after first day back (at work, and Brownies after Easter!)!!! Didn't sleep very well at all last night - nervous about starting I guess, so was shattered when I got there at 8:30 this morning!! Everyone was lovely, as they always are, and one guy gave me a big hug and made me get all emotional, had to hold those tears back!! The team I work with are all so lovely, it makes it much easier.
I did miss Thomas though, and kept thinking about him, even though he was with my Dad, and he's had him loads before - just the thought of being at work and not being with him for most of the day I suppose.
Surprisingly, also missed you guys and being able to MN whenever I felt like it! Damn that pesky work thing!!!!!! Grin

Diege, fingers crossed for your first day back on Friday.

Hope everyone else is ok, and porrly people are on the mend (both big and small!)

Hey Nova - No need to lie low. I've been all on my ownsome today and I'm sick too, boo hoo! [cries into cup] Come on, keep posting.

GG - Will await your email. Just out of interest, why don't you like him lying on back?

Bear - Yes, agree, is amazing how the day can pass you by on here. TBH, BoB mentioned this too, sometimes post too much PI on here amongst other things. I had to take a break from it all a while back. I will post something about my thoughts on this in our Y Group.

Brownie - Well done for surviving your first day back. Bet T got the biggest hug ever! Here's to a happy working week [clink]

Diege - Nice day out and shopping too! Lovely. What is wrong with Libby Diege? Why is she sick? Did I miss something?

DS now rubs his ear when he's tired...it's soooo lovely. He chuckles when I tickle his feet too. I can get him to sleep when he's tired by doing 'tired eyes' he copies them straight away and when I open mine his are firmly closed! Has been a good day.

Bye for now x

BEKsmum · 25/04/2006 21:22

Evening girls

Just a quick one from me as in the midst of wrapping lucky dip party bag pressies for Sunday.

Chacha, glad to hear you're feeling a wee bit better. Did you get the e-mail?

Karma - bloody HV's drive you nuts Grin Hope dp gets better soon.

Brownie well done you for surviving your first day back, I bet Thomas will give you the biggest smile ever in the morning to show you how proud he is of you too.

LilJ we contacted a company called The Baby Naming Society. They send out loads of info and are really very good. Their address is Yeoman's Cottage, Kerswell Green, Kempsey, Worcester WR5 3PF and their tel num is 01905 371070.

You can also get Naming Ceremonies done at the registery office so it is more formal if this is what you want, we wanted it fairly laid back. If you put your e-mail address on the yahoo site I'll send you a copy of my ceremony if you like.

Quick update, have changed the godparent, hopefully without causing too much offence, I think she understood. Unfortunately my friend is back in hospital again after suffering another heart attack after the stent they put in last week blocked. Haven't heard from her dh today but hopefully they have operated on her again today and she should be ok now - it's horrible!

Right off to carry on wrapping and playing with the new toys we bought to entertain the kids. Speak to you all later Beks

Karmamother · 25/04/2006 21:36

Evening all.

DP enjoyed his Big Macs this afternoon. Then I read in the paper that there are 450 cals in just one so he's had a fair amount there. The nurses have been telling him off for not eating much. I should've told him I'm the only nurse who can tell him off.Grin

After I put Ella in her cot this evening I went back after half an hour to check on her & she was lying the other way! Nothing will be the same again, ha ha. I think I'll have to stop swaddling her now, she'll end up with it wrapped around her neck at this rate. Don't know if anyone else has swaddled this long (22wks) but it helps her get off to sleep really easily. Also, if she's not wrapped up, when I put her back in after a feed she still does that arm flailing thing which makes her cry.

Beartime, I found that thing & I was going to email MNHQ to say I was interested but on reflection, I decided against it. She's taking the EBM quite well with a spout now. If she wasn't taking it at all I'd have nothing to lose.

Brownie, pour yourself a glass of wine, put your feet up & relax.... you've earned it!

