novadandypowder · 01/05/2006 09:32

yeah we use Nelsons teething powders, although I'm not sure when I was using them she was actually teething, think she was waking out of thirst Blush. Since making sure she gets lots of water/juice during the day she doesn't wake at night now. Saying that she's in a really weird mood today and her cheeks are very hot and flushed and she's drooling for England so have given her some powders before her nap. Not sure if they work but we've got an amber teething necklace, depends how 'alternative' you want to be Wink

twinkle1 · 01/05/2006 10:50

Morning
Diege suggest a date for meadow hall:)
I hope libby is feling better!!!
More advice please:) if we go ahead with number 4 would you have a small gap??? i have 2yrs 2 months between ds1 & dd1 but i wanted to know if a even smaller gap works???? any of you have small gaps??????
thanks twinkle & josh

novadandypowder · 01/05/2006 11:28

sorry, am I the only childish one who sniggered at 'any of you have small gaps?'

Diege · 01/05/2006 12:21

Grin; yes, I have small gap in both senses of the word, and long may it continue!!!Grin. 16 months between dds 1&2. Was planned this way, and they are the best of friends; same interests in toys/tv/activities etc, and able to play mad imagination games without the elder one getting too bossy and 'know it all'!!! What dd1 might have lost in sole attention (though she was at nursery at 4 minths anyway) she certainly made up for in companionship Smile. The so-called 'best' gaps are either 22 months and under, or 4 years plus apparently, though I think it's a bit loopy to come out with that kind of stat; so much dependent on whole family dynamic, personalities etc!!! Good luck whatever you choose!
Re: Operation MeadowHall, how does Friday 19th of May sound???
Right, better get some stuff done. Weather is yuck..so cold Sad.
Speak later!
Diege Smile

Diege · 01/05/2006 12:22

Oh and RODEO, letters are written, addressed and ready to be posted Smile

GarfieldsGirl · 01/05/2006 14:19

Twinkle - I know how you feel, i'm thinking about 4 or 5, only prob is I need no.3 first! I really don't want 3, so i'm gonna have to decide fairly soon what i'm going to do.

Diege - poor Libby with her excema, it must be awful for babies, hope you find something that works well for her. Smile

L&S - We use dentinox gel adn the Nelsons powders. I think most chemists sell them.

Rodeo - I think it was you that asked about Surestart pack Blush. Only just finished looking through it. There was loads of info & newsletters etc about things they run, and homestart, city council etc. Unfortunately, everyything that looked interesting clashes with taking/pickng Owen up from school. S am going to contact Surestart Southsea, which is actually closer to me than Portsmoth ones anyway.

DP has his frame off tomorrow (was cancelled last week) only day surgery, boo/yay? That's not very nice is it, putting 'boo' first? Was hoping for a few days peace, but at least i don't have to ponce about back and forth to hospital and to McD's for his dinner.

I saw my midwife this moring. Smile She was visiting a new baby a few doors down from me, so i had torun out to say hello. It must be rare for them to see 'their' babies much older than a week/10 days.

Karma - how's dp doing now?

LaylaandSethsmum · 01/05/2006 17:24

19th May should be fine for me but will need to check mother's/MIL availability for Layla.

Seth still intermittently grumpy today now appears rashy! Dunno what it is doesn't look big enough for chicken pox but every man and his dig have had it round here over last month or so so wouldn't be at all suprised!!!Layla's had it at least!

Thanks for info on teething powders will get some and try. Whats the amber necklace Nova? Is it real amber? If so think might be a bit pricey for him to shove in his drooling mouth!!Smilexxx

novadandypowder · 01/05/2006 18:26

Copied from Green Baby website:

Amber Teething Necklace (gba001)
Traditionally used as a natural remedy for teething pains. Babies who wear these oval beads appear to stay much calmer and more relaxed. Made from fossilised tree resin from the Baltic, the beads have distinctive colours and cracks that catch and reflect the light, emitting a mildly analgesic radiation. Leave the stones in the sunshine to warm up and you can increase their power. Each bead is individually knotted and the necklace fastens with a screw-on amber clasp. As with all jewellery, a child should be supervised while wearing this necklace. Length 32cm.

Price: £16.99

twinkle1 · 01/05/2006 18:56

novadandypowder · 01/05/2006 19:03

Actually L&SM, it's what Nat is wearing in the nuddy pic on the Y group site

BEKsmum · 01/05/2006 20:59

Evening ladies,

Hope you've all had a good Bank Holiday weekend, sounds like we going to be having some good news on here soon from what you lot have been chatting about. I've been told by my dh we're not having any more lo's, but hey who says he gets a say in it!

