Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

Still got diarrhoea here! (DD, not me).

At least, it was getting better - back to being yellow coloured and longer gaps between poos - but green and runny again today, and nappy rash back. DD is so miserable tonight & I feel so sorry for her!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 14/09/2012 20:39

After going back to DD seven times since she went to bed, have finally put her down on her front. She's asleep now but sounds so raspy. Won't sleep tonight, for worrying, even if she does. Sad

Why are there no cold medicines for babies anymore?!

Flisspaps · 14/09/2012 21:23

Henrietta I think we'll put money into DS's account, and wrap up his 9-12 month clothes. DD was 9mo for her first Christmas and it completely passed her by!

newmummyvicky you can't spoil a baby by letting them sleep on you Wink Don't worry about that!

Jam have you tried Snufflebabe or Vicks on a cloth near the bed?

DS has been miserable and very dribbly today, I'm hoping it's teeth. I gave him ibuprofen and it seemed to help a little.

OP posts:
JambalayaCodfishPie · 14/09/2012 21:27

She's got snufflebabe on her chest and olbas oil in the cot. Sad

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 14/09/2012 22:19

If you are using own brands of vicks, check the age! I used one on DS1 that was from 4 months, then didnt check the age when I changed brands... Noticed quite a while later that they have different ages, and the one I'd been using (asda I think?) was for 3y+!!

DS1 is talking in his sleep and DS2 is snoring. Neither of them are too bunged up tonight :)

Oh and for xmas, i've got DS1 some duplo and a doctors set, but apart from that theyre both just having clothes. They'll get way too much off the rest of the family!!

Jellybellyrbest · 15/09/2012 01:00

Another household full of cold here. That's back to school for you! Not as bad as your LO Jam. Poor wee mite: I had a plug-in vaporiser for one of my older DD. Worth a try? It was Karvol. Always found that steaming (kettle on continous boil or v hot shower on for a bit in our small bathroom) helped too.

Marsh; that's a long time for diarrhoea. Hope it eases off soon...Have you used Metanium on nappy rash before? I think it's fab; one or two applications really take the hear out of a wee red shiny bottom.

Mainly thinking about what Santa will bring our older DDs. The lists change on a daily basis-mostly linked to bloody advertisements on TV. Em will have something small (and possibly passed down-though need to be sure it's not remembered. DD1 has a memory like an elephant!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 15/09/2012 10:13

We ended up on the sofa. Sad She slept better sat up a bit, but I really didn't like being there, it didn't feel safe so i was awake and I'm exhausted today.

On the plus side, DD1 slept well and seems much better today. Smile

VintageNancy · 15/09/2012 20:33

Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies. We are now on the mumsnet time zone! But hideously jet lagged - no idea when E will go to sleep. She was pretty good on the flight, slept about 70% of it. I wish I'd slept on the plane!!

hugandroll · 15/09/2012 20:41

Hi all hope the babies get better soon.

A has cut his first tooth just waiting for it to come up.

Found out today my grandmother has inoperable lung cancer. I won't clog up the thread with it as I'm going to post in another area but I'm gutted. I used to live with my grandparents and am so close with them. Just can't believe it.

newmummyvicky · 16/09/2012 09:48

hugandroll sorry to hear about your grandmother, I don't have grandparents but my dp nan has cancer too its so sad. Sending her my prayers! X

Horrible night here for new mummy, L was up at 11pm for a feed then up at 230 and stayed awake till 430, finally got her to sleep and dreading she would be up at 630, she slept till 8am. I'm pretty use to her going straight back of after her quick 15min feed. It was a bit of a shock, im pretty knackered now!
Had an email about a wonder week so must be that, or teething? :(

HenriettaChicken · 16/09/2012 12:42

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, Hug. We'll be thinking of you too...

A strange night for us here - but a great one! DS didn't settle till 9.30pm which is a little late for him - and I was worried he was going to stir, as he has been very dribbly, pink cheeks, and possibly a bit of a runny nose...

So we crept into bed at 11, trying desperately not to wake him and...he slept till 9am! He's never done that before!

Hoping this could become a pattern - but not expecting it.

Off to find some countryside to stroll through now...

JambalayaCodfishPie · 16/09/2012 13:13

Sending hugs hug.

We had a much better night last night, just a couple of get ups to help shift the phlegm of her chest. I'm feeling much better.

Just signed up for The Great Manchester Run - in May, very excited. I'm not a runner at all, but hopefully I will be!

Jellybellyrbest · 16/09/2012 13:33

Poor you & your Gran Hug, am so sorry to hear that. My MIL (is 83) & has been in & out of hospital recently. She's unwell again, but at home for now. It's all pretty stressful as we're the only family living in this country...I can really empathise & hope you're all doing ok for now.

Em aslp at 22.00, up at 01.00, 04.20 & 07.10. Am totally knackered
after 2w of this & erratic days. MIL being ill making life v stressful & it's bad timing coinciding with the new school year. Oh well...on a positive note, Em is sitting up for a minute at a time unaided now!! Quite suddenly actually! Believe in my heart that I can confidently start weaning as that was the last 'criteria' she had to fulfill before I was happy to go ahead without beating myself up mentally about harming her! She's had little tasters every few days over the past 10 days or so & enjoyed every mouthful so I think she'll happily embrace this next stage!