Diege, have you thought about asking the other wonderful MNers about Libby's pattern of sickness? I'm sure someone out there will know lots about it.

Rodeo, yes he's on IV antibiotics. They started him on a broad-spectrum one which will kill most bugs but now he's on 2 separate ones which will definately kill all known germs!

BoB, a trip to the shopping centre sounds good. When I lived in Newcastle I used to spend most days off in the Metrocentre. Even if you don't spend much it's nice to look at all the pretty things in the window.

Bye for now.

novadandypowder · 25/04/2006 21:37

seriously though I've been a busy bee - sunday we had our pics done (the guy had never done babies before, so that was very funny), and yesterday I had my nan staying with me as a kind of happy birthday/spend some time with your great grand daughter thing. Was supposed to have a swimming class today (though don't even get me started on the daft cow that runs the swimming class bookings) but they muffed up the time, so been making more purees Smile.

LilJ - I go to Aquababies at Kensington Leisure Centre, but although the teachers are fab the organisation at the business end is dire.

Chacha - Is this your first AF since birth? Do you find it really horrible? I've had 4 AF's since birth and they're really bad. Wouldn't like to combine it with a sickness bug though - poor you.

Diege - Hope Libby stops chucking up soon, does she still sleep through or do you have to feed her if she's throwing up her bedtime feed?

BoB - very Shock at your email!!! We want details through the Y group (or hotmail me).

GG - Hope you've got over the shock of your LO's 'wee wee' problem, and that it gets sorted soon.

Also, Nat sleeps on her back as she still can't roll over. She's getting very frustrated by the whole thing.

Brownie - well done on surviving your first day at work Grin. Bet T gets even more cuddles and kisses now. I find I'm a lot more cuddly with Nat when she's been with the childminder (want to remind her who loves her the most).

Karma - Get well wishes to your DP Smile.

I was impressed at BEKs' T doing his standing trick when I was holding him at the meet (as I said a million times to BEKs). Maybe it is a boy thing, although Nat now adores her bouncer and really throws herself around in it.

Rodeo - good idea for the new thread Grin

Must go and control DH - he's shouting at the Arsenal match on TV (rolls eyes)

Karmamother · 25/04/2006 21:48

Crossed posts.
Beksmum, I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. God, this must be scaring her (& her family) to bits. Glad you navigated successfully around the Godparent issue. Will try & give you a ring soon. I really enjoy our chats & now I know what you look like! I shall endeavour to add some pics to the yahoo site so you know what I look like. Oh dear, this makes us sound like some dodgy pair of internet saddos!! I may decide to upload some photos of a model instead of me.Grin

Nova, glad to see you've not done a runner.

Chacha, how cute with the 'tired eyes' thing. I've tried that with Ella. It worked on my cat so I reckon it'll work on her but not as successfully as you!

Right, def going now.

Diege · 25/04/2006 21:52

That's awful BEKS about your friend - fingers crossed for successful op. Bet you're pleased to have sorted the godaparent thing out Smile, mustr be a relief.
Hi KARMA, thanks for advice. Think I may ring HV again tommorrow if no improvement. She does seem so well and happy in herself, so just thinking she's taking a while to get over this bug. Oh, on swaddling, I still do underarm swaddling for naps. Makes her feel really secure, without worry of her overheating/pulling covers over head etc...Maybe something to try? CHACHA: you do sound happy to day, full of the joys of motherhood Smile; makes all the hard slog worth while. Thanks for asking after L - just a prolonged bug I think Sad. BROWNIE: brilliant!!!Sounds a great work environment; makes all the difference if the people you work with are lovely Smile. Can you believe you have to do it all again tommorrow, or are you still on a 'high'? Hi BEAR, good to hear from you again, not like you to miss a day, was starting to get wprried Grin.
RODEO: read in the Guardian (yes, THE GUARDIAN!!!; ie. not heat, grazia etc, though lots to commend the later this week (ie. stuff on poor Nicole, nice Topshop stuff..but I digress!!)that Jade actually completed 21 miles, before collapsing!!Ha!!
Hi to everyone else, NOVA, GG, BOB, lilJ Smile,
Diege Smile

Diege · 25/04/2006 21:57

soz for horrendous spelling!! Must start 'previewing'!! Sounds busy weekend NOVA; know what you mean about smothering with kisses when away from bubs Grin. On night front, I've started giving L a top up again at 10.30ish while she's sick, to see her through (always v.hungry, and never sicks that one thank god!)Missed it one night and she woke starving at 2 Shock. Not risking thst again!