GG Hope your dp gets on alright at the hopital tomorrow.

We've had a great weekend, Thomas' Naming Ceremony was lovely, he behaved like a perfect star as did Ben. The weather held for us although it was a bit cold but it meant that the kids could get out and play outside. Forgot to take my own camera so will post a couple of photo's on the yahoo site once friends send them to me.

Big news here we have a bottom tooth and the edge of a top tooth - hooray and with very little fuss in all honesty. Those asking about alternatives one I've used before is to allow my boys to chew on my silver bangle, it stays cold that bit longer and is hard enough but not too hard if you see what I mean. My original one bears the teeth marks of my nephew and Ben!

I'm also a bit like a cat on a hot tin roof now as the school places letter gets posted tomorrow so we will know where Ben will be going to school on Wednesday. The places are so hotly contested that I need you all to keep everything crossed for me!

Just to make you all laugh my sil & I managed to lose my mil in Bromley today - it took us an hour & a half to find her, she seemed to disappear in to a black hole in M&S, not even appearing when we put out a tannoy message for her. When we told Ben and his cousin who is also 4 they both rounded on her and said "Nanny you are very naughty for wandering off, how many times have you been told about that"

Sorry for the self absorbed post, just feeling really on top of the world this evening and very proud of my boys.

Hope you are all tucked up on the sofa with your men enjoying a nice glass of wine to round off the holiday weekend. Speak to you later BEks.

Rodeo · 01/05/2006 21:37

Evening!

Had a lovely day in Filey on the beach, but it was a bit chilly! It was a pre-birthday day out as it's my birthday on Wednesday!!

Diege/Twinkle/L&SM Just looked in my diary and 19th May is free for me :)

Glad yesterday went so well Beks! And little teeth :) aren't they growing up fast! And good luck with getting your school place this week!

Nat's amber necklace is lovely L&Smum, not too girly for a boy either. So glad you've told us where it's from too Nova :) I was too shy to ask in London!

Is anyone watching Wife Swap - those men are awful, I do not know which is worse! The man is a phycho!Shock

Diege, forgot to say I thought you were on about Alan SUgar hen you mentioned 'the badger' but I now know (courtesy of Grazia Grin) you meant the woman! I agree she is the best by far, but as Grazia puts it, I don't think Alan's man enough to take her on as the apprentice!

Also on the subject of telly - Disaster!! I agreed to work tomorrow night and I've realised that the 2nd series of Lost starts tomorrow! Argh! I'm relying on there being a repeat later in the week!

I don't get the 'small gap' thing Blush Is it rude? Is it another word for something else? It's obvious isn't it and I'm so thick!

OP posts:
Diege · 01/05/2006 22:39

yeahhh!! Friday 19th then for operation meadowhall the 2nd!! LOL RODEO and the 'gap'...oh come on how...NOVA??? shall I let you enlighten??? Grin Have a brilliant birthday on Wednesday!!Is it your 29th?? btw used to go to Filey every year with parents when little, staying in Scarborough; nice, but always very windy if I remember correctly!! L&SMUM, hope Seth is feeling a bit better. Rashes are associated woth teething apparently; lets hope it's not chicken pox!! Looking forward to seeing you again at MH - remember Seth and his strong little back, sitting up on my knee Smile. Will be good to meet you Yorkie!
GG: Hope DP is OK, though know what you mean about few days peace Grin. My DH is away next week for 3 nights; god knows how I'll get them all 'delivered; to nursery/ school before work!! Makes me even more desperate to pass my test!!
BEKS: so glad you had a great day!! Have you had your wine yet?Grin. Make sure you post piccies SmileAhh, proper teeth!!
Well, time to turn in...
Speak tommorrow if I can sneak on at work!!
Diege Smile

Rodeo · 01/05/2006 22:56

Is it another 'front bottom' tooth thing again?Grin Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Off to Topshop tomorrow for some new jeans and a few new tops for my birthday, I used to live in there before I had children! Just been on there brill website nd they've got some gorgeous things at bargonious prices Grin Fingers crossed they're in the shop too!