Jellybellyrbest · 16/09/2012 13:35

PITA iPhone!! Grrrrr...wanted to add a bit & it wouldn't let me!
Jam & whoever else's LO is full of cold/diarrhoea/is tired; hope you're all getting there & recovering!

Bearcrumble · 16/09/2012 16:18

Hug - V. sorry about your gran. x

Sorry for all the illness on thread as well.

Marianne has been a lot more moody the last couple of days (23 and a bit weeks, so in the right timeframe for the stormy period around wonder week 26) - she is usually settled by boob even when nothing else works but not yesterday. She just yelled and yelled - she is happy though if I take her out for a walk and she can look around. She's also been biting my nipple a bit - not that she has teeth yet but she'll latch on and then throw her head around still attached - painful. She is so strong - not crawling or sitting up for more than a second yet though, her thing is to flip onto her tummy when on the floor and then lift all her limbs up high like a skydiver... odd child. She tries to stand all the time when on laps and will attempt to throw herself off as well - you need a strong grip to keep her in place.

Thank God night time sleep seems ok. She doesn't have that wide-awake in the middle of the night thing and never did, if she wakes it's only for feeding and she will generally sleep from when I go to bed (between 9 and 11) until 4ish and then sleep again until 8. Sadly DS has decided to start waking at 6.

DH is being much better - today and yesterday he got DS up and let me lie in until she woke. We are going away for a weekend at the end of the month.

DS is enjoying nursery (3 afternoons a week). Settling in was last week so fingers crossed he continues to enjoy it when he is left for nearly 3 hours. It's a lovely place, we are so lucky to have it so close by.

I haven't read back everything - sorry. I will try to today.

newmummyvicky · 16/09/2012 18:08

I do hope this wonder week doesn't last for long, dd is 24wks.
bearcrumble L loves standing on people too. plus I've had a few nipple bites, only a couple of times, and she hasn't done it since! But now moans when boob is running low on milk and a wants to swap side, also she pulls my top when after a feed and massage my boob or fiddles with my top when feeding!

She tries to crawl off and down your body when U hold her and has mastered sitting, sometimes still falls to the side. Lots of moving backwards on the floor and round in a circle on her tummy. Looks like she is swimming, just can't lift stomach or gets legs under! She makers a mmmm mmmm sounds in fustration that she can't move forward- bless her.

hugandroll · 16/09/2012 21:20

Thank you all for your messages.

A loves sitting but can't really do it unaided for any more than a few seconds. Still no gross motor skill milestones reached here. Think he's going to be late like ds1 was. At least I know not to worry so much this time around.

marshmallowpies · 16/09/2012 21:44

Big hugs to you hug

Still got a pooey baby here, but it's been much better in the last 2 days - yesterday she went from around 1pm to 4 with a nappy which was only wet, not pooey, which was a miracle. Then did the same from about 9pm to midnight.

DH is away on business for a week so I've had my first weekend looking after her entirely alone - luckily had arranged to spend the day with friends yesterday and was invited over to dinner with other friends today so have been quite busy.

DMIL is coming to spend the day tomorrow and DM also coming down for the night & staying all day Tuesday. So only spending Wed/thurs/fri entirely by myself. It was nice being in the middle of the bed by myself last night (& no snoring!) but apart from that can't wait for DH to get back.

HenriettaChicken · 16/09/2012 23:02

Ah the middle of the bed...if DH comes to bed later than me he'll invariably find me fast asleep in the middle of the bed doing my best sideways starfish pose. Grin

Flisspaps · 17/09/2012 07:33

hug Sad if you need to talk here, then do. Thoughts are with you.

No sitting here, we're working on that one!

I was up again too. DD seem to have picked up an extra night feed now at 11pm, 230/3 and 5/530 then up at 8am. Not sure why?
It there a 5/6 month sleep regression???? Lol
Dh thinks we should try water, bur she really won't take milk from a bottle let alone water!
I think she is hungry, but its a bit much every 4hrs?

im praying she will go back to just 11 or just 3, might try a 10pm dream feed tonight?

Anyone else struggling with a greedy baby?

hugandroll · 17/09/2012 19:06

Thanks everyone you're all amazing!

A is nearly rolling, he just needs to figure out how to get his arm from under him and he'll have cracked it.

digitalgirl · 17/09/2012 19:32

I'm bloody knackered here too. F feeds more at night than he does in the day, am trying to up his daytime feeds but doesn't seem to be making a difference. Went to a bf clinic last week where they said I shouldn't try cutting any nighttime feeds until I can be sure he's taking more in the day. He used to just wake once though, now he's waking 3-4 times. And feeding doesn't always help - sometimes he cries and cries till eventually I give him some calp

He had a bit more avocado this evening after practically leaping out of my arms to try and grab it.

newmummyvicky · 17/09/2012 20:46

Glad im not the only one digi yes L feeds alot a night too, and small amounts in day, very strange!

DD didn't like avocado, but mixed it with banana and she loved it, very funny poo's the next day, a mix of green!!!! Yuck! :-)