ChaCha · 25/04/2006 22:02

Last one for me I think (for the day that is!)

Nova - Hi :) I was brought up just opposite that leisure centre and as mentioned before have lovely memories. The Pig and Whistle, a corner shop for 'gobstoppers' and St.Marks spring to mind :)

Nova - I'd like to arrange an afternoon out in London. DH is fine about me catching train down now that he's seen new meet up pics and that we've been chatting for over a year :) How about Regents or Hyde Park? Could many of us make a couple of hours?

Nighty all x

beartime · 26/04/2006 07:16

Karma - I still swaddle during the day for same reason as you, but I use a cotton sheet and wrap it tightly with lots underneath, also leave one hand out so he doesn't struggle to get it out himself. I tried without but he doesn't sleep very well. At night I've never swaddled cos I was too scared of SIDS but he feeds rt b4 bedtime sdo that calms him down.

Diege - hope Libby gets better - it does sound weird - is it anything to do with weaning?

babyonboard · 26/04/2006 08:32

morning all..

I haven't swaddled O since he was about a month old..he'd go crazy if I tried now..he hates being treated like a 'baby' unless he's really sleepy..lol

one thing lately I've noticed is that he giggles all the way through his post bath massage..doesn't have the desired effect of getting him relaxed as he seems to find it ticklish/hilarious and gets himself over excited.

nova - please post your pics on the yahoo site! and i still want to see your bridesmaid dress!

chacha - hope you're feeling better today! Please do come to london, it'd be lovely to see you!

karma - I love the shopping centre these day..much easier to navigate a pram around than london streets and plenty of baby changing facilities..

Diege - hope L is better today..enjoy your last few days off!

Well best go tidy up..we've got a structural surveyor coming today as some nasty cracks have appeared around the house..hopefully he won't tell me to get out fast before it collapses..lol!

I'll post details of the email on yahoo..be warned, it's a long and crazy story!

babyonboard · 26/04/2006 08:37

sorry brownie- glad the first day went okay, it'll only get easier..and like diege said, how lovely to be able to take lunch/tea breaks!lol

Diege · 26/04/2006 09:29

Morning everyone Smile. Lovely sunny day again here - summer has certainly arrived in Warrington Smile. Libby's first morning at nursery tommorrow, for an extended 'try out'; gives me a chance to have a driving lesson, plus blow-dry Grin. BOB: how cute that O giggles through his massage; the giggling will make him sleepy though I bet. Sounds like you have one hapooy baby there Grin.
Not started weaning yet BEAR, as she's shown no interest in food yet (tried a few weeks ago). She's nearly 6 months though, so when better will start. Here's hoping for a sick free day, if only for the sake of our carpets!

Diege · 26/04/2006 09:30

meant 'happy' not hapooy lol!!!

babyonboard · 26/04/2006 11:06

They'll huff and puff but won't blow our house down...
thank god, the cracks are just very old plaster crumbling apart, not structural.
apparantly our flat is built over a river that was filled in in the 1900's, and in the 70s a massive hole opened in the road and a bus fell into it! eek

pretty interesting fact though..who'd have thought.

it's lovely and sunny here too diege!i'm going to the clinic to check O's weight, then gotsomeone coming to do a quote for our new floors, then might go to tate modern, hooray.