OP posts:
Rodeo · 01/05/2006 22:58

Oooh you're putting years on me Diege! I'll be 28! Have a good week at work :)

OP posts:
beartime · 01/05/2006 23:24

Hi everyone! Well dreamfeed is back for a few weeks anyway. Will start weaning on Friday as he will be 26wks then! As much as it looks like hard work I think I'm going to go the GF way cos its so confusing and she's the only one with the 'idiot's guide' IYKWIM! Grin

ChaCha - a sleeping bag would help with stuck limbs, tho' Caleb still wakes up screaming with his head against one side and his feet the other, 90degrees round. I'm reluctant to get a bumper tho'; cos of the SIDS risk. You could try e-bay - I just got one from there for abt a quarter of the new price.

ChaCha · 02/05/2006 01:36

Morning all, Thought I'd post before going to bed (at last).

Beks - It's great to hear you sound so chirpy. Sounds like a brilliant day, glad all went so well and really looking forward to seeing some pics :) Will email you at some point tomorrow, I tried the purple/blue sling and it was great, LO loved it and with my backpack too am sure I looked like a mountaineer! Have been aching though since returning home. My shoulder feels done in, not sure if this is the norm. Getting LO weighed again tomorrow, it's been a month, am sure he is getting too heavy!

Rodeo - Birthday girl, any plans for Wednesday? Hope you have a fab day. Do the kids make you cards? I remember making cards for my mum, I loved it.

Thank you for advice re: grobags. I have to admit that i've put him back in moses basket (that he's almost popping out of) and placing it in cot for peace of mind while we sleep. Will look at grobags this week. He's really turning into quite a character and has newly found obsession of wanting to smother himself inbetween cushions, side of sofa, whatever - he even chuckles when doing so!! Shock

Diege and Brownie - Have good working week.

GO - Are you back at work yet? Have you started the chore of weaning?

Right, best go and get some sleep or will be fit for nothing tomorrow.

Nighty night x

beartime · 02/05/2006 06:53

ChaCha - LOL on Z being quite a character - its funny just to watch them isn't it?

Also forgot to say Nova - congrats on Nat rolling over. Today I went in to Caleb's room at 6.30 cos he was crying, and he was doing press ups on his tummy - so he's finally figured out how to roll from back to front! But he obviously can't remember how to get back!

novadandypowder · 02/05/2006 09:06

Chacha - Nat would love to sleep with her head buried in things, but as a compromise I've got one of those raggy toys that look like a hanky with a head. She snuggles her face into it but it's not big enough to smother her. Maybe it's worth looking at that too?

Bear - Nat can't roll from front to back yet, so she starts to grizzle when she realizes it's not so much fun on her front. DH saw it yesterday and he was very chuffed.

babyonboard · 02/05/2006 09:09

morning all..

chacha..O and z really are similar!O loves pulling things over his face..whatever he can..including his jumpers..i have to keep a close eye on him. O is 5 months and 4 days now..so they are very close in age..

babyonboard · 02/05/2006 12:56

gosh..why did it all of a sudden become really quiet on here..
I miss the regular posts of goldenoldie , tex, and londoner of course..
plus enthusia! sorely missed!
and the newcomers that never were like edodgy...

I just had the biggest shock..we have one of those curved changing mats and O was on it in the middle of our bed while I went to the loo and to wash my face..i heard a huge yelp and dashed in to find him on the floor with the mat on top of him.
he giggled at me so It was all okay..but it's horrid to think it could have been worse.
my heart's still racing at the sight of him on the floor
must order that babydan playpen right now!

babyonboard · 02/05/2006 15:43

eeeeets oh so quiet ...ssssh ...ssshhhhh

Diege · 02/05/2006 15:58

Hi!!! boss in corridor so just a quikie!! BOB O sounds adorable; such a cutie giggling like that!! Sounds like he will be a good natured toddler, lucky you!
Soz Rodeo for ageing you GrinYou do realise that anything over the '6' in a decade is 'pre' the next one?? Ie, 26 is pre-30s, 36 is pre-40s!! (arrghh, that's me!!)
Right, best go. Time to head off home!
Speak later,
Diege

Rodeo · 02/05/2006 19:23

Wow, it has been quiet, just about to go to work - bums! Jess is really taking to those new bottles so starting to look forward to my weekend away, think she'll still hate her weekend with just daddy but it's him or nothing! She might come out with a new found love for him (fingers crossed!)

Meeting my sister in town for lunch tomorrow but apart from that not doing much for my b'day. I'm going for a meal with my mum, mum's partner & sis on Thursday evening for my mothers 50th, and I'm out for another meal on Sat night with the girls, as one of them is leaving to move to Sheffield, so I'll be all mealed out, yum :)

Poor Bob, on your own on this thread today, agree it has become very quiet - where are you all? Golden, Jenjam, Candi etc. come back! :)

Right better get ready....