browniechick · 26/04/2006 12:32

Hi All - thanks for all your wishes on first day back! It was lovely that you were all thinking of me.
Well, just sneaking on quickly during my lunch break - yes, how nice to be able to have HOT cups of tea and an uninterrupeted lunch!!!!
Will only make it a quick one, incase I get sprung! Wink
Hope all los are well - T gave me a big smile when I saw him last night. Ooh he is so munchy!!
Diege - hope Libs is better and that she gets on ok at nursery.
BoB will look forward to reading the email saga on Yahoo!
You guys are really good friends (odd since I've never met any of you!!) and have really helped me get through each week!
So thanks to one and all.
Speak later when I get home!

babyonboard · 26/04/2006 14:17

O has gained weight..so pleased!
Now I'm just waiting for this guy to come out and measure our floors.....hohumm..
I've posted details on yahoo..be warned it's very long and might not make much sense!lol

LaylaandSethsmum · 26/04/2006 14:37

Bob Shock at that e-mail! Its awful that she could wish those things on you all and call O names!ShockShockCan you get the posts with your email on deleted and change your email? She sound like a total unhinged mentalist!!

On a happier note though met up with Rodeo again today caught up on all the news from the London meet - up! Had a coffee and a chat then a mooch round the shops v civilsed i'd love to stay on mat leave forever!!

Glad work is going ok Brownie bet it feels like you've never been away doesn't it?

All the best for tomorrow Diege sure it will be fine!Smile

LaylaandSethsmum · 26/04/2006 14:38

Sorry Diege meant friday keep thinking its thursday today!!

goldenoldie · 26/04/2006 15:50

Brownie - did you enjoy work? I had to go into work today and loved it.

Maternity leave not over till mid-June, but now (secretly) wish I was going back sooner! Made me realise I have been a bit bored at home.

Chacha - would love to meet up with you all again, but Regents or Hyde Park are a bit of a trek for me.

Disaster - pead. told me to start weaning Ezra as it will help with his reflux. I'm so lazy, I wanted to wait for another month till nanny started!

Diege · 26/04/2006 16:25

OMG BOB, what a nutter!!!Actually far worse than I'd imagined it was going to be ShockWhat must possess someone to spend the time and energy actually composing such a e-mail??!!! There's quite a lot there that's quite threatening - she's lucky you're not taking it further.
GO - good to hear from you;so good that you are looking forward to going back SmileDesperately NOT wanting to go here, though it's just a natural reactioh to only having one day left I think (plus they aren't exactly what you would cxall the frinedliest bunch in the world, which doesn;t help!!Sad).
Right, have put off ginger biscuit making with dds for long enough...wish me luck!

babyonboard · 26/04/2006 17:02

diege..so true!she's not worth worrying about though, i think..
for some reason me and dp attract all sorts of crazy friends..maybe it's that age old thing of artists having a mad side..lol
i considered getting my posts deleted but theres no pointnow..shes blocked from my email and otherwise i'll just ignore her.
the girl in question actually did a film workshop with lars von trier then got offered a job on one of his films..but missed her all expenses paid trip to sweden (plus job opportunity for a budding film maker of a lifetime) because she was drunk in a tent in derbyshire..grr.
i'm secretly hoping she'll come on here and 'troll' us all so we can give her what for ..lol

g.o - bet you are looking forward to work..you musthave had none stop chaos for the last few months! any ideas for the evening meet up? i can get 50%discount at 'ruby blue' but it is pretty lively.

l&smum - nice to hear from you!mmm..shopping and coffee..my favourites!

beartime · 26/04/2006 18:08

ha ha golden at you having to wean Grin

novadandypowder · 26/04/2006 18:24

quick somebody slap me I've become a puree militant!!!

BoB - I'm speechless at that email Shock

Pics to come tonight, watch this space.

beartime · 26/04/2006 19:05

how does weaning help reflux anyway? Apparently my brother used to chuck loads up and not sleep at night, and then they put him on rusks and banana or something at 6 wks and he stopped vomiting and slept thru!
